Full Transcript

To welcome in Tuesday edition. Horse racing.

Happy hour here at Horseshoe Indianapolis alongside reaching

racing. Rachel not reaching reysol

reaching reysol. It's a delicious one.

I blew your Revell. Thanks for hanging out with us

today. Ahead of Caesar Stakes day

tomorrow. The opener of the big grass

races here at Indianapolis at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

I'm still getting used to that. By the way everybody is everyone

really is not do not yell at me for that.

However you know what I've seen some people on TV G which is Ali

sneaky is they will mention Indiana Grand and they'll say

previously, and when I'm talking about this race, it wasn't even

a grant. So they're technically not

wrong. Yeah, I like that the word

previously coming in very handy here and so we're going to talk

about actually is the light pick five tomorrow that will start in

race? I think in race five.

Yeah. With an allowance rooms

actually. Before we get to that though, I

have to ask name change, of course right?

Horseshoe Indianapolis. We have purged ourselves of all

the Indiana Grand things. Yes, yes.

They're all And while I was on maternity leave, everybody took

them all from me. We found some Thirsty Thursdays,

okay? I didn't we?

Yep, you and I the shrine of kuzey and that's all that the

Untamed Thursday, we that's all this last, very not tamed on

Thursday and integrate out horseshoe Indianapolis.

And I love the Horseshoe, though.

I mean, I think course, you know the logos do like that's not the

issue here, that it's not the logo.

It's just how many make changes do we need?

I know. It's all right, so it's so just

an update on the wagering menu. So the first race now instead of

Starting with the pick five starting with a pick for, right?

But I think it's been a really fruitful move for you.

It has it's been really really popular and so we saw over a

hundred thirty five thousand dollars better to race one

today. So looking forward to tomorrow

to the stakes day that will be really exciting.

Lots of money in that early part of the car, a couple of diamond

claimers that kind of thing at the early part of the car

tomorrow. So if you want to check that

out, that's where you really can find some value.

Just to give you an idea today, four, five, six, horse Fields,

minimum pay on the pick four days could be $500.

So yeah, 50 one-dollar horse won.

So I think Probably tomorrow could be a similar case.

I like that we have an all Stakes picked for also know

that's right. The gamblers love that and I

mean take five is really popular and this allows is really nice

race to set it off. But I always love when we have

all Stakes pick fours because it just seems like people really

get into that. And I appreciate that the end

the sequences with a with a Stakes race.

Right? So often you get stuck with a

claim or something at the. Yeah, exactly.

That's exactly right now. That'll be a good part for us

tomorrow. Pick five take out, right?

I always remind people. One of the lowest in the land

eleven point nine, nine percent under 12% so definitely

vegetable especially day like tomorrow we are looking at some

wet weather for tomorrow and so I do think there's a chance for

example that allow its will be off the turf right to get it

ready for those later races, the to Indiana State idiot up bread,

steaks before that are going to be on the dirt so that there's

no change there for at least four where they're going to be

running. And so, just look for those Turf

races later in the day, my sense is it's going to be have to be

really freaking Rhett for them to have to be really, really

well. A three or three or four, but I

think since I'm just going to go ahead and say it, there are some

storms in the forecast, so just keep an eye on the weather, but

we have ran last year, we were in the Preston Madden steaks on

a wet Turf. So, I mean, we'll probably save

it, like, we just alluded to. Yeah.

If you, if you look in those on there in the previous for this

place, you'll see, yielding Course once in a while, right?

So it's not as though. They won't try it here.

That doesn't happen. We do try to save it though.

Whenever there is a ton of rain then we'll just take it off,

which can be Fuses the heck out of people.

But what am I going to do? I'm just I'm fighting that

battle for the rest of my life because we will start did raise

five with that allowance. It's a high-level allowance to

Total Turf winners among the ten starters tomorrow, and that is a

forty one thousand dollar purse for Indiana, sired horses, and

by Indiana stallions 3 or 3 years old and up, which is never

won those two races. I think there's a good chance

that this one's going to be off the turf, in which case It's a

very bendable Pick 5 because I think there are two horses that

you really look for here. I think the five over-the-top

Justice is actually really interesting entry here.

Good experience over the dirt. And at two, turns here at

Horseshoe Indianapolis, highest lifetime speed fig is over a

wet. Go actually.

