All right, welcome in SEO. Addition horses.
Missing happy hour. We let Mike take this one off.
He's doing Kentucky Derby, Festival stuff because of course
he is wearing a pink jacket somewhere in the world.
To Mike we say bleep off but we do not say bleep off to our
guide. An element is good enough to
join us, whatever we do things in Maryland.
This is the last of our road to the Maryland shows we will be we
will have finished of the road trip to Maryland by the time we
talked to Dan next and it will be in person at Pimlico, it old
Hilltop. Oh, where they will move for
x-ray. Or weekends of race issue.
Dan, how long have they been doing for weekends up there?
It's been the last couple of years, not counting one year
where there was some issues with the Laurel track surface and the
spindle ago took on a heavier load and really surprisingly.
It actually handled it really well, but I'm doing it the last
few years, kind of a mini Boutique meet.
Let's give Laurel a break because that surface really
takes a lot of wear and tear over the winter.
Yeah. So of course, this is a his
Laurels version of an early Derby Day.
If you will coming up on Saturday with the Federico
tessio, I say Den prep races are also predictor races.
For example, if you win the Florida Derby you have a good
chance to win the Kentucky Derby.
If you in the sand, Anita Derby. You have a good chance to win
the Kentucky Derby. And if you win the tessio you
have a very bad chance to win the Preakness.
You have a very slim chance to win the Preakness and there are
often times where you're not going to the Preakness at all.
That's that's it. That wouldn't have enough points
for the Kentucky Derby. That being said, there are some
promising. Three-year-olds in the testimony
is kind of an interesting handicapping puzzle.
Going a mile and an eighth. Yeah I agree with you.
I think actually the Maryland card is is interesting, the late
card and by the way and I have to do this because the folks in
Maryland are obviously watching closing with the maiden special
weight. I appreciate these people.
You are doing the right thing for steaks in a maiden special.
We will take it and horse racing happy hour.
If you weren't going to bring it up, I was because that's the way
to close the card with a picture.
But I'm trying to find a single. That's right.
A couple of grand motion first timers on.
That's what I'll do. It's go barely Jockey Club.
That's what I'm talking about. I love it.
All right so Dan's on Dan we always start the show with a
couple of Derby results and exactly go ahead and jump on
screen. Did you actually get these
together that I call you to the screen too early?
Oh no, we lost a call, right? So the obviously the main last
just looking at the show, she, okay.
Did you send me a? I just put Derby prep results in
the first segment. I could talk about those but
Dad, we all watch the races. It's all right.
You're gonna go. All right.
So who's most impressive of the three winners last weekend did?
Oh, that's a good question. I would have to say tappet rice.
I thought was very, very impressive.
This is a horse, I think that still learning heat.
I love the writing God, he broke better, which I think is, T, he
didn't break great. But the fear going in Breaking
from the one hole was that he was going to break.
Slowly, everybody was going to crush in front of him, and he
would be in trouble, he broke. Okay, they rode him to get
position. The key to him is get him on the
outside. I think, post position, rarely
is important to the Kentucky Derby.
Except for the one, all, it's important for tappet Trice.
I think it's important for the source to get outside and in the
clear, you still got to ride him very hard.
He ran. Well, I thought the runner-up
verifying ran well, in is a sleeper in the derby, practical
move. I mean, what do you want?
The older horse doesn't go up. Other words does is run, fast
races. All the I was just get perfect
trips. So if you're a trip handicap,
you're saying, when is his luck finally, going to run out and it
could be with 19 other horses in the derby.
Yeah, it's interesting. He almost had the same trip as
kings Barn had in the Louisiana Derby, a couple of weeks ago,
where you think? Okay, so flopping did exactly
what he should do, but that's not going to happen at the
Derby's, not going to have those splits and that kind of thing
and, you know, II with you, I think practical move do.
I think once in a while we get a little, we get a little trip
trip - and sometimes we need to give horses credit for making
their trip and actually follow through on it.
That's an excellent point horses.
Like cigar back in the day horses have wonderful, practical
speed, they make their trip If they always seem to put
themselves in good position, which is why, most of the time
we hate playing 11 closures, know, we were seeds that are at
the absolute mercy of trip horses that are absolutely at
the mercy of paste. This source is not at the mercy
of anything. He puts himself in good position
to win races. There you go.
So we do have the Bluegrass. This is from NBC Sports and
their YouTube page. Stretch cap and rice is coming
onto the outside. Clear the air trucks.
Back blazing 7 says foreign mendelssohn's marches Femme.
Verifying tappet rice going out at for the lead eighth of a mile
to go Toyota Bluegrass verifying.
It's right there to the inside temperature Price is Right
alongside past the 16th called, Tippett Trice puts an affront
tap, it twice to Trice wins the toilet.
And Louis, what I think we saw there was Superior stamina in
the last hundred yards or tap it tries to of course, has that big
pedigree just wearing down a very game horse.
Now, I won't argue with anyone that says, tap it twice just be
verifying by what a long neck. Papert rice is going to be the
second or third choice in the derby.
Verifying might be twenty five to one.
I know where the value is. I'd go with verifying.
I wouldn't argue that point because I think verifying is a
beautifully bred horse with great connections.
A lot of upside I'd I just think tap it tries to the mile and a
quarter might have a bit of an edge.
I agree with that and I think that's where he and Forte really
separate themselves. I remember some of the
criticisms in the Florida Derby now I thought man they run that
race for another eighth of a mile.
He wins by open links in the Florida Derby and I think we I
don't know that that would have happened.
I think verifying keeps Pace with them.
If they run another for a long in that race and that scenario
and I'm with you, you know, it was interesting.
You don't usually see this and I thought they did a good job with
the coverage. Dan When there was an inquiry
afterward and frankly an objection afterward, Luis saez
was not happy and he was he was he was audibly.
Not pleased with with the internet with the with the
objection and all that. So I did that catch.
You off guard a little bit or have you heard of jock talk like
that before I want a job? Talk like that before.
Usually you know not on camera but certainly I forgot look like
that before and again I can understand the situation.
I thought it was kind of a silly inquiry.
There you go. Alright and so Zach.
It's the next one that we have here.
Alright, great will go out to New York for what should just be
called the upset steaks. Now in the wood Memorial Arctic
arrogance when woman at 12 and 4/4 3/4 of a mile, there's a
group of four upfront and dreamlike is about to take
command. Its dreamlike who's ready to
challenge a very game Arctic arrogance who's gutting it out
towards the inside. Arctic arrogance is their dream,
like hit show is up on the outside and Lord miles.
A huge number is trying to pull up a shocker for across the
racetrack. The one hit show is now putting
those in front dreamlike is still there.
More miles up on the outside, they're coming down to the
Finish, hit show, Lord miles hit shall Lord, miles, Lord miles.
Chris Griffin. I still think that's a horse
that, that down the road at least can win some races.
I think in the Derby with 60 points.
