1st Look at the Oaks

The Happy Hour Crew discusses the top contenders in the Kentucky Oaks

Full Transcript

This week on the horse racing. Happy hour presented by Single

Barrel Cigar Company Tawny Port wins the Lexington.

Will he take down the Derby's a digestif?

The Oaks field is taking shape as we force each host to provide

a topic. Well our house throw up, Theo,

make an oath, they wish to keep private collect sticks for as

Welling or defy the producer who makes the intro and the tessio

brought us to an age-old question is Joe a player in the

Preakness? And will they get crushed a lot

at the windows? This and more is the happy hour.

That's right now. All right.

Welcome into the horse racing. Happy hour Mike and awful here

and I'm joined by Louis Robo. Hey, we're on the same couch

together. Megan's here.

Yeah, technically you're here that are not with you guys

because I was Invited but just fine.

Mm, we only live like I can't be invited if you don't tell me

that it's going on. So no.

See this is I knew this was going to be a thing.

Louis I knew it was going to be their focus to Garf.

So we've got our we're outside on the the the outdoor patio so

we can enjoy our Single Barrel. Cigars thank you.

Pat. A single barrel cigar with us if

we were if you're okay baby if you invited me, who knows?

We invite JD he thought about Coming over.

I can't I check I check the the plane for the plane travel and

yeah I'm gonna gonna go ahead and say it's not too much for

one day. Yeah.

What did you all miss one? Ciao.

I think it was blue. Just missed me so much last week

and he just needed to be closer to me.

I get that. Yeah, it seems that way.

All that is true. It is 100%.

And we had an incredible just like kickoff for my Derby event

with, with bourbon bill. Yeah, you're drinking some old

tub. You want.

To do some. Cheers hero, just cheers.

We got our derby glasses. Yes, it is Oakes season, which

is maybe I made my first homemade mint, julep, and nice.

How to come up was that it's okay.

Like, I kind of rushed it a little bit because there's a

last-minute decision, okay? I usually make really good

Mitchell's, I'm not gonna lie, you know?

And I'm a person who likes them in jewelry.

Humble brag. Okay.

Yes. Yeah, I can, I can help drag it

and then maybe I'll even put out on our Twitter.

Like, I did this video about making a making a mint julep,

you But what that? Yep, do we shot him down because

he was drinking much, humble, bragging.

Apparently, the The Humble brag, The Humble brag on this?

How, you know the oak season? We will shut down the show.

Just froze. Hopefully we can lose

everything. Oh, there you go.

We can kind of hear you now. You still alive.

Nope. Alright so anyways jdi.

Yep. You're so let's go ahead it down

until I see them come back here. But yeah, and what we can do is

we can recap the big two races from last week.

Obviously, we previewed the Lexington and the tessio, and we

have both race calls. I think we should start in

Maryland though, with the tessio I love you.

I don't know how about, I don't know about you, Megan.

I love single. Horses that are named after like

people names. So I have a soft spot in my

heart for Joe and we'll somehow Joe performed in the tessio a

win in your, in, for the Preakness, the stretch Joe's got

a battle on his hands. There Joe, the outside.

Smarten up here, between horses secret Alliance.

Joe fending off, secret Alliance.

Here's mr. Jefferson on the outside mr.

Jefferson's coming to second now.

Joe's got the lead a furlong left to go.

Mr. Jefferson It's Mike trombetta 12 in the Federico

tessio Stakes. Mr. Jefferson Joe, Joe's, giving

all the inside. Mr. Jefferson up and down.

John Doe. Got it Joe from mr.

Jefferson Yeah, I mean he's such a good-looking horse.

I mean, he's got that like big barrel chest on them and you saw

him come around the turn. He looks good obviously didn't

have a speck of dirt on him. So he did well to, you know,

stay out from behind other horses and his running style.

But was interesting is that he didn't change leads into a very,

very late. And that is the only reason why

he won that photo finish because the Jackie finally switched

excited about the 16 cold. Maybe after Besides after and

then he was able to use his left hand and then the horse when she

was right which is the bleep you want to be on in the in the home

stretch and then he was able to find another gear and get this

far in front of the second-place finisher.

That was the only saving grace. It was still a great race

between those two horses. But it's one of those things

that you think is it because he was tired.

Is that habit? Like it's something bothering

him or whatever? Or was it just the fact that the

rider didn't switch sticks until so late?

He was still going with the right hand, which kind of tells

As the horse to stay on the left lead.

So interesting kind of a result and something definitely to

watch as he you know continues his racing career maybe

something to go back and see him as his other races if that was a

problem. Yep.

So I guys, Michael trombetta horses.

Run 12 there. I neither were nominated to the

Triple Crown so they will have to supplement in with Joe for

the Preakness but my been an impressive enough performance to

do it. Yeah for sure.

And we've got Louis and Mike back, and I did some you know,

technical re working in the back.

So Mike's dream he got to he got some moving internet router

around. Yeah, you know, just I'm trying

to enjoy and relax as much as possible because it's going to

get crazy for me Thunders. You know obviously tomorrow and

they're calling for 80 degree weather and people haven't been

outside and three years like it's gonna To be.

Wow, it's gonna be crazy down. There may be alive.

We just watch the tessio. Yeah, with Joe winning.

Okay, he's not Triple Crown nominated.

How do you feel about? Odors not paying the four grand

up front, for horses, said, could run in the Preakness.

I got there with their choice. I guess.

All right. Yeah, I mean, their horse their

choice ceremony here. Yeah, I'm I'm pro-choice when it

comes to horses. During races and that's it.

Nominating for its rescue. Do Freedom.

That's right. Okay I'm gonna go with there you

go. Yeah so anyways the Lexington JD

what happened there. On top of the short, stretch,

major-general laid, Strava and S, Tawny Port.

Third ethereal road goes to the outside in the fourth position.

Dash attack has dropped back into fifth, Tawny Port ethereal

road, trying to Come after Strava and Major General.

In due time is looking toward the inside.

Tawny port to the lead, Tawny port with the lead in deep

stretch from Major General in due time, looking to the rail,

major, generals fighting back, but Tawny Port, the leader Tawny

port for on, shirou to win the Stonestreet Lexington Stakes.

That was such an interesting one because we talked about Brad

Cox, you know, saying, oh we're just, we're really just going to

try the dirt. If it works out great, then

we'll go to the derby obviously. But like, if it doesn't, he We

kind of thought he was more of a Synthetic Turf horse.

Anyways, so no big deal and then he just Lumbers on and is able

to win that race with, you know, didn't really seem like that

much effort from him. And the final stages, I was a

little disappointed by Major General.

I thought he would run way better than that, totally great.

Oh yeah, I think I like did not include Tawny port for that

reason, because I read the article with Brad Cox saying

that they were just were like gonna figure it out.

Had I not read that article on. DNR wherever I saw it, I

probably would have laid him so you do and be my challenge ever

stations. We've had previously Megan, I

know that you've mentioned that the Preakness surface plays a

little bit more toward turfy types and I thought 20 Port was

actually a really good type of horse that could run really well

in the Preakness. I was a little surprised or the

push for the Derby but we talked about it many many times.

Every owner wants their horse in the derby and frankly if you do

up well, it's a sour making race for sure.

Yeah, absolutely. So we'll see.

I mean, There's this year. So interesting, there's plenty

of horses on the bubble will talk.

More, of course about the Derby horses and all on the list next

week. But yeah, we talked about the

spike system. I love the strike system strike

system. I'm a strike system van mainly

because I'm a big believer in the eighth.

Pole fact, that Megan went apeshit on last year, so I

didn't. Okay, well, now we're now we're

worth it. The way we need that hash that

we need that hashtag. Now explicit.

Yeah, exactly. Oh my gosh.

Yes, for sure. So yes.

I like talking about the strike system when it comes to the

derby. I love all those Trends.

It's going to be interesting because last year bucked.

