just identical is the least happy person James.
Other filling it with the girls are running a grade one and
nobody. Nobody is even paying attention.
I'm watching with the ladies wearing today.
What's the what's the, what's the expression?
A great one. Let's see, there's a great one
being run right now. He's my wife out here,
believable that. Yeah, if we want to do it.
In space radio, by the way it's we're in a good section.
Alright, we are the 37th running of their recent distaff, great
17, hundred fifty thousand dollars, it is, it's often going
there going around that could ignite our example.
We think there's a he's got all the college kids, their turn,
she's midnight, Olive is not going to smell the board.
Good night, all of his survival of so you can have the real
heat. There goes up and around again.
This is why this is called open up.
This might open up, we'll see. Matter Rhea.
Matter, it takes over the only here at H great as a career
move, good night, although overcomes this and comes back
and get this thing over here course, we can Halo second, this
would be an unbelievable comeback with a night.
All trying to push the rail, smart move by The Jock here to
get down to the railroad matter area and matter are gonna hold
on 5, you get 5 to 1 on matter Ray, as I said, it's don't
there's not a single and an 52 Walter Masseria, you say
goodnight? Hello said.
Hey where's matter in this race? Let's go, that's incredible 521
right there when you bet Jen that one?
Yeah, well matter area like that matter a of matter Ray, again,
her first win and since June of twenty two Louis canning that
she was so good. Last summer, she won the acorn.
That was the last one that she got.
She missed. She came in third in the test
and second in the matron awesome to see flavoring.
At Andrea back in the Winner's Circle to brag, on our Pioneer,
in the Nile brighter for 110k, she's over a million in earnings
coming into today. And so of course with the purse
today of 7 are fifty thousand dollars is a lot of Honor for 52
that matter. A also a former winner of the
eight Bells which is one of the most popular races of the
weekend so that it's so talk to me Dan.
I've always wondered this, I don't know if anyone listening
care so I'll just do it for me. What do you think she's worth in
a private sale as a broodmare horse like that?
You know? No, I'd have to see the rest of
her pedigree, but she's read an old and by good Dolphins.
So I imagine she's out of a man for mayor, but she is a, she is
a now, a two-time grade, 11, a grade, one winner, serious grade
10 years, starting, you know, depending on if there's if
there's any pedigree there at all, besides her and good
dolphin, didn't keep any bum broodmares.
You started three and a That's why I thought I was gonna say
45. It's three and a half to four
and a half. Maybe 50 could often also owning
pretty mission who won the. Yeah, they write notes on the
ocean today. I feel good for them.
That's what is small. These small operations when they
jump up Dan in these great ones, you have to feel good for him.
Don't you ever made a doesn't laugh about that laughing on a
Saturday? All right, battery, they look
great really, well-written horse right there from flavian good
trip. And I mean what do you talk
about stockings? Trip.
Where you make your move on the train.
That's it. That was that was perfect,
right? It up at him that it was a
closer close the rail so that good night, owl couldn't make
her run and was a good another Trifecta on the sheet but that
was when you should have had something and that's especially
boxer, right? So yeah.
All right. The ninth race is the 32nd
running of the American Turf is a grade, two mono 16th on the
turf. Get a little wind, pick up right
here. Nothing like we had on the back
side earlier this week but you know, we're at $3 actually.
It's good versus the way I came when we were in a hurricane.
That's I just came up. I just came up with a chuckle
man, this race. Hey, by the way, Louis, instead
of buying lunch as a compromise, here we go.
I'm going to just make a donation to The Mark Stoops
statue and dances specifically to the big blue wall.
That would be behind that statue.
We saw John clay a little earlier Courtney's.
Texan, get NPR out of the way and I'll come join you.
Talking to John clay, who came up with the brilliant idea.
But Hannah came up with a brilliant ideas Lexington move
ever building in hat at there at the Derby.
John clay, dominating, go ahead. Go ahead and I'm listening to
you, Dan, I'm done, I want you to interrupt me for the third
time. I'm done.
I didn't interrupt you Dan. I wanted to hear what you had to
say. I definitely want here without
bumping saying, John clay, get was the one who had the idea to
build the Statue for marks. Well, the statute football, I
just can't believe they won't give you the money back.
Yeah, they the field after him do whatever.
We gotta do. Let's go Stoops college at the
University College? That's let's go.
All right, we I think we all agree that this is a very
intriguing race and we may see the arrival of a potential
Superstar and this one with the 11 Carl spackler.
There's a lot of lightly run horses here.
Lou, I know you love major dudes and towards the confirmation on
major dude. Yeah.
So So why don't you go first here?
Louis? Tell I think it's interesting,
man. I so major.
Do they, and then knows this. They, you know, they went ahead
and ran at Red Turfway. You know what?
I'll tell you then, I think, even if he wins a Jeff Ruby's
takes he's running in this race, you think?
I think they put him right back in American surf.
I think they know what they have.
I think they know what they want going forward.
And this is a ter Force. It's interesting because this is
out of the deorro line, right? Just started him on the bottom.
You do get some luck on grass on that line, but I think they've,
And what they want to do with him, he wins kittens Joy, a
Gulfstream Park. They try them in the Jeff
Ruby's. Takes I'll be very clear.
