Well, the music is gone. Just just like that.
What happened? It just shut off, mic and Louis
horse racing. Happy hour.
What's up? Hey, man.
Our boy. Zack is back.
We missed him back the pig is As in it isn't the a draft night.
So we do have will get the lot of that pic is in, you know,
Zack pop on real quick. We need to know about the Disney
Experience. How was the Disney experience
with Zach took wife, three kids in a camper drove from Texas to
Orlando go. We went to Gulf Shores.
That was amazing like all short. So it's I told Louis this and it
is. It is sacrilegious to most It's
but Universal Studios is better than Disney.
What's that Universal Studios is better than Disney.
Oh, you like little Harry Potter World.
All right. And Simpsons.
And yeah, Transformers and Spider-Man is there.
And did you get a wind? We did.
Yep, you get all this stuff and diagonally.
We did not do that. No, but I am Slytherin Hoechlin
read any of it and I'm definitely slowed during your
death. We went so Disney.
I Covered is Walt Disney, bought way too much property, and they
decided to fill it with stores with one or two rides in between
the stores. Can I just give my greatest
piece of parenting advice that I've ever is?
Do we took the kids to Disney and, you know, that Nina was
probably. I don't know.
First grade is they were like six in 374 in that range, right?
So we told them, we said, hey, you can buy whatever you want.
Here's to here's a hundred dollar gift card each Once you
spend it, it's gone. But you can buy whatever you
want with it. Okay.
And they assist and advise so far, this is a story but keep
right, but the invited they didn't ask for anything.
Like they were the last day with their gift card, like holding
onto it like, you know, it's because you're going to get, if
you don't do something like that, you're going to get beat
up every second like, oh can I get this kind of get that?
It's like, yeah, you can get that.
You got your car and then they were really starting to think
like should I spend my might get caught on this out of it was the
it is the way to go with with Disney.
Shirt. And, you know, they look, they
got to make their own decision, it was like, oh great, yeah.
Want to set up a show tonight? I mean, we're gonna have a good
show. We had a great show last week
without sack and so it's going to be pretty good show here was
that we got lucky last week so if you missed last week's show
we go ahead and have Jen antonucci honest.
She's great Jenna antonucci. Hey oh hey, we go back to that
part of the world this week with our guy Jerry Mac.
Just wait till you meet Jerry Mac.
Going back to the east coast, going back to Jersey as we did
it. Mom.
If last week, hey, how did the have that handicapping for that?
You killed it? You hit your, you had a nice
nice ticket healthy way that pick for.
You would have what? What?
250 bucks. Something like that.
Was it? Yes.
Thats not bad. Do it was this is that last
race? Was the one where you going to
kind of push first on the, on the United Nations prep and I
was like, yeah, I think you can look outside.
I think the 5 and the 6 here, you know, pickles and you know
whatever else and you were like that.
It's tribute. Then he's going to win like what
are we doing? And the tribute been faded and I
was like, oh we're going to make a couple huh.
I don't think I was on tributing.
I just didn't think I like your horse and then when we did the
show you did with the pickle. Yes.
When we did the ESPN show the next day.
I kind of like, you know what, I can start to see where you're
kind of coming in and how do you commandeering do you actually
get to see Theresa lost by three lectures?
Okay, yeah not bad. Finished X attribute.
All right. Hey so it is.
We had Zach back. We got we got the NBA draft
going on because it is one of I do like NBA draft for whatever
reason, your little billion where the number one.
Yeah. For college basketball and all
that kind of stuff. And we were going to have like
you said, Jerry, Mac? Come on.
We got a letter Reveille. Potentially coming on talk, a
little about it even. I mean, like, didn't magically
really hope? That's pretty big to feel strain
rates Clara Valley. He'll be back in the as the 825
favorite of the Ohio Derby. Which is where we're going for
Haiti camping this week. By the way, if you're
interested, Dan Issel, and I will have the Cleveland Plain
Dealer. Stir freighter on tomorrow.
How about that? Why do they call it?
This'll down instead of fissile downs.
That's what I want to know. Oh, that's good.
That's the question. That's what America wants to
know like everyone else is Churchill's a year.
They ready? Ohio?
No. It's like, the year, after the
Kentucky Derby, it's that old. Thank you.
You do get that the word is thistledown, right?
Yeah, filters, actually is all one word.
Yes, right. But usually like, if you're
talking about like to make it part of a racetrack, you'd be
like this will Downs. Okay, but the word is this one
thing this will downtown's has exact point I am.
Yeah, that's why I would just sound for real.
It's going down for real. Do we get dinged on that YouTube
yet? Right, it's a chance.
All right, let's before we get to the replays of what happened.
Silt and Monmouth, we have a plenty of time.
I want to talk a little bit about who's your philly?
Coming up with the big performance, because who's your
Filly? Just didn't go to the Pea Patch
in beat wet paint. I mean, who's your Filly
destroyed wet paint? And we talked about it.
I was to get out front staff for a track on the dirt.
By the way, it would it 100% is but we've been, you know, we
thought who's your Filly ran better when we saw her and
Pimlico, and I agree with that. And then now, like just, you
know, are we going to start to get the Hoosier Philly that we
thought we were going to get? And, you know, can she I think
the hope with her if you're a fan is she runs at Churchill in
September and in November, right?
Okay. Yeah.
Maybe with Keeneland between if she's just better and in
Kentucky, I don't know. But it Has to be that she is
better here than she is really her.
Hiccups are what in New Orleans, right?
Yeah. So if she just doesn't like New
Orleans, she ran well enough, it felt like I was.
So you're saying, you're saying no to the distaff for her.
Yeah, I'm saying no to that. Okay, I don't think she's there.
I don't know if any of these three year olds of their
interesting pretty mischievous. She can show that she is.
Okay. She has a chance at the Oaks and
the CC a0 X and then, in the, in the Alabama, for sure.
All right, let's go to the pegs Stakes where yes, all Kings
Barnes return here after the Derby.
He finishes second and earns a spot in the Haskell.