A whole bunch of Trends. Yes it is.

And then of course the year before that I have no idea

what's going on my neighborhood. Someone just revved I guess it

was a lawnmower engine. I don't know.

Classy is what? It's classy as all get-out.

Yes. A lot of you guys been drinking.

Well, I'm just gonna grate but I'm all over that.

Yeah. Alright.

Anyways, go ahead. Mike tell us about cigars.

We got here Louis. So these are from from our show

sponsor from our partners down and Ybor City from Single Barrel

cigars we actually got the ones in the Two bows and so they

actually come with a bit of barrel chart in them.

So you keep that bourbon flavor while they're here, which is

great. And so really, really fun.

Octave smoke comes right off. They actually give you the date

that these were put in the bottle.

Also, you know, the freshness of your tsar's when they're coming

up, which is awesome. And so, appreciate Nick, and

Matt, and all those guys down there anymore, City for us,

sending those up, making sure we had those on the show.

Tonight, was Nick involved with the launch that just happened

with? I wonder if he was, didn't lie.

Elon Musk having lunch today? I got assume I yeah, I assume

that Nick does all those things. Yeah, no but really great stuff.

And we've had terrific support from our listeners as well.

They've been overwhelmed by the number of people that have Stout

on behalf of listening to the show, hearing about the cigars

from here. So single barrel, cigars go,

find them Instagram Facebook, lots of different places.

They'll get you that, I'll get you that happy hour special.

I think it's, I think there's no shipping cost, right?

No shipping, I like it. Well.

All right, so we're we're going to show you there.

So that is how we did meet Lexington of the tests show.

That was the first thing, okay? Yeah, yeah.

We heard how Dave Rodman, is considerably better than lots of

other race colors. That's what we heard.

Okay. Yeah.

Them know that you feel that way?

Yeah. There you go.

There you go. Are we ready to start talking

about the The Oaks I think it is.

Okay, let's talk about the Kentucky Oaks while we had.

I think we actually like lost signal before I got to tell you

my favorite thing about these dirty glasses.

Okay that's true. There is a there's a blank space

for last year's winner. Nobody that is fantastic.

Oh and we got talk about that midnight bourbon dying.

Yeah yeah. Just say yeah that was very

unfortunate. Yeah.

They they said it was a gastrointestinal situation

basically so essentially I don't know if it's a report has come

out but of course it could call like really easily and when they

do they horse can't throw up. So their intestines get all

twisted up and you can have the vet come out and hopefully you

know they can kind of tubtim and figured that out a little bit

but it's it can go from okay too.

Two. Very, very bad.

Very, very quickly. So unfortunate situation if it

was that, but they're just, they're so sensitive.

Their stomachs are so sensitive. And so it's it's always sad when

any horse has to go through that.

But of course, when I bourbon was was one that I know the ask

me as mohsin part of it as Muzzin Barn.

Barn loved. And you know, I certainly wanted

to see him kind of get his Heyday because he had been in

those big spots for a while. I was just coming off of work

out, I mean, work out, the catch is once this is your boobs and I

don't know why that is, it's kind of weird.

Anyway, Irene, dark cat eyes up here, cat.

Oh my God. If you just throw the cat off

the table, what happened? Sorry about it.

People listen on audio or going to be like, what is going on?

And like Back, I'll be right back, he's gotta go to spotty

after Spotify and well since beautified Megan's got something

to do. So I do have a quick

announcement. I wanted to make Wednesday of

Derby. Week May 4th, we're going to be

having a Kentuckiana friends of V, cancer, research fundraiser,

nice. All right around the corner from

here. I heard you talk about that

today. Okay good.

Yeah, Chef's cut Pizza, I'm announcing it on this show first

so that all the contact info can get out there.

But just go ahead and look up chefs, cut pizza and 30 bucks,

it's Pizza, its wings, 20 bucks, go straight to cancer research.

They're gonna have a three dollar beer, five dollar bourbon

special and by the way, one of the best unknown pizza places in

Louisville underrated. So like it's people don't know

about this place and it's fantastic pizza.

And if you like Mexican food, there's like a Mexican bakery

and grocery right by their trading right next to.

Yes. Awesome.

Sticking. Back to this, we're only doing

50 seats, 30 bucks a head. We're going to try to raise a

couple Grand. Single Barrel, is going to help

us out. The little cigar basket for a

raffle, we're doing a bourbon raffle as well.

I've actually heard from someone who listens to ESPN radio today,

that they're going to donate a couple of bottles so there's

going to be a bunch of that. So we're going to try to raise

about 2 Grand 2500 dollars for cancer research.

How about Chef John who's actually cancer survivor

himself, all right over it Chef's, got pizza and so I'll be

the handicapper on site for that on Wednesday May 4th.

Does that mean you get to pay out Park in a handicapped spot?

Obviously. And so, if you wanted to call

over there, it's 265 13. NT over a chest cut and just

tell Carissa that you want to come to that event.

You do have to pay ahead of time but I don't know how many spots

were going to be able to hold for people but I'm putting it

out on the happy hour right now. Again 265, 1320 over at Chefs

cut, help us raise some money for cancer research and do some

good in the community are so, you know, we got another, we got

another fundraising thing that we got to do that.

We haven't really talked about yet, okay?

We've got those two, beautiful Secretariat pieces that we've

got to raise some money for juvenile diabetes.

We do. Yep.

So we gotta figure out what we're going to do that.

You know, I don't know. What do you think?

We'll get those out soon? Yeah, we're going to do a real

soon. And by the way, if people don't

know, we are back at Churchill Downs, Live Oaks and Derby Day

noon to 2:00 on Oaks day, and then, you can also check us out

on Derby day, 1:49. We've we've done the smart

thing. Mike, and I have done the smart

thing. We're done working at 2:00.

Yeah. And I think it's gonna run

downstairs. Yes, you were to be working and

I gotta be honest, like I'm going to need like you to bring

zooming like have a vitamin D injection.

You can bring yourself like that because it's going to be I'm

doing the read a thing and coming home from California.

If you get it Friday morning. No, I'm getting in Thursday

morning. Okay.

But it's like the worst fight ever.

I'll bring the injection. And I've got to like, be in the

middle seat. On the road, on the red-eye

part. Oh, and when you're my size, in

the middle seat, not good, not good at all.

I know. Hmm.

Snoring to bother people. Yeah.

It's wrapping fudge liquid IV. That's what you need.

Look, I've got what I got some of that stuff that look, would I

be stuff? I'll make sure I bring it.

So I'm hoping that I listen. I'm not going to commit to all

day Oaks. I might have, I might bail

early, I might be able to give a shout out.

They had their opening week this week.

Hoosier, excuse me, Horseshoe in the open this week or people up

racing Rachel and they're actually going to help sponsor

us for our Derby coverage for Oaks and derby cover.

Seriously, they're gonna jump on as radio sponsors with us this

year and so it's recording down. She's gonna be here for Oaks so

just wanted to give them a shout out.

They're going to be doing some spots with us on the Oaks and

Derby coverage as well and of course our friends at Cody

photography. So there you go.

Awesome. Vishal track of photographers at

Churchill Downs and you be able to get to all of your photos all

your favorite winners from them. All right, there you go.

We got all kinds of good stuff. I'll be at a charity event to

since we're doing for the first 15 minutes of the show, I am

going to be the handicapper one of them at the second straight

event which is the organization that to re homes thoroughbreds

and retired thoroughbreds. And so they have a fun event at

Molly. Malone's on Bardstown Road on

Monday. May 2nd also you can clean up

and yeah, should be fun. It's always good turnout of your

lots of course, then go. Yeah, different people.

It's kind of are You know, one of the nights that everybody can

come hang out and stay out a little bit later before Derby

week, really gets crazy. So always a fun, one to go to.

This is my favorite of the single girl cigars over the

bottle. Yeah, it's good.