There are very few three-year-olds who are going to
compete with two, fouls on that day on that surface right.
Right, right. He was that good?
That day. That surface.
I want to put all those caveats in because it does matter for
our purposes better quarter but he picks up that check.
That's a seven out of fifty thousand dollar race, right?
So that's still I mean, you know that's a that's a big boy check.
He's already made four hundred thirty six thousand dollars.
I think this is a chance for him to come out.
I don't love the one here. Damn because he's going to have
to make a trip but if a guy's going to push his way to a trip,
it's I read Ortiz. And so I do have, you know, I
think that he's absolutely a contender.
I totally agree about the 11. I think the two horses really
interesting here too far bridge for pleasure as well.
It's got 12 in this race as far as the stop horses.
Two runs two wins, they started him at a mile and a sixteenth
Maiden Run, beat Carl, spackler in that race.
I hear over and over again. How good Carl spackler is?
I believe the hype By the way, but if you can be Carl, spackler
head-to-head in your maiden, that's a pretty good win for me.
So I'm including both of those that I think Carl, spackler,
major players. And I'm going to go back to what
I said, 45 minutes ago. Chad Brown is not Chad Brown,
just got a three to five Peaks, farewell Chad Brown didn't, but
you know, and they are rather these about you.
And yesterday in the race, there was a grass race for
three-year-old, Phillies? Yes.
That he had a filling who had made one start just like, If
this cult, if I had this Colts made two starts, but very
impressive made and when that I think went off in the face has a
favorite in that race five and you couldn't find her with a
search warrant. So I'm not I'm not sold on Carl
spackler. The two horses you mentioned.
Make the most sense. One and two.
I'm going to include mendelssohn's March.
And I both land, and I'll tell you why, he's, this will be his
fourth. Start Mendelssohn has done very
well on the grass as Sire and he is out of a Galileo.
Mayor and Galileo is just I mean in Europe isn't Galileo was
amazing. Yeah.
And so he ran, he won his first start just like Freddie Mercury,
he ran second got beat ahead, but won by disqualification.
Came back on a sloppy track and one at Hot Springs.
His buyer numbers keep progressing.
They ran him in the Bluegrass like everybody does trying to
see if They have a Derby horse and they don't hear an six, got
beat eight and a quarter. But this horse looks like to me,
Louis, he should love the grass and so an absolutely looting him
underrated combination here to make pee-can Hernandez.
Junior at Churchill Downs, has two of them, very successful, 19
percent. That's a massive number at a
place, like this with the field sizes that we have here.
And I don't think I mentioned at the beginning, but this is a
three-year-old only race and we talked about a lot, but it's
good for our listeners who maybe don't follow this closely.
To hear it and you all both brought it up and roundabout
ways. Lots of times you get a
two-year-old you're trying to see if you guys shot of the
Triple Crown and then you spend the rest of time figuring out
what you got after the triple crown and lot and these horses
you've got a lot of these guys and maybe you figured it out
earlier than they wanted you to like it major deutz case who
does have four starts on the turf with two wins and a third.
A lot of other starts on the synthetic so you got to like
that as well. And then what there's a handful
of horses in here. He took a shot at triple crown
and points races and just didn't work out for whatever reason.
So there you go. I hope Carlos Packwood gets it
because I'm a big Caddyshack fan.
You like Caddyshack? I have no idea what you're
talking about. Never seen Caddyshack the movie
so Caddyshack. Yeah, is Carl spackler?
That groundskeeper? Yeah.
Okay, yeah, we just got a shout-out on and this, this is
cool man. Scott Wyckoff who's at WBAL in
Baltimore? Yes, listening right now.
God, shout out to you again table here.
The I know, I don't know, we'll meet Scott later.
Scott will be a Preakness in a couple weeks, man.
Let's get connected. Let's do some crossover stuff
because we're fans and so thanks for listening while you're in
town. I'm glad you're having fun with
it. Big compliment to you day in the
Tweet, so they thank you very much.
Appreciate last night, Louis I, you know, I'm watching all the
TV coverage of all the Gaylords. Sure.
I'm just like waiting to see Israel and Sheree walked the red
carpet while Sherri brought a different guys.
So, like you and say, look, look Carrie dominates tender.
Well, what? Yeah, that's what I hear.
I remember that. Yeah, yeah, she hooked up on
Tinder, she pushes a not over. There.
You go basketball player. All right, now with Derby tone
even Eddie is here. Finally, I mean, now it's now
it's Derby. There we go.
But yeah, I mean, look, once in a while, I mean, you've been
married about how long 53 years in 107.
There it is. You got to push the NS a lot of
the way and rock the red. The red carpet with a different
guy. It is what it is.
There was a time though when you give the red carpet and you did
all the Derby parties that year. The Derby parties.
I don't even remember if they had a red card because I think I
don't think there was back then, but we did the derby party.
Just want to show around all that you to Barnstable Brown.
I've never been to the to that one.
Okay. Wow.
Yeah, we went to school with them, right?
They were twins. Yeah.
Yeah, they were cheerleaders at Kentucky, right after Sherry,
right after Sherry was there. Mike.