Let's take a look at this. It's subrogate went 111 and 4/4
3/4 of a mile and subrogated. Kings Barn, their Her to
shoulder at the top of the stretch Kings.
Barnes is trying to push on by, and now has put a neck in front
subrogate. Us Barry game to the inside.
How great is they just trying to re rally at salute?
The stars on the grandstand side, Kingsbury just having to
work salute, the stars with a huge effort, Kings, barred
salute, the Stars Kings board. Salute, the Stars tank smart,
salute, the Stars, okay? We had a lot of besmirch meant
about Kings Barnes his time in Louisiana Derby, right?
Okay, his Pace. Yes, we just saw a closer win
when the opening fraction was 23:7, right?
That's a slow pace for a closer to come in and be able to take
that win, right? Yeah, I think everything all the
time about genes Barnes is legit.
All of its legit. He got a perfect trip.
Yes. Let the Stars had all kinds of
trouble and still picked off that race and is now an absolute
problem in the Haskell. Nobody especially if there's a
faster Pace than that, if there's any more to run into
than that, oh my goodness. Enos.
Yes. Brad Cox picking another good
spot here. By the way, was listed wrong in
some of the resources I saw that he ran on Turf last time.
Actually, it was taken off Turf. Last time out taken off at
Churchill. Still a good track but church
has a good track one. The water over my eyelid and it
turns back around at Mom and does the exact same thing with
that horse started coming and I thought this might help the pick
for a little horse gets up and he did we played to the first
leg of that was one of course we get Gary West Gary.
Mary West the owner there Brad Cox a trainer.
Regarding really good for the West.
I don't know that they've ever had its.
The little guys, thanks, again, it's a little guys, with I
really need that healthy. Yeah, and so, yeah, we, you
know, Brad Cox, I think this could be the summer, you know,
obviously black oxide, great Derby Runners.
But he's gonna have these late bloomers to, I mean, we might
see another one. It's on how their yeah.
He's got a chance, he's gonna have a chance.
Maybe always get a stable horses at the end.
Absolutely, no question. We don't know who or words that
you could be, you know, maybe he runs this horseback, you know,
he goes for that. Little Midwest triple crown that
we've been trying to get them to start or if he likes this you
know it's a salute the Stars, right?
Okay. Maybe salute, the stars comes
back because we still have two full weeks here.
Sure. He runs in the inning, I don't
know, they think he's fit. Who knows through you through?
He's not so ridiculous. All right, well, so that was
salute the Stars winning that for Brad Cox.
You know, we'll see if there's enough space for him to take
down the Haskell. All right, Zach, so we're going
to go to our next replay. Which is consumer spending.
When the Eatontown, the slow pace, they went one 13 .50,
Vergara at the top of the lane has got the lead Gina Romantica.
Now, Sprint's after her at the realest, surprisingly looking
for that cement consumer spending for across the course,
Burger has tried to get it out for a final Furlong consumer
spending to the outside, Vergara is game, but consumer spending
is best consumer spending Wednesday Eatontown.
Surprisingly up for A second then came for Gaara for.
All right. Zach, you were not here last
week but I know you enjoy Family Guy.
Can you name the track announcer at?
Monmouth, I tried to give you as much of a hint as possible.
His name is Chris Griffin. How about that also close races?
Of course at Aqueduct. I was I was on YouTube so I
didn't get the chance to click in, but yes, it's very
excitable. I like Chris, by the way.
The only thing I said before that.
Was the Eatontown feeds to. Oh gosh, what is it?
The Matchmaker Matchmaker. Thank you.
And Chad Browns, won five of the last six matchmakers consumer
spending trade by Champ. Crowd seemed to be a good choice
here as well. So we got away again from Gina
Romantica who I think forth and I think that was more.
Just get her legs underneath her.
Get ready for the magic herb. Yeah, probably I think we'll see
you again next month but consumer spending look really,
really good. That's the style that definitely
can win that race again, next month and the favorite went off
at surprisingly. Surprising was the favorite.
We had surprisingly, in our in, we had three horses in that race
or God. Whose what's the guy's name?
We have four Mama's last week while not for you.
I think Brian? Yeah, he came out.
He was surprisingly, that was his pick and that horse.
Had to make a move next to the rail and didn't want to do it.
Did you notice that? Yep, got up there.
The lane was there in the horse went, I don't know.
And so we were covered both ways on our ticket.
But had that horse surprisingly frankly, because under Paco
Lopez, you would have assumed that he would have gotten that
horse. Just to work out on Saturday.
So that was consumer spending for with, say me, Camacho aboard
again, Chad, Brown is the trainer taking down that and
we'll get that start in the Matchmaker.
So yeah, you know, how many guys do we watch?
Take their phone away from their girlfriend tonight?
Take their phone away from their girlfriend will listen.
None of these guys should be dumb enough to have their
girlfriends with their phone. Like if you are around this
culture, typically like Brandon Miller for sure.
He's got a couple girls, a great that.
Don't know about each other agree.
Or we got one girl, it doesn't know about the other ones and
the other girls know about the main one was got what the main
the wife? Yeah, they got, they got like,
there's like a pecking order that I used to know how it all
went. But yeah.
This is is that Jack Carla. No.
All right. There's no but he's gonna score
just as many Points in the advantage a car.
Have you watched the White Men Can't Jump remake tall.
I respect myself a little more than that.
Straight to Hulu, quite so well, Olivier Mac sauce.
All right, let me while we while we're waiting on Jerry Mac to
pop on which, you know, hopefully he'll pop on here any
second here which we got a couple minutes before he's
supposed to be on. We told me to clock.
Let me just kind of like preference.
I guess how we got connected with Jerry Mac?
Okay who Jerry Mac is? So, I think most people know
that I own a real estate office in Louisville.
Kentucky, we have, we have some extra office space.
I have, I definitely have more office space.
I need is that true Louis? You used to need all of it but
now you don't need. No.
I've never needed all the all of it yet.
Yeah because we got like almost 4,000 square feet fair enough.
So this house fits in his office twice.