No, this gets really good. All right, let's talk about the

Oaks. Let's get into oakes's and all

right there. All right, let me, I'll announce

the horses. You all tell me what you think.

Louise gonna help me out here, do I pull it up?

We're gonna start right off the bat with a horse named Nest,

Megan, what do you think about? I love nest.

I love this picture here, which I may have duck but taking I

don't know. But I just think right?

Kind of jogger, but also maybe put it back update, put it back.

So what's great about this horse?

Is how easily she won. I mean, this is the Finish,

okay? And you can see just how much of

a hold Jose Ortiz still has on her?

And that to me was pretty impressive because she won

impressive. We and she just didn't look like

she had gotten anywhere near the bottom of the tank which I love

to see going into though. So I thought that was a stellar

performance in Ashland, you know, see that right here, she's

obviously in the orange and blue silk with the white Bridal, but

she just puts this field to shame and she just keeps getting

quicker. It looks like as she's coming

down the homestretch. So I was super impressed by

this. I think the important thing to

point out, I mean like he's literally slowing her down at

this point. No, you're right and they do the

shorter stretch at Keeneland for the Ashland.

And so they don't even use the full stretch.

She's going to get the benefit of that full stretch at

Churchill. And I think she's really, really

going to love that stretch out that extra added distance on the

back and so my sense is you know she comes around front side to

the back of the race there. I think she's really really

going to love that I agree with Megan on all of her points there

that she is just super fit. This is a really professional

Philly and so I absolutely expect her to be part of the

equation. So nice.

The topic is Nest. So we got some major Contender

when it comes to Nest. Great stuff right there from

back in the night, disagree on the top horse.

But for me she's a top three horse, no question.

Okay. So let's go to who you want to

go to next year? Louis.

Sorry. So next is a Kathleen.

Oh, are you still would like the one thing I can talk about.

All right? Yes Kathleen.

Oh, here it is. Hey, by the way, I think, how

much would it cost us to put the horse racing happier logo on

jockey pants? A lot, the oak lot of those to

figure it out, right? Only, we have that kind of, you

know, what do you think sponsors?

So this is a really interesting Little Filly.

What I saw her in person when she was working out that day for

that picture you just saw. I didn't quite realize how

slight she is like she and her Riders really big so that

doesn't really do much. I said she's a tall horse but

she's got that kind of like smaller frame to her and that

she's Slider, boned. And I think those are kind of

the types of horses that you see should buy.

But what's really important is watching this workout.

This is so she's what she was two more works.

I think after this one before the oak, so they start her off

here and you can see he's not really asking her do much, just

kind of letting her open up a little bit on the rail, gives

her a little bit of tap. There's they're coming around

the corner and then he's gonna, I think see this other horse

that you'll see on the outside. It's keeping her on the rail.

This guy over here is leaning over so far, trying to get his

horse to change leaves incorrectly.

And so actually Casino has to slow down and her work is kind

of interrupted in that. I mean, she's still working.

Yes. Technically, but this is not the

kind of finish that you want to see.

You can see the rider, he's checking his watch their.

He's like, man, this is not really what we intended then

he's gonna give her a little bit of tap to finish up and get, you

know, try to make up for some of that slowing down that they had

to do. But you know she handled it.

Well she seems like she's a pretty a pretty good feeling

gives her a couple of Taps on the gal about to just to say hey

remember you know we're all business here but that was

definitely one of those perhaps that you you want to see and and

see how she is. Next time and see if they get a

better workout, they're still far enough out that it'll think

it's a huge deal. It's not like when the truce

good took off and had that accident to work like three days

before the, you know, Breeders Cup distaff but it is something

to consider because that kind of stuff happens in horse racing.

Yeah I I have cash. You know, as my favorite for the

Oaks, I just I think she's a total Pro.

She was great in the Devon today.

We talked about that one, turn mile down at Gulfstream.

I thought on on Gulfstream, on Florida, Derby Day, scuse me.

I thought you was the best horse of the day.

Looked really good in The Gulfstream Park Oaks going to

turns for the first time. Obviously not a ton of

experience, going to turns lots of these Phillies don't have

that. So I'm not holding that against

her. I also trust that she loves

going to have her ready for two Fridays from now.

And so, I Kathleen. Oh, on top for me.

It feels so far. There it is Kathleen.

Oh, and then I can get 100% Louis, you know, 444 seen the

steady Improvement in terms of speed figures and just each race

seems to get better. So, I am a big fan of Kathleen.

Oh, that's what we're doing. This is all right.

Well, I guess I guess I'll take the, I'll guess I'll take the

next person. Healthy.

I'll take secret oath. Hey, look at you.

Yeah. So let's talk will be about

secretive. Yeah.

So secret oath comes in off of that.

Is it a disappointing? Because I think the absolutely

not correct. I agree with you.

What was funny with? This was one of those Twitter

moments where everyone was, like, I probably am in the

minority, but I think secret oath ran a great Arkansas Derby

today, and it's like everyone thinks that settle down and so

so no. She's a terrific Philly.

And no reason to doubt that the coach is not going to have her

ready when we get to when we get to Oaks day as well.

I liked the idea of running her in the Arkansas Derby.

I'll be honest, I think that it made sense against that kind of

field to figure out where she was amongst the boys a little

bit of a tough trip. Had to go pretty wide showed

herself to be really, really fit in really well capable of doing

that before that had done really well in the honey bee.

So I'm not, I'm not at all worried about her, former

anything, like that. Coming into coming into.

Is this Arkansas? Derby, the honeybee.

I'm sorry. JD no, this is the honey bee

money because the honey bee, there we go.

Thank you. And, and so, this is where you

really see her form over to turns over the Surface.

See a lot of horses move from Oak Lawn to Churchill to do

really well. So I'm off.

Also not worried about that. What she's been up against

Phillies. She's been very good Martha

Washington to turns Oaklawn win. The only time, the last time she

didn't win was in the Goldenrod, but that was in November at

Churchill Downs. They give her that.

Freshening over December, she doesn't run.

She runs in late January in the Martha, Washington wins, runs

late, February wins Ron's of the beginning of April and the

Arkansas Derby still has a good show finishes in the money in

third place. So I think she's done plenty.

T to show that she's absolutely one of the contenders I'll

probably not be using her as one of my tops just to avoid a lot

of I think a lot of money is going to come in, on secret

oath. And so I think using other

horses makes a lot of sense, but I absolutely expect her to be in

the super effective least, I think, I mean, just from my

perspective, and then Arkansas Derby.

And I'm definitely not as good at this stuff you all, but she

had a terrible break, she had a terrible trip, she had put out

way too much effort early in the so like I can almost excuse why

she was a little tired at Finish sure.

I mean I think if she gets the right trip, I think this horse

is definitely a. Genuine major major Contender

here. So maybe, yeah, I mean, I love

the way that she has been able to when she makes a move.

And you saw that there in the honey bee on the inside.

When she just decided, she was like, okay, it's time to go, you

know, in the rider gave her a few, she really, really

responsive. And I love that.

You saw that even in the Arkansas Derby to, because she

was made it really big middle. Move around that turn and looked

like she was going to circle the field and you know, come up

really strong and she did and he still ran really well.

But I just love how much she's developed.

You know, she is a horse that I think physically looks really

great and has continued to look better and better and that she's

just such a responsive Philly. It seems like she really has a

lot in the tag. Plus, I mean, keep in mind that

she ran in the Arkansas Derby, right?

So instead of running in the fantasy which is a mile to 16th

correct for the Oaks which is a mile and an eighth.

She In our server which is is a mile of me.

So I mean you get that Fitness out of that, it's not a huge

difference but it is a difference for these young

fillies and so I think that kind of preparation is really going

to be huge for her when it comes time for some of these horses.

Like you mentioned, you know, I do really like a Kathleen oh but

she's done a lot of the one turn kind of racing and stuff.