Casey, dated one of them? I don't remember which one will
he let that fall apart for a A while.
But yeah, but no, I've never been to their party, okay?
Feels like you put up with a lot to be married to that.
I'm just saying I'm a little shocked.
Actually, I would have thought that Dan Issel, bitter
no-brainer for the, I want to be clear about something with
danis. Glitz & Glam is nice.
Janice was a farm boy from Illinois, and Missouri.
Hey, did you see and I'm not picking on him.
Did you see my outfit today? Yesterday I tried to look nice.
I had dress shoes on. I had nice slacks.
I have a sport mode and about to go into a honeymoon.
Thousand dollar a person box upstairs.
I got, I got the jeans, I got to hear something.
I got tennis shoes and blue jeans.
The days of me, trying to impress, somebody are long past,
let me, but let me tell you that, right?
So, you don't even really like, remember the parties you were
too, huh? The one I remember specifically
was John Y and, and oh, and Ellie had had a derby party that
and it was so exclusive, that's when they own the kernels and
they didn't invite All the kernels they only invited me.
Louis and artists. We were the only three.
The guy that got invited? My I can't remember who all was
there. Lee Majors was there?
Muhammad Ali was there? Carl?
R0, the announcer. So you were at a derby party
with Muhammad Ali. Yes, boom.
Boom. Have I never told you this.
No, let's go. This is great.
This is great. So Howard Cosell that it was, it
was in the days. That this is name-dropping.
I can't even every moment name-dropping.
That's who was there. Howard Cosell was there.
So or maybe sooner drink ABC, had the coverage and so the
night before they visited, several of the Derby parties.
And so Howard Cosell is at as at John and Ellie's house and were
you on a first-name basis with Howard Cosell?
Yeah. Okay.
By the way, coming down, he's called me.
Dan and I called him Howard. Sherry was seen with Kevin Love
on the red carpet. Someone who hangs out with us
way too much and we appreciate you at was, that's a good one.
All right, go back to the house, so they're going to do live
broadcast from like three different Derby parties.
So Howard Cosell is at John and Ellie's.
So Muhammad walks in and he's got he has an Entourage of about
seven or eight people. And I'm a very nice wasn't you
know, wasn't mean or anything? Very nice and there was a I
think they call it a cupboard between the kitchen and the
dining room. It was like a hallway or
panting. Yeah.
And so Muhammad and his Entourage.
Go in that hallway in that, in that pantry.
And so now, the lights. Come on.
Okay. And here's Howard Cosell and
he's supposed to end. He's supposed to interview John.
And Ellie and some of the people that are at the derby party,
right here. Comes Muhammad part.
I forget who he was going to be getting ready to fight.
I'm gonna kill him, he's a bum and he dominates the dominates,
the entire, the entire 10 minutes or whatever.
The segment was. I mean, Howard's, trying to
interview other people and Muhammad's behind them.
I'm the greatest. I'm floating like a butterfly,
stinging. Want to kill it, might kill him
out the lights. Go out that by the way, is an
impersonation of Muhammad Ali and Take Five Shell.
Had a baby. That's what that was.
So so the lights go out. Okay.
Yeah. The the interview is over.
Sure, Muhammad goes back in the day, he was except he was one of
the most soft-spoken human beings you could ever imagine
for being a heavyweight boxer. But The lights went on so did so
did Muhammad well. You told the story even you're
in a hotel. You're with Sherry.
No one else is around. Yeah, walks up to you.
He starts doing card tricks. We do.
We it was it was when John why I was running for governor and he
did a fundraiser and had people, it was a roast.
So he asked, you know, invited some people to roast him and,
and then, you know, you paid so much to come and that went to
his run for governor. So it was on a Saturday night.
So And I were staying at the hotel down on Fourth Street and
we go out for lunch and we come back and the lobby is completely
empty. There's not a soul in lobby,
right? Except sitting over on a couch
with a table in front of it. Is Muhammad Ali and I had met
Muhammad a couple of times, you know, we knew each other, well,
enough to say hello and emotions for Sherry and I to come over.
So, we come over and we sit down.
Down. And he proceeds for the next 15
minutes to do card tricks. Don had an energy about him like
no other. We're just I went up.
I said sure you realize the most recognizable popular man on the
entire planet. Yep, just did card tricks.
Let's get back into the derby field here.
Well, okay, go ahead now just because, I mean, I understand
talking the undercard but it's Derby day.
We've talked about one Derby horse, We have three segments
left. Do we have tons of things?
Like we're good. We're good on time.
Okay, we're good. Alright, we got, I mean I think
we gotta get the ring 500. Okay.
All right. Because, you know, the Bettors
want to bet man, unfortunately 14 minutes.
Alright, parents give us some time to bet.
We got plenty of time to cover this field.
We only got 18 horses are man. Danny Burke came back and we
were breaking news. It's the first guy first guy
that had the scratch on Twitter that I saw.
If you're not following Danny printer then you're not worth or
screw. All right there you go.
All right we know that. At Dan loves salt and peppers.
DJ Spinderella here, obviously. So this is race five.
The 30th running of the Longines Churchill, just after Four Mile
to grade 15 hundred thousand dollar race.