It's so I love that about over-the-top Justice.

I would also look at the 10 grand in Bay who is slated to

try Turf for the first time but if Chariton glacially, slow

start up here. But on the year hitting near

twenty percent. So if you take those Indiana

numbers are actually hitting really, really well down south.

And so I'm hoping to pick up some of that form getting back.

I would really concentrate on those 2 5 and 10.

If we're off the terpenes really I like the for Nate's

heartthrob. If you look off the turf has a

couple of seconds two and a third on and off track.

So I have the for actually on top in that race.

Now, I look at this the other day before, I even knew that

there was rain. So I'm just going off, strictly

off how I see the race right now.

If it rains, I always take the morning to go.

My pics that day and switch them up, just a little bit and do my

key plays and everything. That's something that a lot of

people realize like today I got a tweet and they were like, oh

the 13s and your pics. Yes.

Well, when I handicap this morning at 9 a.m. the 13 was it

and I did just wanted to include it, in case it was scratched.

So but yeah, I think Nate's heartthrob is definitely one

that I'm going to include the 5 and the 10 for sure, probably

going to be on my ticket. But this field of tin depending

on how many scratch after that is, how you're going to be able

to start. It off this pick this Pick 5,

but definitely, there's a lot of scratches.

You could pick one of these horses that you think has the

best numbers on and off track and try to go with that.

And maybe a backup is how I would treat this one.

If we get a low lucky, we get to stay on the turf here.

I'm actually going to try to beat the for Nate's heartthrob,

I think trabert Rock Trader, Robert.

Goren doesn't do two things. Well that he's asking this horse

to do, he doesn't win on Turf, he's over 21 and he goes dirt to

Turf at zero percent over the last 18.

So big ass for a horse that's going to be 9 to 5 to 21 kind of

bet if it's The turf. Give me the seven Mansfield

tiger here trainer. Marvin Johnson comes in second

off the layoffs at 26%. He's already hitting it. 20% for

the Meetup here. Had to move to the to Peta, at

Turf way to break is made in. But I like that, it's a return

to a non dirt surface here, and so if we get that move, we stay

on the turf there, I'll play the seven and that's horses that

transfer, you know, from the poly do like the turf a little

bit. So this one's, you know, never

ran on the Indiana Turf trying the grass for the first time,

but did break the maidan on Paulie.

So some promise there was probably a Marvin's, the Making

almost certainly. Okay.

So we'll start with, we'll get into the stakes here in verse 6

which is the Sagamore sired so this is a hundred thousand

dollar Perseus did notice. I mean you guys are crushing it

up here. Now this was the 75,000 dollar

race maybe last year two years ago, even right?

So that you know, the money's in the purses.

Now this is for Indiana side. Three-year-olds.

Okay. So open company here as far as

geldings Colts or Phillies. And so I think that there's a

major player in here and then you would have to convince me

pretty heavily to look another place.

How do you feel about it? I agree to it, mr.

Chaos just looks like the one here 343.

Broke the maiden at first asking my seven links.

I mean, you don't really have to go through the PPS, really.

Very far to see that this one's numbers are all standing as

well. So I look at Birds net, speed

figures in there. Good, I like pickle feet.

Yep, I agree with my pick of the day, it ran and broke the

maiden. And I had a hunch play and

honestly I put it in, I think for second just because I love

the name and it looked like it was training well as you know,

to So coming off that one back April, 19th coming back again

here. One month out a nice timing.

I think, for this three-year-old Colt, so I like pickle fee.

I'm definitely going to include him as a backup.

Even I wouldn't mind if you singled, but you know what?

I don't really the one thing I don't mind younger versus older.

I don't want that kind of stuff doesn't bother me.

The one thing that does bother me is making it four in a row,

even though a couple of these were last year.

It's just tough to do that. And the At the luck gods or

whatever you want to call it, but two in a row, you know,

going from an allowance 126 company and beating this group

is going to be a big ask for mr. Chaos even though he looks the

best on paper so I'd probably on my thing I'm going to do 16.

Okay? The only thing about pickle feet

that really bothered me with workout times.

Actually 38 s 34 longer before that up bucks six-minute six

over five furlongs, don't love the look of that one.

