All right, welcome to another episode of the horse-racing,

happy hour. I am Mike and off.

Oh, he's Lou Ruvo and we have sponsored by green sheets.

Follow. That is true.

It's all good and we're drinking some good bourbon today.

We are, I'll tell you what Louis we got.

The hunter proof of the Cooper's traffic came in today.

It's really, really good with an old-fashioned week.

Late celebrating the old-fashioned.

But I'm enjoying our to a fashion, never say.

It's really like, would you say the price point on?

This was here, a little while 30 bucks at the court, 30 bucks and

I give this is a great, great old-fashioned bourbon.

It is I agree? Yeah.

So this is a nice one worked out.

Well, we spotlighted this like 18 months ago, something like

that. So we haven't had a lot of proof

on the show in a while. So good to have it back.

It's as good as I remember. So really a tradition stuff.

This is a, you're going to have people over, but you want to

give them a nice bourbon bourbon.

No, I'm saying like you're not going to break the bank and you

know hanging out for a little bit.

I think it's one of those kinds of permits a good mixing bourbon

for sure. I mean all you can drink spots

you could. Yeah you could but I mean most

people can't fix this thing. Okay.

That's a good man. And I think that's what they

intended to be. If out.

You know, they kind of wanted to take the step up with old

Forester and they intended this to kind of replace old Forester

and I think they've done a really good job and of course

all the Foresters what traditionally an old-fashioned

is made with so right yep it's good stuff over there with her.

Our friends of brown-forman, get it done and fantastic.

Fantastic for what else is going on with you lie?

Your Michigan State shirt on? I do, I think I don't think they

cover the number this week. What is the number?

What does that number 43? So you're heavy Underdog at your

biggest rival cracked. We are Tennessee is Kentucky's

biggest football Rebel its top level.

Okay even though we've only beat them, you know with first time

we'd been was with a backup quarterback.

It was actually running a fever, it was receiver.

Yeah. Matt Roark I don't was a

Kentucky number two, you know? Like 12.

Yeah. That sounds about right.

Yeah, I don't think it covers that but I agree.

Yeah, Tennessee. Every well cheers.

Well cheers to misery my friend there you go.

Its axon IU fan I can imagine it's not total misery.

Listen my least. Favorite part of IU football was

that we used to say things like oh Michigan is our rival or do

is our rival and it's like, pretty sure how do they know

that yet? Did they as pretty?

But told me produce arrival? Yeah, yeah.

I think that's legit. Trust me.

I even though It's actually a fun game to go to for sure, I'm

sure it is. The Oaken Barrel, is that what

it is? What is that?

The old Oaken Bucket bucket or whatever?

Yeah, I think I think honestly like when Kentucky and Tennessee

played, there's no question about like even though Tennessee

is own Kentucky, over the last 40 years, the worst like they

know that losing the Kentucky, how terrible that would mean

like because of the proximity of the states and there's so many

the fanbase and especially this year like losing this year to

Kentucky would be a disaster. I mean an absolute discipline

just like that's how it's been for Kentucky lat.

Your XIV had no business losing to Tennessee and they lost it

Tennessee when they when they shouldn't, you know I mean no

you're right they can own Florida but they can't be

Tennessee. When Florida owns Tennessee.

You know that making sense. Also my favorite rivalry trophy.

Louis, all the brass spittoons. It's not yes.

Yeah. Are you at Michigan?

State play for the brass but to let's go spit out that to all

the Big 10 games, have some sort of not all of them but like 88

percent of them. Okay.

But at least the original Big, Ten schools like now.

Yeah, it's usually yeah, it's usually The there's nothing ever

1190. Think he's had stayed has one

with Michigan State and they intentionally made it the

ugliest possible trophy available, okay?

But Nebraska and Rutgers don't have anything Maryland, correct.

Yeah, the big 14 whatever. Why do you think they made the

logo? Look like that?

They do. They're going to 16?

Well yeah, yeah it is what it is.

All right. So we're we're sitting here on

a, you know, a week before Breeders Cup.

Yeah, our girl. Caitlin free did.

See this page inside. This is not a show she but she's

our girl. Okay.

All right. Now, I really don't know who I

don't know where she could walk. I only know her from The Paddock

and Churchill, that's it. Yeah, she posted, you know,

breeders, coughs so far away and she's like, what's your, what's

your biggest? I take, I don't know.

My biggest had taken, the Breeders Cup was coming up this

year or ever. Yeah, now the coming up this

year. Okay.

Yeah, no go ahead. I said a three-year-old will not

win a Breeders Cup race mmkay. Anyone respond to that?

No. Okay, I think Nest has the best

chance, right? Probably in the distaff?

Yes. Yeah.

Oh absolutely, yeah. Probably.

Right. And then try to think if there's

any, like I'm wondering, if it's not hot, take you though, you

know, you're essentially going against nest in the distaff and

I don't think it's pretty much it with malice fad and like, you

know, other horses older horses, Claire, maybe and Latrice, get

all that. It's not such a hot take.

If you had a hot take for the Breeders Cup, I'm gonna put you

on the spot. What would it be?

Two American horses, will winter freezes this year?

I mean, that's legit, by the way.

It's not a hot take that I think that could happen.

Well have James Welch. By the way, I'm recording with

him on Monday. TBD on if Mike can make it to

that show, but James whale sharks are Scottish friend, who

always comes on for Breeders Cup in that.

We've got a couple other people that we are working on schedules

with. We will have our usual, 34

preview episodes. We have not announced officially

our time on ESPN Louisville. This year, you want to do it,

let's do it right now. So we don't run.

