Alright, welcome to another edition of the horse-racing

happy hour, okay? Trying to get the, the the beer

cut. We got a little bit of the, the

butcher can hear the last one, the last of the star last a

week, hanging out with us, but your town the Gianna and honor

of you. My friend, of course, thank you.

But Stone Brewing just east of downtown.

So when you come to town for, do we go check them out.

Just used to downtown Indy Mellwood Art Center across from

a good pizza spot there, too, but we have to pay me Max.

Is that what it is? Anyway, yeah, I know my pizza

places. Welcome in our guy, John Linda.

What is your favorite style of pizza?

John window, anything that's on the plate.

Works for me, Chicago. Detroit, even the thin crust

stuff out here. New York.

It doesn't matter to me. That's all good.

Yes. I would consider fitted with a

shot. Yeah.

Right. What is your answer, Chicago?

Tavern. Going to be different but I will

tell you that there is nothing like a deep-dish, Chicago Pizza.

It's not a pizza, it's a casserole.

You can call it whatever you want but sure.

Are you a Giordano's or Lou? Malnati's giannios, your

Donna's. Okay, Lou Malnati's really good.

At Pizzeria Uno is really good if you go down to know and do a

downtown but I grew up literally down the street from Jarrod.

All right, there was a place in Chicago that to like, right

across the street from where the Valentine's Day Massacre

happened. That does a Pizza pot pie.

So the pizza is like upside down and the crust is on top and it

was, it was really, really good. I can't remember the name of

that place. Yeah.

We went there once those, it was awesome.

I have to say, what are the best developments recently?

Is that a guy like John even knows what Detroit style?

Pizza is like the good, the good pizzas are traveling Detroit

style pizzas starting to make a little bit of a noise it is.

Yeah, that's good. Thanks the Jets have a body by

pizza so it works. You fit in again with the show

very well. So we did not scare John Lindo

way, he came back Thoroughbred La every Saturday and Sunday out

there on KLA, make sure you check him out.

Of course, the big weekend with the Santa Anita Derby and the

scene Anita Oaks this weekend. So we'll talk a little bit about

that but before we do that, we really got to had to dig into

these races from last weekend because I think we saw two legit

contenders and we're going to start by looking at Forte's,

what I thought was just highly impressive win here in the

Florida Derby. Tries to sneak away.

He has the levite you and a half mr.

Ripple he's now second Cyclone. Mischief moves up on the

outside, third 14th logged in as many begins to roll from the

back, they reach past the quarter mile pole, the Florida

Derby and maybe he's got the jump on Forte, is he goes to get

Fort, Bragg Cyclone. Mischief is fighting hard.

He's still right there. What's that?

A quarter of a mile to count and Cyclone Mitch, Jim.

He's up for a fight. Tries to turn away manage 1400.

Hurry, Very close. But the champion prevails.

All right, Louis, no matter what the time actually was in the

end, go check out that episode. I did one with Peter Galiano.

She used to be the field manager for track s kind of walk through

how those those timing issues happen in the United States on

Tuesday that's available wherever you, get our podcast.

And actually I think the fact that was a slower time, actually

to me makes it more Press it with the win.

So okay. Yeah, and we can talk about that

here in a second would just overall, what were your

takeaways from why? I just, you know, the other part

is it's going to be very close as what Pio says at the end

there and then it wasn't very close actually you know, it was

not a fun founded passed yet, major at the end of that race,

the other parts of remember here, too.

And I don't know how John feels about this.

We're going on for a long as there were going to go 10 in the

Kentucky Derby. And I think he's gonna love

every bit of the distance John. Well, absolutely.

And, you know, he came up an easy win in the fountain of

youth, everything went his way. Thing went his way the other

day. Terrible post, got back I got

stuck in traffic. Ate a lot of sand in his face

Mage one. What?

Right around and full of run and to come back and go around him

and actually went under wraps. I was surprised and impressed,

you know, he's now, he's obviously battle-tested.

He won the Breeders Cup juvenile?

Yep, he can. And you now know, he doesn't

have to get things his own way. He'll make his trip if something

goes wrong and like I say, I think the longer stretch, you

know, Churchill Downs is only going to help him.

So you can check a lot of boxes on this horse.

He handles just about everything and, you know, I thought it was

a little nervous in The Paddock and going to the gate to.

He got a little hot going to the gate.

So you got a little bit of a cretin, the taste of the big

crowd and all the activity, he got it all through that.