I like the March first one though.

Oh I understand those are good one well and then you know

follow that up in April with a win.

So it's not as though you know it looks bad back then just

looks a little bit slower since then you're right.

Here's how cheers. Yeah, we didn't years ago here

at the track last year in the crowd Ambassador listed.

Six comes back in. It opened company 3 and up winds

at the allowance level by open links, over older horses.

Some that have actually come back and perform very well since

then. And so I'm going to I'm going to

lean on mr. Cass three year old gelding

horse. Then you might hear a lot here.

Frankly, in the coming years. I'm gonna give you guys a long

shot in this race wishy-washy who won with Marcelino aboard

just gets John kitten Court. Just last out, broke the made in

this first time with winners, I get it's a Stakes race but this

is one that I'm going to play my Exotics.

I'm talking pick five, ticket, maybe not wishy-washy, a flower

crushes in these Indiana, bread States, you guys and he's sneaky

good. So be sure to put a little bit

of money, maybe in a super try for wishy-washy.

If you want an another long shot horse, Here the eight, high

cotton, Justice coming out of that.

Coming out of another open allowance race at the five for a

long distance wins by open links with Hosea.

Jesus were coming. I can remember I'm sorry.

Jesus, Jesus, you know, Jose, what's also?

I was thinking he's casting. Yeah, I know he's peppering the

board 39 runs. He's already hit the board's

twenty times here. Over 50% and so just just an

absolute crushing starts to be. If you're looking for a longer

shot maybe on the wet course here.

Horse unfortunately is 0 for 3 on the wet course.

Things did not like it but if you wanted one that maybe maybe

it's muddy by then something like that.

You might land on the eight hike on Justice, our track is a track

that when the surface changes it gets a little random out here

with horses, got up. Alright.

So this will move to the seventh race than this is the Swift, the

Swifty sired Phillies, it's a hundred thousand dollar race as

well. Another five and a half for A

longer Sprint for Indiana, sired three-year-old, Phillies, in

this case. And unlike the Colts I die, and

geldings. I think this is a much, much

more gas, more open field here. Yes, for sure.

Six. And I like the 12, even though

it's for you and I went on the same horse stuff, I don't know

who I'm going to put on top yet. Like I said, I did this a couple

days ago. I didn't have any odds or

anything. It was just on the overnight,

but definitely a nice looking through your old Filly by

readies image. Comment, just really consistent

girl. I mean, heck, she's not only not

hit the board once so finished in the top 30, pretty

impressive. So, Lily V.

And I like unbridled Victory, George Leonard.

Great guy just ran a horse in the Breeders Cup.

You guys might remember and then my hunch play Long play in this

one that I think I am going to put on my ticket is muddy boots.

Manny and sippy have really good numbers together.

Cipriano all such as well and these non graded, stakes races

in one the made and I thought pretty impressively even though

it was a five horse race, she just looked so Classy like she

had done it a million times when she won.

So I've definitely put an asterisk beside her.

So muddy. Boots is my long shot.

Yeah, that's one to look at and we tell people on the show,

don't just stare at the speed figure and assume, you know, the

race 101 and a Pfeiffer longer when you win by open links means

that you probably weren't pressing at the end.

And so, she was probably pretty comfortable.

Probably ran closer to a 59 or a minute there in the five

furlongs, I laid it on a bunch of horses here but I totally

agree about the 12. Little Evie who breaks from the

outside rein in an open allowance.

Last time to talk about With the Colts last in the last race,

only missed by a length and a half against older competition.

This is second off the layoffs for a trainer came Hammond, who

hits it. 19% and the with those types of Runners having a pop

Health early in the meeting at 24% here at Horseshoe

Indianapolis. And if you wanted to spread here

and I think you really could, I will be, I'm going to include

the two, three, four, and six here in my longer tickets.

I'm actually going to use all five of those horses here.

I'll give you some examples here, Roxy son, One Last Time

against open D at the five for a long distance in a minute, over

a length over older company. No trust was in that race as

well. So you see some of these these

girls coming back to race against each Victory.

A the to the right, so John Court stays on there, right?

And we know the jug cord and those talked about this about

that he does it out of the gate, he's ready to go, great in these

sorts of Sprints, this could be where you get the lead keep

Elite, especially if it's wet. We see that a lot.

