You're listening to Kentuckiana zsp, in 680 whv Newberg and 1057

W HV e FM, Eminence Frankfort. Time now for the horse racing

happy hour live from Churchill Downs for Kentucky Oaks 149.

Now here's Mike Lewis and Dan are welcome in to Churchill.

Down. That is a beautiful Oaks day.

This is the horse-racing happy hour Louis, you got something to

say, but I'll see, I was and it's icy cold.

I Mi quests. My mom said a programa espanol

total India, most con Nosotros Hoy Hall of Famer.

Danny said Don Costa senior result como esta.

All right, there it is. There's our cinco DeMayo talk

because I'm sure there's people eating some tacos.

Watch some races are already boat days.

Great crossover, listen. Got four minutes to the post,

Dan and Louis both like a long shot in this race.

So if you're here, or if your clothes do you want to get on

your app? Whatever you want to do, what do

they need to bet? I'm right here.

Not a long shot earlier than but yeah, that helmet was coming

down, but down a little bit. 921 right now, the 13 here in this

race. Let me get a name for people

into disco. Thank you, sir.

Neither dad nor I into disco. However, Junior Alvarado award

here for Riley Mott and so should as coming out of two

back-to-back, races won over a mile at a maiden at Oaklawn,

what and a mile, and a 16th at Oakland as well.

Against winners for the first time, both Races by by clear

length and so should be a real problem.

Here keeps Lasix and loses a pound actually which I like to.

Yeah. The question is is he big enough

to carry Louis and me? So dang was our time that you

were into disco? No.

Never get teammates were though right?

Oh yeah oh yeah what is the best Disco a be a story.

The platform shoes and the Disco that artist.

Oh yeah. Oh yeah artists artists who is

seven foot two. To start with needed six inch

platform heels. Yep, that happened.

I love that have people, who is the guy who was the guy for the

Pittsburgh? Steelers Frenchy?

Fuqua, I think. Okay had had platform shoes and

he had goldfish it in the hole in the heels.

You remember that? Yeah, no, I don't remember that.

However, I have heard about. You gotta remember, Jane really

wasn't aware. And in the seventies I did not

accept all I was born. After Ronald Reagan, took office

now, that was that was big. That was big.

I was Saturday Night Fever, so into disco is the official pick

of the show and by the way, we do have the text line today.

If you are listening, anywhere in the world, I know a bunch of

our listeners on the Pod, hang out with us today. 50 2437, 96

8,500, 243 79-68, that's sponsored by friends at UPS jobs

UPS, jobs.com, on the text line. So let's go.

Well, maybe we were getting too, by the way, just another horse,

I do like in this race. Is the eight Horse music.

Going off at 6 to 17 Street sense.

So there it is in all the luminaries.

Now lingo just want a, I mean with Lane, gold learning goals

are, as you know, it's big deal. It's a big deal and wearing gold

shows up. Fashionably late to his show leg

all the to york-style Coastal Elite.

I mean, just look at this guy, check them out espn.com.

This is so much fun to grow solution because we got EJ and

Lane and just in front of us Russian we got we got Jordan and

Matt and m.j. behind us like this is like a big party for us.

We love a party for us all. Right?

Yeah, this stuff looks 2013. 7 4 & 8 here.

So I agree with you on the floor and the top for free, I said

eight, but it's good. You can I said before, yeah,

let's talk real quick about the news that broke yesterday

because I'm sure a lot of people coming in want to know what's

going on with all these affections and what's going on

with Savi. Joseph are, there's probably

people don't even know who's happy Joseph.

Joseph is but we had a very interesting day yesterday.

As we're sitting up here enjoying therby Every began when

practical move the winner of the singer Anita Derby scratched out

with a fever Louis. You think that this could impact

the race quite a bit? But before I get your take we

have heard and talk a lot. So let's hear it.

Let's hear what Dan talks about practical move.

Well, it's not here, just, you just feel sorry for the people

because I thought that horse had a real real chance.

The only question in my mind was, could he get the mile and a

quarter and, you know, Mongolian hero and and Skinner who is Also

out now, I mean, I can't remember the last time not in

recent history anyway, that we had these many, this many

defection, the factions on the eve of the Derby.

All three also eligibles are now in.

Yep. But, you know, you get your

right on top of the rice and and it happened to me not in the

derby. But in the Belmont, I was part

owner of a horse called best Minister, and we were going to

run him in the Belmont. He'd want to A small snake on

the undercard of Pimlico and we were actually on our way to the

airport in Denver, when we got a call from Kenny McPeak and said

the horse horse has a fever and so we can't run them and that's

exactly what happened to practical move.

So you know, he'll come back, he'll be fine, he'll win more

races, but you just hate on top of the most important horse race

in the world, to lose a horse. That had a real now, send

Centurian or Century. Oh wow.

What's how do you say that horses?

Continue our yeah. Continue our.

Yeah, you know, that was smart that they scratch that horse

because that horse had no shot to win.

His last workout was awful. So, you know it happens they'll

win more races but they won't win the Kentucky Derby and at

2023. All right.

Louis how does practical move B? Now, the Derby affect the race.

I think the thing about him is usually when we talk in the

derby about early speed, Dan, we don't respect the Speed that has

a winner. Yeah, right.

So a JC's rotor, whatever that might look like as the early

speed. For example, still in the field,

not a horse that we expect to win the race Dan, right?

Cool story, by the way, on Jason's row, but I'm not

besmirching the story. Yeah, everybody drink it, it's

not needles, dispersement. The the thing about practical

move is, he's fast. The fractions were fast in

California, and he kept up his pace through the last eight

mile, right? So that was different than

adjacent and cheap, it was not cheap, speed is exactly right.

But it also speaks to to a horse like Mandarin hero who was also

in that race and was right with him at the Finish Line, draws

into the field because of some of the detections and Dan and I

will absolutely be including that horse, for example,

absolutely. On our, our cards part of that

is when you lose and we're off by the way, in this race.

When you lose a horse with legitimate speed, who can be

part of the pace setting, it does change the dynamic of the

race because leader cheat. You're chasing cheap speed

instead of legitimate. So Dan mentioned, you know, we

lost continue our, we lost Lord miles and that was the sappy.

Joseph story. We'll talk about here in just

let's let's use the term scratched out for that.

We didn't lose them with a scratch out.

Yes. Yeah.

I think that's fair because we don't want to, they're still

with us. They text.

You're asking if I'm okay for my fault yesterday, I hope you're

okay. Louis, he ate before the show, I

ate before the show. I've been drinking already, so

I'm fine. So we so when we were starting

out there were scratches of the continue, our and Lord miles.

Yes, we actually bring into better horses, right?

I mean that no one thing Commander here on cycling and I

know you respect King Russell. A second place, finish.

The Arkansas Derby. I don't know how things go

better. Yeah, but you think of him as a

better horse of kitchen grass? I mean I think practical moving

Skinner is a real loss of this race.

We're going to have 19 horses in the starting gate.

Now, I mean, Skinner's going to affect the pace has raised a lot

to Louis. He was yeah, no, that's the

front Pace. No, not the front page, but the

clothes and face. Absolutely.

Yes, yeah. They're the horses are out and

so they're, they're coming down the back stretch right now.

Are 13, is in third place. Looking good move.

Open up moving on E2 and things that I liked is in dead last no

fours, women. No I'm talking great.

No. Oh yeah dead last well I think

we're the only one here that said you like no no no Adam

Lewis. Thanks the one.

I mean, come on. It's not like use a long shot.

Come on with this 1313. Get up here, good de nesle live,

reaction to come on 13. Oh my goodness, Louis.

He's fallen. Oh my goodness.

And we listen, you besmirched by a horse and now the 13th behind

the eight. 13th done. Hey come here comes a one at

30721, the seven up, the rail at three, two one.

Oh man, might we get a 30721, we have read a lot.

The 7th at three, two, one, who was my second selection will

come through here. So they that's a seven.

I had 27 second. All right, so a couple

observations so far. It's been very chalky this

morning already Fair. Yeah.

Well and people need to know the lowest person out.

Today is a hundred twenty thousand dollars, right?

Dan made a joke. Yesterday I have more money in

my pocket than they're giving out.

The courses are being blamed for here.

We're not getting that kind of race today.

We're getting the highest quality of horse races today,

Dan? I think you would agree.

Absolutely just ran an optional claimer for 134 freaking

thousand dollars and so what you're getting are many steaks

to begin the day, even the million special weights.

These are royally bred horses owned by serious groups, serious

training and so the throughout the day the prices might be a

bit little bit lower which is why you might need to get

creative exactas trifectas, maybe a Pick three where you

punch it for more than 50 Cent's.

You play FIFA dollars, something like that.

For we have seven stakes races in the first one is coming up

next with race 52. It will talk about here in just

a little bit. That was Ben.

So, I was going to say, it's been chalky, and looks like the

rail is live. It looks like inside.

Lane is laughing day. Yep.

Anything else that you guys observe from being out here in

Turf course, is playing incredibly Fair.

Yes, if you have a good trip for us they have a chance to win.

Yeah. It is closer to winning.

Frontrunners are winning. The speed of the the the clips

essentially, the fractions as we call them in horse, racing are

all very normal and very usual and so the turf course should

lend it if they best perforce to show up today they will win

their races. Okay?

So then going back to the news that kind of broke yesterday and

then one story that's thought I was going to break and then it

looks like it's gone completely the way.

I think we can kind of go that route to say, saffy is to spit,

the Kentucky horse racing trainer, Safi Joseph, Junior.

Florida-based trainer was suspended after.

He is a trainer who had to the horse desk.

Both of the deaths that happened with his horses were non

accident-related Churchill then came behind the Kentucky Horse

Racing commission and suspend it Savvy Joseph Junior from all of

their properties. So did you I'm sorry.

I want to make sure we get this right.

The state Stewart came out and scratched all of his horses from

the weekend, which includes Lord miles in the derby.

Right? And Y 2, y de Barrio in the

Churchill Downs. Yeah.

Yep. Great ones.

Do know and then the church okay behind that and said you're not

allowed to train at any of our tracks.

You're not allowed on the property.

Very important to understand that there's two completely

separate entities for a natural Downs, a private entity.

The state of Kentucky, Stewart's paid by your tax dollars.

If you live here in the Commonwealth, came out with that

ruling first, it should be said. And the wording of that let me

pull up the wording of that because it was strong, it was

but I think it's fair to like the way they worded it.

Loo will come up with the exact wording it So I'm going to the

alarms that they're going to protect the horses, the jockeys

and the horsemen. And the way I take that they're

not necessarily saying that saffy is guilty.

Well, they can't, they can't, they can't say that.

Now, then here's can say, they can say, we don't want him

running the horses and, and, you know, because they haven't and

and who was it. We had a guest yesterday, John

Josh era, who said we may never know, you know?

Right. Well, I wanted to ask you about

that. Yeah.

So the Process here. So people understand horse goes

down, right, right? They've and the horse off.

They take it to UK, right? We've got the lab.

There they go. They go to UK.

They do necropsy it essentially an autopsy on a horse, and then

they come back with your results.

Darren this morning, says be about 10 days, okay, do you

think there's any chance they've started?

And they went. You can't let this guy racism.

It had their hands. I don't trouble me.

A conspiracy theory. Sir - no no I'm agreeing with

you now. All right.

Something had to happen very soon some and just so we know

the difference. There have been four horse

destiny that correct? Is it 5:00?

Now there have been four that I know of was training for no

reason. Yeah and and you know the ones,

the want the breakdowns during the running before strips on the

grass. That's a different thing than

having a heart attack F. Yeah.