Obviously if they send him he's going to be in the Starting
Gate. He's a real real Contender to be
a an Exacta Trifecta kind of horse.
You do read it really has a lot of ability.
I think we've seen that in other races and maybe the post
position did hurt him here, but I don't know.
I think if he's a true Kentucky, Derby Contender, he supposed to
dig in and beat Lord miles. I hate playing work this coming
out of blanket. Finishes was a really three
Superior efforts under the wire there.
They were, you know, you know, it was a half a length,
surrounding the three and the fourth place.
Finisher Arctic arrogance is just probably a mile.
I won't take anything away from the winner.
He's actually a pretty well, bred horse and against his
Emma's a half-sister to Caledonia Road.
Won the Breeders Cup, juvenile fillies and was a champion two
year old and he's by curling. So maybe he has some upside
potential but right now the New York path, it just seems like
every prep race. There's some sort of question
mark. John did we have already had the
discussion? Did anyone stand out to you in
the three major, preps last weekend, as the as the best
runner from last weekend? Well, last week going into last
week, I thought Forte and a little vampire, who am I talk to
Derby horses? And really nothing that happened
has really changed my mind about that practical move.
I thought he went well, in the Santa Anita Derby also thought
they were runner-up. Mandarin hero also ran a good
race that being said because he's Japanese.
I think men are in hero. He draws in his is going to be
over back quite a bit. I don't like anyone coming out
of the water, not because it coming out of the water and
people are like old like some magic quality about the wood and
makes the hoses and worse. I don't think that's true, but I
just don't think anyone in that ways.
Is that good as far as Adobe horse?
I'm still so, I am good. So sticking with Forte and Angel
vampire and do we have this in Anita Derby replay?
Exact because we could go wash practical move hold off Manner
and hero after A mile. And an eighth are at Santa
Anita. Mandarin hero, he's moving right
into contention splitting Rivals with an eighth of a mile to go
practical grinding away Skinner on the outside.
Well, that was a fun one. Cool story with the ownership of
course as well. And, and at em, yah teen didn't
have to transfer a horse as well which is kind of a fun story for
Tim. I'm sure and so a great run
there, frankly a fantastic race, three horses really did run
their races. I think that we saw the best of
Skinner in that race. For example reminds me a little
bit of the Nyquist year coming out where we had three really
good, California horses coming in, in the last of those was a
horse named Whitmore. Who finish last to the derby as
well. What other way, of course, 7812
grade 1 And so on Dan that race, you think practical move can
make that move to 10 furlongs and maintain that kind of pace
by the distance is a question for this kind of horse.
He does have great tactical speed as we talked about in the
open. He does seem to make his trips,
but you're going to be betting them.
Now of several good trips. He's one of the fastest horses
going into the race. He's going to take money to me.
It really all depends on value and I'm not sure you're going to
get a ton of value on him, just watching that race.
The first and second-place finishers basically saved ground
most of the way. Yeah, I would give Skinner maybe
a little bit of extra credit for simply being on the outside.
Ours is obviously still learning.
He has a really nice push button acceleration.
It seems like he runs in spots as of right now, he's on the
bubble. I think he's 21st on Derby
points, but it would be interesting if he got in,
especially if there was a pace collapse.
So cool, colleague of ours. Jenny Reese came up with the
final fractions Theory, few, a few years ago, of course, Five
Horses, according to their, preps would qualify for That
practical move is one of those alongside 48, a Trice verifying
and a little horse named to Phil's, man.
Where are we on to Phil's? I know we got the winner out of
that race last year, but of course, last year's race wasn't
like many of the Derby's that we've had dandiya like to do you
like to fills. A lot of people around here
really like him. I like to Phil's I like to fill
because that Turf way we race. Yes was a breakout performance.
And I think a lot of folks are going to say, well, he's an
all-weather horse at the end of the day, but I think if you go
back, Back and look at some of his prior running lines on dirt
there. Okay so who's to say that it's
not just a combination that he liked to be synthetic that day
but also he's just a horse that's coming into his own in
the right time he's going to be one of the fastest horses coming
in on figs and he's going to be a very good price.
I think to John that we've seen a lot of second year in a row
frankly a lot of horses, translate well from Turfway to
Keeneland, for example it so baby we could see that
transition as well for 2 bills from Turfway.
Churchill you want, you know, you watch that came and jump.
I should know 22 fills that he does have good, do it for.
I mean, he's he the two times takes one on dude, including a
runner at Churchill Downs. So it's all.
It's all like he's pure synthetic clothes, trying to the
first time. I mean, he is, I might be pretty
live in the derby and if you get 20 or 25 to 1, how can I talk to
awesome. Yeah, that's about right.
Okay, well cool. I think it's a it's actually
heading up to be more of an interesting top of the field in
the derby that I was worried. It was going to be.
And so I think I do this every year as well, but I worry that
there's only gonna be one or cement.
His name is epicenter in Iran s anyway, so who knows?
All right, so let's get into the the handicapping for today.
What is the Maryland Jockey Club?
Ridiculous name for Saturday, I am know if there is one II
didn't see how it out. Um, think one of them is if it
is this Saturday or Nest is The stakes.
The spring steak, spectacular. That's one of them.
I don't know what if it's this week or next week as if I
suggest week too. So it's one of these to come on.
Maryland. Jockey Club were trying to have
a civilization. I did say jogging for the show,
Maiden special weight to close the card and That's what I'm
talking about. That's what we need.
Well, you know, it's funny and every year, every year I get so
excited for grass to come back and then I see the first few
grass races and and everybody is either a coming off a long
layoff or B has no grass form at all, like not even like last
year. Thought I'm grass for the first
time. So you basically studying tea
leaves. And in fact, the first cracks
race, our view was today, Thursday and Was Won by a horse
who had Recent grad experience, he had raised at Tampa Bay Downs
in December. So I think that's something
we'll keep me in mind over the next few days as the grass
Warriors start to come back. Yeah, it's tough.
Good to see you. Good to see the tarp off if you
will to use a terrible baseball and empty.
So let's head to Laurel, very cool day, it is tessio day.
If you are new to this series, we're doing a series of shows
about the road to the Preakness and snow just like there's a
road to the Kentucky Derby. There's one with in Maryland, to
qualify for the Preakness and there are two.
Winning in stakes races on Saturday.
Race 9 is the Weber City misc. It's 43 year-old Phillies
winning in for the black-eyed, Susan, which is run on Friday,
previous weekend. And then the Federico tessio is
the winning in for the guys into the Preakness.
Get a starting spot in the gate. I joked earlier that the
Federico tessio is one of the great predictors of who is not
going to win the Preakness, all right?
We use. So let's go to the Heavenly
cause those this starts that late, pick five, it's race
seven. It's a mile on the dearth of one
turn mile down there at Laurel Phillies mayor's 3 and up.
Okay, they're pumping the purses this weekend.
There's about 500,000 dollars in the last five races here at
Laurel, very nice card here. A couple of interesting horses
here, Dan, I think that, you know, I think you could probably
go a lot of different ways to me.