I think acutely he's got a serious shot here.

Want her last two Last time, by the way, over a month ago and so

interesting that if we see a muddy go with acutely, coming

here, you get to Sean, Parker, lose, B, Bryson butterfly.

And I was actually thinking about this last night, when I

was looking at the form, that he was so good.

When he was here. We took him for granted.

We did, he immediately graduated to that Marilyn circuit.

Yep. And now he's doing great over

there. It is he I haven't even used.

Always like 16, 17 percent. That's competitive.

Absolutely, especially, when you're in that just coming out

of that, out of the, The Apprentice stage and so do He's

been doing really, really well you know this this really has

been run a really really great Ron Draper, not great off the

laughs, but doesn't have a lot of experience either.

We see him a lot more with Quarter.

Horses, doesn't mean she doesn't have a shot here especially with

the Sean Parker who's been riding very very well here this

meat hitting hitting the board a ton needs to pick it up in the

wind department but with the Sean that's that's almost never

a real question. Everyone knows his way around

horses. He's one quarter horse leading

titles and he's had a couple good Thoroughbred so I wouldn't

discount that at all, that's right.

And then other six. Who also won over a sloppy go

last year at the Indiana. Stallion series it for the

Phillies is unbridled Victory, the six Marcelino preserve.

Pedroza here, along with George Leonard, who you mentioned,

Cowboy George get back in here. Not great or not.

Great first time with trainer here and not great off the light

off with George but if you doubt him, good luck.

Getting this place horse. Just trained over a sloppy.

Go by the way, beginning of this month, and then came back.

We're at a 59 second. Almost the almost the bullet.

Over the five for a long work on May 10th, here it is.

And so, I really interested actually this race.

I think notice that that work was Onslaught, nice.

Yeah. As wide open as I've seen in any

of these pictures is very, very cool.

And so, especially if we get that off track.

I think a real chance at a price in race.

Seven. This Swifty.

Sired. Phillies.

All right. Moving on Race.

Eight. Then getting into the getting

into the big one. So he's used to be a hundred

thousand dollar races and never look at 150,000 dollar races.

Not he's not he's our the the major Turf races to open the

season here at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Fifty thousand dollars for the Phillies, something cool on the

card here. Back-to-back Philly races, which

I don't know. I'm kind of a nerd for those

things. It's okay.

Of course, here, is that, right? And so the Mi starts a little

bit behind the Finish Line. Cool.

And that's why when we do my own 70, and always scratches and it

ends up being on the surface for a mile and a half.

So yeah, well, there are 70, yeah, Mi 70.

So there you go. So it's just a little bit behind

that you get a little bit of a rut up into that first turn.

So you have a horse on the outside, not the end of the

world, you actually get a little bit of a chance to make.

Remove Rachel, did you lay it on anybody here?

You know what? I can't decide between.

This is an interesting race. First of all, I rode Artis is

coming here to ride, which I don't think.

If he shows up, that's cool. It's gets his writing.

Paco. Lopez is going to be here.

You're directly. Yep.

Amber was fully very excited to see some of these guys.

Some of them have come here shirts.

We switched obviously with their at Churchill and whatnot but I'm

really excited about who's coming to ride and I'm really

excited about this race and Caesars even even though it's a

little bit, It short of a field but I like the three.

I think, off the top of my head, I like the to, I like the 6 and

then I don't know how I'm going to put in after that, but I'm

going to try to find a little bit of a long shot, and I might

even go with the longest shot. One of the longest shots in the

morning, line is louder than words is might be my big long

shot that I put in, for my Exotics.

But yeah, the three Bravo kitten is who I really like Safi.

Joseph looks really good. I know that the two is coming

out of six company and this one is Untested, but honestly,

fresher and really, really impressive and tough company.

It Keeneland, those Turf races are no joke, the fields were

full twelve and eleven horse fields, and very nice s with

Umberto and he comes here to ride this Philly.

So I think that's a huge. You know, three-year-old

daughter of kittens. Joy, gotta love the ramseys

Katie used to ride here. Love Katie, shout out to my girl

and her cute little baby that she has.

That's going to be my Houston's future.

Your wife subtle both already, you're one of those moms, you

just like marriages for your babies at the same time.