And to of Joseph horses, the to that he lost he didn't break

down on the track. They basically, after they had

run had heart attacks and died so that the state had to know

something more than that for them to come back and say Joseph

can't run a horse this weekend at Churchill Downs.

So but but here's what I want to say.

There. And I don't want to be morbid.

But horses are going to break down absolutely horses.

As we said, our thousand-pound animals that you can put your

thumb and your index finger around their ankles.

You have January and there right there, your dad is there is

going to be breakdowns. That's part of the game.

It's just, it's not just like, but thousands of people die

every year in car accidents. We don't say let's do away with

with cars. Ouch.

I mean, I did, but most people that's a hard.

I mean, that's a hard line to take, but then I saw people say,

oh, that's inhumane to race these horses.

Let these beautiful denim will happen in the field, but wait a

second Mike, do you know how many of these beautiful animals

there would be if there was no racing?

The answer is 0 0 0 because that's what they're bred to do.

Farms in Lexington aren't going to spend millions and billions

of dollars breeding horses. So they can stand out in the

field and look pretty. So but but so that part is part

of the game. Unfortunately I had a horse

breakdown and had to be put down right here on this stretch that

we're looking at Churchill Downs.

But Joseph is something more than that and and I think for

them to say no you're not, you're not innocent till proven

guilty. I think that's the right thing

to do for leisure, enjoy. And this is the A I take it and

I think Louis will kind of agree with this logic to some degree

and can I look at it? Like number one, all the

eyeballs are on this right now, they're dealing with this

baffert situation that they've got to make sure that all their

eyes are dotted. And our teaser cross, they see

an unusual circumstances for two horses in the same day to go

down. Basically, with non injury

deaths at the at the Churchill Downs with and they're looking

for the common denominator. So they're going to eliminate

the common denominator because that makes That's why logic that

makes sense, right? I mean whether or not you think

it's sappy is a you know what other you think about sappy

doesn't really matter. It's about eliminating the

common denominator until they can get more information and

figure it out. Because if this have a horse

goes down with the jockey that jockeys life is in danger.

I mean, so from the Stewart's, the exact quote, for the

betterment of racing the Health and Welfare of our equine

athletes, and the safety of our jockeys, all horses trained by

trainer Sapphic, Joseph Junior are scratched effective

immediately and until A further notice this action is taken

after consultation with mr. Joseph and includes after

consultation, with either and includes Lord, miles, who's

entered in the 149th running of the Kentucky Derby statement

from the from Ray, Perry Secretary of public protection.

Cabinet Kentucky's, committed to being the global leader in

safety and integrity of horse racing.

We fully support the stewards actions today to ensure the

safety of our equine, and human athletes.

While an investigation is ongoing it to the unusual

circumstances surrounding these tragic fatalities.

You look so I came on yesterday and I thought he did a really

nice job of pointing out that Churchill does not contribute to

the, to the force injury database.

That's a problem. It is, they need to be better

has happened. They need to be better, and I'm

standing here and I love this place.

I come all the time. I'm credential to every single

race that will happen at this place this year.

I heard a man say he likes this better than human.

I did not hear that. So I have to work with him five

more days next week. So I'm not going to take any

shots at Churchill. I'm here on their dime.

I'm very clever with, I don't know.

With church, we're not taking a shower right now.

This is just common sense, contribute to the database

because if we have all of the information we're going to make

better decisions. Yeah.

And we're going to make better moves down the road in the

future. That's all I'm getting at.

It's not about, I'm not bashing Churchill.

I'm just saying oh no process need.

I'll be back. I wasn't commenting on that.

I agree with that 100%. I was commenting on the racing

part on the fact that you guys like Churchill better than and I

don't know this answer, you all might know the answer either,

this Keeneland different do they have no idea, you'll be using a

horse racing commission, thing? Or is it a Churchill thing?

It Churchill thing, they do not do it for Fairgrounds.

They do not do it for Colonial for the places that they own

that they operate. They do not do well.

So, anyway, that's the big story there.

The one thing I just want to caution people, things happen,

headlines, go out. And we as a society, make

judgments off headlines way too much.

The other part is that you mentioned that I think is

absolutely and this white bead and starts calling a conspiracy

theorist again, it is Derby week, man and so making a very

public Like move on saffy actually makes both PR, but it

all. It makes it makes double sense,

PR, and just safety of everybody.

Absolutely. So, and, and hope actually.

Yeah, it affects, it gets better gets banned for but cream,

possibly, then, if horses are just dropping dead on the track,

you can't have that. Especially, you know, and and

that's that's the way it has to be agree with you.

What Churchill is saying, what Churchill is saying, they set it

to baffert. They're now saying it to Joseph,

Don't mess with our biggest week of the year.

No, no, no, no, not the right we want?

No, this is a celebration. We make most of our money on

City shut down for three days. Exactly.

Exactly. And so they're saying don't mess

with our game boys. You can you can do that in

California, you can do it in Florida.

You're not doing it here, Derby. We all right, a couple of

things. People need to know this is the

horse racing. Happy hour hanging out with you

on ESPN. Louisville here on ESPN 680

1057. If you're listening on a smart,

Speaker in your car. However you're hanging out with

us today, we really appreciate it.

Reminder some programming that's going on.

On this station will have Derby stuff until about 7:00 today.

Until 7:30, after us is the NBC National coverage.

We're on 1:49 here, tomorrow from Churchill Downs, and then

227 tomorrow. To 7:30 tomorrow, for Kentucky

Derby 149, the presentation on ESPN rules presented by

Kentucky, fish and wildlife FanDuel racing Kroger in naira

bets. And of course, the front side

covers from, Cox's Evergreen Liquors.

Kroger FanDuel Racing. We personally have presented by

our friends at Horseshoe Indianapolis and I wanted to

talk about them a little bit live racing tomorrow in

Shelbyville just east of Indianapolis.

If you're in that market, a cool day to go there, not pay fate

thousand dollars to go to a horse race and you can bet on

all the races, they're all the races here.

They'll have a nice party going up there.

It's one of their busier days of the year.

So it's an excellent chance to go, hang out with them.

We're also sponsored by our friends over at Mays plastic

surgery and Aesthetics will talk with chat tomorrow.

Yeah, dr. Chad maze.

He is a part of The Syndicate, a part of our big thing. 85 ticket

solutely was Sleazy and strudel and all those guys.

And so, we will make sure that we do that.

But I'm very pleased to bring a new friend, an easement plays

here, who's joining us here from amplify and how to make sure I

prefect and lots of different things.

And these are you I'm very well. How are you guys Happy?

Okay, happy. Oh, gee, dad wanted to have you

up here. Want to talk about?

Amplified a little bit and what you do?

Because there are so many things people come here.

They see this, right? They see the track, they see the

horses running, they don't know that.

Fifteen hundred people working on the backside or how many

assistant trainers. There might be in all these

kinds of things. What is your role in horse

racing? Yeah, so I'm the executive

director of amplify horse racing, which is a 501, c, 3,

non-profit, with a mission of creating Pathways for Youth and

Young adults to get involved in the industry.

And so a big focus with that you know unlike other horse breeds

and disciplines it's not like you know a kid can just go out

and buy a thoroughbred and start riding and racing their own

Thoroughbred, right? So Our main focus is on careers

and the fact that you can have, you know, a really amazing

enriching career working in the Thoroughbred industry.

And you do not just even in a Hands-On capacity, but you have

to have media, are you have to have marketing people?

You know, you have to have people who are involved in the

hospitality side, as well as focusing on all the hands that

it takes to get a horse up here into the paddock and out into

the Starting Gate, to start the race.

And are you lexington-based? I am.

Yeah. But we consider ourselves Of

national. This is like our year of really

growing nationally, awesome. And where can people find you?

They can find us that we're really active on social media.

So at amplify horse racing on Instagram and Facebook, and then

amplify racing on Twitter. So we're going to be, we're

gonna have lots of stuff will be posting on Instagram today,

that's kind of our main platform.

So, you know, we try to have a lens like educating people about

what's going on. So, if there's a young person

that's watching The Oaks at the Derby for the first time, you

know what? What questions might they have?

That we can explain in more details, they can understand it

better. Like is so excited.

Why? Cause she's in, she's

introducing people the horse race.

I love it. That is actually why we had this

show honestly. Like, we want to, we want to be

a way to bring people into the sport.

Educate them about how to enjoy the sport, whether it's gambling

or just having a cigar enjoying the day of the tracks, your out.

So I love it. Don't have the kids smoke

cigars. Don't do that.

Yeah, they need to wait a little while to partake in.

Not give us your background. He did.

You have a background in the Thoroughbred industry.

Yeah, it's funny. I did not want to offer, so I

grew up near Fargo North Dakota and these from Fargo on Twitter,

you have any serve our hunter. That's right.

I gotta own it. You know, we have a, we have a

wood chipper. I know where you can find one

But yeah, so so I actually saw the movie Ruffian when I was 12

years old. And that's what inspired me to

really want to get involved in racing.

It's just, it was a really, her story is so beautiful and

depicting like, how much these horses really love their jobs

and they're bred to run. They love to race.

And then also the human equine relationship.

And then we do have a really tiny track in Fargo called the

North Dakota Horse Park. So, I did just about any job

that you could possibly We do there.

It's like you show up to a small Racetrack and you're like, can I

have a job? And they're like, great.

Here's five jobs, you know. And so, I ponied.

I worked in Communications. I learn how to gallop I was the

official clocker at one point. Wow.

And that was a really good, you know, stepping stone to work my

way up to all their internships and yeah.

So, do you have a pig today for the Kentucky Oaks, you know, my

For the Oaks is gonna be Botanical, okay?

Um I do have a friend that a couple friends that have a

connection to her so you know, they're pretty high on her for

you. Like a brad Cox corset horse at

Churchill Downs. I mean, yeah.

You like a brad Cox horse at Churchill Downs.

Chocolate Center what a bad way to handicap.

I'm definitely a little bit surprised that she, you know,

like morning line is 421 that she has such low odds but what

would you gonna Bet On It? If you're going to bet on our, I

have good news for you. The last I saw she was up to 8

to 10. Yeah there you go.

I love to see that. I actually really interested in

my I really like Wonder Wheel today as well with some of Mark

hasse's horses. It seems like they can have a

couple clunker races and then they come back really strong and

you know the the last couple races that I've seen her in.

I just haven't been very impressed with her physically

and then the last couple mornings watching her train,

she's just glowing. So I think she could be coming

into it as you know an interesting sight, long shot,

love it. Well thank you very much for

joining us. I think I want to mention we've

discovered from the website. We have many Hispanic listeners.

And Anis does a, she does a program in Spanish called

luxury, fix that. With a dart would be sky and

Claudio. Spadaro?

Is it weekly? How often do you guys get

together? We're kind of bi-weekly.

Okay here, so this year we're kind of more focusing on, you

know, the lead up to Big races. We so yeah, they can find us on

the Instagram of America's best racing.

It's usually Thursday nights at 9 p.m. okay.

So that's after the horse racing happy hours to go hang out with

them after us. Yeah, you go.

Little dummies, really. Appreciate it was great to meet

you today. Thank you guys so much.

Thank you. Awesome.

Thanks, have a great day. Okay, we're gonna do this.

We're going to go to a little bit of an early break.

We're going to come back. We got three.

Stakes races that we're going to handicap pretty much live

because the, the fifth and the sixth race are going to be

during our show, the seventh race is right after our show.