She groans gone to turns over longer distances.

She just seems like she's got so much Foundation to her so much

stamina that I think that's going to be really.

Utter apart from a lot of other horses in the field and so we

got one more of the big four. I guess you could say the big

four favorites when it comes to the Oaks and that's Echo Zulu.

So Megan, what do you think by Echo Zulu?

I do not know what to make of echo Zulu.

This is one that I really am scratching my head about because

she was so dominant as a two-year-old.

And we saw that in her braces, the Breeders Cup and forget that

other race, that she won so nicely at and her two-year-old

year. But you know she won by In

length so easily and I don't know if that's just the rest of

the Phillies were in, you know, as mature as she was or

whatever. If you really is that talented,

but then she comes back off the layoffs and she wins, but she

won just barely, you know. And so this is, this is the race

where she came back off the way off, right?

Yeah. In March.

And so, I don't know if that's a matter of, we see it with

horses, they just kind of need a race doing just enough, but I

want to see her get back to that form where she's winning by open

legs. I mean, she doesn't get too far

out in front of these horses. She's never stopped before.

Sometimes, that's a problem for others.

The jocks, finally gonna, you know, keep encouraging her.

You can see him, especially he uses the stick on the right.

I think that the eighth pole there is when he takes it out.

So it does seem like there. They're pushing her, but they're

not, you know, bearing down on the horse and using up

everything that they got. So I don't know what to make of

that first race back and I wish I could see her another race

before. The Kentucky Oaks, I think Megan

spot on here which is that this is the Wild Card of the big four

in the Oaks this year. Yeah and that this is going to

be her second start so you can either take that as a positive

that she s off right? And that this is, you know,

she's going to improve from that race.

And she's going to get better or you could take the opposite tack

Just well if I like her then why don't I like hidden connection

who was right there with her at the Finish?

Well, yeah, but you know it's also what she have the other

fillies just kind of caught up in terms of maturity strength,

Etc. You know like was she an early

Bloomer and I just you don't base out of that one

performance. It's so hard to note.

I mean, this is seriously case of you have to trust as Muslim

trust in asthma them. And that's true, you know and

obviously watch your works and stuff and you know compare

numbers but you just have So little to go off of this year.

It's so tough. I'll go the other way with that

Louis and that I had hidden connection, singled on that day

in the fairground, Oaks, and if hidden connection is not going

to get by Echo Zulu in that race were Echo Zulus.

Not given all, I don't think you can really expect that much

improvement from hidden connection.

Going into the Oaks. Okay.

Yeah, that would be. I think the concern.

All right, so, I mean, it's kind of it seems kind of weird to

mention them, you know, can you go back to that real quickly?

Sorry, We have like three other horses who have 100 points with

desert. Don your giri and and nostalgic.

If I'm picking off names, I love goddess of fire.

And of course, we got cocktail moments.

That were seems like it should be a friend of the show.

Anybody who's your best of the rest?

Megan, who do you like? Oh gosh, that's hard.

I don't know. I mean, I think that's going to

be one of those things for me where I am watching them train

on the track and then make that decision Derby week.

There it's to me it's kind of that big four and then like you

know everybody else so it's it's a really tough call to make I

think and there's there's 14 horses in the Oaks obviously and

refer people that maybe don't pay as much attention.

They do I think dropped for also eligibles but the the field is

capped at 14. So a little bit less than the

Kentucky Derby. Search results came out of

Aqueduct last year and ran really, really well in the okay.

Have search results in your top five.

Oh, okay. How about that?

How so shocking that you would bring that up my friend.

So coming out of coming out of the aqueduct preps who I think

is a very talented Philly out of the gorge Abreu.

Barn is any Valentine's? - so that's the kind of longer

shot shooter. That might be the one that

sneaks into thirds in the third place.

That kind of thing makes your try really pay, you know, 200

$250 that kind of thing. So I think a horse like many

Valentine would land in the top five for me.

I think she's mega-talented and I think she's gonna like the

surface change to Churchill Downs.

Yeah. And then you've got the wild

card with the horse right on the edge.

There with shama, I think is what we're saying right for the

horse coming in. Who won the UAE Oaks?

Yeah, sure. That.

What's interesting about shirahama is that you're like,

oh, well, you know, who did she beat?

Which I guess is, its kind of fair, you can say that and if

that race is going to carry over here, but when I was prepping

for the show, I pulled her up on Echo base and house.

Like probably show some breakfast so she's a munnings.

She is undefeated in her career she is 444.

Also she is was bred here in the u.s. actually by SF bloodstock

who does a very good job, they had very many good horses

throughout their their time and actually was sold at OBS as a

two-year-old for just under five hundred thousand dollars.

So, really interesting words because you're like, with the

international ones, you never know, but but essentially she's

just kind of racing over there, but she has so much, you know,

so much here in the US just from her Beginnings that I think is

interesting, but look at yours also prepped by Eddie Woods, who

they've got awesome, awesome two-year-olds there and in

Ocala. So she's been a horse that from

the beginning. It's kind of been a little bit

of a stunner. So I'm really interested to see

what she's like on the track as well.

So JD you gotta, you gotta kind of off the board person horse

that you like I mean, there's one Arizona bread in the race,

so I feel like I'm not wanted into that immediately with

desert Dawn out of obviously, Cupid's The Sire.

We know what cupid did on the track and Deanna Derby winner.

I mean, above all else. We need to mention that, but,

you know, Ashley's glory, is an interesting mayor was pretty

successful, but was not successful in Arizona, you know,

where she went all of her race is literally Oliver races Finger

Lakes Arizona, mayor bread. Mayor that one Oliver races at

Finger Lakes so it's interesting.

Okay. That was a horse that was a

horse. That was up in the OBS sale and

RN aid. Went back to the Breeders and as

found success in California. I think will be a deep closing.

So I think really, you know, for third, probably the height of

the expectations for the connections there but you

qualified you're going to run and you got an Arizona bread.

So So, interesting Philly for sure.

The one we haven't mentioned New York bread to in inventing

Valentine and I thought there was another one as well, but

it's kind of an interesting. Your medieval Spirit, wasn't you

like a Florida bread or something to write?

Like, I feel like it's opened up in the past couple of years.

We also have that Ontario bread, but it was competing on the

derby show with Messier obviously and there's like a lot

of horses from all over the place of late.

Yeah, yeah, I did. We mention you.

Jerry, I'm sorry, make it a few mentioned.

Ujiri bit. If we haven't.

I mean, that's a horse ran second in the Goldenrod last

fall. Then one, the fantasy.

And so I'm, you know, that's why you didn't get to see that

secret oath. Ujiri matchup in the, in the

fantasy. But third in the honeybee, right

behind by the way, a great Mariah Carey song.

Fantasies. Great Mariah Carey.

I made that same joke and no one got it before the fantasy.

So I'm glad I got it talking about there.

No one got it. So, the but no, ujiri is one of

those horses. Like Megan mention have other

horses, physically caught up to secret, Oaths she could be one

of those horses that's in your third fourth, fifth kind of

spot. If you're playing a deeper, you

know, Sort of single race kind of ticket.

And so interesting as well, Japanese breeders obviously.

And so, you know, we're seeing that Japanese Renaissance in the

sport right now. And so, who knows that might be

a horse as well, that ends up in your either, your super, and

you're in your pets of that kind of thing.

So there you go, there it is. Work, just a little bit JD just

to the start of the turn there. Oh, cuz I actually didn't get to

see that one live and I thought it would be kind of cool to talk

through it just a little bit. Since this is something that we

do on our live shows, Kentucky Derby and Joke.

So Rudolph Bruce a is the trainer.

He's actually a board ujiri this is the same morning as Kathleen.

Oh the same time as she comes around the turn you can see and

give her just a little bit of a tap on the shoulder with the

crop, but his hands are really still his body's really still,

she's pretty wide on the track. So this is one of those where

she's doing this very easily very well within herself.