Yeah almost we had so we working connected with this production
companies making a whore. Movie in Louisville that will
seven movies being made Louisville the summer, by the
way, by the way, that's what happens when you have decent
government incentives. That's right.
How about that? And the director of this movie
is a guy named Paul, Pompa and Paul Pompa.
The third is the director, Paul. Pompa jr.
Is as father who passed away was the original owner of big brown
and had had part of the ground when he won the Kentucky Derby.
Well, Jerry Mac is who work I've on and you know, we're covering
a lot of New York Racing right now.
A lot of Jersey racing right now and Jerry Mac is Paul pompous
racing manager, stable manager. So part of our 101 sequence
here, we're going to j-mac on level is a Jerry Mac has been in
this game for over 20 years and he's got all the stories.
I mean, this is the situation whenever Jerry gets on here that
we're just going to have to like, you know, drop a quarter
in there while the machine up and let him go.
And hopefully you guys are going to get some straight Jersey
stories. And and you go loved every
second of it. But yeah, that's it's weird.
How the, you know, we get hooked up with a movie company and make
it work and making horror films, and there's this Horse Racing
Connection. That's, you know, to, you know,
one of the greatest Derby, performer horses, horses of all
time. So I'm really interested to talk
to him about seahorses. I've been to almost, I didn't
think I did say yeah. Okay, just checking, I'm really
interested just to talk about, you know, how they got to, how
they got, big brown. The first place, the story
behind that they've also own. Country Grammar, before he was
trained by Bob baffert there. He'll talk about their strategy
that they had. Really, they weren't afraid to
sell the horse, right. And then the the horse that they
still have the breeding rights to is connect which, of course
mr. Whistle for the big dance.
Yeah, so that's what we got coming on here if Jerry gets on
the show. So we'll see you next see what
happens and maybe maybe doesn't know this is live and fucking
before we can talk to him, you ain't Do we get our naturally
stuff going on? How about you?
Don't worry about that. Yeah, you never know that.
J Max, we will have a couple four segments show very unusual
for us to have a foresight, which I will have Jerry.
I'm next for our hit her horse racing 101.
Then we'll have a Larry Reveille on just got confirmation from
him. Traitor of to Phil's, of course,
the favorite of the Ohio Derby, the grade 3, Ohio Derby, this
week and a half million bucks and that one about that in a
very serious field in the lady Jacqueline right before it as
well. So this is a very cool close to
the day. They're Interstate daydream
Zach. And I saw a couple years ago.
Oh, yeah, black-eyed, Susan. That's a great horse idyllic.
Oh, and then she won the came back.
Won the Indiana Oaks as well. And then of course, this year
came back, we saw her this year on 19th was break this day.
We see her when the DuPont. Yeah, so I had to miss you
valent laid out Vita, who are both in that field as well. 63
calibers in that field coming off, a really good run in the
Shawnee. Okay, ran right behind idiomatic
which is another one of Brad Cox.
Potential summer, absolute Blockbusters, and so bunch of
really good horses in that 11th. Race that the late double me as
far as quality. Very, very high-end in Cleveland
this weekend. Okay, yeah, there it is.
I mean, I don't know why you'd want to go Cleveland, but I
guess to go the harder B Because if, if you want to understand
Bone, Thugs and Harmony, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
How 40 ounces? Just tastes better in Cleveland,
you have to go to Cleveland to discover those.
We are all in agreement about How underrated Bone
Thugs-N-Harmony is? That's part.
Yeah, exactly. Are you on board with that?
Exactly. Are you still live in Columbus?
Ohio and Bizzy. Bone came into the local
Cheesecake Factory and I would hang out and drink with him.
That's right. That's right.
All right. We got our man.
Jerry Jerry. Mac is here.
So there's Jerry McLennan. Terry.
How's it going sir? Could you got Jimmy?
Yeah, me. Yeah, we got you.
Jerry. We got you.
So Jerry, I, he was kind of telling our listeners a little
bit about you. You want to play my opinion?
Yeah, let's we're going to do a little, we get this is our 101
segment. So we're going to play our
little read here real quick. What promise?
I promise? Okay?

All right, thanks to our friends at the Maryland.
Green Association for sponsoring this segment with Jerry Mac.
I Jerry I'm going to. You are officially your official
title for Pompa racing is the stable managers that correct?
Correct. All right so tell everyone and
this 101 segment we're just kind of educating a little bit.
What does the stable manager do that?
And then I want you to tell me specifically because you did a
little bit of everything for Pompa.
Yeah basically you know we started out very small, claiming
a couple horses, getting a little action going in like get
the bill. Yeah, Paul goes, let's expand.
He sent me down to OBS, my trainer.
And we bought a, you know, first to you already bought four
hundred thousand, which at the time I thought was a lot of
money and ended up being this Bianco, appeal in the winter to
stick race. So he started off on the right.
Right foot. So eventually we got a few more
horses and he had me he was running a trucking company at
the time, Paul. So he's like, he's know, he had
all kinds of stuff going on. He put me in charge of the
hordes of chicken with the train is making sure they're working
out looking at the condition books, even though we wanted to
train his really pick out the races but you know I would
always have a little hand under if there was a race coming up
and just a well-being in the horses.
It was like a whole team effort, you know?
So you had your basically liaison for Paul to the racing
world. Is that a good way of putting
it? I mean when he first got into
horse racing is you know through his father.
I used to hang out with his father who claimed the couple of
horses. He had a small stable at
Monmouth and he he asked me for my advice and then when Paul
like 1999 goes I want to get into horse racing and I said,
Paul 19.95 is in the people lose money and the other five
percent. Why He left, he said, let's go.
We're wild rice with, it was really wild.
So when you all purchase big brown, big brown with a
yearling. Is that correct?
Well, we got big bells it to evil still.
Okay. Right, I picked the horse out.
Because we own the, we claimed the horse and call stream, Snake
River Canyon for 80,000. Alright, so we get the horse.
As I trained with the time he liked the horse so we were
actually action guys. Those were running right back in
the same race, 80 the same owners we win the race easily in
the same on a claim, some back. So the mother I was right.