And then we'll start handicapping starting with race

eight and working towards the Kentucky, Oaks in the free time.

So and then, we got our man Gainey Brewer, who's going to

join us for a segment after we go famous Tennessee, horsepower,

never ever, ever, ever back off? Yeah, it listed get out of here.

He's already talking. Craft is all about Tennessee

over Kentucky. I do, you know, I mean, we'll do

a whole segment on it next. All right.

We'll be back after this. Welcome back to the horse

racing. Happy hour live from Churchill

Downs, for Kentucky Oaks 149. Now, here's my glue and Dan.

All right, we're back here at Churchill Downs.

We're joined with by our good friend, Danny Brewer.

All right. Thanks guys.

Appreciate you have, you know, I'm so honored because not only

am I here with Big Mike and Louis, but we got the Great Dan

Issel, the horse of King of the jump shot.

That's right. Up a real Thoroughbred stood up

telling you don't tell Danny when I say about people from

Tennessee, he is. Yeah, I know you're just jealous

is what it is because you went to Kentucky so unsafe, that's

okay. All right, from horse racing

scoop, you can go check out his stuff, tell people your Twitter

feed, all that kind of stuff. So you can catch me.

I do some handicap it on. Friday's on WS radio, I've got a

handicap in spot during drive time.

I usually there's about 720. Cool, I also have stuff on their

website and then I've got the horse racing scoop.com website -

and I've got a YouTube channel, and all that good stuff.

I'm trying to catch up with you guys.

I'm not there yet, but I'm chasing you.

Yeah, that's true. You're not caught up.

So the we met Danny and a cool thing that happened was Danny is

the first guy to join the National Turf Riders from

Tennessee, which is incredible for the first broadcasters to

get in and so we were in the same.

Same class which is awesome. Will also always be classmates.

And so we met him this last year at Keeneland for for Breeders

Cup. Well, you're out here.

I know you love coming to Churchill Downs.

It one of your spots, Keeneland, of course to kind of it's a

weird thing to say, but being a Tennessee and what do you

consider your local track? I've it Churchill.

This is where I spend most of my time because they got longer

meets, you know? The kingdom meat is fantastic.

But it's so short. Yeah, sure.

You know, I mean, first of April, end of April is gone in

October, same way, first of October.

End of October is gone. Chill.

They have, you know, the three different Meats.

The spring meet goes from the the first of May to the end of

June and then they got that short September meeting.

They got the November meat. So, Churchill is probably my

home track Keeneland in the Triple Crown have one thing in

common, which is because of how keeneland's schedule is at the

end of their schedule is Breeders Cup, right?

So they have to run their best races first.

Then in the spring it's the end is Derby so they have to run

their first year at their best races first and so the you know

the Derby's the first of the Triple Crown and Keeneland has

That same schedule as Churchill Downs.

Yes, exactly. And that's kind of interesting

point that you brought up because most tracks build toward

the enemy around, the big piece at the end of their meat.

I guess it's the track that it's actually closest to Tennessee

would be Kentucky Downs. But you talk about short meets,

that's seven days a year seven days of bliss.

So I'm going to tell you what Kentucky Downs, if you want to

really see some good races and make some money, that's the

place. If you're guessing right because

unpredictable, you know, some horses, love it, some horses

don't but the payouts are can be tremendous and with their per

race paths to The Horseman. They have brought in so many

good horses, you know, and it's only going to get better.

I heard an interview with Ted Nicholson who runs the racing

part of Kentucky Downs and he said, I mean their cheapest

race. This year, the main races are

150,000, he said they're not only hearing from trainers.

Around the country, they're hearing from European countries

to come in and run this year. So the quality will only get

better only get better. And that's right.

It's the only European style course in the United States and

they have the highest per race payout of any track in the

United States. So, yes, it's a big drawing card

for them, for sure. All right, guys?

Listen, as much as we will learn all about all this great stuff.

We got the horses coming on the race for the fifth race.

People want to know who to bet on this is a big deal because

this is the alley. She There's a mountain 16th on

the dirt, but we have art collector.

Here, we have last year's Derby sperm in a rich strike, which

hardly ever happens at the Derby winner.

Come back and race and then rack Cox's West will power is taken a

whole bunch of money in this race short field.

We're going to scratch the seven Giant game.

So there's gonna be a six-horse field.

We're going to do a little mock you know just a little.

We're going to just talk about Sandy to hear a little bit of

guess. Yo, Basics course out.

So who do we like in this one? Louis who do you like here, man?

Okay, so I think the real question is here, do you trust

the favorite enough to get 60 cents on the dollar or is an art

collector at 12:56? Better value or the Derby winner

who loves this track and 8 to 10, how would you lean there?

Well, you know, I think that the race is a little short for Rich

strike, just because of mountain and six sounds, right?

I don't know. So I'm gonna go with smile

happy. Okay, Make Me chords.

I think that's the horse. It did give you really good

value. Having to 171 right now I've

horse and I think he's 2 for 2 in the money on the track 1 win

1 second place or maybe at the distance I think that's what it

is but yeah I think smile happy may give you your best value

overall and perhaps you know you put West will power on top and

you throw a couple other underneath and to lower your

ticket price but hopefully you can cash with that way.

All right, Dan, what about you? Who do you like in this house?

Well, I've got West willpower single in my early, pick five,

got it, but I had no idea that it would, he would be, I mean, I

knew he'd be favored. But, you know, in a field with

this quality, I mean, with, with art collector, Last Samurai is,

is changing jocks to Luis saez and he's for, he in his four

starts this year. He's won two steaks.

Rich strike you mentioned. Smile happy.

I think West. Will power wins the race, but

you can't take three to five in this field.

It's a real real strong, Louisiana opinions.

And I agree with Dan, I think if you're playing to win bed, here

you go with a horse like art collector because what it wants

a nice number or a smile. Happy at 71, what's interesting?

He's the only other horse that's dropped in price is 81 morning

line down to 71 so other people agree with Danny here, but I

just I'm with dance 325. On a wind bed here.

You got to really like that, huh?

Now I understand if Dan's talking about, you know, early

sequence have you seen the wheel pays for the pick five Dan I

have not? They had they have to be.

They have to be zero because there's been one favorite after

another win. My third.

I want Dan is very good at this. I want you to guess what the

what the pay is going to be our Wednesday.

The early pick five, the payoff is $74 240.

Oh my goodness. Wow, Bobby alone was Willpower

right? Yeah, that would be a nice

little play. How big is your ticket like

thirty-six bucks? No, it was a little bigger than

that but less than 100. Oh yeah, lesson, a home is

great. I can get better than two to one

on your money value. Then July having it then right?

Yeah, like that. Alright, dance back.

But the funny little kid. Look look, I went for 11:00

yesterday, dance on the precipice of barely pick five

here. I mean, okay, they can do

whatever they want. Talking to the governor on the

backside with that other show. Just get out of the way.

I will be fine. That's right.

I want my bed by getting us his head.

Attaboy. All right.

What else is surprised you about being out here?

Danny. Well you know I think that I saw

the grandstand down there last Saturday when I was here to

watch morning workouts but you know I walked inside the the the

club part of it. Oh it's fantastic.

That is a fabulous fabulous addition to Churchill Downs down

there. I mean incredible Any race

tracks would love to have that as their grandstand.

Oh Lord, have mercy. I mean Johnny, yeah.

That's the whole thing. Yes, right.

Well, I think what we're excited about, maybe you'll come up on a

Saturday or Sunday during the fall, been a little football

college football. They're going to the sports game

will be live here by the end and then we'll be able to rest the

horses and best football saying Tom could it get any better

maybe girls are something there now that you know, Jamie's from

Tennessee and So excited that will left us as he calls us.

Are you excited to have will Levis as a Tennessee Titan?

Well, you know, I really am not a big pro football guy.

I think the kid can play. I think that Tennessee, Titans

needed a breath of fresh air at the quarterback spot.

You know, I kind of being a homer.

I kind of hope they drafted hand and hooker surf in the seat.

Sure, but I was wanting to see happen, but, no, I think if the

kid can flat play and it's good that he'll be wearing, the, the

blue down. Are in Tennessee.

Do you have any other plays today on this card that you

think are real good? Is it a Caravel?

Who do you like in the Oaks that kind of stuff because we are

here for Friday Oaks you'll, I think that wet paint is she has

been lights out. She's training.

Fantastic of talk to Brad Cox about her.

She's just really on her game. Her closing kick.

I said it sweeter than the smell of Magnolia Blossom.

I mean, it really is, she could pack it up and down, but I kind

of like Norm Cassie tortoise to South lawn.

I think it was damn that she will give you good value.

I really like Norman it would be a great short for Norm, being a

Louisville guy that grew up here and grew up at the track and

under his father and all that kind of stuff.

So, I like South lawn and you're like, I don't know, I'll say

this. Did you guys see the and tell me

no lies video. Yes, you of what happened with

her? If she runs like that this

morning, he's doing great. She's fantastic.

Said you something happened, and she got spooked Ook sure.

And she's so geeked up, and that was why she killed that's part

of the that's part of the intricacy of Derby week is,

these forces are used to going back side, and it's tranquil.

It's quiet. It's calm.

And then they get back there this week.

This 5,000 people walking around, it's totally different

people everywhere, you're right? And something spooked her, but

he said she is so geeked up. So I'm thinking and tell me, no

lies, she might be there at the end.

More charges could be, they're really great, good stuff.

Another one that I like is I like his other horse.

Get her. Get her number, which I think he

runs tomorrow in the Churchill Downs.

So I think I think that Peter Mills bringing a pretty strong

hand, I say go and then we'd actually get to this the first

segment. But there were some rumors

circulating yesterday about Forte.

A video came out salt for Taste. Humble 40 looks great this

morning on the track. Looks like the Forte things

totally miss, you know, was blown out of the water.

And this horse is going to race, but he loves me, I think, I

think so. You know, I was back there at

the barn yesterday, he looked fantastic.

He was getting His little muscular treatment all that

stuff was back there again this morning, he looks fantastic.

You know, I saw him jog around the track, I think he's good.

The all the sources that I've spoken to, I did not speak of

Pletcher directly, but all the sources that I talk to that did

talk head said that the horse is fine.

So, tell me. We're now that we're at the

Derby. What is your approach to deter

be? Do you bet you try to bet who

you think are the best horses or do you try to bet the best

value? I think it's a little bit of

both. I think that you want the horse

who's coming in, Hottest, which I think is Angel of Empire, but

the, it's a, who's who you think is going to be the best

tomorrow, not necessarily the best horse, but who's going to

be the best tomorrow? And and so I think it an 8 to 1.

I'm all arranged all of Empire because like I said, I think

he's really coming in hot. You may be from Tennessee, but

but us Danny's think alike. I like I like Angel vampire

tomorrow and I, then The two fillies you mentioned wet paint

and Norm Cassie's Philly. South lawn We're on the same

page Landing. How about that in Tennessee?

And Kentucky guy agree and on something that's new.

All the prep, stop the presses. See the corporate media would

hate this, they would hate they hate it.

Yeah, yeah, we get Blankenbaker up here and he starts agreeing

with us and then be all trouble. So the horse races are

approaching. The Starting Gate is almost post

time. You got a couple more minutes to

get your bed in again minutes. He got about 90 seconds.

Yeah. Well about time they load.

You got some time, you got a couple minutes.

What was interesting? I noticed.

We did you see this year horse? They brought him to the back of

the Starting Gate about seven or eight minutes ago and while the

other horses were way up the track warming up, yep, they've

had smile happy down there, right?