This was a little chalky in this one, I like past the champagne
and they're going to give her one more chance.
And I know a lot of folks are going to look at her last race
in the fridge and say it was lousy.
And it wasn't very good. Is the favorite.
I think the key for her, Hurry. She's going to get back on Lasix
and I think if you peruse her form, she's a much better Filly
on Lasix than she is without her race to starts back, Tampa Bay
or first started from a long layoff going to Milan the 16th
was with Lasik. She ran very, very well
considering the layoffs. This is a mere.
We've talked about her before on this show.
She's obviously, as a lot of back class.
She was one second in the Ashland at Keeneland.
The Malla thought she got beat something like a head that day
injuries of derailed her career. She hasn't panned out I like her
too. Turn my Lycra tactical speed.
Do you like anybody here? I think pass a champagne will be
hard to beat, Harvick the throw too high a price for us.
As we think of have to respect every five.
Award wanted made a nice move at a One Tone mile to win the
Geisha. Steaks three starts back and
since then has hit the boy twice.
When well, in in the carnival last hour behind spoiler alert,
Marvel is and headed for the good second.
In a 50 game effort going to turns to starts back.
Now she gets back to the 12-mile, think she's out who
best at this distance and I think she'll get overlooked in
the betting marvelous 12:45 Morning Line.
We really going to get overlooked in the bedding.
She had been a super consistent. Again starter allowance types.
Last you won the Maryland million.
Distaff started handicap, put in a huge rally to win.
But can I have the steaks last out at Big odds?
It was his second start off a layoff, not sure if she can win,
but at it, Cries. I think she's worth using at
least in try factors or things like that.
Interesting. So neither of you mentioned, the
favorites bets dream on the outside.
Coming in from Gulfstream, might be wet weather on Saturday.
Do we look at any of that form as well.
We've got some horses in here and I think have some good wet
weather form. We've seen, at least a win on
the wet. Go for hybrid eclipse.
For example, Dan. Are you looking at all any of
that for Saturday? Not just yet.
I think. I'll wait till it rains on the
Fly. The champagne was coming off.
The layoff past, the champagne was coming off the laugh and
pass the champagne. Absolutely dusted, bet stream.
And I was very, very happy to see Beth stream come out of that
race and just are at Gulfstream. But if you look at her past
performances, where her best races Gulfstream, it seems like
that is her favorite track. I think she's going to be tested
for class here. I know she's very short on the
morning line. She obviously can win if she
repeats her last race, but at a short, Rice.
I'd rather have passed the champagne than her.
All right, so that is of course the Heavenly, cause we'll do the
seven for a long version. For the open company in the
Frank White Lie, this is the late pick for starting the race
eight seven, furlongs on the Dirt 3 and up a hundred thousand
dollars on the line here. Dad, I'll go back to you here
interesting race. We go longer with the ladies
than we do with the guys, very Progressive in Maryland.
What do you have going in this one?
Like two horses in here. First, we'll start with the
horse. I ended up picking second in the
paper and that's the New York great millionaire.
Bank at a horse that goes out for.
Steve, asked me to City, seven years old now, he's won a Stakes
race every year since he was two.
He's been steaks, place twice in 2023.
He's just a horse, you have to respect.
He is turning back to 7 which is a little bit of a question mark,
but it seems like the worst is always seems to show show up and
give a good effort. I landed on Factor it in.
I know he got beaten the steak to starts back but Carlos, man.
See, I just found a great spot for him after that, and a little
allowance race, you just cruised up for From the back and put
that field away. I like his tactical ability and
if you just look at his peepees ever since they gave him that
eight-month rest or so, he's come back a completely different
worse factored in another horse that seems to like to run on
Lasix as well. Gets to keep it here in a
Maryland race. John anybody stand out to you
maybe a little bit of a long shot.
Well I'm very excited to bet olives Josie in the Knoxville of
and then he got scratched which kind of ruin all my plans.
He's had a good workout. Since then woke last Saturday
for furlongs in 48 and now he's Back in here in a tough spot.
Then the not full of was that being said, he's got a huge
races in his last two starts, he has a lot of early speed in it
in English in a race that for a pretty good quality sakes.
Doesn't have a lot of it. So I think he could end up the
very advantageous pace and he could be gone at.
Hopefully a good number. He's 61 on Morning, Light.
And I'd be happy to get around there.
Yeah, we do you 621 on the line here that Great.
You got your nose only rented? I got.
Okay. That's okay.
All right. I missed that one today.
Keeneland on the TV's at the bars, around town here today.
So I must have missed that one. All right, so although we were
sitting, this is race 9 late pick three here, at Laurel Park
mile, and a sixteenth reminder Laurel does the prep races
correctly. We ran a 1 turn my last time
with the Phillies they are now routing going to turns here, one
mile and a 16th on the dirt course.
Therefore three-year-old, Phillies hundred twenty-five.
And as I mentioned at the open of this segment, when you're in,
for the black-eyed, Susan, is this a good predictor for the
black-eyed? Susan.
Damn, I'm not sure this is a great predictor this year for
the black-eyed. Susie, I think we'll get some
whores. Like last year, Luna Bell will
be named Champion tomorrow, I believe American brand.
Ya tomorrow, she went in the black-eyed.
Susan after dominating the crop in Maryland, she didn't run very
well but it's a different class of horse that shows up for the
grated black-eyed. Susan, I don't think it's a
great predictor. I think this race is intriguing.
Because distance is a huge question for a lot of these
sources. There you go and we do get a
nice field of seven. Here is Sheldon.
Russell back to ride. The whole, is he gonna stay in
Maryland for a while? I would hope so.
I hope we would want them around for a while.
Yeah, that's a plan. He had a widow today, he who
wrote up wonder where Craig is directly over waiting.
Boo him, terrible. All right, so We were sitting
here, like I said, when you're in for the black-eyed, Susan,
one of my favorite days in racing.
It's like for really great races, you get the Pym special,
everything else, and there's and there's like 40,000 people
hanging out. It's a real easy way to get
around to Moco. It's actually really nice day.
If you can get out there on the East Coast, a couple of really
short prices here, between girl trouble, the three, who's less
than two to one and then pharaohs baby gal.
Who is the six horse here as well?
For the aforementioned, pretty Russell, and Sheldon and hubby.
If you We'll leave his name, our out of it.
Do we like the two shorter prices here?
Danner is there. Someone else to play?
I guess of the two shorter prices.
I do like girl trouble. Although I do have a lot of
concerns about this one's ability to get the distance.
And this is a race where I'd love to sit with three or four
other handicappers and analyze the trip because it's easy to
watch your last race. And say, well, Paco Lopez didn't
do very well. She was alone speed at odds on.
She ended up breaking being rated back into the pocket.
The next thing, you know, instead of going to the outside,
Side where your 125 and supposed to run down the closures, he
ends up in between horses and maybe gets checked and there's
another way to look at it and say, she probably should have
won that race anyway. I talked to Butch Reed.