I was tracking all the horses I had.
I'd put the dams down in my book so every stone come up I
cross-reference and here's this this damn me in.
There's a horse in the film, you know what?
The dams, man? Because, all right, you guys,
let's start. Let's go forward, right?
So we sent our crew over there, guys.
Some kidding Brooke like the Farmer used.
They went over, they look them over.
They said looks pretty good. And we sent the veterinary Mike
chavannes. He came very high rating.
So he said I with a start bidding on but see how high it
goes. Like 180 it again so I support.
Don't go over. 200. I mean, you know, the horse
doesn't look like he's gonna get, you know, even get a good
amount of quarter. Forget it.
You know, and me and was a loaf of bread, the no meah meah.
So boom. We have big ground.
You know, it's just like the guys that his book said, the
horse look very good, you know, I bet City look very good.
So we kind of 4190. We get them back and he was
training, like awesome. And if I rental said this is one
of the best to you all's I've ever had in my life and the rest
was history after that. I mean, it was just incredible
ride. But that was a big.
If we hit that, we want a really big role at that time.
We had backseat weird. Mmm, she won.
Multiple great ones. I mean, we were hooked up with
the IH people at we sold big, ground to them.
We're buying horses with them. I mean, it was this the world
wind going on at the time. And you know, he was having so
much fun Paul. I mean he just My guy from an
investor. Anything and everything.
I know about horse racing, to be absorbed it all.
And then he had a passion that was unbelievable for the horses,
he just loved them, you know, so big round wins the Derby.
Are you there? What's the reaction?
Well, let me go back to the first race.
Okay. All right weekend.
All right. We're coming really intelligent
trainer, it's a pet. This guy could run.
I said, you know, you got them on Greer's he goes he could run
on Greer's their glass concrete. And so this is one of the best
for you also ever had. He said, tell Paul, come up here
and we're us. I said, okay, we're going to be
great. Go to the office.
Wait, picks me up. We drive up the now.
We're waiting around. We have another horse in the
race re-gift. It is it's only hook up a
picture a pic for so you know. So you know, at the beginning,
Edgar Prado is going to ride them.
Just retire, by the way. Yeah.
Anyway, We had to get a substitute jockey, we get Jeremy
Rose, which I do. We use top Marilyn Guy, you
know, I said, okay, whatever. So we go out into the paddock,
you get the one hole. This walking around, he's
walking around the tree, he rears up goes over backwards.
That ran over. He's trying to pull him down the
glooms. There I go, to Pat, I go to Paul
Paul, we have no chance here on the floor.
Because, all right. So, now down, I want to go
through the tunnel. Had told Jeremy, just hold on,
like, you see resources, like 15 to 1 at the time.
So Paul goes the window. He makes a nice bed.
I make a nice bet. And he goes out, they just dust
the field I guess. I've been knows his story and
Jerry, Ross, came back and he threw a couple of profanities
out of yours is the fiercest. Bang Clank.
My course, every road and I told Paul on the way home, I said the
phone's going to be ringing off the hook for now, we're really
be a new into the game is only in the game, like seven years.
He's had a course of maybe a Kentucky Derby time.
Type first time out two year old everybody wants one.
And sure enough the phone was ringing, like, crazy, we're
getting offers from all over the place.
We wanted to stay in Palm with the exact same guy.
He was, I don't want to sell the whole horse.
I want, you know, I want to have a piece of it.
So, couple of big guys out there, you don't like the
dollies, and the Dolphins they wanted to buy em for big money,
but couldn't get a piece and then we had this bloodstock
agent, we know Nick solution. So Working for our uh, at the
time, you know? And they had some big horses,
right? They called us up.
They go. We're going to meet, I'm going
to give you an offer. You can't refuse.
All right, so we're on the freeway and I'm listening post.
Listen, I'm sitting across from and the guy goes will give you
like four million is staying in for 25%.
I just put my thumb up in the air to pull.
You got to take that, you know, you know, stay in for 25% me.
Give you that kind of cash. I mean, you know, and sure
enough. Now they get them sent them over
to touch oh, Victor Cho and you know, it's a good me, a whole
change around. Now with all the Jackie's off,
they get intent to swarm all over item and I'm all pumped up.
I see this is like fantasy, you know?
I said, this is right before the Florida Derby.
Yeah, right before the Florida Derby, right?
I'll yeah, the Breeders Cup to you all Grace race so he had
major quarter crack problems, right?
So he gets a quarter crack right before the race.
The can't run them in that. Let's put them on the sidelines.
I'm on the sidelines and I wasn't too familiar.
Dick touch, all these Horsemen and I said, what's the story?
Let's lay him up, bring it back all scream and let's see how far
we get along well with Mabel make like the Travis or you know
that's cool whatever you if he wins you know you think he's
that good. Excellent.
So now funny story. I got to tell you I'm in Vegas
for the national handicapping tournament.
So I'm with all my buddies. The win and they got the
Kentucky Derby to bets. I'm rubbing my pocket.
I gotta eat thousand my pocket, right?
And I look up big Browns, 300 to 1, I told my friends.
What about your husband? The big brown eyes, I don't
think Ziva did train and I, you know, it's January, you know,
call up, I call up toucher. I'm in Vegas and I'm just
looking at this board for big round.
He's 300 to 1, he goes for what I said for the Dobby.
Because he's walking about shed row with no shoes on right now.
He goes, you know, if we get them ready for the summer, I'd
be happy. I don't even pretend dollars on.
I said, okay. All right, all of a sudden it's
February 6th and the government allowed to race and the grace
and I'm like, babe, what happened?
Because he just turned to call warning.
He started working tremendously but okay, so he's going to run
was a grass race. It's pouring rain.
It's coming down. You can't believe in the
morning. Eh has evolved, and they have
some partners and ringing. Paul got so, and we're gonna
have like a 10-way. Everybody's all over the country
and so we run them on the dirt. Listen to one of mine.