Looking at the crowd right by the Starting Gate and he's been

there a good long while and he'll load last.

This is just what they do with him.

Dan. This is just who he is.

She'll watch all the other horses go online.

They do their thing and then smile.

Happy needs a little bit of extra help.

When going into the gate, he's just that kind of horse.

You see this a little bit. I remember you'll see this with

Japanese horses tomorrow where they're where they're walking

walking walking walking maybe even on the turf course before

the Kentucky Derby because they just are so used to doing those

huge loss workout. Yeah, they really need to move

their legs. I was surprised you didn't jog

back, but smile happy. I think it's more of a

temperament thing than anything. He's loading in the gate right

now. Not too happy about it.

They're working with him. He really does not want to do

not want to go in the game. I'm not one of those, not like

the gate. And and so, sometimes these

horses They get the horses near the gate, so that they get

comfortable being around the gate and them when they move

them in there, a little bit more comfortable, but yeah, he's just

never been a horse. I'd like to go in the gate.

They might have it here. As I said, they've got, they got

Aid assistance starters, they look like five, guys.

Getting are insane. And, you know, I, we joke about

the different tracks and different things.

The gay cruise, The outriders Churchill Downs.

Keeneland, they all do a great job at sake.

We're really spoiled here. All right.

Ready to go again, the movement out of the to horse there.

And they are off here in the alley.

Sheba grade to Dan I'm with you, this is a surprisingly, short

race at a mile. And a sixteenth Danny brought

that up you would think this would be a mile and an eighth

race with older horses, you think?

But I don't know whether it's because it's earlier in the

season for some, right? That's why they run it a

mountain and 16th you go. All these guys are coming by

widely race in the a West will powers on the lead, but he's not

getting an easy lead. Their first time happy, they're

not moving over the old. Quarter was 24 and one which is

very favorable for him, very favorably on my own and 16th,

extremely favorable. Just so people know if you're

listening, you're not getting your kind of new to horse

racing. Sure, we'll see 22 seconds and

that's a very fast quarter of a mile.

The 2324 is a little bit more on the norm.

I think, like 23 and 1/8 23.8. Yeah, is about the heart.

Yeah, I would say that anything above that is slow and anything

below. That is a little fast.

I didn't give me so that way. You considering the distance of

the race, right? So his horse here, smile, happy

right there tracking and here comes a, I've got this looks

like a great finish coming here. That's real healthy ready to

him. Is pressing we're going to be

coming down the stretch here they are on the turn.

Now here come the top three horses smile, happy doing a

great job art collector on the outside.

How about the mph on the big screen?

It's a new edition and our Derby winner is way back art

collector. Danny Danny.

Collector. Trying to close.

Damn, that's willpower is going to get beat right here.

Daddy gives it out cold on the show and by the way, I put that

I put that two dogs across the board on that horse right there.

No 51 here. The one guarding like are

actually she going there and I toss smile happy.

I look stupid and Rich. Strike might still be running,

right? Was dead.

Last at last rich? Rich strike.

Won't win another. So, you know, the sad part about

rich strike. And I said this on my, my Derby

podcast but every preview podcast, I'll say this, he may

never win another race, but he won the dog own Kentucky ever.

Take that away from him, I don't know that.

He will ever win another race, know what?

Depends on where he runs at, but in the higher stakes, races and

like I said, I think this race is just too short for him.

I was surprised that they bypassed because they could have

run him at Keeneland and course you know who am I My I'm it's

like me trying to tell Dan Issel had to shoot a jump shot.

I mean these guys don't need to listen to me but I was curious

why they didn't run him in a little bit longer race at

Keeneland instead of running them in this race at a mountain

16. All right, what's up?

Speaking of Kentucky, Derby winners, who your top, you know,

two three horses on that race tomorrow, angel of Empires who

I'm going with on top. If I'm going to take a swing of

course. I like for tell you I mean I

think Forte is without question going to be their

accomplishments. Yes right.

Yes. But Confidence game.

I think Confidence Game, is it can be, he's the most, he's the

boss, he's officially become the bottom.

Reincarnate is the most curious one on the morning line for me,

he's 50 to 1. He's got Johnny V, ride them and

he's never been out of the money, which is kind of this

kind of interesting to me that he's at 12:45.

Get what you say? Something - I don't like the way

he's looked in the mornings. Okay.

All right, I don't think he likes the surface and he may

not. I was just curious.

Why? He considering all the things

surrounding him, why he would be at 50 to But he's now at 1701.

Yeah. Well, there's some local

connections to go along with that.

Yeah, but by the punch some money in there.

He's Danny Burger. Give us all the socials again so

people can find you. Let that all your social media

social media. Okay, we got em on Twitter at

sports Brew, you can catch me on wgns radio on their website also

catch me on horse racing scoop.com, got a hunch bet, a

bunch back a horse and get paid You impress me, you just picked

a seven to one winner or you can say for the embattled real

quick, you're going to handicap the eighth race was just real

quick or what? I'm trying to handicap the

eighth race with us real quick handicapped.

The eighth race yesterday's race, they are unbridled.

Now I'll tell you how big of a dummy.

I am. Alright.

So we're going to go on to talk about the five and a half,

Furlong Sprint on the turf, and this is the unbridled Sydney

steaks. I guess presented by a Turfway

park, by the way. All right.

Willie tell. A little bit about Caravelle.

What we got to see in this world.

There's a fun one because you know, this is the time of year,

Dan? Knows that horses who ran the

biggest races in November, a lot of them come off, what we call a

layoff a winter lay off right? Where they take some time off

the track. Sure right, so horse, Micron

come, kick them out for 3045 days and what do they do during

that time? They let them be Horses, Don't

They don't brush them, they don't bathe them.

They put them out in a field. They might bring them in at

night, if it gets cold, right? They let they just let him be

horses and so give me a little bit.

I'm off. Its like your Summers when you

were playing basketball, right? Yep.

And you put the basketball away. Forget.

You're a basketball player for a while.

And, you know, Caravelle is one of these horses and she ran in

the Breeders Cup Turf spent last year, be the boys at Keeneland.

Really impressive. Under Tyler got Valley on comes

back at Keeneland again wins against the boys.

Again, she gets to go against the girls today.

Little bit of a different spot for her.

This is still a Grade Nothing But it's Churchill Downs.

Still spoke three hundred thousand dollars which in

California is a Grade 1 and so today we honor thousands a lot

for first fret and turf Billy's. That's a big.

That's what it's a nice. It's a nice chunk of change.

I love Caravelle in this spot. You don't have to but do you

love caramel on the spot? Oh without question open because

I think that she has to turn a foot and you know the questions

were okay so how is she going to come back?

And it Canaan and I was there watching her and also said I

mean like just very very impressive so no I I think that

she is without question the one in this race worth noting

purchased in 2021 for a half million bucks and then they

decided to keep racing her. She is 6 years old, sometimes

lie. Now it's time to go to green

said, not for her show, you know, and they, and they, they

gave a half a million for as a broodmare.

Yes, not expecting her to finish up like this.

They'll I'm sure they're shooting at the, at the Breeders

Cup again, this year. She made nine hundred and thirty

thousand dollars last year's already made Made 170,000 this

so Dana she an absolute single in this race.

Or is this a horse? Is there anyone on the scale

that can really challenge her here?

You know I didn't, I didn't see it.

I like the a horse a little bit but she'd been running at

Hawthorne and the fairgrounds and she shows up at Keeneland in

a in a smaller stake race than what Caravelle one does not

happen. She was fractious in the gate

and didn't have a very good trip but Anybody beats her, I think

it'll be the eight horse. I think a possibility would be

the one coming out of California.

It's the only thing I can never figure out.

If people don't know, they replace the turf course here,

last year. We're still learning about it.

Frankly, we don't really know what sins and out.

It's played fair to this point this meeting, I think.

However, you know, if that California speed travels on

Turf, that's usually a winning winning combination.

Jonathan Thomas John Velazquez tomorrow or today.

Excuse me in the eighth with based on the 1621 Might be one

of those that either picks off a piece or is the one that I just

goes wire to wire? What about what about the three

Majestic D? Or, you know, I'm a big Brendon

Walsh got and it's got Ortiz, riding.

And I know at the, disparate on TV, any good on the turf, that's

a thing, by the way, if you ever see Iran and Chad team up on a

Turf race, you better just always no matter what the odds

are. Amen.

Even though I know, Chad Brown got the trainer here, but go

ahead and start it again. I'm sorry.

Yeah, but likes it Brendon Walsh here at Churchill.

On Turf. I think he's usually a pretty,

pretty solid. Absolutely.

You gotta love the number of 15 wandering down the morning.

So, I left that a horse in that race.

Javier Castellano is aboard. The nine little Jewel.

Here ran ran fit last timeout by two lengths at Keeneland and was

actually closing into that company needed needed a little

bit. More time won't get it here.

I'll be very, honestly, won't have it's exactly the same

length of race, but I like this horse because before that 12

straight Turf Sprint's at 5:00. Furlongs.

So has shown that the get it done at five.

Furlongs need a little more time.

Last time at Keeneland isn't going to get that today, but at

least has that five-and-a-half, if Xavier can get a good jump

out of the gate here, a little Jewel, the 9 would be right

after Caravelle from. All right.

So just to recap real quick, this is race eight that we are

talking about for all of our people, betting, really?

All of us really love the 11 horses.

A heavy favorite, who's a deserving heavy favorite, but

some other horses that you might want to consider the one horse,

the four horse the, I'm sorry, the one horse.

The three horse. The three horse will be our long

shot play. And then the 8 and the 9.

Yep. So Dan likes the eight.

So we gotta make sure the Ace in there as well two years ago.

But yeah, I mean if you were playing the pick for which

starts in this race, you want a single right here?

I don't think that's a bad play here at all.

Okay. Yeah.

So all right it's one of the things we that we talk about

people to understand all these stakes races.

This is comment, we're almost like exactly six months from the

Breeders Cup, which where we met, Danny all these other

races. Our kind of like Breeders Cup

light races. Yes and caravels 100% one of

those superstars of sport, we say falling over the Phillies

and really understanding some of these other horses that were

going to see what a Turf Sprinter like this as a male.

Oh yeah, of caravels, quality would not be racing right now.

Yeah, no chain, right? He'd be in the breeding shed.

No? Yeah, yeah.

So what are some of the other superstars in horse racing?

That people are going to see this week this weekend?

Oh I, that is the race right now.

A lot, Troy in great one for a reason, it's always a great one

field, the kids search results, who won the acorn, you get a

secret oath and won the Kentucky Oaks back.

You get Society in this race and picked off two of those.

Great 13 year old Filly races last year in the Cotillion and

in the it was an excuse me. The Charlestown Oaks is a great

three. Excuse me, you get desert Dawn,

who's hit the board in a bunch of grade ones as well.

Polly's pearls in that race. I'm already has a rising or year

old star. She didn't run great, you

mentioned That Caravelle sold for half a million, look at a

more Ray. She's so last November for

400,000, they kept her in training this year, she's

already won four hundred and fifty seven thousand.

So there they've got a free Philly and by the way last time

out you want to grade one so she's there out.

They've got the they won back to purchase price and now she's

worth a hundred million and a half two million dollars running

in the 750,000. Yeah, yeah. 1% could absolutely

get there because she she's a very uh, he's a very quality

Philly, for sure. I think somebody that you talk

about someone, you'll see tomorrow as Cody's wish, what

probably the most heartwarming story in the whole sport, no

doubt orbit racing. Cody's wish he's somebody that

you can really grab ahold of as far as just a great story, and

one more Superstar out. There are there, we're gonna see

good night, all of Tomorrow, Good call an absolute.