He's a little concerned about the distance as well, but I do
think real trouble from a speed figure and consistency
standpoint. I should be right there.
She draws a really advantageous inside post position for the
short, run to the first turn if you're looking for a long time
and crypto, mama is a little bit interesting because her last
race was a nice step forward. And I think she's just rounding
into form, she's not too far behind the two favorites.
And frankly, the race before that, she lost to shoot a booty
who ended up has to be in the Starting Gate for the Kentucky
Oaks. Oh, she's been running a good
company as well. So one to look at.
Do you think doesn't matter much to you Dan?
The girl trouble is carrying seven less pounds in this race
than she did. Last time, I think it does, I'm
usually not awake guy, but I think in situations like this,
especially with horses that are somewhat questionable at the
distance, I think weight loss is going to be kind of a big deal
here on the key of the race. Is, how is the pace going to
shake out? Because Brittany Russell's been
on record saying, pharaohs baby gallons of Catch Me.
If You Can sort of Mayor, it'll be interesting to see after
sending glacial fractions her. Most recent race, if she's fast
enough to make the lead against some other Fleet Phillies.
If this paste is hot, it could be a little bit of a meltdown,
but I do. I like go troubles, versatility.
I think she learned some things last time out, despite losing,
how to race in and among horses, had a race in traffic, if need
be All right, John cats of the Timber.
Not a great beyond the wire last time.
Out is the other other Russell in this race?
Do you think she could rebound around a good racer?
It's definitely possible. That being said, at least on the
prison at scale, she didn't regress that much in the beyond
the why shouldn't we t22 starts back when just an 81 last
timeout? Granted, it's it's not a strong
field but I still think you've got him up against it.
What long shot I kind of like and this is a real long shot.
Here is number five. Six, the hard way 15 to One for
Rudy, Sanchez Solomon. And Jaime Rodriguez who won at
about a forty percent clip in the month of March.
She came from, well off the pace to be a pretty solid first level
allowance field last time out over a wet track.
So, if it does thunderstorm that could play to her hand, we and
phone away. A career-best video has one tuna
rolls. Think she's getting good at the
right time, and if things really go Haywire on the front end and
they could There is a decent amount of speed in here, you
know, crazy thing that happened and I don't think you could tone
down Jamie at Big Ox, I like that.
Alright, so yeah, lots of different ways to go there.
Hopefully, we catch a price in the Weaver City, misc, erase
that. I think we might really catch a
price is the Federico tessio 125,000 dollars here within your
informal practice under 25 Grand, on the line Mile and an
eighth over that dirt course at at Laurel, remind me of this, a
mile and an eighth course. So, we're starting at the finish
and finish it. Finish, Yes, one full lap,
sorry. I talked about a lot of places
on this show, so let's picture a good.
Yeah, yeah. It's so names that, if you have
listened to this series, you will know coffee with Chris
circling. The drain you're going to know
the name. Oh, cripes, who else is in here?
It's a joke. Uh, eldest son.
Yes, Prince of Jericho, for sure.
If you've been following those have been the guys that we've
been following. The most Dan.
Do we go to form here or do we think that we're going to?
We could bring it up. I think it'll probably go to for
my, but the question is, there's form everywhere.
I like the fact that kalimantan McGehee, or sending distance
oriented horses into this race or dipping their toe into the
water. When I spoke to both of them,
you kind of got the feeling that if these horses ran, well today,
maybe just maybe they would be tempted to enter the Preakness
if so inclined. I don't know if I had a really
tough time with the with this year's edition of the test, you
I kind of like both of Britney's were horses, Prince of Jericho.
I don't like this post position for him, but I didn't think he
got a very good trip last time out when he was the beaten
favored by coffee with Chris. And I like that, they gave him
time in between that race and this one, his last race.
He was sort of in and among horses on the backstretch.
She's must have swung 6 wide turning into that long stretch
of the one-mile run and he was chugging to finish.
Second, he's a course, it's going to have to work out a trip
but I know Brittany's little worried about a mile and an
eighth but he just seems like a consistent faster.
And I think circling the drain is a horse.
That is still unexposed you man. Okay, last time out.
It was his first time stepping up in class.
I feel this source is going to be making a late run, and I
think he might be a better price than Prince of Jericho.
Okay. Another for you drunk.
Well, one thing I think that that's interesting is after
coffee with Chris finished. Second in the fiber terms, John
Salzman jr. And his ownership team, some of
them. I don't him to the triple crown
and John Salzman like is data for.
Him is a very pragmatic guy. Like he's not going to take
crazy shots like he wasn't gonna put coffee with Chris, in the
wood. Stick you go finish the food and
then go finish an 18 in the do be like, he's not going to run
it in this spot unless he thinks he can win and all winter long.
He had doubts about how far coffee with, Chris could go and
so far, he's answered every distance question.
He won going a 12-mile, then last time out, he was why it's
in which every step of the way in the private rooms still ran,
well got of a second behind. Hey strike, granted do not run
away. Well, in the Bluegrass but still
caught it with Chris who and pretty well.
And now he's drawn post one. So it's going to get a much
better trip. Say it in ground off the pace on
the inside. And here's another big.
Tell to me, Salinas and Jaime Rodriguez.
Team up a lot Jamie nests and nude to voices and Jamie
quadriga is the sticking with coffee with Chris.
So that's I think a big tell the coffee, okay.
The Chris couldn't be the goods here and if solvent, by the way,
if Salzman does press on the thickness with coffee with
Chris, he'd be just the second Maryland, verb in the past
decade to earn the fragrance over.
Nice. I like that.
But always mind being the other connecting a little really good.
I like that on top here for me to let go in the two turns.
Tried it in the withers didn't work.
I never hold it against horses when they don't run well on Long
Island. Dan you think that horse has a
chance here? I think, as a chance based on
his last speech figure certainly ran a very fast race of parks.
You also had just a candy trip, he went right to the lead, the
pace was not fast at all. He didn't change leads in the
stretch and while he did beat to next out winners, they're not
exactly secretary and Man O'War who he beat, he has good speed.
It'll be interesting to see where they Place him in the
early part of this rate personally.
And and I talked to John about About coffee with Christmas
morning. He's not going to take this hand
about strategy. I personally think they're going
from the inside posting or try to make the league with him on
90%. Now he's going to be sitting a
good trip up there and second distance won't be a problem but
make sure you get your price. I think 90% of married through
the second time. Lasix, for me as a nice angle
here, I think he responded. Well next time might like it
again here as well. And once again, folks, we have
to just a little Ending the card with a terrific race here at
Laurel made special a 52 Grand on the line here.
Highest level of Maiden special weight for three, four, and five
year olds going on mile on the turf.
We will see if we are still on the turf by the end of the day,
so something to watch their. I'm with you, man.
I hope they say unto for sure, but nice field of 700 horses.
He right. Well, sorry, they will run 11.
Depending on scratches and those things Dan, who do we land on
here, man? This is a nice field.