Anything as far as I heard from, you know, that Reynolds that we
can run on anything. And that's all said, yeah, I
think he's okay. And the first race he went by
like 15 and a half into the hole.
It wasn't a great allowance for you, but even one the way we're
looking at Florida Derby in the Florida Derby, he said he's just
want to 1x, you know, And then of course it gets post 12
whatever wanting post 12 deployed, it do we and I'm
saying if he wins this race he's a super horse and he won that
Race easily. Now we're going to go after be
I'm like everybody's a static, you know.
So Paul says family together, 27 people He flies us all out to
the derby. So I'm doing the numbers.
I'm at third graph guy and he's running like - tools as a
three-year-old if I can't believe, will numbers, sure.
And I said, I don't think he'd get PDF.
But let's see how to draw goes because we get down his three
numbers left. You pick your post?
So I ran those. I just take the 20 Charlie, I
couldn't believe he said that. I'll just take the 20.
No horse has ever won from the 20 hole.
So now we have to win consecutive races, you know,
2012 whole ago. Stream to the 20, Jolla
Churchill, and he pulled that off.
I said, I don't we might have a Triple Crown towards.
Yes, we are. This is like unbelievable.
And, of course, listen, the Belmont is just three races in
five weeks something to this happened, of course.
I mean there's always talk about that Winstrol thing, this that
horse just that they maybe just didn't have it, we don't know
nobody out of it. No but he came back, he won the
hassle, he won that Turf race. We want to run in the Breeders
Cup but he got the quarter cracks again.
So we did wasn't right for the horse recently.
I hated them and, you know, I go see him every year, when I go up
to Saratoga, I stopped at questworld all over padam ull.
A brownie comes running over. I mean, the horse is living a
nice life. Good.
I mean, that was just a blast. I could tell you what happened
after that, but we started breeding for him, but we had
101, big brown babies. For years and none of them were
really turning out to good, you know?
And then finally we're there to say, you know, all right, we
have to get out so more, that was a heartbreaking but we kept
the couple told me pick out three of them.
You like This hot study things like babies at the time and send
it in one other one to get into well but the sending and heart
study, but when I get half a million, you know, so he had a
couple decent horses. Yeah.
Dortmund for bad fit. Sure.
Nice one, huge horse. So how you put that on right now
you know that smoking hot brown. Anytime I see a big round or so
I could just got $20 on just sitting on the whole bit because
I love of the horse, you know. So Lily one of the hundred big
brown Offspring was puka, who is the mayor?
We're good magic. I really ready to get back in
with my mom. So the big brown mind wins the
Kentucky Derby this year as the damn sire.
I'll ask Jerry. Do you remember who was on dr.
Cal who finished second behind Big Brown when he broke his
maintenance are Toga. Whoo.
That's a tough one. That was that was a mod sauce
but I remember that. I will that get this horrible.
How about that cat? Saw the back of them and they
got to ride them up. I think that's pretty great.
Yeah. Yeah, not a bad change of paid
for him. He's like fantastic specimen.
If you have a see him up close so I'm telling you man.
But it was a right I loved it and you had a couple other good
ones. Come on.
You all High Country Grammar for a while before you all sold them
and bad for took them over. You also own connect and you'll
do you still does? The does the the state of Paul
because Paul passed away to do, they still own connect?
Yes, we go, 1 Paul, syndicated them.
Percent 10 percent of them so we still have, you know, for
breeding shares and cluster Syndicate, you know.
So that's been going, well, he's been putting out some nice run.
Is the other rat on Roll. Billy turned into a nice horse.
We've got the Philly hidden connection running this weekend.
You know, it's sporadic, correct.
He's only been here for You can turn it around at any time into
Mischief, he didn't start out with a bang either.
It's just the way it happens, you know, absolutely to wait, if
you look back at Apatosaurus three or four years, he wasn't
really too much with that and then it just clicked, you know?
It's a tough business reading, much stuff.
It in the bedding or racing horses.
Let me just Rattle and Roll. Hey, strike the Alice.
Look we watch out on the Oaks Trail this year hidden
connection of course, part of that group as well as Deputy
connect all kinds of things. So, no off to meet Christ.
She's got what 786 figure winners already?
So yeah, connects doing the thing that's great.
I mean, II followed, most of the ones that we still have like 12
out there, that pool bread. First link, You know, you know,
I don't love the guy and just say every time he has a filly
out there, Tom only has Granny's connection, she just won like
four or five in a row since the new up bread and he took it out
the mama, two weeks of had to go down to see the horse, she's
big, big, beautiful animal, right?
So she goes in a mom at the race.
He's running like he was 1X or 2x open and she just goes to the
lead, never stops. She won five in a row wire to
wire. We had the Mad Granny's drink
celinda rice, she ran off the screen that you got a little
injury that we, you know, we do want to take a chance, we will
use it for breathing, so we break connect to her, and it got
this grains connection, I mean, fast Filly.
I'm just hoping she gets to the Breeders Cup.
So Jerry, what was yours growing up?
What was your home track? Like what we're was your your
your horse racing memories. Where what track was?
We're all those formed at I always, you know, I was never
involved. My father would never take me to
track you, take my brother right up to my was like, 15.
Then my oldest brother said, I know you like horse racing as
I'll take it to the track that it's humble.
Don't tell Dad, you know. So I want the aqueduct.
I seen a stake race Susan's girl.
Remember, once he was a champion Philly, all right, and then I
was hooked after that. And right after I got out of
high school I said I'm going to go work at the track so I went
to the track. I did Mike like 11 months,
walking horses, mucking stalls and I loved it.
Hey like 146,000 a week you know you working seven days a week
and it was fun but you know, My brother.
A union. He goes, you want to make some
real money. I said, I guess, I have to
because I can do pool know what I'm doing here.
I went into printing you and I was in there.
My whole life until 99. Paul calls me and tells me about
getting into the horse game, which that changed my life.
So I had to do two koreas ahead. But the aqueduct was always my
favorite track. I mean, Belmont, I want to a few
times, you know, basically Aqueduct.
You don't hear that very often someone from you're saying over,
Saratoga Velma, that Aqueduct is the place to go.