I don't know if you all can hear that in a very We will have

other Friday show 10 to noon. That is my normal slotted ESPN

level. So if you're not listening to

that's a humble brag right there. - Where Have You Been

come? Find us Aslam.

We tend to do in on ESPN, 680, 105.

By the way, our friends who across the country can listen to

Islam. Louis on the iHeartRadio, a

poor, get the literally just lap.

I mean, frankly, if you have a smart speaker, just say, please

be a little, you get us from 10 to noon Eastern wherever you

live. That's right.

And I mean if you're on the west coast to be 7 a.m. you could

wake up and have lose your morning drive.

I think if you're a Morning drive with Louis.

Your alarm should just be set to that show and you can hear me

come on and give a good listening to podcast, replay of

it, fake takes about Kentucky football.

The what was your friend that got Kentucky football?

It's all fake takes because I don't care the and then Saturday

will be at 11 to noon. We're doing an abbreviated show

on Saturday. We'll make sure we get a bunch

of content out there, but we're going to do kind of a Saturday

heavy show on Friday and then we'll follow it up with.

I'm hoping we'll be able to set it up where there are no brakes

on. Saturday so they run the ads at

the beginning. They are the end of the hour.

We can't just run through the entire hour and treat it like a

podcast episode frankly. So I'll tell you, you know, I'm

not upset about that, right? Not.

None of us are upset about that because I am not a big fan of

the Friday of readership. Oh, I know, I like it because

it's, I like it because it's reading action, right?

Right, yeah. But you could get a price on

Friday for sure. Sure.

But it's just not my favorite day.

I think there's a obviously flight lines going to be the

favorite the weekend. But with Cave Rock coming in for

the for the juvenile. I think there's a chance that he

is close to flight line as far as his price.

Yeah. The time of our listeners.

Now most of our listeners are funds for lot of talk a little

bit about that horse because that's that's about a hot as hot

as a two-year-old coming into the rear to of juveniles.

We've had a long time. Yes.

Okay. Brock is a bob baffert rainy out

of the Southern Cal so he's not dirty eligible circuit.

Now, at this point he's the son of arrogate So this is where we

talked about on the show. I think we're going to miss out

on are gay dying as young as he did because it only having one

full crop here. That, you know, we're producing

at a high level, I mean there's an unbelievably high level, so

this horse comes out wins. Maiden special weight at Del Mar

in August, comes back in September a month.

Later wins the Futurity at Del Mar grade 1, and then comes back

with the American pharoah at Santa Anita.

And so the horse just continues to get better and better last

time out. This was fun.

So I had to do this race for for a br for the pics of the

segments that we do over there. And I was like, you know what, I

think baffert's going to get the trifecta Eddie did.

That's so it was literally Cave, Rock, National, Treasure and

hijazi who are all three baffert tradies and the try the child.

He paid 790. And, what's funny is we get, we

get the 790, actually we get a two dollar try, so I got like 30

bucks for it or whatever, but It's still, it was still funny

to like be right, but it didn't matter but King stood better and

but I'll cave Rocks. Coming out of three wins in

three tries. The horse isn't the interesting

thing is in Southern College here.

Field sizes are bigger and so this horse has been running

against 78 other horses in all of his races.

And so it's not like he's winning these like 34 horse

races. That's Barrel.

Stays at eight horses in it. Yeah, that's right.

And so, you know, for a two-year-old race, frankly

that's not that's that's on par with what is happening in

Kentucky happening in New York that kind of thing and so So

we're seeing a little bit of a Resurgence that way in those

races, in California, in which is which is great.

And something that we talked about on this show and so yeah,

he's already made four thousand dollars in its life in three

races. And so, yeah, by the way, let me

just real quick on that, on that American pharoah because it was

a to turn racism, my underneath. He wins by five and a quarter.

Yep. I mean, it wasn't even like

clothes and he beat a horse by the name of Gandolfini, which

obviously is very difficult role, right?

Yeah, right? Yeah.

That's real training. I mean, so a lot of Side of

whoever can gear. Most kids are, but yeah.

So the right I've decided by the way, what we need to do, I have,

I had a weird thought, today, we get them are just as well.

This was a bucking Guillermo - mm, I miss her, I miss her.

I miss the big guy. I, I want to breed a mayor to

King Guillermo but have the baby born in Indiana, so that it's an

Indiana bread and part of the Indiana bread.

So not Indiana, sired but Indiana bread.

And see if we can't just pick up.

Off a bunch of races with a king Guillermo baby in Indiana.

Just having with you to partner with our voice, Roger 100%, he's

got three horses in this weakened, by the way, in the

championship, day up at HSI, which we'll talk about later,

but, whatever the hell, Rachel shows up.

She's supposed to join us. But looking Rachel's on Rachel

time. She totally and it's lights.

Don't open themselves. People and so.

So yeah, that'll be fun. Can we do a little?

Can we do replays? Because I got these braces,

right? Can we?

Please let's just sit before because I know I get a little

hard time. Because there was only three

races in a pic. Three.

Louis got all three right. He was 3 for 3, though.

He wanted to pay. I played it for to box and it

paid. Where is it?

I don't know. I don't remember.

It was like it was before 21 or something.

That right. I was like, it was.

Yeah. It was like 38 to one yesterday.

Yeah. And frankly, it was one of the

horses was a massive favorite. So, you know, to favorites in

the last two legs, the only like that we got right was the Wicked

prankster in the first leg, which will if Zack if you can.

Pull that up in the Millionaire's do.

Here it is and this was one of those.