It is a nice field. I landed.
I'm a nine blamed rule maker who does at least have some Turf
form and some decent or form at Gulfstream Park, as taking a
step forward and his tutor phrases, the worsted beat him.
Last time I was a 125 shot trained by Chad Brown.
Who would have been the favorite in the Transylvania at
Keeneland? He was the morning line.
Favorite, he ended up being scratched.
I think that was a much better feel than the one he's facing
here. I think he'll run late coast
along for shooting McGehee and far as voice.
They've just been a superb combination down here in
Maryland, especially interfaces. Has look very logical as well.
Before you jump I like both of the to Dan mentioned along with
number, eight Hughes Leah, making his three-year-old debut
and as such getting first time like six grand.
Well and his first started around two turns on grass last
October showed speed held on finish.
Fourth, he's had a good steady work tab since mid mode and he's
definitely finale play. You think the other two are
vulnerable Is um here's me is, you know, it is Grand motion
kind of tipping. His hand here with a
first-timer, but he's booked a ventilator to ride him or job.
That's why I think it actually might be a little bit of a tip
that Toledo is right and I think it's a good sign.
Again, this is sort of a situation where in the pick
five, you're betting blind and the first time starters, unless
I just have to go with motions overall record with first time
Stars which is not very good, usually likes to give them a
racer to. So in that situation, I Probably
going to play against and he's probably going to blow me up.
But makes sense that sounds like everybody I've ever made in
horse racing quite well. A good day out at Maryland.
I don't know what the nickname is, so I'm not going to, I don't
know, maybe I should come up with one.
Put me on the marketing team. First racing, what are you
doing? Figure it out.
We're good enough. John tell everybody where they
could find your stuff. And what, what they look for
world. If we can find me at Maryland, T
be professional and find me at the off postally, if you're in
the area stopped by the moon, of course, Piper and end at
Education Center in Reisterstown and if you're a Steeplechase
raising and I hope arrows are not.
Watching the said, if you are using your computer, we're
having a panel on April 24th, celebrating the 100th
anniversary of the hell are the Elkwood Whole Food of
point-to-point, Chuck versus be. A great talk about
steeplechasing in mon, be sure to join us Monday.
April 24th, awesome. And John remember you have a
standing date with us the last of these Shows is actually at
Pimlico. I am very excited for the baby,
we're Beyond Live, on ESPN Louisville from 10 to noon and
I'm being told that other Affiliates around the country
are interested in that show because they're picking up our
derby show. And so Banks had it tuned in and
they'll be like, you know, I don't know what's going on, but
at least Sean's on the shelves. That's something boy.
It sounds great. All right.
All right, it will keep add an element here.
Not because I want to, but because the people like them,
and we'll talk about keenly, blame him.
I don't blame you. Well, yeah, I do.
Anyways. So we'll go to Keeneland as they
always do. Dan?
They have a grade one on the grass, if that's what they do
there. And so really cool, late part of
the card here, I love something that started to happen here in
Kentucky because of the historical racing machines.
We can have these listed steaks at a quarter million dollars and
above. I mean, Kentucky Downs, ran a
race last year. 7.2 million Dollars.
I think it was a listed Stakes is that it's in the universe,
you qualified for that one and and so yeah it's it's fun but I
love that they could do these things.
We didn't see that in this is a little off topic to I'm not
something that I planned a Scourge on the board and that I
plan to ask you about. But you know, the apple blossom
only draws four horses. What do you think happened
there? You know something, I don't
know. It's a million dollar race, and
I think they squeaking three. And they hustled one, Because
there's a no-hoper. It's not like there's this is a
year where there's a Zenyatta waiting for you to scare
everybody away. Secret oath is a very good
Philly. She can be had Clary, are is a
very good mayor. She could be had, where are the
horses, and what are they waiting for?
I can understand Nest, got a little bit of a late start back.
She's pointing for a race, like the Ogden Phipps at Belmont, but
for a million dollars with horses that can be beat, it's
not a good look. If you can't draw the, if you
can't draw at least Seth we watch gufo run a Bellman run.
A Kentucky announced two weeks later because there was a
million bucks on the line. I mean, so the candy do it,
right? And I think that's exactly
right, I guess. Up, short, these are Phillies
and mares. If you get third in this race,
the value of a broodmare potential just goes through the
roof. You're exactly.
Right? Yeah.
So dead disappointing, frankly and I ended up leaving Oaklawn
out of the show for that reason. Let's go ahead.
We'll go to, we'll go to, we'll go to.
Okay, we'll go to cumin, excuse me, do you mind talking about
the Giant's Causeway? I know it's not one of the
listed Stakes but it is race. Eight late in the card here.
I think. Okay, we had John Linda one last
week because we're talking Santa Anita Derby and all that he
does. The of course Thoroughbred LA
radio on the weekends. And he thought, Amy C was primed
to run a massive race before they washed out.
The end of that card on the grass.
You think there's any chance she transfers that form from
California to Keeneland? Or are you looking at someone
else here? I like her a lot.
I wish I could pinpoint somebody else, but I really think that
she has shown that sort of ability to be versatile with her
running style, but I love the way she kicks home.
I think that she's going to run a very, very good race and the
Giants cause I think this way. This is really tailor made for,
I think she. I think they're like, we talked
about tipping the hand, with some of the jockeys shipping,
who bear do in for this race is kind of tipping the hand.
Is it not? I think it's tipping the hand.
I think it's always nice to have, you know, obviously, you
know, the familiarity situation a lot going on, maybe at Santa
Anita this weekend. So it's easy to come to
Keeneland to ride for some big money.
But this is this race though, you know?
It contention one's fairly deep. I would bet her though.
I think I think she's the right one.
Do you think over, which is a fancy French word for book is in
this race for Chris block? Just wins?
Does that matter and an element's handicapping or just
Class Matter more than that? I think it depends on how you
win. Do you win fast to do?
You win with a good trip? Or do you win by overcoming how
visually impressive are you? I like the fact obviously with
that. You win much better than a 1430
shot. I'm a big fan of Chris block.
I've never been a big fan of Hoover God, okay, fair enough.
All right, so let's move on to a different race than race line is
the great three Lexington. This is the derby preps race.
That's not really Derby prep race but it's Churchill like
extending here, you could have some points, the second weekend
of your meet, my oldest take seats on the dirt for
three-year-olds, obviously. And then a 400k on the line
here. I think a cool field actually
considering what this race is Dan.
I landed on, I landed on demolition Duke here on top
actually routing for the second time, broke his Maiden going six
furlongs. The first time gets Pratt here,
Brad Cox brings them up. Improved on the speed.
Figure going the two turns, I think there's a chance that he
actually improves again and wins.
Where would you land in this race?
This is a race where I think I got a spread.
I mean you look at it, you're nothing but potential potential
potential potential and then you have the one horse that might
get enough points to get into the Derby.
I guess of disarm wins this race.