I love Ali. Be me.
Yeah, by the way like that kind of track.
I do like that kind of track by the way Susan's Susan's girl the
1972 winner of the jokes about that, all right.
So erase 63 times 29 wins 14 seconds in her career, you'll
see that anymore. Do we?
She was great. Yeah, we're talking about the
spinster. The the beldame, the Delaware
handicap the match. She won the match maker at
Atlantic City when it was still over the wow.
Second in the vanity and the Wilshire.
A grade 1 grade 3. Before that one, the Long Beach
handicap at Hollywood Park. I mean she won graded Stakes at
some Coast-to-Coast like 10 different tracks.
Wow. Yeah she was that's like You
know, those 63 starts fall in love with those fillies fault,
you know? When they're, when they're 23
years old because they're going to run forever, right?
Yeah, I mean you know the game's little change right now I mean
I'd like to see like these guys that keep their courses and
training. You know when we sold Regal
Glory, okay? A lot of money right now but I
just love the horse, he was really great friends of Paul and
he said I'm going to race it again.
I said really, it said okay you know, she was five, you know,
and then she put in this spectacular season she was
winning everything every race. I was just so happy.
But, you know, a lot of guys to know when a marriage 5, that's
usually the prime is to put them into breeding, but he ran her.
So now she's the she's enfold to miss into mischief.
I believe right now. Awesome.
Well Jerry. I appreciate it.
A whole lot for coming on today. You got another one.
Yeah, yeah, Jerry. Thanks for coming on.
It's always kind of cool to see someone who, you know, was
mucking stalls to run in an entire racing operation.
It's pretty amazing. What, how do you like to enjoy
the races? Now, what are you?
What do you do? Do you you ought to Mom with you
go to Aqueduct or yeah. Walking home.
Fresh blood. Tomorrow is a couple of
beautiful two-year-old races. Oh my God, I hope it don't rain
too hard. So I want to nothing like
because I think is fascinating because I think you could
probably look at two-year-old races thousand different ways.
How do you like to handicap a two-year-old race?
What do you look at first? When they have limited, well, it
was a lot easier when I was in the game with the chain is
because everybody has an opinion in most of these guys know when
that was going to run. But if the workout pad is a very
you know you got to see them work and every seven days.
No you try to get a nice workout before the race.
Not the last word down, maybe the race.
You for that. That's the primary work out is
the workout before the last, if you see a nice to you, I work
like a mini flat anywhere. They're ready to roll, you know,
so I always have to work Well Jerry thanks again for coming on
and maybe we'll do this again sometime.
I appreciate it. Sure guys, that was great.
Ya happy now, I love it. The part of the connections of
big brown. Pretty interesting stuff and
he's putting the guys got stories for days though.
Yeah. All right.
Well, let's next time we're going to have you not show up
But Jerry talk and I'll just reacted area.
That's fine. Yeah, you could roll with that
interview. No problem.
All right, we're going to enter into our handicapping segment as
we wait for our guests layer of belly to join the show.
What? You'll and he'll tell us about
his favorite in the, how they work?
Yeah, no. But one of his owners are
shipping it for to the allowance, racism actually
interested. Ask about those as well.
It's great. So you want to go ahead and
start with Race 9, we do just a heads up if you haven't checked
them out. First gen Sports 1st, Gen
sports.com, check out a Louise, look ahead, every Saturday.
It's kind of a recap of this this segment on the show.
We always link this part of the show to as well if you end up
missing it. But all of my takes on what will
happen in the sequence that we're checking out and the freak
is the late pick for a dad to still down at the sold-out.
And that starts with the Daniel Stearns Cleveland cup, it's a
modern date on the dirt for three-year-olds.
Ohio Reds only 75,000 dollar purse, Willie, where did you
land in this race? In the ninth like you mentioned
the ninth and the tenth are going to be Ohio, old me, right?
Yeah, we get the state breads here.
The 75,000 dollar Races by the way, did you look up who Daniel
Stearns? I do what I'm doing right now.
Just, you know, you got to get away for a little bit important
figure in Ohio, okay? But also, I think the name of a
serial killer, it's probably not that guy, so it's not him if the
other one. So go ahead and do that.
I, uh, I landed on a couple of Different horses here.
So what's interesting is the prep race for this race kind of
visitor phrase developed here in Cincinnati.
Okay but then they turn it back and go on the dirt at a mile a
minute here Erza's. Yeah.
Melanie and so last time out Trojan tail routed for the first
time seem to really like it comes back keeps a fair and
Peterson the jockey here. She's back for this one, looks
to make it three in a row trainer.
Mike Baker goes very well between surfaces.
So for me, I'll be looking for that one.
I think it's an obvious favorite here.
The six Trojan tail paint. The town is the Horse in this
race. Mike run well in the mud before.
I think there's a chance we're actually going to get rain
tomorrow and Saturday. Okay, it's up.
We're looking for horses that run.
Well when it's wet, I would look for paint the town.
Not wet paint or paint the town red Town.
See how I did that. Yep like it decent chance.
We're looking at a wet track like I mentioned that Gorham
Diaz combo at thistledown 29% together and after getting the
experience after over two turns, I think that horse will also be
part of the final equation, but for the to fair and square in
the for return on investment, I think they're both interesting.
Runners. I would learn lean toward fair
and square in this one. The to horse here for Tim ham,
the trainer their horse been running in that state Bread
Company in these these steaks here, these are black types and
listed Stakes as run behind Trojan tail twice last two times
out, but only lost by a couple links last time.
Does now have that routing experience as well?
I would lean on the 2 first. So if I had a top 3 here, I
would go, 6 3 & 2. All right, so, Daniel Stearns
was a veterinarian who tended to the police horses and Cleveland.
And then he bred some resources. But then I think as you know
Michigan State or a big chain guy specifically you like that
he championed the Ohio State Victory Bell.
So that, you know, I would I like Ohio State.