So again a lot of boxes checked off for Forte.

Yeah, you can't really ever simulate The Joint horse field

or the 170,000 people, right? But that was about as close as

you're going to get to, you know, can someone handle traffic

there? Might not have been as much

bumping or whatever else. You know, he didn't really get a

good ride. I mean, I think that's the other

thing too is like you overcook in some ways even overcame a

jockey, you know. And that might be kind of

sacrilegious to talk about I read and I read not giving a

good ride, but even the day he might have made his one move too

soon. He didn't have them in great

position and that horse five wide.

I mean, he had to run so much further than every other horse

out there. And to me, when I said, if it

was a slower time and made it a little bit more impressive

because, you know, you, we could almost see a closer winning a

race with Really hot Pace but it wasn't hot paid.

So sources, all those horses up there Fort, Bragg maze where

horses that we were talking about the week before.

That quite honestly, at that page, should have been able to

almost go wider wire. And so for Forte to be able to

still storm upfront without with that slower Pace, I think

incredibly impressive, I think John talking about him figuring

out the trip, even though it didn't go, his way is

absolutely. The headline of this race is

that he made, he made his own trip in this one in the same

way. Clean.

The found a youth. He made his trip there to just

happen to be a lot easier. And so it's it is nice.

When you see three year olds that go back to back in just

win, right? They just they want to be at the

front and that's where we're at. I think we're about to see that

with angel of Empire as well. He's got that attitude.

I don't know if he's as talented as Forte but at least he's got

the attitude. And I mean John before we see

the races this weekend is forte, the best three-year-old that's

been through 100 Point Race at this point.

Well, I think so. Yeah he showed his quality as a

two-year-old. He's come back and he's actually

I think move forward a little bit because he's handled some

different situations at Gulfstream and to win from far

off. The pace of Gulf Stream is not

an easy thing to do. So I think he was battling a

track profile, a bad trip everything else and he got

through it like I say so I don't think you can ask anything else

of them. He goes into the the Derby is

legit favorite. Yeah, we was the last time we

had a favor like this big of a favorite this early life.

Well, there's no question if Forte makes the race because

there's a lot of things that can still happen as we've all seen

with Omaha. Probably justify coming out of

the sanitary, probably five years ago.

Yeah, because people were, when the like three, two, one kind

of, they were like that. Horse can be three, two, one.

That's what we're going to get a new one off at 1:55.

I think sir, 72 maybe in. Yeah, I think it's been since

since justified, by the way. Justifiably.

So, Dad joke, I love it. Okay, I'll be here all night.

If your servers want to watch Angel event, Fire.

Yeah, let's watch this. I don't, I don't know how

seriously, we were taking him as a contender on this show.

We were definitely more on the wait and see, but we definitely,

we wait. And we saw it twice.

Okay, yeah, we know, you could be the Derby Derby Contender,

right? So let's, let's take, I love the

style. Let's see, it.

Interlock Empire dropping back and out of it as bourbon bash.

Red Route One, enters the stretch 10th and last as they

straighten away in the First stretch, an angel of Empire has

ranged into the lead here to Eagles.

River drops back on the inside toward the outside.

King Russell is running on reincarnate in the second flight

with airtime and Rocket, an angel of Empire.

And Flavia and Pratt angel of Empire wins, the Arkansas, Derby

and wins it clear. I think the thing that's

striking for me, Louis looking at that race replay, especially

when we get to the head on Angels Empire looks like you

know, a division 1 athlete among them.

Of JV basketball players. I mean that's what the best

horse is supposed to do amongst a field of horses that aren't as

good as he is, right? That's what he did on Saturday.

So I I mean, I cast a very large ticket betting on him down in

Louisiana, so I was very happy to see him.

Do it at Arkansas, John, I personally really value when

horses can take there, their show on the road and go to

another track and repeat a performance from another, you

know, that a different surface as in dirt but it's a different

service at the different track. Do you also value that when

you're watching these three year olds?

Oh, absolutely. Especially a lightly race

towards like Angel of Harlem. He hasn't been, you know, all

over the world doing all kinds of things.

He's only had a few starts and and he's taken that step forward

every single time, he obviously handle the mile and an eighth of

flogging. A prop was not at the end of the

he didn't have an empty tank at the wire.

There was Left there, he should move forward again, and he's

another one of those horses, I think the further he goes the

better, he's going to like it and I would expect him to move

forward again in the Kentucky Derby.