You might sneak into the Derby, I liked his race in the
Louisiana Derby. If you go back there, Kings
Barnes, just walks on the lead, disarm.
Sort of held up in behind horses there.
No paste for him to run at and he comes with a run at the end
at least to finish second. He can step.
I think that he's the class of the field and at the price, he
is on the morning line. He's interesting Arabian lion.
What is he doing in this race that that to me makes him
interesting? He has been awful in his last
two for backward. Part of me, is saying he's just
a sprinter. My Lord, he wants no part of
this backward saying, the way he's been training.
I want to give him a chance and I think there's a possibility.
They're just gonna send him from the gate from postal open, try
to make the lead and take advantage of the short stretch.
I would not take a penny of the 722 or less, but if somehow
Arabian lion drifts up a little bit, I would use him.
I think demolition do some very interesting horse.
I think first mission is very interesting and Empire Strikes.
Fast is very lightly race, but look, the horse he beat last
time out that goes back and got beat what ahead in the wood
Memorial while still amazing. Yeah, so it's yeah, it's a
pleasure, right another. We thought maybe Ledger would
have another another deer few starter out of the wood.
It's know, it's interesting to the race, really sets up to be
kind of a wide-open one. It's interesting to.
I understand. Why is it on, didn't move the
horse, but really lined actually strikes me as a perfect horse
for the Pate mileage on Derby Day.
That's what I was thinking, which is why?
Yeah. Christ, he's here.
There are plenty of opportunities.
Unless, of course baffert, you know, you know, they can't train
at Churchill Downs and they decided we're not going to move
him but I don't know. I think that the source is for
internal I think I'd get a mile of a 16th with the short stretch
with the right trip. If you believe the speed figure
from his last race, the race in, which he ran last.
In the all Bob baffert's, take that they ran in Southern
California. Human a 92, that's probably the
fastest buyer coming into this race.
I'm not sure, I believe the number, but if it's true, all of
a sudden, he's a contender and I love playing speed horses, but
not at 1:53, if he drifts to five to six to one.
He's a lot more interesting to me.
I think this arm is going to run a very good race.
Yeah, I have four horses in here.
Disarm is certainly one of them. I always include horses like
Arabian line because of Bedford beats me.
I feel stupid. So that's essentially
essentially what I have to do it.
Some of these races, the last race dad and I are going to talk
about and then I want to get your thoughts on.
Marty McGee before we sign off tonight last race we're going to
talk about is I think one of the absolute jewels of this weekend
the Jenny Wiley grade 16 hundred thousand dollars are going to
Milan a 16th on the turf course at Keeneland one of the cool
courses frankly in all of North American Racing is for Phil.
He's a foreign up Dan It's rare that that we get a race like
this. I was we're talking about this
on my radio show today and I think I understand why in
Italian is a favorite. I think 725 is not a good number
now against this field. No, it's not like the Apple
Blossom Field. This is extremely strong field
and I was a great one field. Yes, we're racing fan to watch
this one and take part because it Italian very good.
There's no doubt and she might be lose speed and she's the
fastest horse on paper. But you've got horses in here
that can certainly up a queen goddess.
Just won the Pegasus a World Cup Filly and mare Turf most very,
very consistent. I'm not sure we've seen her best
yet. I think that with the Moonlight
has the potential to be a good horse.
If they keep her here this year and that's probably where I'm
going. I hate the 522.
I wish she drifts. I don't know if she will because
I don't think Charlie Appleby anything.
You trains drifts the way he's been winning in North America
about horses, but he is the recency advantage over in
Italian, The Source has two starts in Dubai.
Not against good Fields, but Workman like victories.
I think we'll see a progression and I think we'll see her.
Maybe stretch out to longer races as the year progresses in
Italian. Sure she's the worst to be, but
she is not unbeatable against this Quality quality field horse
that I like here. Dan, actually that's a longer
number speak of the devil. The four horse here, Chad, Brown
and flavian. I think if she runs runs her
race like she did last year, first time out in that.
Distaff, mile at. Churchill Downs.
If she runs that Ray, she can win this race.
And so, that's why I think it's a trade one.
Yeah. Yeah.
She's smoked in Italian that day at Churchill Downs.
She absolutely smoked or look like the Filly that wouldn't be
an Italian. At the end of year was going to
be speak of the devil, the move she made on the far, turn the
way she swept by everybody. You know, it left your jaws
dropped and then what happened? She was terrible in the just a
game. She got hurt.
She goes to the sidelines and if you want to give her the layoff
excuse last time, go right ahead, especially at the price.
She is on the morning line. Great odds.
She, she just didn't do any running.
So it's fair to question. Soon, whether she can still
step, but boy, if she can run back to that Churchill race,
that was an extremely exciting performance.
This is what Chad Brown does the best speak.
Speaking of speak to speak of the devil, second off, the lay
off about a month month and a half type of layoffs, going on
the turf and frayed it exactly in grade 6, all the 23 percent
or better and in fact, second off the layoff, he hits it 30
Believable. And so, there you go.
Hey, I'm practically. Just think about this for a
second. You've got a Breeders Cup.
Winner is 20 to 1:00 in the morning Line, Pizza Bianca when
the juvenile fillies Turf and only one 120 2 1 in the morning
line. You got a horse like white
Frost, which is shows up each and every time, and it's going
to be a big price. This is a really, really good
race. Tune it.
I mean skill is one of the Sands Point last year, and she's in
this race and she's 1125 Point has That's why it's a great
show. We like to do our own grades of
the races. This is a grade 1 plus.
I mean I don't know how to great.
It's great it's awesome and so that I'm that I'm mad that in
Italian a horse of its it Italians quality with I ratibor
2725, is it speaks to how good this field really is before you
get out of here, Dan? I um, so last fall we found out
a Breeders Cup that Mike and I had been welcomed into the
national Turf writers and broadcasters.
We were the first Podcast Bros to get into the NT.
W AV one of the voices in the room that spoke up with us for
us is a guy named Marty McGee and Marty has decided to step
away from drf after was 1992 it, drf.
But it's Jennifer just a tariff or 50th consecutive Derby this
year which is incredible to believe a career that doesn't
need a lot of explanation but talk about Marty you you work in
an interesting place because It's you have you have a company
of people all over this country culturally, very different
places. It's a cool thing.
You got a guy like Jay print, menu.
Got you, you got a guy like Granite.
You got the guys in South Florida, you got.
And then you got Marty in the middle.
And, and I've got to know him personally, which has been
really nice. Talk about Marty McGee.
What he? What?
He brought to Europe. Well, I brought the whole
package didn't I mean, Not only was he a great writer and if you
actually read some of these, an eclipse award-winning writer his
some of his stories are just wonderfully.
Crafted not only is Ace reporter.
It doesn't matter what circuit you put Marty and whether it's
Kentucky, whether it's down at Gulfstream to help out Mike
Wells during the championship season.