Dan, are you, have you been bitten by the single enough to
not single Spinderella? Are you still gonna stick with
it? And I think of the five think
spender, Ella is certainly the horse to beat in here.
It especially if you're drinking my Chad Brown Kool-Aid, because
Chad Brown has Horses in here, none of which are great one
winners there they want some grade twos and and some great
threes. I think the two horses that I
would play in here are spender Ella who right now is 6 to 5 and
the 4 horse who is 92 to. Those are the four and the five
are the two that I like the six and the eight are scratched out
of here. Six being one of savage oakes's.
Joseph Juniors horses Louis. About you.
I'm a I landed on the 5 on top here who I assume is spend a
relic, right? Yes.
And then the two was second for me, speak of the devil, another
Chad Brown here. This is Flavia proud.
We just watched him pilot moderator to really rated.
Well, rated Victory going over a Sprint.
We'll see if he can turn it around and rate it over the mile
on the turf course here at Churchill Downs.
Mike knows I love the route races on the turf here.
The mile and an eighth is probably my favorite in the
world but you know, I think it has a really serious jock here.
1412 Churchill, 5 for 12, lifetime of the distance, ton of
experience going this amount of ground on the, on the turf spent
much of her life in France has been in the US and is Run 3
times 1 or first time in the just after if Mi came back tried
a grade 1 and the just a game ran in the honey fox in March.
So we're essentially second off the layoffs here.
This kind of life here at Red Brown at 22%.
He hits with Fabien at Churchill at 43%.
Wow, recent recent numbers and so for me that's easily the
second. I think spend a relative the
class of the field but if we're looking at connections, the
whole picture the to come second.
Alright, so interestingly enough about the turf racing going on.
The inner rail has been taken down down further that we've
seen it this year. Yeah, so we were going to have
to look at that week, their Turf course.
Louis really fair up to this point.
I think. So Dan.
Do you agree with that? Yeah again just like the dirt
track. I don't think you can come from
way, I agree. You got to pay, you got to be in
the hunt. It's, you know, it's interesting
because, you know, Keeneland always it seems like they're
always on a good. It like, you know, it's RIT
listed as a good Turf course, they really wet that down.
Seems whatever they're doing over there here when they say
firm they freaking meet him, right?
So what we mean by that they basically they're good.
They're not thankfully to more horse wits.
I would say of that's about eight more feet.
It was actually three horses that are going to be available
track. That was not has not been
available all week and so we're Be very curious to see if that
rail is live or not. The reason they do that is so
that the horses run over different parts of the grass and
don't rip up all of the grass in one spot and so they can move
the rail out. And by doing that they lengthen,
the amount of distance of horses have to run when they do that.
They move the gate up to shorten the amount of distance to make
it match with how far the gate is offering.
So we'll have to just keep an eye out there, see how the turf
course is going but by all accounts so far it looks like
it's gonna be good. Alright, so we now we'll go back
to the derby. Teacher Tick-Tock verify we're
good. We talked verifying already when
you go to three horse. So to Phil's to fils-aime the
hardest to figure out horse in this race.
I think very, I mean, you either love them or you don't, right?
So and especially if he's going to be going the four spot.
I think you love a little bit more to Phil's 12:00 to 1:00 in
the morning line with this is built with this was a program is
printed for all the way down to 72 one.
I think is the last one I saw the winner of the Jeff Ruby
Stakes obviously the Derby winner.
Last year came out Jeff. Just a few though, we didn't win
it. Louis talk about your love
affair with to Phil's who has the first time jockey jareth
lover, Barry aboard, love a very loud.
Very I have him on top. I just think of the preps that
we saw, this was the best break from gate move into company and
then break away from the field version that we saw.
I think the other one is Angel of Empire.
I think those two preps were the best as far as As tactical speed
showing what you can do, 48, running anymore.
So we can't talk about the Florida Derby.
He overcame everything in that race to win that race but man
I'm not as sold on Mage as other people are.
And so for me major dude, actually as a Turf horse running
on that sit surface is a harder thing to beat than mage.
I'll put it that way. Okay.
So I actually think his performance in the Jeff Ruby's.
Takes is better than what Forte did in the Florida Derby.
All of that said I would have liked for its a better if he
were healthy and running and doing all the things that
forsaken do the translation from Turfway to hear.
It happens a lot. We see it a lot, but we see it a
lot with dime claimers in allowance races.
Will we see it in a grade one level like this?
I don't know. But I know one thing, Dan the
distance, thinking about that, this horse at all.
No. So, once in a while that is the
big check mark for us, we talk about for example, horse that
did scratch out was the tenant practical move?
We were worried about 10 furlongs with him with the three
into Phil's, not worried about him, but the digital, you know,
and, yes, he ran on the synthetic surface last timeout
and, and it was an impressive race.
But unlike Cox's Philly yesterday, we would only been on
Turf and the synthetic this horse ran very well on Ray.
Regular, dude, there's one who in the Risen star.
He was third got beat a little over 2 lengths by two other ones
Empire in the lockup. He was second to instant coffee
who I think, Brad thought all along was his very best
three-year-old and so, you know, I don't think you have to be
concerned about his last race on the synthetic surface up up at
Turfway. I think he's shown that he has
strong. Enough dirt form to be
considered a contender. Here you go.