You always say that as a joke like like my girlfriend that's a

couple months older than him and we're already getting the

matching outfits like you have to do that as a mom, right?

But yeah. So I'm thinking three to six and

then I'm gonna throw in the nine lolloping.

Brad Cox always crushes. I would not be shocked at this.

One comes over ready to go high. Ran a really nice race since it

made me break a back and February but just like you said,

Brad Cox. He has come in here and he does

really well in Indiana so well everywhere, but he really knows

how to play some so though that one I'm definitely gonna throw

in. So that's me. 326 probably and

then he'll marry long shot you and I have the same top three.

I'm actually most interested in Bravo kitten because we're

getting back to a mile and I think she doesn't want much more

than a mile. That mile on US 68 the violent

3/16, that's where we saw the faint who's within a length?

Both of the times at a mile and just didn't have enough to kick

in Finish better rispoli? Not a great start at Churchill

Downs, so far. But I think that a fresh course,

here actually will give him a chance to pick up some of that

Turf form that we really expected from him.

When we watched him in California, I totally agree

about the to a little love and luck it running at very good

company. Like you mentioned in those

stakes races, including in the Florida, Oaks in that grade 3,

Part with Paco Lopez only lost by four and a half lengths.

There should Factor here already has a listed Stakes win, and I

do like that they're bringing in Paco Lopez for the day.

I think that I'm going to include the six and seven that I

wrote in my notes. I'm going to feel dumb.

If those connections win. Brad Cox and brother moment is

Brendon. Walsh anatomist gets a man,

really limited sample size here to 43 but overall 19 percent

between those two guys and Adam start to get more of his mouths

at Churchill Downs, which It tells me something as well.

A lot of those mounts down the fairgrounds as well.

We've seen those Fairgrounds shippers do well everywhere.

So not just here but also, you know, Churchill Downs, in other

places. It's been interesting to watch

them ship out and do really, really well as in those spots.

And so I'll go with those four, but if you wanted to make a case

for other horses, I would totally believe you.

I do. I do think they're thrown the.

I want to say they're throwing the blinkers on the three Bravo

kitten to try to get her the lead.

Yep. Because I think they want her to

be out front at this mile distance because they see her as

Truly a mile problem not doing anything else like that and so I

think the Savage Joseph just says Hey blinkers on on front 20

gilding course. It's going to be really hard to

catch up right. Get that dig in.

My sense is they really think the provocation could go out

front and stay out front as much as we said it's going to be

yielding watch only right? Right.

I'm here for it, that's fine. By the way, I want to be really

clear about to give out the ticket later, if they're on the

turf for the allowance race. I'm not touching the pig 5

because I think that that's her, phrase is ridiculous.

It means that you can get a price really competitive, you

got 100 bucks or 100 bucks the throat of pick five.

That's that's a that's a spot where you get a Series pressure

I think it'll be well well over $1000 well over $2000 maybe but

I do think the possible buzzkill of the sequence could be in this

this final race, the Caesars hundred fifty thousand dollars.

Three year olds a mile on that Turf again.

Do we have the same buzzkill horse?

I went with the three in here. Well, I'm going against Tommy be

which I don't think a lot of We're going to do and honestly,

I don't know why I keep going against Brad, Cox.

Like, but really the more I look at it.

Tyler gospel eons. Hot.

Yep. As of late.

This one was a nicer to Milan 16th on a good good.

Turf course, I might add and I really just think that Tommy be

is going to not like a not like anything, but hard grass and

it's not that that's not that tough out here right now.

I mean, it's still soft. It's been spring, not that it It

would be yielding or good or whatever, but it's not really

firm. Like it is in the South already

probably. So, and he just ran April 29th.

I'm going with play action pass on top now.

I have no clue about the rest. Listen, I did hear that play

action pass. We'll just ran Sunday, right?

And so, he might be out given that I probably might end up

with the, for stitched is pretty interesting, coming out of that,

Churchill win. This is a tough group.

American pure just came out of wind.

So I'm going to right now because I honestly have just

handicapped and we're about to get a race call in the

background of our podcast today is honestly, I don't know yet

about the Caesars. Takes to tell you the truth, I

looked at it, I handicapped it. I know there's at least one

scratch in this field. So I'm just going to go ahead

and tell you that I like these horses in the middle 3, 4 5, 6

are the ones I like, depending on who stays in and what happens

with the weather? I don't know.