Whether he's covering Tampa Bay Downs and he's a fantastic
handicapper. You see this picks an analysis
in the paper as well. Marty it's great that I get to
run into him once in a while and some of these big events
probably what I'll remember most was Marty and I might have been
the only two horse racing Professionals in New York, the
day American pharoah won the Triple Crown that was not At the
racetrack, we were in the drf studios doing Dr. A live show
that day covering the races. And when American pharoah one,
we just looked at each other and we realize there was a little
bit of a bomb there, but it didn't have to be, we should
write my moment like that is, I was at the covid Derby, its
2020. And I took the selfie, I'd snuck
in a bottle of mint julep with me, just to have a mint julep at
the Derby, right? So I'm holding it, I got the
selfie going and then I took the picture and I looked behind me
in there were Thousand empty seats on a 75 degree day.
In Louisville, a minute to post in the Kentucky Derby.
And I thought I'm glad I have the story but I hope I never do
this again. Yes.
Well, I'm with you 100% And it hurt a little bit more because I
think we both like frosted that day, that would hurt.
I hear you that that would hurt the go out front.
Stay out front of American pharoah was a Gronkowski ran
second that day first time user. All right.
Well, where do people find you? I'm sure you got a ton of stuff.
Ready for the test. Yet off trf, underscored an
Element on Twitter. Please, please.
Please head on over to the Daily Racing Form YouTube channel
because we'll be covering all the graded stakes races all week
long, we got various handicappers and analysts.
And so, if you want some handicapping analysis and front
of your PPS, have a beverage in a cup of coffee and, and you
can't follow. That's a lot of fun on The Daily
Racing Form YouTube channel. As we always encourage you to do
on this show, get all of the information you can.
That's how you can make the best.
Most informed decision. Someone might say something that
you hadn't thought about in a race Dan did that to me twice
today, actually on the lauro card and so that's why I like
doing the show. But yeah, their videos are
considerably more professional and you don't have to see my
chimney in any of them. So they realized, I appreciate
you very much. I lying to the audience, so
we're let Dan get out of here. I will see you on black-eyed.
Susan day, I'm sure we'll run into each other on break this
day as well. Ah but look forward to that,
we're on 10 to noon Eastern, just an FYI.
So if you need to plan your day on that Friday, just let me know
when you want to jump on, we'll be ready.
I'm asking for the auxiliary Press Box and I know, you know
what that is at Pimlico. My favorite room in horse racing
world, it is the least renovated room in horse racing and it
overlooks, the stakes Barn. It is one of the best spots in
horse racing. One of my favorite spots and the
fans they've spoken. They loved an element, I don't
but we'll keep his Coastal elitism on the show.
We'll talk. Them are black-eyed.
Susan Day, Dad really appreciate it.
Thanks, as always. It's always a pleasure.
Yeah, good stuff, right? Thanks Tim.
All right, Zach get up here, talk to you gentlemen, Daily
Racing Form, get him out of here.
Is that get about here? Oh, thanks Dan.
All right, so Louis we've talked about this on the show before.
Yeah. But which race has the most
Derby prep. Race has the most Derby winners
that came out of it. I've always thought it was the
Florida Derby is the Florida Derby.
With very close second and Anita Derby, I assume.
No. Okay.
What's the second? The second is, the woods
Memorial. Oh, yeah, right.
It just recently, it has it been?
That's why it's been so stunning is usually the New York Runners
are so good. That's right.
And you always great trainers, you got Chad Brown, you got Todd
Pletcher, like New York, dudes, and it just hasn't been
translated yet for some reason. 24, Florida, Derby, winners have
gone on to win the Kentucky Derby and 23 Woods Memorial
winners have gone on to win. That means the Florida Derby
recently passed the wood, then because there's a bit of wood
Memorial winner since 2000 with who said she Pegasus and so,
yeah. Yeah, that's a that's a stunning
number by the way. Santa Anita only has 17 and I
say only like that's a small number that's massively recent
stop because the bathroom. Yeah, yep.
So no interesting. Interesting stuff, good stuff.
And and by the way, Martin began, just wanted to say, you
know, I know we've talked about on the show.
I've definitely talked about it. We've had Marty on my ESPN
little show. Um, This podcast thing man.
It's a different thing because a guy like like element for
example, There's such so polished.
It's so professional. It's so everything but he comes
on the show and he knows that we're not like we're goofing
around. We're having fun.
I'm drinking bourbon like whatever.
Right. But like 100% but I also can say
things like yeah we know that SEO is a good predictor for who
ain't winnin the damn brightness you know like that kind of thing
and so it's phone. It's it's own thing.
I've totally forgotten by the way, we're sponsor by Green
Sheet racing by sequence in the for in the in the in the sheet
this weekend is Keeneland, the late sequence at Keeneland
including the Lexington and the Jenny Wiley.
So if you want to check that out, make sure green cherries,
inc.com. Let's get those digital numbers
up. If you're a little bit, of
course, or many Florida, tons of spots in Florida, go get the
sheet at your local shop. Tons of racetracks, tons of
insight of tracks are on the country, gets ready for the
weekend as well. I um you Marty Mickey This
podcast thing, and it's fun that we get.
I mean, sure of a an Illman and, you know, these guys who have
done very serious traditional spots, Tim Wilkinson up in
Albany guys, that aren't is in the range of horse racing
coverage, right? Like, from, back in the days
where the only place you could get your coverage was a
newspaper newspaper, correct? Yeah.
And so sure from the only times he gave me a shot as a writer
appreciated. That of course, I loved it.
I hate that the newsletter went away.
It was one of the best things about my Monday's.
Um, but then you, you know guys like Illman guys like like Marty
guys like like Tim who Simply put like they get, they get it,
it's interesting, they're in it and they get it that the next
wave is this where it's just anyone can be on the platform
and as long, as long as it's a, it's a good contribution.
To the conversation that that it's worth it's worth being part
of. And I appreciate the people
consider us to be that because that's what Marty did for us.
I was told that of the people of the people nominated last year
that ours was the fastest because Marty was like, yep.
And I guess the quote was those guys belong and because of whom
are T is and Dan just talked about because of whom are Marty
is there wasn't really a discussion.
It was just if Marty says. So then we're going to trust him
and that's awesome. And I appreciate it.
I mean it I've I've done this talk like five times because I
mean it's so much I got to say it's a party when he came on
with us on ESPN 680, which is great.
And and so it's it's cool that people start to recognize this
platform and I want to say if and type in TWA be people who
are more tender than me. I don't feel like I can nominate
people need yet if you have a podcast out there.
And, you know, it's guys that show up every week, and really
do the work or gals are show up every week.
I'm sorry. I shouldn't just say, guys, meet
anyone who shows up every week, it does the job, and you think
that they're really contributing to the sport?
They really pay attention. That's who we want voting for
the eclipse Awards. We want the people that are
paying attention that watch every weekend.
They're excited about the Jenny Wiley.
Write that kind of stuff. That's who we want in our sport,
making the decisions about who the best.