Alright, let's head to break here, want to thank our
sponsors. Horseshoe Indianapolis up in
Shelbyville Indiana, just east of Indianapolis.
If you're up in that area listening to us, we have tons of

professionals, when you're not at the top of your game, the
ones who say come on muscle through it, but then also say,
hey, you should probably see my specialist or surgery or pain

Great hit, great hair for a guy who works in a meeting where no
one season. You have great hair been, does
your wife talk about your hair? She does not.
But thank you because my wife lies to me and she says, I don't
care about your hair, which is, I mean, the mass of life from a
woman. I mean, just unbelievable.
And so on your wife's doing a bad job, I'll just tell Mom that
my wife tells me, I'm losing my hair, and I'm like, are you
looking at my friends? I mean, seriously, look at
Luigi. Look, hang out with Louis.
Jeez! Oh Peter, you scared him too
long. It's like looking at it,
eclipses are right. My wife says, who are you?
Ben Roberts just getting here because he was out all night at
the Derby. Galas look, it happens.
Levity, that is and or for burping, an 18 month old, who
knows how's the baby? How's it going?
Yeah, I don't think I'll change the diaper this morning actually
said, oh we got away with one there, that's called very nice.
I've been carrying on the tradition, joined us for
Breeders Cup last year, and now hopping on unannounced, totally
par accident at a time. No but Edge, especially Aquila
because he hung out for like, 45 minutes turned out really great,
dude, you're on your own. There was sort of talking here,
that's the fifth or sixth race. Like, I'm supposed to fifth.
This race goes off. Ya hear your odds over sort of
God came in and so you're talking about bucking a trend.
That's, that's a long time. Coming in the UAE Derby, why do
you like the most so much? I'm just, I did like for table,
for he scratched. I Know, Dan likes angel of
Empire. He's wearing the pin right now.
That's that's my second choice, okay?
But I just I feel like obviously some of these horses are going
to take a step forward, but I feel like we kind of know what
we're getting with most of the horses in this field, I think
dermis odekake based off the way he's run.
It's on the same tier or higher than a lot of these horses.
And obviously, you know, I've said for over 20 years and I'm
not going to bet one of these shippers, until one of them does
something. And, you know, here I am all-in
on Derma just because I'm not other than angel of Empire.
I'm just not enthralled. Got anybody else?
That's a fair take. All right, I got to know because
you all probably already talked this out but the, you know, they
chose the top 30 bass waxworks to choose their Derby winners
and you left off the guy sitting next to us to the left.
That's it. You not consider him a horse
racing expert. Oh, he was, he was, oh no, I'm
talking about the basketball basketball.
All right, I'm coming down the stretch here in race Sunbrella.
Dan has stood up. It's been really going to get
beat by the rela, 100 hungry right now.
Do not single anybody. As fluffy socks, going to get
this, that is Fluffy socks. The seven.
That is Chad Brown Ortiz. Alright.
Chad on the turf. We're going to go seven, more
Iran Chad right there with fluffy socks being spent.
Well again if you see right now, someone who's less than even
money, do not bet that horse because it is not work out well
as 425 425. Better people for y'all be
better. Bad, who that's the trend
though. This whole weekend has been a
trim and you forget the on-track money this weekend, man.
They see a favorite, they start betting that, it's all you.
Yeah, Thad Roberts with us at than Roberts HL on Twitter.
Go find him there. He did a podcast about how to
bet the Derby Ben. What's it like to be a phony
until people how to get the dirt is?
Pretty Sound Advice, probably one of those horses is crushed
and Enlighten like crack you did that with John?
Oh I do like Skinner jock like to have yes, which Uncle John
clay time. He on Twitter as well.
Go find those guys kentucky.com slash Sports.
If you're listening and you're in BBN and you don't subscribe
to the Herald-Leader, you're legitimately missing out easily.
I mean, easily the best coverage, right?
Absolutely not about it. And so, so Ben, I mean, look, is
Hunter Dickinson going to win the Derby.
Or how does that work? No, I don't think he's going to
end up here after after this week real quick.
Yes, NASCAR race in Kansas. I guess this weekend's a good
idea. Lots of show me your so with
Oscar. She boy.
Is he coming? Yeah, I would I'm leaning toward
he's coming back now but there's yeah, there's still a lot to
work. All right, let's get back to
that durbeyfield. Alright we're going to start
with the 4 horse here. Confidence game trainer, Keith,
the sore Mo, and James Graham aboard.
This is the don't tell my wife Stables who also had my boy Jack
a couple years ago. Is that a great name?
But don't tell my wife stable. Yeah, I don't want to know.
By the way, I saw a woman wearing this hat, it mean, the
name means nothing. Oh yeah.
I mean the names dead. Okay.
You told your wife I'll because we saw The Confidence Game.
Had it on the backside that a couple women wearing them too
soon. I was not better yet.
No. But like, don't tell me it's not
telling your wife and then your wife's therapist will help
Hawker sea with the fourth Confidence Game.