Now, you know, he's not as season to some of those are the

other horses that will be there, but he hasn't shown me anything

that is going to hold him back from moving forward again and

like say when you can ship and then you run well at Oaklawn

horses that handle that main track, tend to handle Churchill

Downs pretty well too. And you know, and again, I want

to back up my comment of what I I said earlier about the the

division 1 athlete a bunch of functions JV players because I

think we probably felt better about the depth of this filled

with reincarnate and Rocky Canyon and red route.

One. I know you really like to teach

the to Eagle River horse. I did like you to go sir.

There's a local horse. Yeah, you had Harlow cap in

there as well, who was a bastard and then got transferred

Erasmus, and as you feel better about this field than you did

before, I felt like it was more open than the Florida Derby.

Yes. Yeah.

So, I mean, and it paid like it, Before, he's a lot better than a

lot better, though. Every time we got on, I mean,

Angels, Empire was not the favorite in this race, right?

It was she or he went off as the fourth pick.

Seven hundred thirty nine thousand dollar paycheck.

Right? I'll pay some bills.

Yeah we'll bill. So remember to guys Angels

Empire the rac1 down on Fairgrounds it kind of fell

apart, Laden, all the closures did well so look like the race

shape helped him. There was not a ton of speed in

this race, the Arkansas Derby and he overcame that anyways

here Ran well, despite the race shape this time.

So again, he did, he did a lot of things, right?

I think that pressing style to is a winning style in the derby

John. I think that, you know, with

Forte you give him credit for the outside post and having to

overcome all of those things. But the style that angel of

Empire ran in. This race is one that can

absolutely win the Derby. Be in fifth, sixth, seventh

place. And then when you get to the

turn, that's what you make your move.

And you've only got a couple of horses to pass rather than

having to be a rich strike in. Get the perfect zigzag sort of

trip in and out. Do you take that into account

when you start looking at your Derby, Contender Forte, able to

do it, a lot of different ways, angel of Empire able to do with

a more pressing style. Does that stand out for you?

Anytime you have versatility, then then you're not dependent

on the ratio, a poor, what happens?

You can adjust it as things go. And these two horses have

already done that and like to say at Churchill Downs, even

though it's a moment quarter, you want to be on top of those

leaders turning for home. You don't want to have to pass

six or seven horses. It's not easy to do.

Yeah absolutely. So I mean to legit contenders I

think going into this and I think we're going to talk about

another one because I think we didn't know outside of forte.

What was in this three-year-old class necessarily right now, I

think we're going to have some answers this weekend as well.

Absolutely. But I love that a horse like

Angel of Empire wins. One of the Wonder point races

because I think we look at him when we go that's a horse that

can hit the board in Kentucky Derby, I would agree.

And I, you know, I especially when we had, you know, Arabian

Night not going practice, right? I'm sure.

You know, Cave, Rock cave Rock? Hasn't materialized the child

exactly. Yes.

So Oh, it's good. I mean I do think when we see

practical move, you know, that's a horse that I expect to be

right there with them. So and I kind of like the fact

that it's young teens, find self and not a bad effort, that's

been shipped to him. So that's starting to gain steam

by the way, I hope. So I saw an article.

I think it was Blood Horse today about how yaqeen has one of his

own you know, something like that.

John, I'm a little I'm a little tired of those kinds of

headlines. I think that, you know, I would

feel really bad. If Tim yachting does a really

great job with a horse wins the Derby and then he doesn't get

the full credit because he won't, you know, and it's so if

you don't, he get the fulcrum practical.

Move. Practical move?

Yes. Yes.

Other horses now and so and I get it, I want to be clear.

I get it but it doesn't make me feel better.

So this is that, is that still a mean?

You know, for example, phases running This weekend in the Oaks

and she's still in the bathroom Barn.

So clearly the you know ownership is agreed.

Hey we're not going to Kentucky Oaks will go to another race.

We'll talk about it when we get there but it's this still is

this a conversation? All the time where people in

Southern California kind of moved on well we kind of, you

know, it is what it is. So right, and you know, you're

not supposed to have any content, baffert it's not

supposed to be having any contact with the octene talk

about training these horses that have been transferred, Tim knows

what he's doing. He would he work for backward

for six years in an Assistant. He knows how those horses are

trained on a regular basis and obviously he he's having the

best year that he's ever had. He's got a lot of life horses on

Santa, Anita Derby Day at Santa Anita.