Hey can you get out front? Stay out front kind of pace

races and that's exactly what happened here.

He's on the inside here, it's crabs and beer.

The greatest mayor Brad main slogan, suddenly wide open,

Wicked pranks are until daring the field to catch crabs and

beard. Nick pappagiorgio on the outside

is Street copper followed by so Street and rum jar on the scene,

late for a share coming to the final.

Furlong Wicked prankster is digging down crabs and beer

Street copper, on the outside. Three chances with yards to go

wig good prankster and nobody Wait, by the way, the nick

pappagiorgio name, you know, what's that?

A reference to you? No idea, exactly know.

So The Sopranos one not sad it's a Greek name know.

It's it's the, it's the Vegas Vacation movie like the last

Chevy Chase Vegas. It was, it was the sun's fake ID

name. Wow, that's deep.

That's gonna do for a name. I like that.

Yeah, that's it right there. All right, let's let's go onto

our nation on Parade. Dominates, the million classic.

Let's look, let's see, this replay.

Well, as soon as that gets it ready, sexy, sexy.

You know, by the way, I singled Wicked prankster in that pic 3.

So, I mean, whatever, you know, yeah, good job.

The inside turning for home in the Maryland million, classing

of our nation on Parade. Sweeps up to the lead and Pops

away opens up to lengths. Now, and up our stretch, our

nation on parade, and Jaime Rodriguez.

A 3 in front are almost four and from thence collars on the

inside, trying to run on for a share, the poser on the far

outside his double crown, but it's our nation on Parade in

full flight. Now in the Maryland million

classic a convincing winner. Indeed.

Big time. When right there for Nation on

Parade. In full flight.

Look at that. Love it.

Now that was the one where I probably should have just played

a three-horse single single single in that in that stretch.

But now I mean dominating win. It was the horse that we said

look if you're you want to get skinny was actually the leg

before that but yeah really really good.

I mean, really good for this nice day out there.

I think they did hit that 7 million Mark that we were

talking about and so yeah, no solid day out at a fairly

million. The equivalent of that is is

that Indiana this weekend? With their with their three.

Therefore 6q? Yeah.

Well, if we ever get April on April 14 area?

Rachel tell her I called her April Bowie.

We're get Rachel on April, who's April?

I don't know why. That was April have no idea

where what we got to do this. Now, what are the other?

What are the other like, I get it.

What are the other 80s women's names?

So we've got Rachel April, but Rebecca.

Yes. A row Michelle.

Michelle. Michelle Heather is Heather.

A good one. Yeah, there's definitely good

one. What are they Jennifer right?

Debbie Megan now that was probably too old.

Yeah it's pretty good. Yeah, that's pretty lady's name.

Yeah, there's definitely that group.

What else? Tiffany Tiffany's really good

one. I Think We're Alone Now.

Oh my wife's name Kristen that's that's that's that's That 80s,

they definitely? Yeah, yeah for sure, good stuff.

Alright, well, whenever April gets are racing here, April

singing, race, April, whatever Rachel gets on, we'll talk

about. I mean, there's we got so much

talk about Rachel when she gets on.

So hopefully she gets on soon because I'd like to hear from

her. So, yeah, one more, okay?

Sarah. Every girl was named Sarah.

When I was a kid. I feel like I said, Sarah, he

did say, Sarah you smoke. It was like every other girl.

I guess the late 80s when they started doing the, you know,

names with the eye and said of the why at the end, you know,

like the stripper name. Yeah.

So probe, Randy and Crystal. And I have to tell this story

when Louis and I were in undergrad.

There was this. Well, I was a grad school.

You were an undergrad? Yeah.

Yeah, whatever. We were at Indiana.

Okay. Yes, correct.

There was this woman. I dated whose name was Sarah and

she was Sarah without an H. There was a song called Zach and

Sarah. Oh College.

Yeah. Hey, he's gone.

And that's a question. My cherry Danish, you know she

hung around for a little bit? Yeah, I care for her.

Yeah. Hope you're not listening, sir.

Maybe you are. Maybe you're a big fan.

Hey, you want to go on to talk about Keeneland?

Well, we definitely do that. Closing on Saturday, future

stars on Sunday here at Churchill.

Going to drag my, my parents are in town this week.

So I'm gonna check my, my dad out there with the boys and try

to watch some future stars. So Green Sheet racing, of

course, sponsors are handicapping segment, which

we're going to get into you right now.

Head out to Green Sheen raising.com and get your picks

for the weekend. You can also get Louise

favorite. He's against the, his most

likely his most likely winner, and which is not always a

favorite, and then his his sequence in your sequence.

This is a pic was a pic for pic file.

A pic for on Saturday. Yeah, the last four races of

Keeneland this year. That's right.

Yep, last fall I just Man I started to work on the pick five

and I could not get it under $200.

And so I just thought you know what?

I'm not giving that on the sheep.

Are you? Are you paying attention to the

sales at all? Oh, their sales going on.

I'm just gonna, um, yeah, there definitely are.

Um, no, no, I uh, I have not gotten to the point where I am

rounded enough in horse racing to pay attention, to everything

that's going on. Plus the sales I just don't.

Well you know but I think I think if we had more success

from the these horses that, you know, get paid for about 4

million dollars. If we had more success from

than, I'd probably pay attention a bit more but, you know, we're

big. Triple Crown people, right?

And I like to bring Couple out to obviously but Triple Crown

winners hardly ever go for more than a million dollars, it's

always sure. It's in horse racing turns a

very moderately priced horse, usually wins the Triple Crown

races and so you know I don't know if they get trained with

like you know, just like the princes, they are they get there

so expensive or what, but I it doesn't really mean.