Definitely one of the buzz horses Louis boss W think is the
buzzword we're here on Saturday. I'm calling it confidence came
to Buster's, winner of the Rebel, Stakes decided to skip
100-point races all together. Do you like the smooth in the
slop in the rebel? I don't like that move.
But I get it. This is the king Guillermo
route. Drink to the Kentucky Derby.
I and luckily didn't spike a fever.
Like I don't know a third of the field here and so Dan, and this
horse I can't figure it out. Everyone either.
This is this is the polar horse. Yeah.
It like her. Don't.
Okay? Because I pay attention to
breeding which you and I don't know if Mike does that all this
is a candy ride horse. How many times have I said the
words royally bread in the last time out of a burning Nene mayor
that brought 25 thousand dollars at auction.
His legs must be on backwards, and that makes sense.
That if he is, if he is not a well conformed horse, it makes
sense that he would perform better in the slop than he does
on a fast track. And the fact that he hasn't run
since the rebel, he's a chuck for me, I could chuck them out.
How much you been? Are you leaving comments game?
Take it, you take it. No.
Well with all these scratches, he might sneak into a try
Factor, so sure, just because yeah.
And you know, obviously in a different move from desormeaux,
I think you got my boy Jack for 20,000 if I remember right?
And I think Texas red was also okay.
Yeah. Right.
Not that big of a purchase so amazing.
How there are groups like that isn't a day?
Yeah. Yeah.
That mean he obviously has a horse, he has an eye for a horse
that he can. Live with some deficiencies in
the confirmation and still think they can run through it.
It's Abby Smith of horse racing track.
Let's go my boy chubby the next 30, more points.
Extra fee horse, I need that. Like I do knocks actually had
Confidence Game in my hair leader, picks at and but not as
a horse, I thought we could win, but just like you just said, is
a horse I think could be very live in the trifecta better.
So Of the five horse. Tap it tries top pitchers.
Best horse now, Luis saez aboard, I think some people
thought was his best friend. I think this quite possibly the
most talented horse on the field.
We've talked at maturity is going to be the oh question do
you happen to take? Well don't they?
They do it and you know everything set up for this horse
to get, you know, to get to the final four.
Hope we don't get beep, I can't stay in the second round.
You know, you just never know what's gonna happen.
So Dan, what about you on? Tap at Tracer.
You like the source? Yeah.
He has all the talent in the world.
We just, he reminds with this be the most expensive purchase to
ever win. The Kentucky Derby 1.3.
I took great ocean. Now, what it, what?
How much it was Lucy, actually, Pegasus doesn't building million
flag? I sold for a ton of.
Yeah. Like, I think is million flat
when he died, I bought him. So I think this would be the
most expensive horse ever to win the Kentucky Derby.
Who the talent keeps moving in. All right.
It's a good section. So your geeky talk about
advertise. Do you want me to fill in now or
well? I mean he as I checked every box
right? Can you know we're here?
You know you go ahead. I'll say this is I'm all I want
are doing this already here. You know go ahead.
I think he's a big what? When I watch him run, he looks
like a big Goofy teenager and if he makes that next step.
Even in, he's very talented. Might be the most talented horse
in the race, but he sure doesn't look like he's put it all
together to me. And you know with all this going
on here a mile and a quarter in front of all these people.
I he's not my Top Choice. I'll say that.
It wouldn't surprise me if he won, but he's my not my top
choice, I think big Goofy teenagers the best description
of him that I've heard? Yeah, yeah, absolutely no
question. Yeah, I know he's my toss among
the favorites here. I don't Like, the way he breaks
and of what 18 horse field now, and it just seems like it takes
them forever to once he gets moving, he's faster than anybody
in this field, but it takes them forever to do that.
And the way he breaks, I think he's going to have some trouble
getting to that point. And once he finally gets moving,
it might be too late. Yeah, and what might be the most
besmirch Louisiana Derby. Winner of all time.
Kings. Barn comes in at number six.
Another Todd Pletcher horse here written by Jose Ortiz, through
the first time Jose rides, Kings Barnes.
Be in the Kentucky Derby for runs four different jockeys,
very strange undefeated coming in the only undefeated horse,
but still very disrespected in a lot of ways oppression.
So, I mean, there's a little face, right?
No question. This is the Overlook course of
the week. I can't remember the last time
we had an undefeated Derby horse and everyone was like yeah he's
itõs. When I mean easy toss, which is
interesting because one of the old things that you had to look
at his like had they had a triple digits.
Prefigure sure the echo base to be figure has him having to
Triple digits be Fisher. You know, and that's that's not
easy to do. There's not a lot of horses in
this field to have one. He's a fascinating horse and the
thing I'll say about the Louisiana Derby, I'll say two
things that are very positive for him.
Number one, it's a Milan 360. Only talking about an extra half
for a long here. The second part is, it's not his
fault that Flavia and rocked everybody to sleep on the front
end, right? That's what he's supposed to do.
You hire the best jockey to win the ding race?
And that's exactly what he did, right gets out front.
He's like, you know, I'm going to set these moderate fractions
and No, I'm looking behind me. No one's there.
Okay, great. I'm just going to keep doing
this and he had to kick at the end.