Not only the horses, he has in the Santa Anita Derby.

So he's a capable trainer, you know.

I think he'll get out of these horses.

Whatever you can get out of them.

I like it again. And that's where if he was going

to get his first one, I would love for it to be on practical

move who I do things. Chicken tender.

The Forte. I'm also pushing forward to it.

I do think I think we're going to have something this weekend.

I think it's going to happen. Regardless of who wins the Santa

Anita Derby cuz I don't think we're going to get a major upset

out there that we're going to have a debate that we've had so

many times. John which is who do you like

better? The Santa Anita Derby winner or

the Florida Derby winner. Well, that's a we won't know

till they all get them together in the same place together.

You know. That's what we have to do.

Working on our numbers, your go to a neutral track.

And do you go from there? And you watch them train on that

racetrack, who knows? But you know, that's that's our

job to figure it out. Once these things are all in

the, in the pipe and we can, you know, look at the film and try

and figure out where we're going to go.

I have a feeling by the way, that I discovered, who the buzz

horse is going to be backside, Churchill Downs, Derby week.

Are you ready? Okay.

I think I have. You guess to Phil's?

No, that's a good one though, but he want 100 Point Race and I

get it, it's Turfway, whatever. Cyclone Mischief is going to get

a bunch of A bunch of hype because it's Dale, Romans and

that horse did not run poorly in the Florida Derby.

Did not, he did not run poorly in the Florida Derby.

We're going to hear about how he loves Churchill.

How, he's just, he's just floating over the surface, all

that's going to happen is going to be Cyclone Mischief.

That's my prediction 30 days before the Derby today.

Calling it give me 25 days. From now we're talking about

cyclamen also via the be the Dan's of this year's Sylvia 30

better. He did, he's gonna be a great

one. Turn my Lord.

Yeah, well injuries, great horse, tail deserves to have a

good horse again. We know it's been a while.

So. All right.

So let's talk a little bit more about this grade one, Santa

Anita Derby. So can I ask John a question

before we get to the handicapping handicap chair?

Okay, so John, I was thinking about this the other day, about

Southern California racing and what what the big days are and

you I think it was with you last time you were on that.

You talked about when you were a kid, big cap day was the day,

right? Right.

And to me, and I don't know if Mike agrees from the outside.

The biggest race in Southern California now is the Pacific

classic? I would agree.

Okay, would you agree that? That's the shift that's

happened. John and has the Santa Anita

Derby. Even moved ahead of the big cap.

Yeah, as far as I need, it goes to standing in a derby day, is

the biggest day, the pile of bunch of big races, you know,

the big cap as much as I love it.

As long as a lot of luster because the big horses go

elsewhere and right now, the Pacific classic is the only

million Race for thoroughbreds in California.

So it's got to be the biggest race and you do get shippers

coming in after that money and it's still more.

We get a big crowd. So yeah, I agree with you 100%.

Okay. All right.

So the grade one thing to need of Derby.

Santa Anita Derby is re6 on Saturday modern date on the dirt

of course or three-year-old 750,000 dollars, you know.

Get those purses up for the something like this to I think

you know, some 50s on par with the wood.

It's not it's not know. That's good to know but it's For

the, it's a million dollar race. It's a great one for a reason,

I'll say that. All right.

Well, it is, it is. I will say, we give California

hard time about Grady. Graded Stakes.

This is a great one. This is a, this is as grade one

specific Classic. This race are the two, like no

question, no doubt or red ones. Probably, yeah, probably.

So how do you see this race unfolding there, John?

Well, practical move is number five in the program.

He's I think 825 on the program. He'll be Everett he had an

absolutely perfect trip when he won the San Felipe last time.

Just set got through in the inside.

Turning, for home opened up in one, he is obviously improved

since the time he was a two-year-old, he's a big strong

horse and he's getting better. But yeah, I'm looking at this

race from a trainer and tent. He's got his Derby points.

He's in who needs to win. He doesn't have to win this

race. If you want to fiddle with his

style and see if he'll sit inside outside or sit off the

pace a little bit now. So time you test drive him to

see what you've got. In case you need to To do

something different in Kentucky. The horses that need to get the

points, here are National Treasure who was a scratch from

the San Felipe came up with a foot issue.

That's been resolved. He's had 36 wrong Works.

Since that scratch one of the baffle horse this.

Now, in the Tim young, team Barn, you've got Skinner coming

from way off the pastry. John Sheriff's was getting

better right now and there is some Pace in this race.