It doesn't do any, for me. I know this was all into it but,

you know, yes, for sure. And that's great.

But he's also in the game of buying horses, That's right.

He's buying and selling and I mean he made some comment about.

I got a tax bill coming, the other day, because he brought a

horse for 20. Grand is holder for 85 and

that's how you do that. So that's nice.

That's nice. Not, I still think we should

have like the show should buy at least this part of a horse and I

have a rooting interest or something that you're out of it.

You don't want to be something really not interested.

I don't want that part of the game.

I'm just telling you right now. It is.

I'm sure you're the best. Sure.

Everything you're about to say is true and I want nothing.

With it, Mike and I is the best Kickstart a horse.

We're gonna get fifty thousand dollars on Kickstarter.

Yeah. the the show's horse the we call him the horse racing,

happy hour, you know, That's what we do.

I like it. All right, here we go.

Keeneland Galen great race 6:00 on Saturday starts to pick five.

It is the Bowman Mill. Six Furlong Sprint on the dirt

for two-year-olds two hundred thousand dollars on the line.

Louis with two-year-old You Had Your Eyes on I think so

something that I think is going to happen in this state and I'm

making a prediction now because of the purses, more good horses

are running, enlisted, steaks and Kentucky than ever before.

So, if Look at the Santa Anita card for example.

Lots of hundred thousand dollar races.

This is a listed two hundred thousand dollars take 60 year

olds. Yeah.

Right. And so that's that's a big boy

number and I think eventually in a lot of other places.

Yeah. Yeah.

Or maybe, maybe a hundred, you know, that kind of thing for

sure. And so, my prediction is a lot

of these races that we see as listed last year, this year,

maybe next year will turn into great threes.

Because of the purses and who showing up, and I think the

graded Stakes can be, you can start to notice the best example

that has been Kentucky Downs, like they can't, they couldn't

for a long time. Look away from who was showing

up, like, what gufo runs on a race?

It's not, it's not a listed Stakes, right?

Look at this. It ruins your case against it,

being a graded stakes. And so that I think that's about

to happen for a lot of these races in.

Kentucky, I looked at one, two, and three in this race because I

think that that's where you're most likely winners going to

come from. The interesting thing for this

is your All of these horses. Like to be either near the

leader on the lead, you know, quick Hammer, last time out the

three, Brad Cox will be saez breaks his Maiden at an aqueduct

in that Belmont meet their huge. Number runs a really, really

nice race. Really clean race over takes his

opponents in the in the three or four path essentially which is I

think on debut a really good sign for a horse 7, excuse me.

Yeah. Seven horses in that field.

So getting back into a similar size field here and it's a can

he repeat that? At going into this race remains

to be seen, of course keeps the size of board.

So that might be helpful, sir, lancelot's in this race, 242

Lifetime and you love that with a two-year-old, right?

Except that they was at Delaware and then at Presque Isle on the

synthetic. And so will that translate to

the dirt at Keeneland this weekend?

I think that's up in the air hard to get those synthetic to

dirt. Transfer numbers, Sometimes They

Come Together, sometimes they don't but sir, Lancelot to your

old gelding out of golden sand spread for 15 G's already made.

Five raised Cain, though. The one here on the rail Brooks

made last time out by a billion lengths, to Keeneland seem to

love. The track has been training,

really, really well, if you look at the numbers over the track

itself. So if you wanted the horse,

that's got the local, the local stuff going for it.

It's going to be raised Cain, the one horse here.

So, I went 3-1 to, in this group, I think that coming out

of Aqueduct on to a less deep track.

Essentially, a less Sandy track than they have in New York, will

be something. Quick Camera will really like,

and so, 312 here in the, The Bowman Mill.

Horse said, I'm tossing, by the way, is bourbon bash.

Absolutely. By the way, who did not like

Keeneland, last timeout, has been training really well at

Churchill, but we, you and I are both of the opinion that those

two tracks, do not always translate, only translate it

all. Now, some horses can do both

some horses can do both for sure.

But in my opinion, you know, you know, runs in Saratoga runs well

at Saratoga, right? But comes To Keeneland and you

know, after winning the hopeful so that was it.

But that was a great one to turn router.

He's I agree. So getting back to that might

help but way Lucas goes route to Sprint at 6% recently for some

reason that's about it as well as having a really fine meet at

19 percent at Keeneland. But I'm going to lie down the

three, the one in the two in this one.

Okay. All right, let's move on to the

great three Bryan Station, one mile Turf race for three years.

Three hundred thousand dollars on the line here.

Like yes, who is Bryan Station High School's most famous

alumnus, Eric Shelton, I'm going with Goose Givens.

All right. Keep going.

Oh, That big no juice is definitely had a better career

than her Sheldon but he's probably yeah I just I get to

talk to you two Goofs once in a while so it's totally biased.

There he came through Lexington with a bunch of other just like

him and James Lee and that whole area and they they really it was

huge. Those guys going to Kentucky

just from the African American side of I was going to say Goose

actually he came on the radio show the other day and he told

the story Dan asked him like did you even think about going to

Kentucky as a kid and he said it wasn't until high school that

even watched it? Hockey game because he just

assumed it wasn't available to him and he grew up a 15-minute

walk from campus. All right, in this seventh race,

I'm sorry, we're skipping this house Race by the waitress and

in the seventh race, I'm going to give a long shot real quick.

Okay, guys, they're they're like, I think that race is

stupid wide-open. Yes, there's an arrogant.