The best horses, the strainers, best owners the best breeders
Etc. And so, you know, Kylie job
classic is down in the National top fighters and I get it.
Uh, he's website guy and he works for a Breeders
Association, so maybe he's a little too tight in.
But those are the kinds of guys to pay attention, man.
In, you know, he said something last month.
I get, this is the only sad part about this time of year is that
turquoise ending? Like, you don't like that.
You guys barely works of Maryland but it's obviously
paying attention, right? So that's a cool, that's a cool
thing as well. So I just wanted to say that,
you know, about Marty McGee. I mentioned, Jenny research
earlier in the show for the final fractions Theory.
Jenny wrote a letter for me to be in the national tour of
writers and broadcasters. Dani Reese was the first woman
to ever be the turf writer The Courier-Journal here in
Louisville, she did it for a very long time.
She's been, she's super prolific.
I mean, Jenny is just one of those people.
And so I got to thank her as well.
I mentioned to welcome an up at the Albany Times Union.
He's one of those guys that I, I really look up to he wrote a
letter for me too. So to print journalist wrote
letters for me and the guy at the drf went to bat for me, and
that's just cool, and I appreciate it and I don't take
it for granted. So I don't want people to ever
think that I do. We need to get out of here.
I will not be at Keeneland this weekend.
Zach I have a daddy-daughter dance for the first time.
Yes, these are things that you will not get to do unless one of
your son's is they offer me and Daddy Sundance, I'll take it.
I get it though. I might not get a slow dance
dancing and like drinking, right?
It might not be a slow dance. We might want my.
Yeah, it's a fun dance starts. So good stuff.
We'll be back next week, we'll be talking or Keeneland because
that's what's going this time of year.
I think, by next week, we're gonna have a really good idea of
who at least 18 of our starters, are for the Derby.
So I think we're gonna have a good sense of that.
I'm hoping, we'll have a nice big announcement next week, as
well for the show. But if you are not aware, I am
going to be in some form face shape or fashion at Derby or
excuse me at Churchill Downs. Six days of Derby week, Monday
through Saturday. You can listen to me 10 to noon
every single day Monday through Thursday, on my normal ESPN show
at ESPN little.com. You can also stream us anywhere
in the world if you want to and then on Friday, we are tdd.
That's the only day that I don't know.
Our schedule Derby day will have a three hour show streamable
anywhere in the world, ESPN Louisville.com.
And make sure you check us out there and you can listen to us.
We have a text line so you can interact with the show.
It's very fun and we'll make sure that we have that available
as well. Like I mentioned about the Shows
and on the show sorry I was on the show and on the site we're
going to list all the ESPN Affiliates.
That pickup is Serene Louis Derby coverage.
So yeah, for sure. That's right.
Yep. And it'll be a, it'll be a horse
racing, happy hour takeover vessel and Louis.
So, Mike will be joining us all six days as well, which is
awesome. You'll get Dan Issel all Six
Days On Track. He's coming in from from Denver
as well. Once again, I have to get a
credential for danis will because he's the cheapest person
I know and we'll be happy. Marilyn, she knows, you'll get,
you'll get Mike and me black-eyed, Susan, day, 10 to
noon. You'll also get Dan, he'll be
doing a broadcast for Denver and then on Saturday, it's TBD as to
what we're doing on, pick this day, my senses will do like an
11 to 12 showed Zach from that auxiliary Press Room in the back
of on ready, unrenovated, Pimlico Racecourse, deep within
the bowels, one of my favorite places in the world.
I think the tables are probably a couple years older than my
dad. I believe that after being him
ago, several times, the best part about do to show biblical
those you get done at noon and then there's just just they
bring out the plastic totes then they use them as coolers and
it's just Heineken cans. I don't know why maybe it's for
like maybe it's the international media, I don't
know. But we just crushed Heineken the
rest of the chase. It's just like Baltimore sniper
squad on the roof Heineken and then us getting done at noon
just crushing Heineken like I don't care either way Reverend
like arguably the best in filled in all of horse racing at
Pimlico. You can't beat it, they call it
free this for me something man, it's coming.
It's coming Bruno Mars. No it's gonna be ridiculous.
Okay, you will see Mike Lewis and I doing a video of Bruno
Mars. Playing at freakness.
I'm not saying what location will be, but we will all the
roof. Baby, I'm we taken from the
roof. We got a clear view of this of
the set for the room. For sure, we'll be right there
at the front of the stage. I'm not giving it away.
Okay, got it. Well, I think we should just
have Bruno metsu so I forget his name.
I think his name is Jean GE any I think is Gene like Gina
Rodriguez, our Gene Sanchez or something.
Anyway, I got mad at him once because I thought he was trying
to rip off Jamiroquai. So I was not happy about that.
As a kid, I grew up in the 90s. Very disappointed with the
ripping off. Would you be required for the
overuse of that things with them?

My name is Leah vo. He Zach producer Zack.
We will see you next week on the horse racing.
Happy hour. It's been an hour.
So we should probably get out of here, a tab.
Mike, we'll see you next week. Thanks to Daniel and John Kasich
at their offer, John Kasich, and at drf ill.
Women for for Dan, as well dance.
I must follow for me, especially if you care about anything,
Mid-Atlantic Parks, getting out of Penn National, get into
anything. Come with coal or oil or when
they go up to Timonium for the races there as well, I Zack, I
have to say, One of the first one of the first cool things is
a medium ever that I got to do medium ever.
As podcast Pro outside outside of Kentucky, was cover the
Preakness and getting to do this series.
With these guys was this our third show, did we do three full
shows of those? Yes, I think it's been really
fun. We've had really positive
responses on Twitter and different places.
And so, if you live somewhere that has a series like this, if
you live in Indiana, if you live in Iowa, if you live in Ohio,
man fall in love with your own series fall in love with your
local. Tracks.
I think it's such a cool thing. I love the tradition in
Maryland. I put it up there with, with
anybody in the country, frankly, but you could do this a
Gulfstream. If you're in South Florida, you
can do this in New York with all the prep races in New York.
And so if you're in those places and Orleans, for sure, you
that's a great example. Of course in l.a., right?
It was in Anita and with a low Sal and all that go ahead and
fall in love with those places because There's a method to the
madness. Believe it or not with horse
racing. It feels like it's disjointed
sometimes but I mean watching watching Maryland, build those
races six Furlong seven, furlongs a mile for the ladies,
they go Molitor 16th, Louisville City, mrs.
Weekend, it's just cool to watch the progression.
Watch the horses grow up. They grow up in right in front
of you. It's three-year-olds.
That's a really fun part about horse racing as well.
The jetty while he's great at killing this weekend, that's a
bunch of great horses, but they're all four five and six
and whatever and they've been at it and you know, everything
about them watching a horse will grow up in these races in these
preparations. This is different in its
Special. So make sure that you turn into
that. Let's play the music.
Zac will get out of here. We'll try to do better next
week. I'm Lou Ruvo.
This has been the horse racing. Happy are
doors and