You got a couple of stretching horses stretching out, the pace

is going to be legit and you have go Rocket Ride who in his

second career start first around to turns rent second.

Practical move. I thought he ran a super race in

the San Felipe. After he got the past and kind

of was down inside of horses, he should have backed up in the

stretch last time, but he kept running, right?

As far as I like the race. I like National Treasure in this

spot. We saw his quality as a

two-year-old he missed the race last time.

I think he was favored on the program when he was scratched

and he's worked really well for this coming in.

He's and I really think this is a horse that wants to run

further than the mile and amount of 16th.

He gets to Milan 8th. There's a lot of speed with go

Rocket Ride. There's a cow bright name.

One in Vermillion, who was wiped out in the Sunland Derby.

Throw a fit in the game was wiped out.

Didn't get to show his speed. He's not this good but he's

going to make the pace hot. And you've got practical move

will be closed. I think National Treasure sits

in a good spot here. Third or fourth sitting on the

outside in the clear and if he's 100% fit, I think you can get

the money here. The Skinner, I think he gets a

better Pace scenario today and on Saturday, he'll love the mile

and an eighth and, you know, Joe Sheriff has been kind of winding

the source and widen the source up.

I think he'll move forward again on Saturday.

Practical move. Obviously the one to beat, but

if he gets beat, doesn't matter. He still going to Kentucky Derby

and go Rocket Ride if he isn't squeezing.

The lemon dry and Richard Mandela is not known for pushing

the button too. Hard to know all of a sudden,

the third career start, he's in the Santa Anita Derby.

One route race, he won career win.

You're asking an awful lot but this horse is good and he's

worked. Well, And he's Galloping out

like he wants to run this far. Yeah, I'm with you.

It's interesting to watch to Richard Mandela.

I think has borrowed a little bit from that baffert Playbook

on workouts with him. You see a six Furlong stacked on

a 5-4, a long workout for him which is much more common in

Southern California, workouts that we see especially on time

runs at least that we see here in the Midwest.

I still think practical move is the horse to beat here and and I

I appreciate John's take on this actually of trying to figure it

out. I don't.

Do you think Ramona, you know, Vasquez is at the point where

you can ask him to do what you're talking about?

He's written really well since he's come out from the Midwest.

Yeah and he's writing for a lot of the top trainers out here.

Now I haven't seen him take a missed it he won his very first

grade one when he came out here, right?

He's proven, he can win the big races and that's Concern for me.

Do you think he's the writer of the Practical move?

Do you think he's the Derby Rider?

You'll have to pry them off of that horse with a crowbar.

I hope so. It's one of the things that

always makes me a little sad job.

As Derby week is watching guys, like Ramon lose their mouths to

you know, usually a leper roof for no reason.

You know, I kind of like something crazy happened.

Saturday, you'll be on that horse and Kentucky.

I think Skinner's in a really good spot.

I agree with you about Skinner. By the way, I think this is a

must used here. This is a little bit of time off

since that San Felipe as far as just a little over a month,

something that John Sheriff's does really well ran.

Well in that race. I've bear.

I'm fascinated. John, I agree with you go.

Rocket Ride. I cannot figure out as far as

watching the replays doing those things.

I love a horse that the first time you ask them to do

something, does a good job with it.

So like you mentioned going you know going to turns they're

figuring it out that way. So I actually would 573.

I'm going to try to beat National Treasure here because I

think that horse is going to get a bunch of money and In this

case, I think this is more hey, finish second or third, get us

in the gate at the Kentucky Derby.

And then, we'll be second off the layoff of.

We'll figure it out in Louisville.

Yeah, the last got to run one to eat to get the points you need.

He's got to run 12. Yeah, the last Santa Anita Derby

winner to win the Derby was justified, but since then, we've

had authentic and I don't know what we call Medina Spirit at

this point. I guess not the Derby winner.

So, you know, that's who we've had kind of come through.

Ooh. So, you know we'll let the

winners are like honor AP and table and very good horse.

Oh absolutely. Rock your world.

Didn't you didn't really flourish after town of it?

So justify California. Chrome and I'll have another the

last three horses to win the CND.

A beach Roadster in their Roadster was in a yeah.

Okay. 2019 lovers. And Instagram came in through

that race could old histogram and how we made so many jokes

about that horse of the show, and it's a grant.

I, well, let's move on to this is John Locke real quick

question. Yeah, you can't.