We just talked about a good air gets crop is with Tyler aboard.

That's 12 to 1, go for it. All right, so are my pick in the

sheet? Oh well, I'm sorry.

I didn't give you. Ortega gave my opinion, I agree.

Okay, okay. Alright, so this is the thing,

it's race. Who do you like in the Bryan

Station besides Goose Givens. I got seven horses here because

I think this is actually a place where you can get a lot of

value. I think if you wanted to go

chalky, you're looking at Classic Causeway.

I'm wondering if you know, he was in that race.

The turf mile against older horses last time out at

Keeneland, their brought dropping it back into three year

old company. Here was a little bit up the

track. Julian jumps off here.

Bryant Hernandez jumps on. I don't know if I like that

change. That'll be interesting when it

comes in with the obvious. Buyer numbers from Saratoga.

They gave the source a little bit of time off.

That doesn't bother me at all Jose Ortiz stays aboard.

I just I don't I don't think that there's anything so

remarkable about those two horses that you wouldn't stretch

your ticket a little bit here. The 10 for example if we're to

Ventura comes in and this horse lost to Annapolis last time out

and I think Annapolis is a major contender in the mile and the

turf Mile in the Breeders Cup. And so for that horse to have

been in the Saranac last time out at Saratoga and then runs in

the gun runner at Kentucky Downs runs well again.

But I don't hold Kentucky Downs performances against horses

because it's just a different type of surface.

It's not Turf racing, its Meadow racing in my opinion and so at

12:45, you get John Velazquez here, picks up the mount with

Jonathan Thomas, two of them have won three of their last 11

races. They're just good together.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do.

He lost a play-action pass last timeout.

Why can't play action pass one here?

That'll be an interesting one as well play action passes, the 12

Jose Luis Cano and Robert Medina.

I don't know why you couldn't include the 12.

As well in this sequence, which I have I think the one is

interesting here in ready to perform, doesn't that sound a

little bit, like a lesbian bar? Like a little Zach help me out,

doesn't it? I mean like like like a really

good name for a lesbian bar? Nothing no one's help attack.

Won't jump up. I would have just said I would

have gone with just the perform part but yeah, I would have

called it like performance. Think that's what?

That's why. I'm not a lesbian bar owner.

Yeah. Oh man.

I'm just an investor. That's right.

So no ran. Well in that.

In the Manila at Belmont over that one.

Turn mile course comes back at the hall of fame.

Has won this year, ready to perform in the the great to Hall

of Fame at Saratoga over that one mile Turf course if the

horse is one at the distance has shown that they can do it.

That's why I think it's kind of open and so I actually use seven

different horses in this part but I've got 81 1012 up top if

anyone's interested. I'll sing a classic cause Waco's

class called class. All right.

The 92 93 is here with chess. Chief the grade to hag.

Your fares Fayette fared, man, I would struggle today.

All right, Malin eighth on the Dirt 3 year, olds and up.

You don't fear under get to like the 316 poll, just go to sleep.

That's what the ferret would do. He was very.

Yeah, I actually had a fair pet ferret for a while.

Do they smell as bad as people say they do?

Yeah. They can they can smell bad.

You can't you can't buy me your good pets though.

Right? They're great.

Pets are very loyal. They're playful.

They're just but you know those the ones you grab him by the

neck and they fall asleep. I never did that.

Okay. Give me the scariest.

All right there it's is that they can get into how many of

the tightest places. Yeah right.

Yeah and then you can tell ya right dick ever.

All right, we got a we got six horse field here.

Lou got a lot of familiar names that have been around for a

little bit. Who do you like in this way?

I think you can actually take a little bit of a shot here

because, you know, if you think the Luke is classic was a really

good race, you could use King Fury here.

I thought he actually showed some good form in that race

finish behind hot rod, Charlie and Rich strike.

No. Shame in that.

Frankly horses of that quality. Simply aren't in this race.

I do have first Captain up top raining that Jockey Club of at

Saratoga scuse me behind Olympian who are not hearing a

lot of right now and I think he's not The Breeders Cup.

Oh really? Yeah, it's my sense.

But ran you know, ran Three Lakes behind him.

But when Olympiad was going this year, man, he was one of the

best older males period especially over to turns, right?

And so in my opinion, like no shame in losing that race runs

behind American Revolution in that race as well horses.

Have that quality just aren't in this race.

So, I've got the four on top. Folsom's running here, Brad Cox

bet against him. Aquiline at your own Peril

essentially did run well in the ack-ack.

I thought, but just over one turn Mi seems to want to go to

turns. Now, at this stage in his

career, Wins an optional claimer at amount of 16 that Churchill

backs It Up by winning the West. Virginia Governor's grade, 3 at

Mountaineer after that oversaw pigou horse seems to he's just a

winner. Eight wins eight, if it wins in

15 runs and so I think he's an includes 14-1 by the way at

Keeneland. So the horse is running Caitlin

and one I included. West will power and this is well

coming out of a mile and an eighth win at Churchill Downs.

With l'orange, aru picks up, Joel Rosario here for Brad Cox.

So I'm a little Brad Cox. Have you here?

And so, hopefully, he keeps that sits the move to that bar in a

second at a first. First going over?

That three quarters of a turn at Ellis Park 1 and 3/4 turn, I

should say, and then coming back at Churchill Downs in an

optional claimer not available there for 100k.

And so, I went for three and one in the Fayette, there it is, for

three, in one, in the fifth. Are we going to get, like, stood

up by Rachel? I think we're getting set up by

Rachel, and I'm just going to guess it's Be stuff because I'm

not even getting text messages. So, yeah, which is I, which is

unusual. Very, very unusual firm.