Did he was he hit them at the end?
I didn't need to know. So the pace of that race very
slow minute 57, but remember an extra half for a long on that
race. We're talking about other horses
coming out like hit show in that Gotham minute 54 over a mile and
an eighth. It's still fast.
The question is the extra half Furlong here?
Can he finish it in 2001 2002? Something like that.
It took off this field. All right.
Well, well, that's a sign of vocal Mala, tap it, on the
bottom of it is that you love them.
I love them. Okay.
Let's hear why? I just go back.
If you're at a computer right now or will be before the before
the price goes up, go back and look at all three of his races.
You just absolutely flies out of the gate.
I every single time. As you said, not his fault that
the fractions were so slow in the Louisiana Derby.
Do I see if he breaks the way he has in the past, he gets out
there, he gets a good position, probably a link there to off the
lead. I would imagine maybe a little
more and he's clean turning for help from home and then it's
just a matter of if we can get them on a quarter and I think he
can. So yeah he's going to be in all
of my stuff and might even have a little win bet on them again
that that's more bucking history like during specific.
I so I'm all in on that this year.
Last time we saw Derby, winner only have three races and three
wins coming in. His name was Justin has not yet
2018. That was the last time, of
course, the it's very unusual for us to have a horse.
That doesn't runs a two-year-old.
Yep, it's happened twice. So Kings Barnes fighting that.
Yeah, Least have a modern example of it.
We do would justify we at least have that.
I'm not saying is definite today, but we, at least have an
example, you know, that brings up the extra point there,
because of course, just about goes on to win the Triple Crown
and there's some health issues after that, part of the reason
we want to see horses run as two-year-olds, it's because
those bones need to have the stress on them.
No question to strengthen for that this Triple Crown run.
So that's a bitchy one of the worst arguments in horse racing
is that they shouldn't run it too.
It's such a terrible argument. Damn, Remind me next segment
after we get done with Randy Moss.
Okay, and who's on NBC coverage? He's on a podcast, he was on a
podcast called. Pardon the interruption I've
ever heard that pot a TV show. No, not that show.
It's a podcast called Park. These are the most irreverent
people you have ever heard, first on the process, and they
had Randy Moss, they haven't before the Derby and before the
Breeders Cup. He said, Dumbest thing I have
ever heard anything anybody say about horse racing?
So remind remind me that we get to that before.
The you know why you did that? What does Randy Moss has the
opposite hair than Ben Roberts? All right, we're going to like
being get out of here. Ben, thanks for calling us man.
Reincarnate yes, or no, I like them among the 50 21 shots.
But not, not okay, no one that's like super Factor, kind of.
But Alaska is I like ya get it's in him and see what happens.
This is my style right there. Thanks guys.
All right. Thanks man.
It's got check our time right here, right now.
We're good. We're doing great.
Yeah, we're doing fantastic. Do we want to keep on going down
the durbeyfield a little bit further?
I know. We're kind of punching through a
whole bunch of right now. You're doing great, but I think
we're on a roll. Let's, let's talk about
reincarnate here, because this is a potential buzzwords are to
that number from 50, to 12:43 is a massive move.
I don't know how much of that is local money.
I'll be really clear about that. Dan you?
And I are not on this. Sure.
People heard you, right? It's 52.
One online, 050 not 15 to 17 to 12:43 Chucky Chucky.
I don't, I don't see anything. I don't see anything on the form
that would make you want to bet this horse and I didn't see
anything on the track in the morning.
That would make you want to bet this.
And I don't see anything on the track in the last two races that
would make you one of them know that's what I say.
It's I don't get I don't get how this horse is getting bet this
horse lost to read. Route 1 and King Russell.
I don't have to racist. Yeah, all right.
I don't get it. I don't get it.
His last good race was the Sham. I do not want to take away from
the Sham. That generally is a good
predictor of good, California horses.
But since the, you know, who didn't run that race is a horse
named practice, move. Correct.
And so, he did not go against the best of California Manner.
And here was not in that race Skinner was not in that race.
I am going to agree with Dan that he's not part of the
equation. Lost of Fort.
Bragg is a two-year-old look. These are these are things there
or Bragg is in the in the pad a mile.
That's all you need to know, right?
Yeah so I think we're all the same we're going to we're going
to toss the seven reincarnate which this will be energy.
Occasion. Because we're going to get to
the eight horse maze 12:45, Javier Castellano board, Gustavo
Delgado is the trainer here for the good magic.
We have made a lot of good Alpha jokes about being a small state.
Yes. I feel really good for Gustavo
the Scotto because only how you 41 starters this year Dan and
he's got a starter at owns the horse and he's in the derby with
Mage. That's a cool story.
Yes, it's a very, very cool store story and I think I'm a
lot higher on this horse. That you two.
Alright, he got a bad break, he didn't come out of the gate
smoothly in the Florida Derby. He made a huge move around the
turn way. Premature got got in front of
forte, past Forte on the turn and they hit 40.
I know you can only hit a horse six times but man they were
heels and elbows and whips and everything to get Forte to catch
this horse in. His third start, I'm higher on
Mage than you two are part of that is because base had a much
better post positions all going through that turn than than
Forte did. Right?