I like John, I like Do you like the Derby point system?

Yeah, I do. I think it makes the Derby and

more legitimate re so, you know, before when it was just

earnings, you had all those sprinters going into the Derby.

You got those crazy Pace scenarios kind of like what we

saw last year. You know, for whatever reason,

Christy Lemire the guy who rode the horse in Dubai went on a

suicide mission, went 45 and change to the half-mile and

tomorrow and then we sell one of those old Derbies where you know

last man standing wins perfect. Yeah.

In general it's been a very formal Derby now that we're

getting Kind of a reasonable Pace scenario in the Kentucky

Derby. All right, let's move on to

that. Sanity to Oaks and gal, get an

idea there for a while, though. I mean, this was like, this was

it. This was the race.

I mean, you got Beholder, Songbird, midnight V, Su Bella

Fina Swiss skydiver. I mean, you had some incredible

winners of this race Abel Tasman, rents, second in this

race Abel Tasman. Different curry know, who's that

paradise? Was a nice one.

Yeah, won the race and that was her.

Yeah. Do you want okay, shouts, nobody

rich. I was at that Oaks 48 degrees in

Louisville. Raining, when Abel Tasman?

A dead last in the slop. Comes from like 15 off to just

romp in the race and when we're putting together a little Oaks

pick for my buddy's. Like what do you think about

Abel Tasman? I'm like, I think she lost a

Paradise Woods by nine legs in the sanity doakes.

That's what I think. So, we left off the ticket

because of measly Gonna Leave. This is right?

I never left a Bedford off after that.

Yeah. Well who's the budding Superstar

that's going to come out of this race?

Of course, that's that. Could I'm saying this very

intentionally because we know the phase of probably will not

go to the Kentucky Oaks or will not go the kitty cat.

For sure, is there someone out of this field that we can look

at the first? Well, I guess it is the first

Friday May this year. It's not always the first Friday

in May to be a contender in the Kentucky Oaks.

Right now I'd say it's doubtful II thought that I think the

three-year-old Phillies out here been weak face, has been the the

best Philly out here. She won the to preps for the

Santa Anita Oaks so far. And she's kind of hard to get

online and because she just does what she has to do to win.

She'll win by a half a length of three quarters.

It looks She's all in at the eighth pole, she finds a way to

get it done, but then she gallops out.

Well, I think there's something left.

She's the Philly to beat in here, but I'm numbers.

She's nothing special. And I think you have to go

shopping for a price because there's a lot of new Shooters

and the pace is going to be hot in this race as well.

You have a very fast printer name, clearly unhinged who's

going to make the lead in here. As she hasn't had a perfect prep

going into this race. So she tied up and I was going

to run in an allowance race. A few weeks ago, that was

canceled because of the rain right here, right up one

morning. She, she skipped another race

and now the connection said, well, heck let's just go in the

sand. I need a hoax.

I don't think this was the first choice, but she's going to make

the pace hot and you have the one horse Vengeance.

Been Gods, excuse me, coming out of a mattress.

There was a day of rain. They scratch your nose horses,

you ran fast but you only had to be one horse but she's quick and

so there's going to be some Pace in here.

Faisal be laying close. I like number six

window-shopping and yes another Mandela horse that broker made

last time. 16 likes the thing. I like about it is that she set

close to are very fast paced that day.

They went back to six Furlong, mark, on 110 and change.

That's kind of like what the pace is going to be on Saturday

and this race. She fired to the lead.

And, you know, the last quarter was slow, but she was eased up

down the lane because she was so far in front.

So I think there was more there. She's Affiliates always been

well regarded and she can drop off the pace in this race and I

think that's what you're going to have to do to win.

So I don't like the shopping in here as far as the other horses.

Yeah you had to be fayza you know?

I think and tell me no lies. It was second phase the last

time coming off the layoffs. She look like she needed the

rice last time. She's a family that wants to

when she tries hard of all the Phillies in here.

I think she's got the best chance to get to the Kentucky

Oaks, especially if she runs. Well, she's going to the old.

So we'll see what she does here. I expected to move forward off

that last race. And tell me, no lies finished.

Eighth in the Breeders Cup. Juvenile fillies.

What do I always say? I like Like the most about a

three year old Filly as a contender for the oops.

They want to be out front. They want to win.

Yes. Do you know how many of the

horses in this race are coming off of winds coming into this

race? Are nine horses in this field

favor 777. Wow, I love that about this

field. There's a bunch of winners in

this field. Excuse me.