She's not being pushed, you know, he might kind of move his

hands up on it, her neck, just a little bit to say, you know,

keep going or whatever but in no way, is she being pushed and she

does switch off weeds there. Right at the wire.

Which sometimes when horses do that because they're supposed to

be on the right lead switch off to their left which is what

they're all when they come around the turns.

It's just kind of a mental thing.

Like she was like, all right, I know I'm done and and they're

just bored, you know? And so she does is really,

really nicely. But what I think is important

and kind of watching some of these works and learning how to

read the horse's body language and the Riders body language is

that when you see the time which to be honest with you, I don't

remember what the time was for that horse.

I probably You should look that up before speaking, but you

know, whatever. So here we go.

Nikki flat. No, yes.

If you flat obviously, it makes sense to me, right?

Because it seems like it would be a slower work.

She was doing it really easily, but sometimes you see those and

you'll see, you know, a 49 and 50 work and the horses really

being pushed. So, if you're able to watch

those on some sort of platform, or especially this time of year,

it's something that you want to make note of, I think in your

program because that can be a huge.

I can be really indicative of how horses are going to run

leading up into a Race. So Megan did you say that was

actually trainerroad ofrece on her right doing the work?

Yeah. Yeah.

So he does, that's very cool. Yeah, he rides until Rome is not

do that. I just want to know how many

horses be ready to go the main writer for exercise Rider and

oftentimes work writer. If there wasn't a jock on for

Belmont for many, many years, I mean he wrote so many A of his

good horses that he had in the last 10 years so he's a super

super talented person. All right, so Megan we mentioned

a little bit about seeing them on the track.

I mean obviously you're going to get that opportunity to see them

live and in person and I remember maybe the first year we

did together cheering getting Empress like we looked in like

that was, there's your ocean. There's your own clothes winter,

and it's like, you know, you you're looking at how they take

to the surface at Churchill Downs, you get to actually see

them side-by-side working out with the other Odes Phillies and

just kind of see who's and when Center getting a came on, we

thought was a cold It was just. Yeah, same.

So that's, you know, we got the email, the other day, from

darrenrodgers, the folks at Churchill, they are going to be

open to the public again so if you show up around on Saturday,

sorry on Saturday, yeah, right? Yeah.

After 7:00 from 737 45. It's only Oaks and Derby

contenders. They'll have the special set of

claws on you can tell who they are, right?

Just walk in walk into the grandstand 737 45.

No cost. Just walk in with your coffee.

It's one of the cool things. Churchill does.

Yeah, well, people don't just go in and check them out.

A lot of times they're not doing a time to work or something like

that, but you get a good sense. If the horse is comfortable

there, that's what's being on the front side.

Is beneath me though, but I understand.

But but that's if you're not as boom.

Cool thing about being on the front side though, is that you

do get to see if the horse is school in The Paddock.

You're right there. I mean, a lot of times, they'll

back up, we call it, right? So you step onto the track.

The horses are kind of jog to right in front of the everyday,

Winner's Circle at Churchill Downs, and stand there for a

moment before they take off from the pony and then they'll end up

doing. Work.

So you do get kind of more of a view because you get to see the

horses they come around a little bit more instead of just one

little flash if you're watching from the backside.

But yeah a lot of times to those sources will be on till about

8:00. They open up I think the tractor

buddy else at 7:45, could possibly eight, it ends up,

being kind of a longer period of time.

And then there's some trainers to that will that will wait

until that main break is over. But the Derby, you know,

timeslot time and send their horses out after.

So, if you Hang around a little bit, grab a coffee.

And obviously there's horses that come out earlier in the

morning. To, if you're super early riser,

you want to come out for that? But but yeah, it's definitely

something to see if you've never been before.

Will you be doing radio directly and see you get there for didn't

see Crown? Crown Prides Cantor, that's

popular on Twitter. Yeah, that has which is really

interesting because that's a I love it from a you know

Horseman's perspective. I think it's awesome that they

That in other countries, they spend a lot more time.

I think with these horses warming them up, a lot of times,

you're in places like new market, right?

We're at other places where you've got Gallop, said,

everybody trains on instead of having one track.

So you actually will walk your horse or dog, or whatever to

that track from your farm. And so you've got this long way

to go to get to where you're actually going to be doing the

working out. And so those horses are really

used to that, but I love the way that Crown pride is just kind of

taking everything in stride. He's also on the track, For like

forever. Apparently, and may or may not

be the new Lonnie / California Chrome.

I have heard in that. I likes you may not be safe for

work. Yeah.

Might be a fifth leg. Bring it.

You're bringing your children. Just something you may have to

explore with you and Lana came out.

There were no that was that was interesting.

Yeah, that was I was so I don't remember.

These are these are teenage boys.

The u.s. lat, this isn't yes. Other thoughts of Phillies were

all. Jeez, look at that.

All right, go ahead. Anyway, there's some dirty old

men are like that on the actual Oaks day, you know, with the,

you know. So, all right, so let's move on

and let's go to the bottom here. Yeah, let's go to the the whip

rules. So what you have to say about

that, I don't have a lot. I just don't want to tell me

what was going on. Oh, Monmouth is going to be

amending, their Ripper. All's I think Megan is more

knowledgeable on this than me. But essentially, for people who

don't know, Mom with essentially, went away from

using the whip as a switching leads and encouraging horses to

get into their fastest ride as part of their racing last year

and essentially a Striders only to use the whip in cases of

stopping. You know horses from drifting

too far into different lanes and doing essentially for safety,

only using them and there's a there's talk about amending

those rules. To to allow for the things that

I mentioned first off, you know, changing leads or you know hey

it's time to go. We're in the stretch here, you

know, speeding horses up rather than just using you know they

had dried using you know, the rains that way and so Megan can

speak way more professionally on this than I can.

Yeah, so they basically there was a big boycott from the

jockeys and honestly Horsemen in general with field sizes and all

that for even sending horses to Monmouth with the really strict

with rules that New Jersey put in place.

And so, they are appealing to the racing commission to amend

the whipping rules. Now, there will be new

regulations regarding whipping going to affect, I believe, for

the country, the life on July 1st when the horse racing,

integrity and safety act takes effect.

So that is supposed to supersede regulations.

That say, I think the rules allow for a rider to hit the

worst six times in a Yes, but no more than twice in a row.

So yeah, it'll be it'll be interesting to see if this goes

through an interesting to see if that kind of changes.

Some of the the fields, the riders that are there all of

that. I mean you saw a riders that

usually are regulars in New Jersey, Joe Bravo being one of

those, right? Who up and moved to California,

which is doing great there. But it was, it was definitely a

big big change for them. And it totally affected the

products that they were putting out and Joe Bravo's already gone

on the record. Record and said that he's made

his home and he's comfortable in California, he's not coming back

even if they change the rules. So, basically, you know, July

1st. So going to change anyway.

So the appeal right now, the commission is just have the new

hissa rules take effect at the start of the meat, right?

But I mean is it too too little too late in terms of the Jockey

colony and getting some of the the jocks that we've seen do

very well? They're back there or if it's

continue to be, it was for a while.

I mean it was a it was a Cavalcade of of apprentices.

It was there were not a lot of journeyman jockeys on the ground

and there was also a very small Colony.

I think they started the meet last year with 10 jocks opening

day. Yeah, and there was some racist

carded for 12 horses and there weren't enough jobs.

And there was, I mean, it totally took effect in the

paramutual side of things too. I mean, they were way down for

people, betting on it because of that.

Partly, right? Like I don't know these Riders,

I don't, you know, you can't encourage others to go and

whatever the public was like, I'm gonna spend my money

somewhere else. So yeah, it specially for mamas

which in the past couple years is has really struggled from

time to time with various regulations, just within the

state of New Jersey trying to, you know, be competitive with

some of those other summer racetracks that you have.