Just skip the Superstar, and that erase it.

And then we might see a budding Superstar tomorrow in that first

race. Race with extra NATO and there's

who's the other horse can trace that you liked a lot looser Old

Judge, so some maybe some superstars on their own.

Also thinking the American Turf tomorrow major.

Dude, the one horse in that race could develop into a really,

really serious Turf horse. Also in that race is a dead

horse named Carl spackler. I think both of those horses are

potential, bricks-and-mortar level.

My absolutely going forward. Especially Carl spackler.

I think it'd be cute. Okay, we're going to take you

though, dude. I mean that.

You're doing, I like that. And you of you done, it is your

new agency. The weirdest thing about it to

any things are hanging out. That's your second.

Appreciate it, guys. Like I said, back on horsey, get

paid, let's have some fun. All right, thank you.

We're going to take a break, pay the bills when we come back.

We're going to talk about the ninth race and the tenth race.

Go ahead Louis. I just want to say, if you're

looking for a Tip Sheet we put them together.

The yeah, absolutely horse racing, happy our.com, two bucks

a day to Bucks tomorrow, we made them so that people can afford

them. It just hang out for the day.

We're calling it set up some beer money.

So send us some beer money to Bucks a day horse racing.

Henry, 11:00 a, by the way, I did go away for 11 years.

Yeah he's off to a good start today so go find that Tip Sheet

horse race in happy hour.com, we'll be right back.

This is the horse racing. Happy hour.

You're listening to the horse racing.

Happy hour live from Churchill Downs for Kentucky Oaks 149.

Now here's Mike Lewis and Dan, all right James, I got something

for you tomorrow. I just want to make sure you

understand like this little whistle plays, the country music

but this is now our show. So I went all hip-hop from now

on. Yeah.

All right. I'll hip-hop tomorrow, you know,

I got you down. That's all right.

I thought Avery mixed all this music and these cigars and all

this This Youth and I don't know why that woman's dress is so

they'll actually who would complain about the dresses?

Listen, we got it. The text line is open.

So if you have a great Derby question or anything you want to

do, like a mountain cabin, like put it in the text line and

we'll answer it a lot of layer. Lou, we got anything there to

get to it all. Four, three, seven, nine six,

eighty five, zero, two four, three seven.

Nine 680. Is street ball still in The

Syndicate? Is he going to Derby Street will

be here? He told us tomorrow today.

Yeah we'll see that. That is amongst the least

reliable things that's ever been said, yes, I'm James feeble and

I'm going to show up. Yes, it's just not not a thing.

Lois, are you okay after yesterday?

Yes I'm fine. Thank you very much.

Coming down numerous times of the text Light.

May write cares about Louis Mage wins the Derby and sets the

track record. So we're going over Secretariat

with made coming on the text line.

I'll give you 100 to 1 on that one.

Texter lamenting bedding. Rich strike in a trifecta box II

did not run. Well, it was not shocking.

It was not good. Chuckling I don't, I didn't have

smile happy in the top four. You're really on a Danny killed

it on. That one.

Was all over. All right.

So that's good timing for dinner.

You mentioned the lot, or in which I want to get to in this

race because this is one of our favorite 9 R H9 favorite.

One of our favorite races of the year.

You just, you know, it's always a monster and this year is no

exception whatsoever. This is a mom assistant on the

dirt. It is for Phillies and mayor's

who are four years old and up. And again, we love the Phillies.

When it comes to The stars of the sport Dan?

Yes the Oaks winner. Secret oath is in here?

Yes, you like, are you going against her?

I I like her but she she doesn't have to win this race.

I'm going to Jen. I'm going to tell you what I'm

going to do. I'm going to play Society first

and second in some tries with some of these other fillings.

I, you know, that that is she was an outstanding

three-year-old she got Really, really hot at the end of last

year. And then in the Breeders Cup,

ran against older Phillies. I mean she was no, no no contest

with Mal of fat, and Claire are, and that bunch, she came back

first start was in the Madison going, seven, furlongs.

I think that was a little little too short night.

Olive got big by good night, out of the champion, sprinting,

Philly and mayor. So at 12:56, I think that's

Longer than that. I think that's I do too.

I do too because the way their breasts, their they are betting,

anything that Brad Cox runs out here off the board and so Amore.

Who's five to one on the morning line?

I don't think you get that. Note secret oath, I don't know

that you get three, two, one. I'ma play against the one horse,

who's a play, hard played hard, who is 92 to, but you got Chad

Brown with a two-horse. I'm going to play.

I'm going to play Society first and second with with three or

four of these other fillies, I have Society, third, I went for,

I say that. I have her fourth 4 10, 2, and 7

in this race. For me, I do have a secret oath

on top. I think that she's the class of

this field been running in those big Stakes company.

The only bad Ray. She's had recently, actually,

where the Breeders Cup this happened to Cotillion, and they

did with Dan talked about, they let her be a horse for a winner

and they gave her some time off. Came back in March, my Birthday

at Oaklawn Park wins. He's area off first by asking

and then comes back losses by a neck.

It one of the great finishes of this year.

In the apple blossom, very short field of Claire, Lester, real

barrier was awesome today. There ain't here, it's not have

to worry about that part secret out here.

And then I do think I'm all re the Chen outside, there is

really really ready for this race.

However in the second spot re and really want the beholder

Mile in San Anita, right? At Oaklawn before that one won

at the fair grounds before that and Mike knows this from doing

the show since September With me, if a horse can travel in win

a different tracks, I love that. I love it a lot, lots of horses

travel and they come to Churchill Downs and when I think

she can absolutely do that. I agree with Dan about Society.

I think she's absolutely a threat here.

She reminds me a bit of Wonder Wheel in the Oaks later.

We've seen great things from her before, but will we see it again

today? Steve as Muslims going to have

her cock ready to go, and I think that Jose Ortiz is the guy

to do that as well. And then, if we're going inside,

I'll use the two as well, search results.

Yeah, I think a lot of that is more personal bias about He

covered heard on the Oaks Trail. So intimately frankly and really

really liking her ran second a mouth that in that race but

since then of course has won the Molly Pitcher at at Monmouth

went back, ran right behind now with that in the personal Anson

at Saratoga runs into Breeders Cup, distaff up the track a

little bit but that was a three-horse race.

What everyone else is gonna be. Yeah do you want a corn one or

two? For sure.

The key for society in here you know she's going to the lead.

That's the only way she run. Just like they can write it just

like the last race we saw where smile happy was was right at the

throat latch of Cox's horsey entire way around and beating.

And so if somebody pressures Society, she won't hit the

board. If she gets out there and start

winging, she's got a chance to hold on.

We did get a nice text from someone saying they hit the try

in the fifth race because Danny was on the one dollar.

Trifecta P. 42 21. Nice.

So there you go. That's what I'm talking about.

The one horse. We're not actually talking about

the horse, that won this race last year and that's pauling's.

Pearl. Who's a good horse with, you

know, maybe at the Twilight of a career maybe just hasn't gotten

it together this year in a meaningful way, did win in a

great three in Houston over muddy go her wet numbers are

awesome. She's 5414 Lifetime on dirt.

That's that's a fast. Go certainly certainly a

playable horse here. If you're looking at Frank,

Mike's not wrong. Do you want value?

That's going to be ten eleven to one college Pro, might be.

Yeah. Yes, you definitely will be

around that number. So let's move on real quick to

the tenth race, which is the Edgewood stakes.

And this is a mile and a 16th on the turf and I think there's a

lot of shots, a long shot here. Who could make some new, I kind

of like the girl named Charlie Gina one.

Okay, tell him, you know, just once you straight one of them,

one of the distance Injustice. I like the number of 15 and I've

got a little I got a cousin. Who's got a growing Turtle so

there it is. Yep.

Yep. That I thought I thought this

race was the hardest race on the card.

I think, I think there are six or seven Phillies that if they

won this race, wouldn't surprise me at all.

You got Chad Brown with a horse that with irad.

That has only made one. Start broke her maiden down at

golf. A mile Loop, the Vega Philly and

loop. The vague as one of the leading

sires in Europe, stands for a hundred and forty two thousand

dollars away. Which is I'm going to guess that

behind the by a and Frankel and might be the highest ever heard

of them either. But I thought, I thought this

game this race was extremely hard.

I did. Like the nine horse.

Papa, Leo Hélio was one of the key.

We have poppy Leo her race in the Appalachian.

Last time out, she came down the stretch and the jockey.

And now I closed my book and can't us.

It's got, you know? Yeah, he had.

She was, she was looking in the grandstand at Keeneland, trying

trying to lay on her horses on the inside of her and he Her

head turned at a 45 degree, angle to keep her out off those

other fillies and she still got up in one.

So if I had to make one pick out of that race.

But if you're playing, if you're playing horizontally through

pick 30s, pick Force, Big Five's and you got to use a bunch in

here, so I'll take hope. And I think this is, I'm using

the horse that's run, once Chad Browns, preliminary the British

bread. I read Ortiz aboard, love that

main race. My back of Washington go.

Stream over the firm, go over the you and Dan agree on

something. And so I just, I ya know, that

happens a lot actually with horses, otherwise, not so much

what he hum, yes, I've ever on top.

And, you know, I agree with Dan. I give a pic for out on the

sheet that today and I don't think it's close as this.

Yeah, this is the race that I spread the most in.

Yeah. Yeah.

That makes sense. Oh, excuse me, ma'am.

You talk as loud as you want. That's why we're here to do.

Um we are from Northern Kentucky, Fort Mitchell Kentucky

for boat ride or the turf L. Foley's baby boy baby.

Let's go. There we go.

We all go to church way. Oh yeah.

There it. All right.

Good enough. We love it that.

This what? She's not too sure about what's

going on here. She's she's giving us the evil

eye. This what?

I had you go we are doing live radio and explaining what it is

that we do for a living. And so that's just how that

goes, lots of horses to like here.

Again, horse racing, happy our.com, you can find all my

picks, two bucks, a day Oaks and Derby, we wanted to keep the

price low so that Or people can hang out.

Go get our pics there. All right, let's move.

Let's move on to Race Six, which is the race that we're getting

ready for here. Next one, we make sure people

have plenty of time to bet. So, that's what we do here.

Dan, we got to jump back and forth about it.

So this is the the to turn race for older Phillies.

And yeah, so we're looking at a Turf race here while in a 16th

scratch scratch, the three and scratch the nine scratch, the 3

and the 9 is correct. Didya hear Louis.

Is there a horse? Is didya that you Pickers are

there? Horse here?

Who can beat that? You horse didya.

I waited on the 7 here, and that shots a sorrow.

And I apologize, your toes will be white with chalk if you bet

this horse, but I think that she's the class here know that I

agree right now. I've got to go to the 2 and the

7 are both 5 to 2. And the 6 is 3, 2 1.

I thought the seven Louis would be.

I thought you'd be looking at you know six two five seven two

five, yeah, I I think there are three horses of class in this

race. They are all being bet.

Like they are the three horses of class in this race, the 722

in the sixth. No question about it.

Shauna's are absolutely class here trained by Chad, Brown the

six horse. Make you look absolutely classic

trained by Chad Brown, and then you have DDO who's trained by

natural career. So I can also occur as written

by Vincent Shimano and those two are really becoming an effective

do well against bigger barns together.

So they're winning at 15%, but these are in races against Chad

Brown against Brad, Cox against those Bigger bar, right?