I agree with John that window shopping is if you're going

outside of the phase of spot do that man.

I want to take a flyer on clearly unhinged here.

I trust Juan Hernandez to rate the horse as well as he possibly

can. Clearly unhinge look.

Look, try to have a civilization here.

Doesn't always work out. No, but I think clearly on

hinge, if we're going to have someone go Sprint around, it's

going to be out of that McCarthy Barn.

I think it's going to be under a guy like Juan Hernandez, who

understands the course. Understands three-year-old horse

is running as well as anyone on the west coast right now, and

probably the best frankly. And so, if I'm using someone

outside of phase that that's where I'm going, I'm going to

clearly unhinge the wild card here because I think even, I

don't know. John viewgroup me that four to

one number, I think it's gonna be more like 9 to 25 to 1 by the

We get to the gate. Yeah, I think so too.

I think she'll drift out a little bit.

I think they're going to concentrate on fayza and and

tell me no lies. I think they'll be the first to

sell out first and second choice.

I mean phase is going to be me that's gonna be like a 12-9.

All right? Well I'm gonna go four to five

kind of number. I mean, Bedford and stakes

races. It's an Anita.

You get what you get now? That's right.

But I clearly unhinge, of course going coming off of Just One

race so far at six and a half furlongs, but has is, you know,

an intimate shift so it can definitely go to turns.

I don't think we're afraid of that at all, right?

So before we let John go in. Any of the other snakes job?

Is there a long shot or someone else that you love on this card?

Well, I tell you what, coming down, the hill, race.

Number 10, the Monrovia is a really good betting race, the

Filly that filled the model has there a me.

See, she's 343 down the hill, nice.

She is really good in that she's got tactical speed and a finish.

And I think she's in the right spot there.

She's 72 in the program. She'll probably be 3 to 17 or to

somewhere in there. Awesome.

Okay, in a race with, there's a lot of Options to make Wagers

on. I think she's the right feeling

awesome Q straight wins. So yeah, like my wife is running

in this late in the race. So she is legs Galore.

How about why it was like 52. She has a longer inseam than me

and she's five inches shorter than that.

That's how about that. Yeah, there you go.

All right. Hey John, we appreciate you

working. People find you, you can catch

us Saturday from 9 to 10 and Sundays 8th to 10th orbital.

A.com and we'll be going over, the Santa Anita Derby field as

well as the wood and and the Bluegrass at keeneland's.

So we've got some homework to do for Saturday All right, John

Lindo, 60, Twitter, John j0n Lindo, Lan, di 0. 60 is my

Twitter handle. Yes, is a good follow and he's a

good guy. John, we appreciate you jumping

on bud. Thanks guys.

Good luck this weekend. Hi YouTube.

We're going to trade John Lindo for.

Wait wait. You got a shirt on?

Let's bring on our man. Dan Issel.

Who loves to see more. It'll make me.

Make me smaller. Make SL bigger.

He's sitting in a car at his grandsons.

Baseball game. How are you Dan Issel?

I am fine. How are we back, guys?

We're doing great. I see, I told you, your phone

would work. Yeah, I'm very happy.

Thank you. Well, good.

I'm also enjoying the random sun on your lips, that makes you

look. Like you put lipstick on.

Is that what that is? Your little reflection I think

coming off the there you are you wearing a Kansas pull over?

No it's not. What is that High School pull

over? Of course it's always Batavia.

Dude. 44 on Twitter, go find heavy co-host.

A show called Issel and Louis with a guy named Lou Robo, 10 a

new one every week. Today on ESPN 680 1057 in

Louisville. You can stream us anywhere in

the world at ESPN Louisville.com and go find that show.

We have brought him on because Dan has three children, his

daughter, his son and gained Keeneland.

And so we're going to have down not ordered.

It is not that order to have that order.

Dan told me today That is granddaughter chose to have her

graduation this weekend from high school and that she's lucky

that he likes his grandkids more than his kids.

So he's not going to come home this weekend.

Oh okay. I have a table in the clubhouse.

Dance here with us presented by Green Sheet racing, Green Sheet

racing.com. We're going to talk about the

all Stakes pick for, starting with Race Six with damn.

In the sheet. I did the turf pick three okay,

which is a three dollar minimum because I think there are I

think the Bluegrass is wide open as it's ever been, okay.

And he's gonna totally disagree with me, but we will get there

when we get there. But Mike, take us away or a

six-year. Are we going to start with Race

Six? Which is the Appalachian Stakes.