And so it's yeah, I don't know that that was that didn't work

out for them as well as I think they, they thought it might Oh

okay, it's so we'll move down to Keeneland purses being way up

and then we will talk about the Keeneland car for Saturday.

I am stealing from Ed DeRosa of horse racing Nation but on

Bluegrass State. For example, they did over 28

million and handle up 23 percent from last year.

Wow. On the same day Santa Anita was

down. 32%, for the Santa Anita Derby, which was kind of a nice

juxtaposition Essentially just that that's 23 percent increase

from last year, a record for an on Breeders Cup day at Keeneland

and I don't know that there's a lot to talk about here except

that field size works and people look for it and frankly the

payouts and pick fours and fives, aquiline have been

Turfway esque this year and so it's been it's been a bit of a

fun thing. I also also game works like

historic racing and yeah, the purse is I've really draw on

those horses for sure. And those sorts of things, I

though I want to give Keeneland a lot of credit because I think

things like the the All Turf pick three with a 15%.

Take out with that three dollar minimum is a terrific bet it's

averaging something like twenty five hundred dollars on payouts

this year which is awesome. So it's stuff like that if you

are Innovative and you allow and you allow horseplayers to find

those Best Bets, they will follow you.

And I think even the idea of just offering the turf pick

three, People to pay attention to your entire card and

Keeneland is seeing the fruits of that.

So kudos to the people, in the racing office of chemo.

All right, we're gonna move on. Actually, go ahead bacon.

Sorry, no, I just has a green. Okay, awesome.

Megan agrees. We're gonna do something, we

normally don't do. That was handled not purses.

That was way up. Yeah.

Handles it look, good gone. We're going to move on to

Friday, which we don't normally do a Keeneland, but their reason

is because we're going to see mouth that return.

And the double dog dare which is fantastic.

Name for a sarong. It is the, the grade 3, double

dog, dare a mile and a sixteenth on the dirt 300,000 dollar

purse. Who do we like in that race?

Make sure you grab you. If you're going to track grab

your Single Barrel cigar and our pics and here you go.

Louis, I like Malla that you may have heard of her and I wish I

was more interesting on this. I'm just not she's lots of

things to like here. She's very talented which is

very good pleasure. Does about 90% off this kind of

layoffs. I just a lot of this for me is

the other horses in this race that Bonnie South is the number

2 horse here, tells me that Mal that is Far and Away the best

horse in this field. And so I'm going to I'm going to

lean on that Filly in my late sequence on Friday and race

night in the double dog. Dare she's the one, I think the

case scenario will be enough that she's probably going to sit

just off behind something like super quick.

The to Ooh, and then you're going to have a bunch of horses,

right? Behind, maybe lay demystify

tries to go out to the front to, but if there's two horses out

there wearing themselves out, I think a horse like mouth that'll

sit third or fourth and should be able to overtake him in the

stretch Megan. And I just I just I just think

she's faster than everybody else made when it comes down to it.

She is a multiple grade 1 winner.

He's 13 grade ones in her career.

Bonnie South is yes. The you know, reigning champion

of this race she did when it last year.

But it's a grade 3. So she is a at best agreed to

whether she won the fairground Oaks and then you have a horse

like crazy, beautiful, who I believe her best was a great

three. So it just comes down, I don't

know. Sorry she did when the Gulf

Shrimp are gross as well, so you can do either both put together

like a late Pick 3 here and you both like a single in the last

race as well. You want to talk about that.

Yeah, and I just want to preface it by saying, I put one together

because we put one together, but unless you really invest in this

sequence and have a pretty heavy, you know, base bet for

this, it's not going to pay anything because you're going to

have mouth that at way less probably than 425.

I just did something that was similar to Louise.

He did a five dollar base. I mean, you could even do more

than that or, you know, play around with it a little bit.

But yeah, I thought now that is an Single in here, I'll jump to

the maiden special weight which is race number 10 and then I'll

go back but in race number 10. You've got a Wesley ward 3 year

old Billy. You know, and she just seems

like she's gonna be pretty quick.

I read Ortiz aboard was he born at 26 percent right now.

I love the fact that this is her second start.

It is you know kind of interesting that she started off

the made an optional claiming but she wears some of these

other horses are coming from Maiden special weight which you

like to see but clearly they kind of liked what they saw from

this the damn pardon me designed.

Mine has had I think one winner out of three starters and

they've read her back to Gunrunner in 2020 and 2021.

So it seems like some family that they're investing in, you

know, they obviously like what they saw with the 2020

Offspring. So I like to see that.

I thought about the 2 and the 12 as well, but I think I'm just

going to single. And then in that first leg of

the pick, three eyes Right in there.

It's a mile and a half to her face.

It seems like one of those where you could really have kind of

anybody jump up and see who likes the distance.

Obviously, always have a question there of the pace

scenario. So I thought, if you were going

to try to take her, make any kind of money in the sequence,

maybe it's that you could even think about doing like a heavy

Daily Double and using, you know, a few horses quite a few

horses or you think you might get a price in racing buried and

then single mouth that they're in the Next leg.

So, let's do a hundred dollar bet and only make 110 million

110, that kind of thing. I mean, I think mouth that's

going to be less than 45. It's it's not a no contest, sure

it might not be a super playable sequence.

By the way, the horse in the last race that Megan and I are

both on his the seven musical design.

That's an Iran and Wesley Ward, the two of them hitting at 29%

right now and it's nice too. Especially on the off races, on

the, on the maidens or what have you Megan and I land on the same

horse completely independently, which is nice.

I had four horses in the race. I think Megan had five, that's

the difference in our tickets. She and I had the same top

three, I included the two, three, four and six.

I think Megan wit 632 if that's right.

And so that's a similarity there and said, you know, we're

different on the fourth horse essentially.

So you can even shorten up and use the 63 and to or the six.

Yes, six three and two on top. Then you can even press even

more if you wanted to play for 10 bucks play for $30, that kind

of thing. But that's how you can get the

most value out of that. You're kind of hoping that

someone hits the all button in the eighth that kind of thing

and then one of your better horses comes in that kind of

thing. And so we're trying to hit

someone in the last race because it's made in something like that

so Megan are very similar on that.

All right did you have something identity?

Yeah one thing I really want to say there with musical design

the the single in the last there, I wouldn't put a whole

lot of stock in that Main optional claiming because that

is a Florida bread. So that horse was not okay to

that race. So it's basically right?

It's a condition free pass. That's a free pass to see what

you have and the horse for not breaking it all ran really

impressively so this has to step up but this is a step up that

makes complete sense. Yeah, absolutely agree.

All right, great stuff right there.

So we'll move on a Saturday Caitlin and we got two stakes

races, we're going to talk about and then we're going to finish

the pick three with the Race team, which is an optional

claiming race will do a quick pic on that one, but the first

Stakes race is the grade 3, bin Ali Stakes.

It's a mile and an eighth on the dirt for four year olds and up.

Three hundred thousand dollar purse here.

Megan who do you like in this one?

I want the five on top. Warrant for Brad Fox and fluffy

and Pratt to continues to do very very well at Keeneland but

like the fact that this horse is, you know, third up now let's

say was second by a head last time and a grade one.

Seems to sit just off the pace. I ran last time without Lasix

for that long mile and a quarter and it's going to obviously run

from without it today. So I liked that nice performance

and that's certainly something you want to take into account

when you're handicapping a day like this and at Keeneland the

to Mighty heart for Josie. Carol is Oprah one here at

Keeneland coming off. A layoff usually races that

tracks like Woodbine has been a goal.

She parked before kind of all over the place that she's

definitely a horse. That has a good bit of early

speed. So expect to see her out there

in front. Aunt.

And then the three horse proxy for Mike.

Siddim could often a Bryant Hernandez Junior.

Literally last time in the, in the grade, to, in the New

Orleans, but she I think left a little bit to be desired.