We're watching them running. Huge spots and still pick off

one in every six races. That's a huge number.

Do you remember what Danny said, Chad, Brown, Iran or Jimmy's on

the grass? That's number six, my kulick001,

love it and take some cooling for sure.

And I want to make sure people understand when they see the

odds on the tote board. Louis, that's the odds to win

and it's just the wind pool odds that you see on the tour tote

board. So we're going to see a lot of

people try to play exotic. Exactly as in Trifectas and you

can get because there's so much money in those pools flying

around. You can actually get pretty good

return on those traffic tibet's this you know, oh no question.

Especially if you get a second place or like, you know you

mentioned like it may be a sweet Danny girl in the first in the

one hole here and she's been down.

But down to H1, right? Good reason one at a last

timeout Milan to 60 on the turf open links get it.

It's a list of steaks in Florida but still if you beat bad horses

by a lot, that's what you're supposed to do, you know?

I For that guy. He was Carlo.

Yeah. Number hasn't.

Yeah. He had he had a little mic with

Dale Romans little Mike remember one couple million dollars and

he's a restaurant tour and he said you know what, I love the

horses too much. I'm giving up the restaurant.

I mean he still has restaurants when somebody else runs a I

think he opened one in Lexington recently but he so small

operator was running a restaurant owner.

Horses. And he said, no, I can do that.

And and he's been quite successful at it.

So I cheer for guys like that. All right, anything in a nice

beat that your last time, I mean these are that's not a made-up

thing. And that's why she's down to 82

watered down on the warhorns area, move down the one, I don't

know the three obviously scratched out.

Is there another value play in here?

You know, Sparkle Blues, been running and really, really big

company. If you wanted someone who just

ran a good race in December, it's coming off a little bit of

a layout for a grand motion. For example, the for Sparkle

blue, ran in the grade one. An ox and a mile and a quarter

at Santa Anita. That was a two-minute Turf race

over a mile and a quarter. That's very fast and she lost by

less than a like under Joe Bravo.

She gets shoulders. Are you here?

That's an upgrade in Jockey for me.

And so I would look for, I would look for that to be a possible

plate underneath here. The for Sparkle blue green

Brendon, Walsh's horse, the eight New Year's Eve morning

line 5 to 1 is now 6 to 1, but really hasn't done much in his

loss to this field. I don't understand what that

horse. Is that is that six of one?

And not ten to one. You know what do you think about

what do you think about the eighth?

I don't get it. I don't get to 61 on the 8th.

Yeah moving that way when other horses are moving down.

So lady, Rockstar was ten to one morning line.

Moving down to 82, 82. One here that's a Tyler and

Brendon Walsh combo combination for the other Brendan under Luis

saez and you can have your opinions about.

I learned about Louis but there's nothing wrong with Luis

saez in this spot here, especially this horse, s off the

layoffs here which Brendon Walsh does it a terrible percentage?

You know 27% if you do anything it's 20% in Raising.

It's unbelievable that you could climb above 25.

It's even more exceptional. And so just an absolutely

undervalued horse you might be right here.

Mike at 6 to 12 years. Even that spot might be World

play. Actually, I don't like museums

actually I'll take I was actually the opposite.

He did she did was come and when the Edgewood last year this

weekend, but really hasn't done anything since okay, you know,

there's a horse is not one in 2023 or if you want a jockey who

hits aboard, like crazy. Yeah.

Louis is the second and Brendon, Walsh has had a great meat, so

for sure, Yeah, there's not this is if you like a horse here,

you're going to get paid the favorites 522.

The longest shot on the board is 9 to 1.

Now, I know there were a couple of scratches, we're down to

seven horses, but that's a pretty even board, right?

Very even more, but that's what you get on these days, right?

Dan. I mean, you get just these great

Fields. Yeah, Yeah.

From now on, it was a little, it was a little watching into this

takes a little chalky to start. Yeah.

The steak races are going to be terrific a little Cooper, a in

town here. Yeah.

He's got he's all resolved. Nope.

No credit. Only does have one of those.

Yeah, credential. Nice credentialed as you are,

playing a bigger. Who is he?

He's not Mark like, okay, Mark, I'm sure Blake is here, you know

who's not here? Who's that?

Round Eddie round daddy's not here yet.

I hear, he's not crushed, put it up on Twitter at Radio?

Louis is James people actually gonna show today.

It's gonna be a good take, it'll be interesting to see what

happens with that one. So to see if he comes in, so we

are about eight minutes away from the 6 race.

Race Dan. I think we can kind of, get,

let's see real quick. If we can get to hold on for one

second. We've already talked about the

10th. So really the next six weeks for

us to talk about is the Oaks which will do all next segment

after this race is over. Let's get back to the little bit

about the Kentucky Derby. And, and how are you looking at

the Kentucky Derby right now? Like, what are you, what are you

thinking about? Cause there's a lot of you like

to play in a Derby Oaks double right.

So, yeah. Yeah.

You know, I I may be a complete idiot.

No. Now, let me rephrase that

completed. I am a complicated and, oh, who

I'm throwing out in the derby. Who's that 4K, Chuck Chuck D.

Do you see these hats Chuck him? I did not like, well, I know,

but you didn't cut me in on that deal, so I don't care.

Yeah, we did. Oh, you did oh, well, then I

think for tail win it. You tell us why?

I didn't like his last word. Okay, Todd.

God sent all of his Oaks and Derby horses out and they all

went in 48 and a piece. He went in 49 and apiece.

I, I don't, I don't like the way that he galloped yesterday,

even, even without the tripping, I didn't like that.

And I go back to the Florida Derby, and Lily, I told you this

right after the Florida Derby, I think they got to the bottom of

this horse. Got a bet.

I mean, I think they had Everything.

They were going to get. He walked into the Winner's

Circle and he looked, he looked like a merry-go-round a pony at

the fair. I mean, he was shot.

He just stood there. Like, he couldn't take another

step and I just, I don't know. He doesn't look to me.

And I certainly don't have a trained eye, but he doesn't look

to me. Like he's coming in full of

energy to this race. Okay.

I just put it together down so this never happened something.

Just Even the never happen. Okay, what's up people listening

horse-racing, happy hour if you're not familiar.

I host a radio show with the man who's joining us today.

His name is Dan Issel. He was a coach in a GM and

nothing else. And he hits on tend to dude here

on our local ESPN affiliate in Louisville, Kentucky ESPN 680

and a nice man walked up and he got chased by the credential

people. Oh and he said hang on, hang on.

He tried to get my chance. I could put the mic down because

I could tell he was trying to say all right?

And it's Brandon and Brandon work.

Job where he cannot listen to the radio.

So he gets home at night and he downloads our show on the

podcast and listens to us laughter.

Where did he go to you? He just took off just a copy up,

then, she's gone. Yeah, he was trying not to be a

nuisance, I guess to the, to the credential people he was here

with his lady Jordan. So if you look goes back and

listen to this, Brandon Jordan appreciate both of you and he's

just one of those guys, he listens every day and I get a

message from him on Twitter if you say something funnier, if I

say something funny and it's like 12 hours after we did the

show, he's just got one of those jobs.

So, so in the time, we've been doing the show together what

you've gotten to tweets. Something we say that's funny.

I whip that Brandon has sent me over 100 mess.

No way. You got a lot more, you think?

No way stun. And what's cool about a guy like

Brandon and we have them on the podcast and Mike knows this.

We have people that we get to know Mike Miller we actually get

to. Yeah it's a great example around

the country, the OE, she's in l.a. like people all over the

place where we get to know them. We get to know their families,

we get to know their spouses even at the spouses.

Don't listen to through doing this.

Doing this, that's a long form, stuff is awesome, because they

get to know you and Brandon, make sure that you listen to

every day. So he sends me a message all the

time and and it's sometimes it's like, hey Lou.

I really disagree with you. And I agree with Dan, or I

disagree with you and I agree with you sections with all the

time, but what? Well, when we do this, when we

remind me sure, when we do this Monday morning, because we'll be

back on our regular upright, you'll be a single spindle will

be in the studio from 10 to 12. Remind me and we'll do a

shout-out. Co-branding we've done it before

where believe or not. Coming up, coming up and coming

up and we have to talk about Kim.

That's all I was gonna say, let's go shot.

We met a woman today, waiting in line, for the buck for the

shuttles, to get over here, from Northwest Indiana, northwest

Indiana from the region, and she was there, and she had a blue

ribbon on and a lot of people wear pink today.

We talk about breast cancer today, as part of the Kentucky,

Oaks ensure survivors parade, if people don't know around the

country or in frankly, even locally where women and now it

sounds like they're including men.

Yeah in the survivors parade, which is Awareness of cancer and

the treatments and different options that people have and

they walk on the track and they come in front of us and you will

hear that. Probably is it before, 2:00.

It's closer to the UPS. Its might be closer to you guys.

So you may not hear that Onyx once they start stretching the

races battle. That's been called, they have

the, the parade, which is so touching every year.

And undoubtedly, we know, one or two people that are in that

parade and you know what? It really touched me.

Because if you followed me at all, the last, the last year,

people have have followed how I felt.

If my wife not feeling great and having to have surgery in

December and those things, it was a cool moment for me.

And if I get emotional, I apologize.

She shows us the ribbon and before she can say anything, her

husband is so happy that he just bursts out seven months.

She's a seven month, ovarian cancer survivor.

He was so excited, and it was so beautiful.

Such a cool moment. Celebrate Women's Health labor

and so, we were just celebrating Women's Health.

We are celebrating. Those of you who are either, you

know, dealing with cancer have beaten cancer.

Hopefully, if you're like me, it would have been my brother's

49th birthday today. He had leukemia the treatments

for leukemia, by the way, I work with it.

They involve a no, he took pills and he's better.

Yeah. And my brother and my brother

diver had that opportunity ever had that opportunity.

And you know what? What a great advancement that we

have that. If it ever happened to me, or my

children or whatever, they would have that off course, the V

Foundation there if even say, she sure.

Right horse. But just that's what it's about

today. And we wanted to give Kim a

shout out down here, came down from Northwest, Indiana to be in

the survivors parade today. Obscure and her husband.

No van that hit me really hard. Just how happy was?

It was almost a Write about it. Because when your, when your

spouse is sick, it's a team effort.

Obviously, it's harder on one person than the other of, man.

It's a team effort, and there are a lot of days, man.

Right now, even my wife doesn't feel great.

I'm a single parent a lot and so I understood how he felt in that

moment. I was a very cool master Kim.

Congratulations. We hope it keeps up and just

awareness of these things. Now Dan is so different than I'm

sure. Even you can remember 30 years

ago. Sure people would discover

cancer too late. Yep, no, right.

I mean, it's green you so much hours.

That was it? I mean there wasn't any

surviving or there was no parade.

No no no well they are getting ready to load the gate here very

soon. We're less than a minute away

from post time, we're going to go ahead and take a break.

We'll come back with the results of this race.

We're going to talk specifically about the Kentucky Oaks get into

the Kentucky Derby. So you that you have your Oaks

Derby double ready to bet. So we'll be right back.

This is the horse racing. Happy hour.

Welcome back to the horse-racing, happy hour live

from Churchill Downs for Kentucky Oaks 149.

Now, here's Mike. Louis and Dan James?

Bring the hip hop and we love it.