But it's Obviously, one of those right?

Because it's just an a horse. So, Rachel has a more developed

program with more of a description in here.

If you're on my form, it just says 43, year-old tell you the

weight conditions or anything from the weights of the horses.

So a lot of times it has to deal with if they've won at a certain

level coming into this race. And so if you see a horse

carrying 123 instead of 119, that means that that horse is

wanted a higher level than the Is that are carrying less

weight. And so what are those horses?

This time you be the 45 that you mentioned stitched is one of

those horses as well. Mention it Mi on the turf at

Churchill Downs, is a to turn race.

Okay, horse did have the rail went out front stayed out front.

Obviously they're going to try to do that.

So the question is, is Toby be going to try to go with the

horse. My sense is know, they're happy

to be in the middle of the pack there.

Stalking third, fourth fifth, that kind of position and just

try to make a race of it at the end if you want to the local

horse, it's pretty clearly The American pure going to the turf

to try. This one.

The the thing I have to say that I'm interested in that hasn't

come up. Yet is Rodolfo such as Solomon

whose shipping and two horses for these races from Laurel who

have equipped are not Turf horses.

So shake them loose. Has the seven, he was actually

on the Preakness Trail and ran in the Federico.

Tessio ran third, he was actually two point four, two one

that day. So almost the favorite

essentially. Okay, in the first race, the in

the excuse me. The Horseshoe Indianapolis which

is for the Phillies Embrace 8, he has click to confirm both of

these. Both of these horses are going

to be written by on Hell, cruise with are flying in from from

Pimlico actually to ride these horses.

She's coming out of high level. Essentially either listed Stakes

or optional claimers, he's moving them to Turf to try these

races. Those could be your wild cards

in the weekend. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Jump up. Shake them loose has a really

nice cold. Frankly bought the horse for A

thousand dollars. He's made almost math.

Just doesn't support the private terms which is a Preakness prep

going into the Federico Tessie, osis, serious horse right on the

Maryland circuit and so something to watch when we get

there tomorrow. If they do for some reason move

to the main track. I think that the nine is a

single you take Kuchar and you move on with her widowed per se

analysis. Shark coming out of Oakland Park

running in some random the Oakland listed Stakes last time.

Plus Alex grade wood winter comes in on that as well.

And also, I wouldn't discount the other reason why I think, if

the threes out, I see they're going to be the fourth 5 for me,

but flow comes every year for Indiana Derby and for some of

our big Stakes he knows the truck really well, I Rod not so

much, you know what I mean? So and Vincent just want to race

today. So definitely I have found.

I've been here for 10 years and I have found that a jockey that

Comes in and rides here. I don't care how good they are.

It's it's not like going to church.

I wanted we have one exception last year.

That was the Indiana Oaks when Flavia and Pratt came back and

won the Indiana Oaks out of nowhere.

That is the only exception I can think Derby Days.

Okay, there you go. So, that's not very much, and I

think that is kind of put a negative in my, my heart that

day because I was It's a little bit wild sometimes so yeah, I am

definitely going to finalize my opinion but it's going to be

those bulk. That you pretty much what you

just talked about is my game plan real quick.

My base pick four is ten bucks so single in the first one mr.

Chaos and then I have taught me about last as a single and then

put the rest in the kids college fund.

Yeah right. And then I have five horses in

that second leg 2 3 4 6 and 12 and then the two three six and

seven in the Filly side of things ahead of Of the Caesars

in that horseshoe Indianapolis stakes.

And so, like I said, if they're off the turf in that fifth race,

I will play the five of the ten, and I will lean on those, and I

will play a twenty dollar pick five with that Base ticket as

well. Alright, so I will tell you guys

want. My ticket is for sure, later, we

go as as the resident track handicapper, I have days and

days to handicap all at once. And then I finalize, my key

plays in the morning, so I will tweet it out.

Follow me everything, mutually in, there you go, find us that

horse happy hour, of course I'm at Louis Robo on Twitter.

Thanks for joining us today. Here at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Good luck on Tuesday. Awesome.

Okay. Now, I have to run upstairs to

do Twitter.