Alright, I'm alright. Well, let's talk about some of

the great things go ahead. I was going to say I have a near

the end of the season question, which is this is Ben A pretty

good year, a year of the decade, maybe right.

Like it's a we have a lot of great horses this year.

What do you think looking into next year?

What I think looking at you about what, what, like what 30

guideline will be? Yeah, like is, are we gonna keep

this crop? But they going to keep

competing. Are we going to see them?

Move into more regionalized? Three-year-olds races

four-year-olds. But yeah, I think that's the

biggest difference is we're gonna be a classic Runner.

Winners warning is four year olds, all that distaff class is

going to be back except for maybe liszewski.

She probably used to go. Yeah, will be a bomb.

It's time to. I think she's telling us she

needs. She wants to be Mommy and you

know you know but the mouth that's a Clary are is the nest

of the world. We're going to get those back.

I just think there's a distinct older horse crap.

That's going to be very good. If the two year old crop keeps

to form, we should have a very good three-year-old year.

That is so hard to predict from freaking October to February and

March. But yeah, no, I am in Mike.

I don't know if you feel the same way and we'll see you on

Sunday at Churchill, I am encouraged by the size of the

two-year-old fields. At the highest level that will

have a very robust Oaks and Derby Trail this year, and we

could have a heavy favorite then we could have the Cave.

Rock keeps rolling, man. I mean for sure, that's right

here, you have he's on the same path right now.

That Nyquist was on 2016, that's essentially what he's doing

right now. He really had this story because

it's he's trained by baffert which will bring everything to

the Forefront on that again. So yeah, it's going to be

interesting from that standpoint for sure.

We'll know a lot more a so nice weekend.

You mentioned that and I think it's worth talking about, I

think you'll More diversity of where those trainees go than

just a Timmy acting because of what happened.

This last year. I think you'll see, I think

you'll see people use a satellite launcher.

Go to a pleasure, you know, go to a Cox and as Moses and a, you

know, Brown whatever they got to do.

You n do as mohsen you want to win for the Oaks?

Hopefully Oaks. Yeah baby.

Oh sure. Yeah, I mean like not for the

Derby. You don't feel like that's a

matter of time thing. Nope.

Okay. You think he's either in Oaks or

an allowance guy. I think he's listening.

Did you train Gunrunner? I mean, he's trying some good

breeding horses. Don't know what I like most

Merchants to believe needlessly besmirch.

Yes. Right, right.

But that's he's still when it comes to like if I had a classic

horse he's not getting my horse. If I had a really good allowance

horse who he began that horse all day long but good might be a

mistake. Yeah, great three kind of course

right now that was part of the dudes, had an amazing career.

He's had some awesome horses but I'm not trusting with the

classic three-year-old, I trusted with a maiden like

crazy. I mean, that's that's what.

Yeah, sure. For sure.

I think he's as good with helping horses when they're

first races anyone. But but I agree with you.

I think we could have a pretty awesome just deep class of

horses coming next year. And you know, when I was writing

for the times I tried to put together or how we protect them,

no, it's okay. Yeah, I try to put together a

point system that would encourage more racing and bigger

fields for the two-year-olds. It's of the the Kentucky Derby

Trail of the Kentucky Oaks Trail in the fall and in the winter.

And it looks like some of that has just short itself up as sort

of the natural, Ebbs and flows of the of the season, right

above the important that the season.

But of the years of horse racing great, where, you know, some

years were going to have less horses in it.

Some years we'll have more it so I'm Like I just said, I'm

hopeful that we'll keep that Trend going, you know, we'll

have a, you know, a 1314 horse risen star, that kind of thing

when we get to the spring. And so most most trainers do our

fallen where they don't want to do.

Like maybe they don't want to get into a big-time Stakes race

until their 3 year olds like the win a race him as a

two-year-old. And you know what are the

biggest differences is? A lot of these horses is

two-year-olds are running without Lasix if they think

they're on a big path, right? It's not like you're finding out

as a three-year-old if they can run without Lasix, that's true.

Right? So I think that's one of the sea

changes. That's happened, where you have,

you have those two year olds that are running on the same

medication will be running on as three-year-olds and and so it's

there's more continuity between those ages and so I'm wondering

if that isn't part of it where there was just this like you

know at the source is you know you know Mom was Mom needed

Lasix or dad needed Lasik something like that.

So we're going to keep that horse on Lasix and go that route

instead of going, you know, will stay in Arkansas, will stay in,

you know, states, that allow Lasix. 44 States versus Indiana,

whatever it is, and staying on, that kind of thing, rather than

taking a shot at the big ones. And I think now that that's just

the rule and it's not going away, more people are just

leaning in that direction. So it'll be interesting to see.

So Zach popped on and ask a question and reminded me that

when we had stable boy, we had stable boy stupid question which

I really like is that question was not stupid, obviously, but

Zach's not to do but he's a very handsome intelligent.

Yeah, I like hairy guys. So I mean just what it is.

Anyway, the I got goes back to like, the orange Playdoh ago,

like this show was designed to be very approachable by all

horse racing fans. It's not just the people who are

generously in the weeds like we want to give enough for the

people who are in the weeds but we also want to educate and help

people become better betters and understand what's going on.

And you know, oh Zack, I'd encourage like, anytime you have

those kind of questions to pop on and ask the question and I

understand, you know, quite a bit.