I mean, I think that's part of it even though I know he got out
of the gate slowly. Here's the thing I worry about
here, okay, I get Luis saez in Florida, I get Javier Castellano
here. If Louise on this horse, I feel
very differently. I'll be very clear.
I think that Javier Castellano was not capable of piloting, a
horse like this and to the winning tuck and the only time
Javier Castellano wrote. The stories that came in fourth
is the only time they miss the board Forte.
Rocky Canton, psycho Mischief, all head of them.
I do not want to hold that against him because I do think
horse going going to terms of the first time I think he while
he's losses by 6 and 3/4 length my senses he only loses cycle on
this trip by one length. He's actually in the group
there. I'm not going to hold that part
of it against him but I trust lose size considerably more
Churchill Downs and I do have your Castle.
All right, remember the nine horses, you know?
Do you know Castellanos one of his many Derbies as we have?
I'm up, look, I'm waiting for Derby. 150.
I'm going to cut weight. Hit the sauna with the trash
bags. Gonna have your logo.
There you go. Alright.
The the track is filling up with people here.
Still love it. Love the bus.
Mike. I told Louis, I told Louis
earlier, when I come to the derby, I come early.
Yeah. And I'm not going to miss a
thing. I always when I come to the
derby I always come early. There were more people.
I walked in right after 9:00 there were more people Coming
into the race track at 9:00 in the morning that I have ever
seen ever. I don't know how many people are
going to have here today, but it's going to be a bunch.
I guarantee I guarantee you that it's kind of a weird weather day
where, you know, the rain chances are really, really low.
It's a good comfortable temperature.
We got a nice breeze. The sun's not beating on you out
there because it's been, it's a cloudy, you know, it's almost
like the perfect scenario. Yeah, I know, it's grab
beautiful day, beautiful day bottled up.
Let's hope for any better. My daughter's in the Field.
Should I be worried about her? Yeah I should be worried about.
She was that guy from the distillers.
Yeah. She's not the one running across
the outlet, the toilets. No for dupatta.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know I, you know, I'm waiting for the
phone call. I guess it's like make sure I
can get to the infield. If I gotta get your guys, we got
Sweeney put on some headphones and all the hair.
No, I didn't want to get on the air.
I was just putting on so I could hear about 30 seconds behind you
on the street, right. You guys want him walking.
Or were they just swearing in people?
They did this last year didn't really what they do whatever
you're doing. Yeah.
Where they're actually we did miss it there.
A couple cool move things happen here, right?
Yep. This is which one.
Sorry, go ahead. I'm gonna talk about yesterday.
Okay, I was gonna say today, they do two events.
The first one is people become Citizens, United States and
every day at Churchill Downs. Very cool.
Dan. You can probably speak to that.
Yeah, very cool. All right.
What did you become a citizen of the Churchill Downs?
No, the second one is what is the dead fish?
What a dead fish you through a danis.
I know. I know you do a dead fish,
right? Was hoping and I'm one of those
rare people that comes to Churchill Downs today.
Today to watch horses race. I'm one of the I realize I'm one
of the more important than people becoming one of the few
And then the other thing that happens is I think like 20, 25
people join the Army today. Oh, yeah.
Right. That enlisted a.
And so that's the other thing that happens every Derby Day.
The other thing that happens, Dan is, I've always blown away,
we're here early, we hear that. We're here for the Pledge of
Allegiance or SUV for the I9 National Title.
Three times a day, right? But for the early 1080p people
who are ear early are in full salute because they're veterans
and your are mine, didn't get sake.
Just how many freakin veterans are running.
Absolutely. And just Stan.
Thank you, everyone. That's on that.
And no shortage of that here. The cool moment I was going to
get to was yesterday during the survivors parade.
Rachel platten, who sings the song Fight Song recording
artist? Sings that fight song?
It's great. It's a good song.
You actually would like this song.
It's not a it's not a hip-hop song and she was singing a live
here man. And it was like, oh, she's at
the last of the, The Anthem said a.
Yeah, it was a fantastic. So you miss that Thunder?
Yeah, I did too many cigars. Yeah.
Well, I'm with you since 1257, we're going to go to break.
Yep. You want to tell the people what
you're doing? Instead of hanging out with us
her weight. By the way, can I interject?
Of course, Dan is still being allergic to sink to smoke.
I mean, essentially, the oh, I don't have, I have no trouble
with cigarette smoke. It's just enjoy Pipe smoke, but
if somebody lights up a cigar within 50 yards from here, I
taste it. And I tasted the more I smell.
What's bad luck about that? He loves horse racing.
That's right. Yeah.
I mean, they're synonymous that's why let's go.
A terrible, what? A terrible kind of ballsy
things. Like why couldn't it be green
bean? Why couldn't it be just anything
else grapes for the leather of a basketball and cigar smoke?
Dennis will put the, I mean you put a lot of that that is a bad
drawing. You pulled a lot of right cards
in your life but that's a cruddy one.
I think it does need to be said, it's kind of cruddy.
It's super credit. All right, we're gonna go break.
That's why I love skiing. And we'll be right back and
we'll talk about the 6 race. This is the horse racing happy
hour.