She lost by two lengths, to put a second but I don't know.

I thought with her the numbers that she is running some of her

races. She certainly, he pardoned me.

This is a cold and a long day, he deserves to be included in

the conversation. So interested to see what

proxies going to do but I yeah, I'm on 52.

Very mega-diverse similar here we landed on Warren on top ends

up being two to one in the morning line.

Not so shocking, Pratt and Cox like she mentioned nose out in

that send Anita handicap. Frankly gets lesser company.

Here should be able to best this field.

Coxa Pratt likes you mentioned early returns 60% at this beat,

which is awesome. The proxy read really well, the

New Orleans classic like she meant, she mentioned and lost to

a super game Olympiad. So there's no shame in that one.

I think he's likely a second, or Third place runner in this shot,

but should be right there at the end.

I actually like the for dynamic one in the second spot.

Second off the layoffs, set up well for this race.

And I think he's the second most likely winner here.

So, I actually went 5 for 3 in the Ben Ali.

All right. Well, that rhyme 543 in the Ben

Ali. The only thing I hope that there

is you laughter. No, you don't get to say, okay,

after you laugh. That's not.

Okay. That's that's what.

That's what met. My wife does the same thing

she's like, haha. That's not funny.

Dad, I would enjoy them. I guess I did.

I did this, we'll put that up to start.

I did a joke. There you go.

There it is. And I would show it, but it's in

another room. But run with the mighty heart

book by Jennifer Morrison, about Mighty heart is available on

Amazon and other fine retailers, Jennifer Morrison from Canadian

Thoroughbred. One of my good friends in the

industry. It's a one-eyed horse.

It's a cool story about the family that the bread, the

horse. So it's already on bookshelves

and I Obviously loved that horse.

Being a would buy a horse, but I think we're, it's going to be

too tough. There they go.

Yeah, we're gonna move on to the gray to Elk Horn.

Of course, this horse is a route race on the turf and sometimes

will produce some horses that we might see in the Breeders Cup.

Later on most most time I would say we got Channel maker who is

95 years old in this race. We got some wood Volante Urbana,

need to drink so label Aunt. A alright so I mean at this

point Channel maker should be a drink.

I think so. Well, just based on a gel makers

older than the show. Yes.

There we go. Who do we like in this one?

Megan I knew you were gonna ask me.

So listen No One. What happened was so what what

what happened was by 43 in the back Channel maker?

So much is so disappointing for me.

I Tried to give him so many chances.

I feel like we've had a bad breakup and I just can't but

also he's a class because our Mars in its feel like this is

the lightest grade to ever. I feel like and so I, I don't

know, I just did a great three and he went No, I don't like it.

So, I don't know. There's also a really

interesting case scenario because no put your hand down

because there's so many need, the lead horses and channel

maker there just is no going around it.

They tried to take them off the pace, he hated it, he runs with

his head up like he's already over the bit trying to get out

from the right. He's like don't judge me.

I'm just doing my thing. And so you have Channel, make

sure that's going to be in front.

You have Phantom currency who's in need the lead horse.

You have two Emmys who's a new Khalid horse.

So you have all these horses who I think are going to be out

there battling for the front and just really especially Channel

makers, are can't be right back and so I think you're probably

going to end up with a horse you said it's just off the pace and

therefore probably a little bit of a long shot or at least a

little bit more value. Right?

Sole of your channel makers, going to take this much

attention? No, I don't think so liberal but

I do I do like them as voice at a nice reasonable 521 price.

I think the stocking trip is going to be helpful.

I like Back that the horse is already placed in some graded

stakes races. You know, has one of the

distance twice is one of those horses I mentioned.

So I think I am for the first time going to not that channel

maker in the only race that he can win in, like, the past five

years, which means he's going to win because I didn't let him

mismanagement. Okay, go ahead Louis.

I also had multiple warrants up No, it is.

It is not a needless that was absolutely warranted before.

Listen, lady others needless or necessary.

I know it hasn't won since October of 2000.

He hasn't won since October 2012 but no, no, I don't know how you

generate. That one win in October, 20, 20,

when was the last time before that?

Becky, 10 cases. Previously, the smell answer.

Yeah. But thank you.

He just, he doesn't. He's inconsistent.

Mega just said, no, she's withdrawing, that win.

All right, so I agree with you - that 911, graded Stakes Boys on

top here. Here's the reason.

No horse doctor was fully from No Horses gone gay to wire

auditor phrase at Keeneland this meeting period.

And so I've got Ben has boy on top Umberto rispoli.

Welcome to Kentucky. That's our guy.

That's not true. That's not true.

That's not true. Hold on a minute.

Is there one? Absolutely went Gates a wire and

on the turf there's yes, golden Bells a Turf horse.

What are you talking about? Okay, it around raised in Paris.

It is her for out. Sorry sorry.

Sorry not a Sprint. Yeah.

Oh a spreader. Would Gates a wire?

Breaking news the and so Roberto Mike maker 2021 completely offer

bonus buy which is really interesting but like Megan likes

to point out. Turf wars third up.

See what I did there. Mike and then write a close

second. Last two times out can run a lot

of different types of races so I trust a bear to on the turf

channel marker. Of course, I don't know if he'll

ever win again, but here we are. And then I actually think the

for Phantom currency is the second most likely winner here.

Brian Lynch irad. There was concern last time out

of Gulfstream Park that he wouldn't be able to be fast

enough for the mile and he got it.

Done one at a mile and three eighths before that.

So I'm the horse. I'm leaving off his Two Emmys, I

just don't trust the connections and I think he'll try to break

toward the front end as well. So I'm going to go against that.

I'm 145 in the Elkhorn, there you go.

Alright so there's the Elkhorn quick-pick real quick on raced

in Megan. Who do you like 9mm 1A?

All right, Louis, I had the nine, the one, a one thing and

then 3/4 as well for me. All right, so Louise late pick

three is the signaling the five and the been E1 45 in race 913

49. Which is a two dollar pick three

at $24 feel good about that. I do actually feel good about

that because I do trust warrant very much in the fawful three in

the Ben Ali actually want cherry pie afterwards go make it right

is probably going to be a probably going to play a pick

for if I'm going to I mean you could play Pick Three I guess to

do with that 50 Cent minimum but I almost feel Field.

Like this is one of those where, of course, again Channel makers

going to win because I'm not going to like single him or kick

him or whatever. But I mean I think it's going to

be such a speed to land race 9. Like I almost want to hit the

all button there and just see who's still, you know, not

movers to still moving forward at the end.

Especially since if you have, I have two horses that I like the

9mm the 11a in there. But I think you spread and

raised nine and then you know you keep it reasonable race.

Eight if If they re 7. So you just find a couple of

horses, but I think you can probably make yourself like a,

try not to be so expensive in the pick for your pick.

For, if you get a long shot in, was it the race?

I said, just graduated, whatever reason then it worked out for

you. If you don't, then you're not

going to make as much, but it's kind of one of those risky

sequences where it feels like it could.

Implode I we're gonna move out to Oak Lawn and we're going to

start with the apple blossom, which is going to have a whole

lot of horses that you're going to recognize here and then a

short field, but a good solid feel that's having to put this

down because my fingers are burning.

Yes, but shout out to Single Barrel.

Cigars, I went over an hour again.

All right, there you go, you go. This is a grade 1, Apple

Blossom, handicap in Milan. The 16th on the dirt for

Phillies, four year, olds and up.

Look at that list right there. That's, that's 55.

Good hair horses. We see the trust.

Coming back, the heavy favorite Cece's there, clearly are, of

course. Lois, you're kind of the Philly,

whisper. We like here.

I like a mayor awesome. It's different than a Philly

cheese. I would try to be bold here.

I'm going to use CC and only see see here wondering if I still

got it in the way that she needs to win this race.