Well me, just because it has some new Big 10 football and
it's like the only exact shaking his head because he knows
something, right? He'll do well, I'm with that
either. I'm no one know how stay all
day. No, but I think it's cool that
they named the Cleveland Gold Cup.
A guy, obviously, a very important.
Yeah, it was around for a long time.
Dad, what? The decade ago, something like
that. Sounds about, right, what you
said? Oh yes.
All right, we'll move onto raced in another Ohio, bread race here
for three year, olds and up amount of 16th on the dirt.
This is the George Lewis Memorial.
Another 75,000 dollar race. Where did you land in this race?
Yeah. So these state road races are
really interesting. And I think once in a while you
have to go for the harder older horses that have been knocking
around for a while, the eight big truck.
And here, I think is a desert favorite at 32 1349 at the
distance. One is last two going to turns
as get back to Rowdy here. So that makes a lot of sense,
couple. Last race is here, he's been
sprinting. I don't think that's what he
wants to do. I do think that he wants to get
back to turns. I think he'll do that Mobile
Solutions in this race. The 38 year, old gelding, 30
starts nine wins nine places, five shows at thistledown in his
career, so that horse does nothing.
But hit the board at thistledown 7421 at the distance and again
because we're in that state Bread Company.
We're really looking at this as like a nice allowance rather
than something. Sure.
For advanced like a great three upgrade to something like that.
Give me those two on top. So the E8 and A3.
I'm fascinated by Venture on the five here by numbers speed
numbers, I should say figures not impressive.
But the time say otherwise we just talked about this with
Jerry looking at, you know, workouts a two year olds or
whatever. It might be.
In this case, he's actually quite quite capable and I think
there's a chance that he's part of the final equation as well.
So if you're looking for a longer shot horse to hit the
board and be part of your exact assay, or the trifecta, look for
the five. So I went 835 in the George
Lewis, The Lonesome. Lewis says he was known and
since you're having the the writer from The Plain Dealer.
That's exactly who George Lewis was.
He was the handicapper for the Plain Dealer and, you know, you
don't, I think one day there should be a John service takes
or Ron flatter steaks or Well, you know, it's going to be on
the round fighter pilot tomorrow.
Right, who's that? Louis Robo.
Oh, are you? How about that?
Oh man, I got to know a. I didn't even know.
I was prom in that one. I'd take that one about that.
Yeah, so there it is. Your boy tomorrow, by the way.
On this little movie with a little Plain Dealer.
Yeah, little around flattered. That's way too much.
Lou. Ruvo, I wonder if they're there.
Might. Are you doing the show from home
tomorrow's? I was going on.
Well, good question, probably. Okay.
The the heck is just shaking his head.
The last like, five minutes of this I show no Ohio, State too
much. Louis and where are you doing
this show? And try to figure it all out
this Ohio bread program there Louis I think is something that
really benefitted from casino gambling.
I'm gone. Okay.
I mean, we saw and fell down or both recinos.
Have to think about Mahoning Valley, but I'm almost certain
though it is. I'm pretty sure.
Yeah, I'm almost 100% sure it is, but that is good.
That's the Pistons aren't taking him into using like a me, let me
tell you about the Number 5 of Horseshoe Casino's.
I saw driving the 10, across the eastern part of the United
States. Well, I'm just, I think that
that no doubt about it, casino gambling.
This is exactly where West Virginia and Ohio, just they're
racing. Programs.
Just bloomed out of the, I mean, they, they were around, but they
became serious Players Once once that kind of those purses came
in there in the breeding became Advantageous.
So there it is. There's the to Ohio dreads and
that leads us into race 11, which is the lady.
Jacqueline, a mile and an eighth on the dirt Phillies and mayor's
three-year-olds duck. Now we're getting into some real
money. Two hundred fifty thousand
dollars for a listed Stakes, that's what casinos do for you
Louis. It's also how you get the feel
that they have. If this isn't, this is not a
list of snakes. This is at minimum, a grade 3
and I'm like, oh, great, too, - because multiple winners of
graded stakes in here. I just, I think that This is a
really like interests a Daydream to as a, as a as a she's for
yes, as a family. Look, she's carrying the most
weight in this field and the weight is based on not on age,
but rather on wins. And so sometimes that's the
giveaway. She won the black-eyed.
Susan last year, she's 242 at the distance.
You get Frenchy. You get Brad, Cox.
This is the kind of trip that you make on purpose and so, I
think she's absolutely the one to beat here.
She's the eighth in the lady. Jacqueline. 2663 caliber Randy
huge. Last time I mentioned her
earlier in the show, in that. Great three.
Shawnee at Churchill Downs. This is technically a class drop
and I think of idiomatic and I think of Interest a Daydream is
similar horses. I do think idiomatic probably
running a little bit better right now.
And so, I do think that, that 63 caliber, if she can repeat that
performance from the Shawnee, has your shot here, Misty.
Bales in here, the five put together, a series of good runs
this year, including in the Dupont right behind Interstate
Daydream last time at Pimlico and so I think she can obviously
turn the tables with a little added distance here.
So I went 865 in the lady Jung of course, Interstate Daydream
also won the Indiana Oaks which we saw a live.
Yeah. Last year so good.
That is a good field, is either the race before.
Or after we watched I have our winner of Grassroots.
It was right around the. Yeah.
I was there right after I right. Yeah.
I was always part of our pick for ticket that, you know, you
read against me. To my face.
You were It Against Me by people, like, texting me all you
missed? Amen.
I don't care. I really I'm unimpressed with
him. I think he's, I think you'd be
as a stud. So, we'll see what the Pistons
do here. They are on the clock draft,
pretty much going as I'm, he's got.
You feel far to go with Kate coming here?
Other six will ya? All right, race. 12 is the grade
3? Ohio Derby?
This of Course if it says Derby's for three-year-olds Mile
and eight on the dirt five hundred thousand dollars, we're
going to see The Return of to Phil's here, heavy favorite.
But there's probably a couple other Shooters here that you
liked as well, right? So interesting race last year we
got the Tawny Port Y tu Barrio man.
Yeah and they went toe-to-toe down the stretch.