We're back here in live from Churchill Downs, the race, just

finished. Now, if you remember when I

started that segment, talking about handicapping that racist,

who's gonna beat the tube and then you and we just said the 7

horse was, but of course, the two still comes through the

wind. So, Seven, still running as

Louis said earlier. So, you know, by Louise fix

though that was one is killing. That was my pick to, I guess, I

had a hard time picking a Colonial Downs graduate against

Chad Brown, she won for fun. It's fantastic stuff right

there. So I don't know, slowly taking a

break. Or is he just gonna jump out the

show's didn't kjz going, are you it's fine.

We'll do this Dan. All right, you know.

We can do this, Louis wants to step away from the mic a little

bit. He won't.

Let me have my Limelight, every once in a while, just pounding,

that's why he's pouting. All right, so let's get into the

Kentucky Oaks right here. Damp though.

You weren't talking to you folks at all?

I guess not. He's out.

He's out of there. All right.

Look Dan. I know you love South lawn.

Yeah. Tell us a little bit about

Silas. I don't know, I don't know if

South lawn can pee. Wet paint.

I mean you look at what she's been able to accomplish as she

won the series. 43 year-old Phillies at Oaklawn Park this

winter. The she's 522 on the morning

line, but I saw I saw the odds earlier, and she was down 2725.

Well, she's going to be, she's going to be a big favorite in

the oh well, I paint on the 75 or wet paint is down to 70.

That's what I saw. I saw a couple hours ago that

she was 725. I just like South Lawns last

race. Now, if you go back she she

hasn't hit the board into starts here at Churchill.

But Mike I read an article that said that she had what they call

a tie back. She had an operation on her

throat and since since she had that operation been holding

before, she is 242 and very impressive, she want an

allowance race at the fairgrounds and then beat what

What seemed to be at the time. I don't know if it'll prove true

but at the time seemed like a really, really good race because

pretty mischievous who is in this race?

Was there in there? The Alice look was in half right

there. Hoosier Philly.

This Tom Amos proclaimed fastest horse in the world Hulu and I

loved was the time I was in there and and South lawn, quite

frankly won the race, pretty. He easily.

So I think I think there's only three horses that have a chance

now Botanical has made her laugh.

Her all of her career starts either on the grass around the

synthetic. Right?

But she's by blame out of the street cry.

No excuse me, she's by magley Bureau out of a Blaine Mayer so

she shouldn't have a problem with the dirt and Brad Cox told

us a couple days ago that she seems to be.

Raining on it. I think it between South lawn

Botanical and wet paint. I don't see how any of these

other fillies come close to them.

The only losses were Botanical, actually have it on the turf

right, sadly? They never lost.

Otherwise going back to South lawn and Louis.

I know you like South lawn a lot to I think Louise back on the

show. Maybe we're see the speed

figures ever since that throat surgery have just like they

jumped off the page. It's been an unbelievable

Improvement. She's very fast.

Yeah, very fast, very fast. I don't know.

What do we all see absolute wild card in this race.

It really is closed. Look if she's in this race, I'm

including her and tickets. Period, the challenge there.

If Hoosier Philly were in this race, everyone can laugh.

I would include her my tickets because you don't know what

you're getting. We're still talking about very

young horses, we're talking about horses, that frankly are

still figuring it out, right? Yeah?

That's the best thing you and I talked about all time fall in

love with the Phillies because they do run a lot longer

caravels running as a six-year-old.

Today, we mentioned it would not be I think if she had different

different genitalia, just wouldn't be the case.

Right? And so, in this case, I mean,

well, I guess you fall in love the geldings in, right then.

Well, you know what? My favorite building my Gandalf.

Why is Dan my ghetto? Forgo, my goodness.

All right, well, I think I do want to say based on works

because Dan, Mike has tossed, Hoosier Derby horse that you're

not in mayor and they merged with because it works doesn't

like the track. Reincarnate.

Right promised. Our America in this race for me,

is the opposite of that. Yeah, I love being loved a lot

of being here. Loves it is keyed up.

Ready to go on a morning? She knows the race comes into

it. Isn't that amazing there we saw

a horse here yesterday for our good friends, the Foley's Bango.

Yes. Is now 10 for 17 at this track

so I believe 10 for 17 against good horses.

And next, yes, mostly steak races, then next You see winds

at Churchill. He will tie the all-time record

for the most wins. At Churchill Downs.

You know what his record? Is that every other crack over

his life 2412? Wow, he's 2412 every place else

and 10 for 17 on this fandom on top yesterday for the that

reason that end of the horse horse for, the course, is what

we say. That's really course, but

profits are. Americo, did run in the gazelle,

one it, we've seen search results.

Came out of that race. We've seen other very, very good

Phillies come out of that race. I get it even Another horse

coming out of that gambling. Girls going to be short on the

line because of the connections promised.

Our America to me, not a winner Dan but a horse, that makes up

your Trifecta. Superfecta kind of bed in the

ocean. You know why?

I'm throwing those New York horses out.

What's that? What's the horse's name?

You love to say? Oh shit, a boot a shooter booty

at. That's a that's a Chad Brown

horse. She ran in that race.

Yes. And finished.

Third, okay? And and Chad said, she's not

ready for the Oaks. We're going to save her for

later. So that's why I'm not taking the

New York Phillies to Serious angle.

I like that. So loyal.

Let's go back to Wonder Wheel for just a sec.

Yeah, sure is obviously Champion.

Two-year-old Philly. One of the juvenile juvenile,

Philly, just 2 for 2 in her Sergeant.

Churchill Downs. Lots of times.

We talk about that horses. Who like Keeneland?

Don't always translate. She loses it Keeneland.

So make a hook. Maybe the Churchill's a better

surface for right here. Yep.

Right here. What do you what do you make of

that sonko so that she had to start the year too?

Tampa Bay. Oh no, look I'm not.

Okay. The Suncoast was considerably

better right? She runs Better Off the Bench

there against a bad field event. Feel I just didn't feel like she

ever really completely like fired though.

At the same time I couldn't find that extra gear especially when

she was a top, put the stretch she couldn't take it in but you

know what? If you look if you go back she

was champion philic because she won the Breeders Cup Juvenile

and the alcibiades at Keeneland before that I don't recognize a

horse in there that she beat. She beat chop chop by a nose in

the alcibiades. Chop-chop is an allowance horse

for Brad. Cockroach out wasn't a pretty

exceptional Philly to just take it.

Yeah, I don't think she beat much Aquila last fault.

What do we make of that? Breeders Cup, juvenile fillies.

I mean it really kind of fell apart.

Didn't usually, we talk about from 2 to 3, the Phillies

maintain and the Colts fall off. If their greatest two-year-olds

is Colts. We say sell them because they're

not going to be greatest three-year-olds.

With Phillies we usually think okay they're going to develop,

we're going to see him again, it's going to be awesome BC,

juvenile fillies the champ. We think oh yeah let's see her

in the arms man. That is just not the case this

year and it's a reminder at horse racing Trends matter but

boy once in a while they don't. So this year, it's a total flip

to have forte in this. I mentioned it.

We did a spot with NBC this morning on their socials.

I think it's since Nyquist and I know you're tossing Forte but

not in our joint ticket. No it's on the Arctic, it is.

It is a bit of 2016 with Nyquist that we've had this.

We've had a horse that hasn't lost since June, right?

Really does is win back his last loss of Sprint, right in the

Saratoga special. And so you know, these kinds of

things with Forte. Wonder Wheel did the opposite.

She was great last year. You know, she even went to W tan

here in July on July 4th. I think that was Stephen Foster

day and just picked us a two-year-old.

She's just kind of, you know, you made a good point Louis

about selling. M we saw we talked about this is

we there's a horse running tomorrow.

I think it's tomorrow Desmond mounds and Desmond bounds dead

body. Damon.

I'm not real good with names. I'm like he he broke his made in

here first. Start by 12 legs, went to

Saratoga want to one the Saratoga special.

They were offered seven figures for that horse after that race.

And I get it, you know, maybe they've got it.

Enjoy the horse more than they needed the money.

But seven figures of seven, figures that horse had a horse

neighing smelled the board since yesterday in the two-year-old

race. We saw the exact the exact

opposite. They bought an Oxbow Philly at

Keeneland twenty or thirty thousand dollars.

She aired the fastest race at Keeneland, the baby races this

spring and they sold her. I don't know how much solar for

a Bunch of money. They gave her to Brad Cox.

And she won the juvenile yesterday, farther than you can

hit a 5-iron. So, you know, some some up.

Sometimes it works out, but but that's the juvenile in May if

you can take. Yeah, well, same way with

Desmond, my own. I'm saying, is they sold it

before that race, so that you're comparing demons Mound group.

Now, with the group, that's sold that Billy immediately, that's

not a fair comparison because they sold and she won the next

race. Sure.

But that I mean she's going to go with again.

No no no, no. But what I'm saying is which I'm

agreeing with you. What you said earlier?

We generally agree with you, you got you've got a horse that

shows a lot of ability. Going forward, a half five

furlongs in May adios baby, pulling audio's.

All right, so let's head, of course, 40 bucks that Trend.

So with that I'd love to hear how you're gonna BET The Oaks

and then after we get how you're in with yolks, the other thing I

want to do first, is the next race.

Is the eight Bells. Yeah.

Yeah, and so this is he going to wait until they kind of came on?

I don't know, but what I think it's I think it's worth, good

know, because we're talking about superstars sure.

We have a potential Superstar here.

Yep, in munnings, Gold. Money's gold, excuse me.

The nine who is now bent down to 158 you and I are not surprised

by that bad at all. I read Ortiz.

Todd Pletcher Rena, 106 fire, set the track record as a

three-year-old Philly at Tampa Bay Downs.

Last year. Dance Fever track.

Believe it or not, he thinks not only the owner but the the track

itself should be in the horse racing Hall of Fame.

Man, that's an inside joke. I hope like three people got

that. Yeah, yeah, I hope three people.

I bet I barely got it for you academically as you see?

Yes, I do. There it is.

Yes I was. I was in competition against

guys. All went to Ole Miss and

Alabama, you know, but I was all I was all academic sec.

Your face Vanderbilt. Yes.

So the other horse in here, though, and so monies, go, let's

talk about her first. Yes, a munnings obviously,

right? The Dahlia door on the bottom.

We'll really bread. Here are three hundred thousand

dollar purchase goes to Tampa. After being a Gulfstream has won

all three of her races breaks your maintenance, a two-year-old

in the summer at Monmouth. Give her a ton of time off.

She runs a Gulfstream in January.

The in the championship me then runs in that in the all.

That's the Sophie Amanda Sophie Phillies is, I think it's the

sophomore Phillies. That's, excuse me.

That's what is the software Phillies going to Tampa?

It elicits takes. No, Lasix today.

Does that bother you at all dance?

No. Okay.

Because it is unusual by the way, because it should be

mentioned. So that people know this Lasix

is a medication given to horses is a diuretic.

It's it usually in Most states two-year-olds cannot run with it

right in Florida. You excuse me?

A New Jersey. You can.

So she goes first asking and Monmouth.

Okay, she goes down to Florida and she runs with Lasix.

Usually if you're preparing for say, a Kentucky, Oaks you would

not run a horse on Lasix, correct.

Because you cannot run on Lasix in the, in the Kentucky Derby.

Does it give you pause at all that they did that?

Or no. No.

And and Lasix as you said Lasix is a diuretic.

It is not. It does not enhance a horse's

perform a jury. What it does is it keeps it

keeps the horse or has a chance to keep the horse from from

bleeding, right? And there are other ways that

are legal. Yes, that you can keep a horse

from. What do you talk about bleeding?

What? The body from the lungs, right?