I'll take CC, who seems to like Oak, Lawn over to turns, let's

go. By the way, let us go one last.

Here cc-1, the year before Megan go ahead I think it's the true

scope still a better horse. I mean I've never been a huge

fan of CC and obviously I had been wrong sometimes.

Especially she seems like she's been in good form in the past

year before that it was kind of hit or miss with her but mostly

Miss but uh I guess so like a fine wine from Mike McCarthy

barn but the truth is I just think it's faster overall I

think you know, to see They took care of her.

They gave her some time off. I love it.

She came back in agree. Three was like a broader bag in

those small, with some steaks, razor, like a lavender.

He was protected or something like that.

You know, they bring her back at the graded Stakes level, she's

obviously, ten cents on the dollar.

So, I mean, let's be real. She was, there was nobody else,

I was going to beat her in there.

She wanted by three legs. I think it was the perfect prep

for this. If you look at the fractions of

that race, they were actually slower than usual for at least

in the beginning stages. And then she was able to kind of

pick it up a little bit towards the end.

And to run similar time. So what she had before for the,

my on the 16th. I think that was great.

I don't want to see her, you know, break her own record at

each, at each, you know, call of the race, right?

Because I think that you're just prepping for the grade one.

And that's what they did here. So it really seems like the

perfect route to get a win in this type of a Race.

So, I think You know where's the Jose Ortiz knows are really

well. Obviously I rather cheese has

been her kind of regular Rider but Jose has been on for the

past couple of times and I think the Ortiz Brothers just

understand what this horse needs.

What's the apple blossom last year?

The best race of the year with her beating Monomoy girl and so

Scott ever it was addressing everything's awesome.

Really good race? Yeah.

Are we going to move on to race eight actually with that?

That's raised five. So race eight is the Oakland

stakes in. This is a added as a Sprint in

it so I have it wrong. So it's a mile and an eighth on

the dirt and it says on the show, she's sorry, I'm sorry.

Let's see, I have on the show. She's I have the Oakland As a

six-and-a-half furlong on the dirt.

Oh man, I screwed that up. Yeah, that's so that was wrong.

Oh oh, that feels good. All right, go ahead.

Why do I get to go first after screwing up the show sheet?

Because there's only seven horses and we're going to can

like this Sunita. I go ahead, Megan.

All right. So first of all, this is not a

Stakes race. This is a non to life,

essentially, because with the exception of Clancy's pistol,

nobody in here has one. I'm sorry and home-brewed, well,

I guess there's a few, it feels like a non to life.

Anyways, I do love this field. I went with the three couch, our

who gets the blinkers on brutal force, a and for Roger, ooh,

last time goes an improvement, but it seems like they're kind

of trying to figure out what's going to work for this. - for

Homebrew, I think red fox going to do what he does on days like

this and races. Like this ran without laces last

time is going to get it back today.

Which I think could be helpful, considering the worst finish up

the track finishing 10th beaten by eight legs.

I don't know if that was that he didn't have Lasix for that.

The track was sloppy, even those over a good track already or

what was up? But I just, I think it's

probably between those two horses.

All right, Louis, yeah, I'm with Megan.

Who doesn't like any of the fields today that this is not a

terrific cannot turn. This is not last weekend.

These fields are short. I don't like them as much as I

hate these races because these are not the words that I'm

excited about these are, it's just like, oh, you have

something Guess we'll run it here because we can't run on

Derby Day. Do you know what I mean?

Yeah, no, I hear you. I hate this car.

It's interesting, Megan, and I have the same horse on top here.

Couch are the five to one. We're all forced a runner.

I think it's because we love the same angle, which is coming out

of a maiden win. And so blinkers on 20% winners

for Road, Upper State as well. No, son of Uncle Mo here.

I agree with Megan that that's your most likely winner.

Homebrew is absolutely a play here with those.

Authorities the skipper to might be a longer shot that hits the

board here, but but trainer done Ortiz is terrible.

First time with the trainer and it seems to be kind of a throw

in to get some of the cash. And so for me it's three and

four and Megan. How do you feel about Stellar

tap? I just that horse.

I just, I don't know. I mean, I like seller tap when

he ran seven furlongs Yeah, they're just okay I grew.

Thank you. This race is a mile at a, I

think it's too far for them. I think if they brought it back

to sprinting or maybe even a flat mile, which he seemed to

perform better at that last time you ran, you know, second at

least. I just, I don't understand for a

horse that like so clearly has I mean I guess he's at rapid got

Battaglia of drawer on the bottom side.

So you think there's more distance there?

But that obviously see this person's a Hall of Fame trainer

but I just like, do what works for the horse and what works for

the horses seven furlongs maybe, am I I'll well, listen, at least

this race is only hundred fifty thousand dollars because race 11

is the great 2:00 handicap and this is a million dollar race

in. This could be, in my opinion,

one of the worst million-dollar field you ever gonna see to

write. So I don't agree, really?

I actually like it, you got Rated R Superstar who's older

than Channel maker 521. Like this, isn't there a rule in

certain? Is it New York maybe or they

were Trying to make it where if a horse is 10 years old you

can't run it, right? Like this is going to be really

sad for something. Sports was like I'm gonna go

with our boys going to go. Well I tried.

Wait no, I am too. That's my top pick.

All right, we're good. There we go.

I promise. She'll be yeah I mean it's hard

to really like soaked Lon. It's one to hear this track and

is finished in the top 36 times that the distance is 2 for 3.

I like the fact that he's got some speed because there's

plenty of verses that are going to sit off the pace here.

You get a nice 821 price has been running pretty consistently

recently, David Cohen knows the source and yeah I think the

system system II, think the eight horse also Fearless

obviously a nine-to-five. Make some sense have Fletcher

that last race was pretty good and he said some good races in

his career. Also, he is oh-fer two here.

Do Quan only 1/4 of the distance, though.

He seems to have prepared really well, but I think the case

scenario is really interesting because Thomas Shelby Seems to

be almost Plainsman is going to recover, some of his prior speed

that he's had. He looks like a lone speed

situation. I don't know if they're gonna

let him get up, you know, so far out in front but it definitely

seems like he's going to be You know, leading the pack at least

for most of the the the race. And so I'm really curious

because I think it's going to be a little bit of a Mad Dash and a

Scramble for everybody else. So I thought about if you were

playing this one, you know, included in some of your pick,

three years or whatever that spreading in this race.

I think this is one of those where you really give some

consideration to some of these other horses because there's

really not a bad field. You have a lot of these horses

that have been kind of traveling the Oaklawn path to get to this

million dollar race. You've got the SX, you got the

You're back, it's just been a rematch between those and

they've kind of played musical chairs, essentially radar

Superstar one last time before that planes in one.

So yeah, I think I think you could make a case for a number

of horses. I beg you throw out that last

race with Idol, who, you know, is a grade one winner as well,

in the Santa Anita handicap. So I don't know.

I almost think you hit the all button here.

I think Megan is a terrific handicapper and a lovely person,

and the idea of using the All button when you can single

Fearless in this race is about as bad.

An idea is you can have in the Oaklawn handicap.

I think that Fearless isn't running against a horse of the

quality of Speakers Corner, that was needless Merchants are right

actually that and I think you're not going to see any of the

competition that he's run against before when he runs

against horses like South Bend Oregon.

It's greatest honor. What have you?

He wins and so my sense is that he's going to win here.

Give me the two turns. Give me, by the way, the last

two times he's gone through turns.

These one, give me Fearless Jose Ortiz, as a single in the

Oakland. Hey are you telling me Megan

that you feel? This is a great too.

Yeah, I really like this is the it's great 3 plus for me, it's

great three. Yeah.

Thank you plus. Yeah, alright.

Well, just personal know we almost got interrupted by my

Daughter coming home from work and we will have a big family

announcement that will probably be on Twitter.

I would imagine coming very shortly from her.

Oh yeah. Okay.