We got a really good Ohio Derby last year.
Best horse in this race is to Phil's.
Look generally speaking, the best three-year-olds.
Run in the Kentucky Derby, we got that with two fills.
A sheer ran a really Kirby, was it going to be made on that day?
Every metric points to him? Winning this Race speed figures
trainer stats at cetera. Underrated how good Larry
Reveille is at placing his horses.
People who listen to this show are tired of me.
Talking about how trainers place our horses.
Clara Valley has 134 of his 99th starts this year.
Wow, that's a good. That's a good resource.
Yeah, exactly. And we're talking about that
including four runs for two films this year.
He's only won one Race Tech time.
He's hit the board now for but At second in the Kentucky Derby
that first, of course, in the Jeff Ruby and the grade 3,
random, the Risen star and ran in the Lecompton, not get the
women either of those. So he is technically 142 at the
distance because of the Jeff Ruby.
But then before that, of course, finished third in the Risen star
behind son, thunder in angel of Empire.
I do think he's the class here. Bishops Bay is in here.
Arcangelo beat him in the Peter Pan.
What did arcangelo do the next start one Belmont.
What's the while you give a horse a pass for losing by head?
What I don't like about this horse.
Is he gets in the stretch and he doesn't, he doesn't pull away
from horses. He likes to run right next to
them. I think he's capable of pulling
away and he just doesn't do it and that bothers me.
So you think he's a pack animal. I think he really is.
Yeah, it is floral Giroux riding in.
It's not like it's Iraq. Like pushing him through the
finish line or something. I don't think florins a good
match for the horse, but I think he can win.
I think he's it's an uncle model Pioneer.
The Nile merrily totally capable, they paid four hundred
and fifty thousand dollars in this horse.
They obviously think in the spender if group, that spent
three of deceived me that he's got obvious.
And I agree that he's got obvious talent that he can win
here. The other horses here that
people will know that I think are the unknowns in this race
are the seven. Lord Mi sure.
Scratch. Other areas of the stewards
decision in Kentucky to shut down all of the Safi Joseph
horses, he's flying in Edgar's is to ride his horse.
That's not an accident. He obviously thinks he has
something here. The other one is a strike.
We've talked about a strike on this show because we did the
Maryland series he ended up going to Maryland who wins the
private terms with Lasix runs back.
In the Bluegrass, no Lasix finishes nine and a half
lengths, back in seventh place. The other Thompson, I think this
listen, this Thompson is a probably not as much upside as a
man, but he's probably more NBA ready right now.
So there you go, there he is. One college player taken in the
first five picks of the NBA draft.
Which is, which was going to happen.
So, So hey strike comes back in the Texas.
Derby last out by the way for people who want to know what we
just talked about, Asura Thompson just picked by the
Detroit Pistons, right? After his twin brother Eamonn
Thompson went to the Houston Rockets.
So there you go to try some better place to live in Houston.
All right, so the hey strike comes back, he wins last time
out in the Texas Derby. Guess what he gets, what Lasix,
Lasix. All right.
Guess the last time he won with that Lasix was yeah his main run
at Ellis Park. Okay, the Pea Patch?
Yeah so he's a very unknown for me without Lasix so too.
To me, he's not a winner here. The waiter to me is to Phil's.
If it's not him to be, it's Bishops Bay.
I would only play two horses here at most, I would play the
four and the three of you. So, what's your take a look?
Like, you're like, I don't have one yet, okay, that'll be up at
first gen sports.com, this weekend.
You can check that out on Saturday, should be real easy,
and I should point this out. We did like the beer money stuff
and we're doing some fundraisers.
You know, this is all spring, this is all free because people
helped us with the beer money stuff.
Yeah. It's now we have the website so
like yeah. Check It Out first-gen Sports.
It's called the loo it's called Louise, look ahead every
Saturday and go ahead and check that out.
We are at this alone this weekend.
All right. There you go.
Well, I'm assuming Larry Reveille got hung up.
So I think they're either shipping in or yeah.
Whatever else or he's driving to Cleveland from Chicago or
something. Whatever what it is, what it is.
So we will effort in some other time, you know, we'll see what
we can do to get him back on maybe after he wins you harder,
be be nice if we can get him on so we'll try that again.
So thank It's you. Thanks to everyone for
listening. Make sure you check out first
JanSport Zach. Thanks as always for, you know,
for being there for us, we appreciate you.
Yeah. All right.
Well, I'm gonna sit here and watch the draft until pick 58
when Chris. Let me stick goes off the board.
Chris Livingston will go earlier than that.
That's my pig. I think it goes in the 40s.
Okay, yeah, I think, I don't think Oscar she way gets picked
on that. So, you know, the hood.
You know, case in wall is stuff. It'd be interesting to watch
this video because there's ever been that good.
I mean, my hair is excellent all the time.
So, you know, are you on alter? Thompson's level for hair?
Yes, yes. I want to be 100% clear.
Mike's hair is awesome. Now, if you can ever find it,
find House Hunters. Mike.
Oh, my hair was not awesome back then.
It was not awesome. That is true.
Yeah, I I didn't let my hair grow anywhere. 19 with your hair
like, were you dominating? No.
I here, I come. I had two choices, I didn't deal
with it at all. These curls and didn't want to
be able to it. So I've now 19 though, 18 or 19,
I had my hair in braids at one point.
Oh yeah. Jules met now, just like being
stupid one time like yeah, it was like a permanent thing is
like something I did for a day. So this Thompson got different
parents than the other one. No, I don't think that's right
either. Because brother.
Yeah, okay. Yeah.
I we're gonna pay the tab or any guy here.
We're gonna watch them in be a giraffe.
Are we gonna have NBA Draft coverage on the on the site
tomorrow? First-gen.
That's gold right now right now. Okay that's going right now.
So if you're watching us right now, flip over to First
transports, make sure you turn on ESPN, watch the draft and
then read up on what? A.j.
Davis, organize our NBA. I love it.
Alright, pay the tab will get out here.
This has been the worst reason. Happy hour that was it, fuck
that.