But like, if you ever just wanted to know, hey, I never

knew what this meant. Like we would love to educate

people as much as possible. So I think that's a big part of,

you know, we want to have fun. We want to educate and we want

to drink little bourbon. That's kind of what the show is.

So by the way, out at Santa Anita this weekend in the ninth

race on Saturday. Oh yeah.

I'm the in the senator can Maddie Stakes by the way Santa

Anita is not of my associate at all.

Just want to put that I know. I know I don't read you had a

dpp's, a lot of it is a lot of it is State bread stuff.

Yeah, but Connie swingle is running on the downhill Turf in

that Stakes race. That horse is 343 Lifetime on

that track on that, on that course I should say, on the

downhill Sprint. So, my suggestion, my suggestion

is just use that horse in the late sequence as a single.

That's the three horse. I don't have numbers on my

peepees. Yeah, three horse in that one.

Khafre. Phil D'Amato to them crushing it

right now. 28%, it's an Anita khafre's, really made a very

exceptional transition from Golden Gate down to Southern

California. It's been fun to watch him.

Take the form that he had in Northern California, and applied

to Southern California. He's been as good of a new

shooter in Southern California. Is there has been in a while

him. Juan Hernandez.

Those guys have shown that the jockey Colony there is in really

good shape. But yeah, Connie swingle.

That's my single for the late sequence at a sanity this

weekend as a Kirsten going back to that conversation about the

30 classroom this year. You've got to be paying

attention to some of these two year, old races and other parts

of the country. Not just the Breeders Cup

juvenile fillies, the British juvenile, I mean really pay

attention to some of these two year olds Sunday, a Churchill's

one of those days man. Absolutely.

No question under percent. So if you get out there and see

those horses be great, right Rachel's not on but I want to

mention some things. Yeah, real quickly.

First off last weekend, they had the World Championships.

They had the Breeders Cup version of the world champions

for the rate for the quarter horses.

AQHA. Yeah, baby.

And you love quarter horse racing.

I do love quarter horse racing. Yeah, so I don't do enough of it

but yeah, I do. I do.

I do really enjoy it. Yeah.

But we, you know, never won the shows too popular because we

told her that she should get lowest rungs out there and boom

loves ponies. Yeah, that's what happened.

But they were, you were talking to me on the phone.

They were very Innovative about how they handled the whole day,

talk about what you did out there.

So if people are unfamiliar with the quarter horse championships

and totally fine. If you are, they run at very

different distances than Thoroughbred races.

And usually, they're in straight line Sprints of between three

and four hundred forty yards. There were a couple of races

that were eight hundred seventy yards, which is essentially a

for, for a long race. Quarter horses are essentially

do the one turn and be done but they used a drone to do an

overhead tracking of those races.

Because so often a quarter horse racing because of the property

of the you know the short nature of the races, the the blanket

finishes is essentially every race.

There's there's you know, unless someone really just pops out of

the gate really well finish as well, excuse me.

And and they did Drone footage from above.

And what's interesting is when you see the races from above,

you actually have a better idea. What that what it looks like at

the wire. So it's cool because they do the

normal traditional shot from the side from the grandstand.

And then when it finishes, they go to the replay from the Drone

and I don't know why we wouldn't do that thoroughbred racing

frankly. I think it's a cool vintage.

I think we should have all kinds of cameras and you know, and in

the Arabian peninsula where I went over lots of reasons, I

don't really follow the racing there but they have a they have

a truck on the inside track and I have a track on the inside and

they actually film it from the rail and that's kind of cool

too. It's almost like greyhound

racing or something that way but it's very cool Vantage where

you're on the same level as the horses watching them sort of

literally jockey for position. I apologize to the hold a joke

there but it is it is a different angle there.

I don't think we can like many sports.

We cannot have enough camera angles in horse racing.

Like let's figure out more of these and I think horseshoe does

so many things that everyone just latches onto and copies

because they're the OG allow these things Take out rates on

the pick five, doing the Drone racing, like those kinds of

things up. They're not afraid to take

chances out there at all, but don't try it out, we'll see what

happens. Yeah.

And and look, they have the luxury of being attached to a

casino. I understand.

I'm sure there's people like, screaming at this podcast.

It's a race. You know, I get it, man until

you go don't badmouth it. But the other part is, Someone's

got to take the chances in horse racing and it may as well be

people like Eric and people like Rachel up there, you know and in

Tammy the race. Ya Tammy for sure like it may as

well be those people because they have.

I mean they just built, they just built a dormitory on campus

for their backside workers and for different people so that

they can afford to work there in and you know in a reasonably

live in a very nice reasonable way.

That's forward-thinking in this sport man.

And and so if we if we can The trade on the horses first and

then take care of the people s and then take care of the

better. Third owner forth, whatever that

order is, I don't know what that total order is.

But if we do that, they're trying to do that up in Central

Indiana and they deserve a lot of Kudos.

Well I think it all kind of you know you're asking you don't

know which order they come in. I think they've all got to be

they're all important. Right?

So it's like sure but the horse is number one, it's a.

You can explore without the horses.

That's right, period. Yeah.

That's right. Then you could, you could argue

what's more important, the horsemen of the better.

So on top of that. But then I think you're all 28.

To be to see, like just solder on the side after the horse for

sure. Yeah.

And you know and when you're up in Indiana, I think the

proximity of the way that the fan and the inner end of the

better and the, in the horsemen can interactive there is hardly

any awesome. I don't know.

I, I like up there a lot. It's just it's very much like

one big family and they like, take always take good care of us

and it's just so easy to go to races there.

That's what I would tell people. It's just so easy to second.

Floor is so nice. Got a chef.