So yeah, every time a horse runs and this is even in the field if

they're just jogging around their lungs.

Bleed, it's just part of their species and some some bleed a

little bit and the only way, you know that they bled is if you

scope them after a worker or after a race, some are so bad at

just gushes out of their nose with a nose, like a bloody nose,

and a human being jerk. But no, because if people don't

know, horses cannot breathe through their mouth.

Right there. Only pass.

Asses to the lunges or the no Frankie.

That's great point. But I saw this horses last race

where, as you said, send the track record as a three-year-old

Villi and and I read rotor and he could not have been more

statuesque in the saddle. Never move.

Never moved his hands and she goes in 120 flat.

I mean, I really wanted 344 and 1108 and once while I think

you're looking at The next really big.

Now I don't know how far she can go, but the next I guarantee you

that Olive level. Oh yeah, I think no, but that's

what that's the comparison right now.

I'm that's why I'm asking your, I guarantee if she runs this way

today. The acorn will be her next

start, it should be. Yeah, great one.

Yeah, and it's wrong. Turn.

People don't know about that. That's a race at Belmont on

Belmont day. The acorn is the New York

version of the Kentucky. Oaks it just Happens to be at a

mile over one turn because Belmont so big, right?

That and frankly they start in the middle of the back stretch

because they'll not so big. It's not like Churchill where we

have to have a chute, which is pretty normal but one turn mile

so that if she can go, the seven furlongs back-to-back which is

7/8 of a braille, she can go the full Mile and not have a

problem. So just think about the end.

You're gonna start the pick five here, you get single, and this

leg single Caravelle, the next leg, and if you like wet paint a

lot, I mean, you could really do that if you really want you, but

you You a pretty affordable ticket and these tickets are

going to pay today. Even if the favorites come in,

they're gonna pay, there's going to be money in the pool.

We saw the early pick five pole, would it have million dollars?

We really let you send out a bunch of Maidens and allows

races and that kind of thing. It was it was it was over

200,000 on our before the first race.

Ya know. I'm I would I would have thought

it would be more but that's early races that's maidens and

allowance. Yeah at least you know for sure

but yeah but you can really spread that in the boxing ring.

Correct. And while that's her phrase to

yeah and race erased at yeah. So, and in Edgewood, yeah, it's

what, thank you. And you need to spread in the

Edgewood, I think, that anyone else in this race.

I mean, you feel like she's a single flat out.

I mean, so, here's the other horse and Dan and I it's a horse

danites were talking about - we'll go with the right red

carpet, ready? Yeah.

It's the six horse here and she did not like a mile of

Gulfstream. She loved the four gallons seven

furlongs. She loved the six-and-a-half

Furlong Fern Creek here at Churchill.

She's 242 lifetime of Churchill in my pics that I gave out.

I included the six just in case. These monies gold in fire or

didn't like the track of whatever it is.

I totally agree that the nine is the favorite here and it isn't a

question, but we're still talking about three-year-old.

Phillies, red carpet. Ready to 42 here?

Rusty Arnold? I know you like Rusty for sure?

Lou Sighs. And I just terrible last time

out but in horse racing do we it's your anything horseplayers

loved and more than drawing a line through races.

No, just give me. Yeah, well Forte give me a A

little reason to Chuck him. That's exactly right.

So so I think the six here, if there's going to be another

horse, it's going to be Louis sighs.

It's going to be red carpet. Ready?

That jumps up, loves this track. It is ready to go.

All right, we never really officially got our Oaks picks.

So let's get our official picks and let's talk about that Oaks

dirty double and that will take us out probably to the about the

end of the show here. So Dan, how are you betting?

The Kentucky Oaks, I'm betting, the Oaks Derby double because I

like nothing more than to have my money tied up for Running for

hours. So, I am and I am using two

horses in the Oaks, okay? I'm using wet paint, and I'm

using South lawn. So that is the 7 and the 4,

okay? And then, in the derby, I'm

using a bunch, okay? I'm using verifying to, to

Phil's three, tap, it twice five, Mage 8.

The right I scratched out re-election.

I really don't like I don't, I don't get the Mage love.

It's okay, it's okay. Yeah, we're going to say you'd

like Forte. Yeah.

And Mage got Beetle length by Forte has Forte had to run like

20% more racing Mage. Did that unfortunate had

overcome like everything. 14:10 you have to say something, you

can't make that face or they had to overcome the backhoes

position a bad trip. Let me tell you something.

Mage walks out of the gate, right?

He makes an early Early, move around the turn to get to the

lead and then he gets tired in his third start.

I'll bet you right now. Whatever you want to bet, I'll

bet you made finishes ahead of forte tomorrow.

That's freaking God. All right, how about what do you

know, what are we going to? Do you make it, okay?

All right, that way, you're in studio.

Yeah. Lunch for the four of us.

Dan Sherry me and you know, can't do that.

Why? Cuz I got to get to Denver, I

can't have lunch delivered at 11:00, okay.

All right, we're friends and Studio launcher, in studio 11:00

Sunday Monday, for four months. I got to make sure.

Yeah, I think I don't think. I think 500.

You don't have to have something to do to all the foreigners you

want, 14, 14 is Angel event. Fire and 17 is dermis odekake.

The Jazz how I'm bettin the 022 Manor in here.

Oh, oh yeah, yeah, I'm sorry. Thank you, thank you, I forgot

about it. Make sure man.

You know you're definitely doing that tomorrow you and I agree on

that one. Yes.

I remember to for sure. So, okay.

All right, there you go. Let's dance Lou.

How you been yolks? Just how you betting The Oaks

before. Okay, do good question.

So wet paint on top for me. South lawn is second.

I'm into you. I'm gonna wheel wet paint and

not a full wheel but a semi we liked of wheel.

I will do a trifecta with wet paint 7 on top.

Six Botanical and second the for South lawn and second and then

I'll use a bunch of the other horses.

In third, I like the Alice. Look at third, she's the to

gambling girl. The three in the third spot,

Wonder Wheel. I will also use in the third

spot in longer tickets. I will include four horses to

win the race. Sure Wonder Wheel, Botanical,

wet paint and Southbound Route, four five six and seven in

longer tickets because I think while I think wet paint, Is an

overwhelming favorite and I think she's a deserve it.

Favorite much more than anything that's happening in the derby.

Much more for sure. She's not.

If 725 is the number getting better.

I got 12:47. Interrogating a, she's not.

So you're getting Empress. I would agree Colt down people.

Now, the ocean alone is it that bad?

You know, I said this, when I throw in a one-horse, Mike, what

are we doing wedding? When I talked about when I talk?

About the fairground Oaks that South lawn one so easily, you

know, in the flop. It was all the fairgrounds for

South Llano was faster. Everything about that weapons.

Yeah. But all the domestic

disagreements, there's horses. I mean, pretty mischievous

Church. She jerked her Bridal off and

she's ten to one in the Oaks. I don't know that this is, this

is the strongest Oaks field we've ever seen.

It's interesting, too. Because you, and I have talked.

This is the as royally bread and hoax as I can remember.

I mean, every you on, you know, every sire Sure.

I mean the dam is by someone, you know, sure.

I mean it's remarkable. I mean, so every pursue pretty

mischievous, only happens to be an it's a Mischief with the

tappet mayor like I guess that's okay, I guess it's okay, Ferg, a

dolphin. She's 10 to 1 because it's okay.

Small. Small ownership group could

often a table ready for them, Dan.

Yeah, horses anyone while running Oakes Derby, double

their Louis. Good stuff.

There yolks bet. What are we like on the

hulkster? Be double jokester.

Be double for me, man. I wouldn't plan.

Okay, I wouldn't like, I am more likely to play the the pick

three Mowgli would do old Forester Turf and the Derby.

I like that better a lot more talk about that bet.

Okay, so people want to know, there are a bunch of to-day bets

that happen. You can actually do a pick six.

Today that starts with the two-day pick six, it's a wonder.

Our minimum Dan which I know you like.

Yep. Race night the lot riding on

today. So with the ladies today and

then raise ten today, the Edgewood which is that Filly and

mare good luck Ray or the shoot me the three year old Filly race

on the turf. Good luck.

And then the Oaks the only way that you would want to play This

Racist. If you have a very strong

feeling about the lot Roy Hudd and about the Oaks, right?

Because the Edgewood yeah, good luck with that, right?

So those are the three races today, 9, 10 and 11.

And then it includes the three races leading into the Kentucky

Derby tomorrow. Which includes the The Churchill

Downs, which is good because Cody's which is in that race.

So, you may as well, you may have three singles in this.

In this sequence actually is interesting, right?

And then it goes to the turf classic or at which is the old

for Suburban. True classic.

I agree with you again and then you get to the derby again.

Spread. Now that's a one dollar minimum

denomination over six races that believes going to get expensive

if we. Yeah we're at a dollar very

quickly. It'll get expensive.

I think as there's three races in that sequence You got to

lose, you got to use five, six seven horses.

And so to me that's a you guys spend 1,000 bucks to play that

reasonably. I have that's not what this show

is about so I won't be playing it but that's that's starts that

the the the pick three that I'm talking about though, starts

today it is starts in race. Yo coach, that starts with the

excuse me. Thank you very much.

It is the Oaks old Forester Bourbon and Derby.

Pick three. You The winner, The Oaks, you

pick the winner of race 11 tomorrow on the turf, and then

the Derby right after that. So it starts today, finish this

with two races tomorrow. You and I hit that a couple of

years ago. Mike medida Spirit year.

Yeah, it was I like four hundred fifty dollar payout on 50s and

stuff like that. Yeah.

It was pretty chalky like for a while.

Yeah. And so that's one that we really

enjoy and so you know if we want to do we want to talk about

that. Sir Classic.

Come on, just so people because we got to get out of here.

So, yeah, we got we got James. How much time we got.

Look, like 2 minutes per day. I want to ask one question.

Yeah, I know we're gonna put together.

Pick five ticket. Yes.

Are we? I have it sitting right here.

Are we looking at only the late Big Five.

Are we considering the dirt pick five, right?

So Dan, and I discussed that, we think it is only legitimate to

do the pick five that leads directly into dirt.

Okay? We would pick five to include

the Derby as well. I understand the pool be bigger

for the pick five leading of the dirt.

Okay, yeah. We're trying to make more.

Yeah. All right.

Fair to say? Yeah.

Okay, absolutely, absolutely. Want to see for die.

Well, they're about 15 minutes away.

Here we going. Couple minutes left on the show.

Again, some very playable sequences coming up with some

singles. Potentially here, what's a text?

I'm texting. I don't like y'all ignoring

James chiming it about lunch feed for the producer.

I was so sure that I will make sure she gets fed, people will

get better, maybe even - who gets better.

I know, I know, you know, what do that?

I'll bring in some homemade spaghetti meatballs or something

like that, and we'll go with you.

That's whoa, that's what we're talking.

That's lunch, baby. Yeah, make sure you fall asleep,

on our drive, back to driving straight through.

No, no, no, no. We're too old to do.

Who are you? What do you stop?

Usually around, Kansas City. Okay, that's about halfway well,

where it's a race 11:00 tomorrow.

Let's do a real quick. Use that land.

Is a chocolate. Isn't really?

Who's your topic in the race? Now I got the 7 on top.

Yeah. I, you know, Kong Hong, Kong?

Harry. Do you use for widen their 798?

And five? For me, it is.

Will be on tomorrow web 55 or is alive.

My god. There you go.

We'll see you tomorrow, 11:00 and to tune in and get your

Derby pics.

Horse Racing Happy Hour