But designated Chef for the second floor Club out there and

then you could walk out on that area.

I got a playground for kids, the, you know, walk right up to

the paddock at the top of the stretch.

I mean, like that kind of stuff. It's so easy.

You could tell the jockeys really like being there.

You know, that sort of thing. It's really easy for the

horsemen to. And so I just look, if you're

looking for a model moving forward with what we're trying

to do in this sport there, at least trying to do that.

I've seen some of the stuff at Turfway.

I think they used a lot of that, you know, sort of footprint for

Um Horseshoe in Annapolis at Turf way, they got rid of all

the grand stand outside at Turfway.

Like it's all just walk around open space and part of that is

they run in the winter? It's halfway and so people are

gonna probably be inside most of the time but right at the same

time like the ability to just go and go stand next to the rail at

a track. It'll Gulfstream really has

that. Keeneland has that big area.

That's open in the front there. That's really nice.

Now Turf trishul doesn't have a lot of that, right?

And you really have to kind of maneuver the boxes or maneuver

whatever. To go do that.

But you know the ability to just go stand right next to a horse

races, unlike anything else in sports and so kudos to the

tracks that are keeping that going but he will be your man

for Turfway coverage by the way so just be staying tuned for

that. Answer for that.

That's right. That's right because I'll drop

off here in a couple weeks Thanksgiving and then peace in

the Middle East for for Mike. Yeah so I mean let then I won't

hear from him until like February like World Cup You

know, Pegasus you knowed all depends to we might, you know,

we'll see what happens around the Cliffs of wartime.

Well, you know, you never know. So the so Indiana.

We were going to have Rachel on because they have their big day.

Like you mentioned, yeah, they're they're bred horses,

Indiana bred horses. Good luck.

Sure our friend Roger, he's got three horses as we mentioned

early in the, in the show and to finish it off Louis.

Let's just kind of talk about what people can expect in the

next 10 days from us. So, You're going to be releasing

some special episodes. I'll be releasing.

Yeah, the yeah. So we'll have James Walsh on.

He'll do, all of our people are not familiar with that coverage.

It is fantastic. It's some of the best stuff we

do. We.

So we talked to people from all over both the country and the

world. So essentially, you know, this

show we're basic Kentucky about 45% of the horses that run in

the Breeders Cup or kentucky-based, right?

Then you get about 12 and 15 percent from New York and about

10% from California. And so we try to get a New York

guest, the California guest. We got to get that geography and

guests. We got to get a Japanese man.

I think that's something that we're going to have to figure

out and I agree. Yeah.

And so I don't know how prevalent they'll be in this

Breeders Cup. This Breeders Cup, it looks like

less, and yeah, but when he goes back to California, next year,

in San Diego, I think they'll be.

I think that's going to be the thing to watch.

That's right. And so, The, you know, we'll,

we'll have to do that. I will have James Walsh on

Monday taping so that'll release probably on Tuesday.

And then I'm going to sit down with people from around the

country that you've either heard on the show or we're introducing

to the show to get their takes on the Breeders Cup fields and

what they're looking for. And so we'll have more Breeders

Cup coverage here than you can even like yeah, they'll probably

be three separate episodes there.

Then, of course live at Breeders Cup on Friday, 10 to noon on

ESPN Louisville, smart speaker, the app.

Whatever you want to find, go do that.

I heart. But are we doing Cheska

Wednesday? That's TBD at this point.

Oh, I'm sorry. What can I do?

Know? You're okay, A little bit of a

snafu there. I'm trying to still work that

out. And then Saturday we'll have the

one-hour show from 11 to noon. See, Louis only tells you what I

have to know. He, I'm on a need-to-know basis.

I'd like zaxon Town. We're going to go chefs, cut,

we're gonna get some. Some people are going to chefs

cut, no matter what the Wednesday.

The matter. Now we have a show boom I'll

talk about Breeders Cup. It just, I don't know for.

Yeah. All right.

That's what that that's when that would be the first time

that we know what the post position draw looks like, you

know, Monday is the all that stuff.

Yep. That's right.

So we would be able to kind of give you a little bit more of an

early early bird handicapping. We're essentially hoping, yeah,

I'm hoping to get James on after the draw happens.

So that in case, there's anything really bizarre with say

a Sprint draw or whatever. They're in the 14th hole for the

spread or something like that kind of stuff.

Like that's, that's what we're essentially.

We did Jackie's, where you draw the 13 that kind, right, you

know, whatever. So and so yeah, that's what

we're kind of work for in the. Yeah, well, everybody out to be

a lot of fun. Those are some of my favorite

shows. Well, I know that we're going to

suffer for our fans and we're going to go out to Keeneland and

be at the Breeders Cup and fight this crime if there's a lot of

suffering. Yeah, it's, you know, so we're

going to be talking about doing some fun stuff.

There will be joined by our boy, Dan Issel, and who else knows,

we'd and attracts that once we get on the show, by the way, um,

behind the scenes stuff, and I'm not going to mention too much

about it, but I wanted to give a personal.

Shoutout, Jenny, res, John Sheva, Tim welke in Egypt or

guy, EJ Clark. Yeah.

Of you. Thank you for your support of

the show and for us personally, we appreciate it.

We know that what we do is not traditional with in horse racing

and that all four of you came up in a very different game than we

did and we're just appreciative of your support of the show.

Yes. And we know that most of you are

listening. So alright, let's wrap it up.

Let's pay the tab. Let's get out of here.

This has been another episode of the horse-racing happy hour.

Open all the doors.

Horse Racing Happy Hour