I was in Appalachia the last couple days.

So there you go. And you made it home alive.

I made it home alive. I passed through all that rain,

made it home alive Appalachian. Stakes is a four hundred

thousand dollar mile Turf, race. Dan, who is your pick?

In this one I want to ask. And did you consider the mile

Turf race? The signature race at Keeneland?

Well, yeah. I like alter phrases.

I like the mile and an eighth better.

Yeah. Okay, I do too but hunger got a

longer run to the first turn and, you know, the turf forces.

Get the spread out a little bit. But I love all Turf racing.

Yeah, do you like the to Finish Lines at Keeneland?

No, thank you. Thank you, Dad.

Thank you. Thank you.

The to Finish Lines, anywhere. I agree with you.

Okay, good. That's a massive pet peeve on

the show. Okay, good.

I'm just glad the Hall of Famer agrees with us that.

Yeah, so so I was, I was not prepared.

I have already done my handicapping from Saturday.

I think winning Oscar. What?

What's the Oscar Performance? Horse winning?

Oh, I got a no breeding now have another.

This is how he does it. I do.

Oh good lord, I repent. Pants.

That's his race. Is it?

Candy ride? I'm in the wrong race.

Yeah, you could be the wrong race race Sixth and now this is

beautiful. Navigator is the 12:48 papal,

happily 061. Cairo can sort 321 heavily

Sunday, 8 to 1 Alpha. Bella little bit.

Little bit. Okay, I like I'm good.

I like sug. McGehee source.

I think this one is is chalky like spread chalky, okay, like

there are four best horses here in one of the four best horses

is going to win. So I went 3572.

It sounds like Dan has the seven on top.

I think that's totally reasonable lightly race coming

out of that Breeders Cup juvenile Turf.

Phillies at Keeneland. She ran well over the surface

that day behind meditate who was one of the stars of Friday.

And so I think that's what he's getting at here switching to

Tyler because because I read is on Cairo consort.

Okay who's the favorite here? 3 2 1 Earth the second favorite

31 sorry. Coming out of those stakes races

in South Florida that here comes the bride in the sweetest chant.

Before that, of course the ginger Brew 12 of those came

third by ahead. The only thing, the only reason

I don't have the three on top here, Dan and is that?

I I worried, but I think because of the run up a little bit on

the mile is I think she wants more than a mile.

I think she's one of these these, these Phillies, you know,

Cairo, Prince Pioneer, the Nile kind of bread there with, you

know, a street crime. The bottom W, more than a mile.

Do you think that's a possibility?

Louis, I agree with that. I also watch that race live in

Florida and, and she had every opportunity to win this.

Yep. And just did not and I You know,

I prefer horses that try that, you know are talented but maybe

not as talented as they are hard tires.

And I think that's what shug's horses.

I will tell you, I do have I also included his seven, I have

the two puppy Leo as another horse that I think people need

to use in here. Mark hasse Javier Castellano

first race in the United States was part of that blank officials

actually ahead of Cairo consort in that race in that finish

second race in North America. Maybe she'll like the surface at

Keeneland and so To me again. I think it's form full but I

think you have to spread amongst those forms.

All right, let's move on to re 7, which is the Madison.

And this is a seven furlongs on the dirt.

And we're going to see The Return here of good night.

All of making, her 2023 debut. Of course, the eclipse Award

winner. Yeah.

Good night. All of and I think a probably

horsa Louis likes a lot in society at 3 2 1 here.

So I mean this this is a Ode to Santa Anita on their big day

with only five. In this field.

This equality field, K idea field uh exhilarated Keeneland

here. Yeah, it's unbelievable.

You can toss Society Society has to be on the lead to win and she

ain't getting to the lead in this field.

You can throw her out, you know, how can you how can you bet

against good night Oliver? I mean I think this is a free

Square in your pick for and your big five.

She's either she won the the Filly and mare Sprint at

Keeneland last fall. She's got irad.

She's got Chad who's like 30% bringing back horses like this

that this is a very nice field. I think you know I didn't like

the one horse two through five are are all going to be grade?

1 winners at some point two of them already are but but how can

you how can you bet? Hence, good night.

Oliver, I agree with Dan that there's only two strategies

here. You use, good night, Oliver and

move on. Or you think a horse like you

here. He's going to have a huge day

for some reason, right? And she's got great wet form.

Let's see her, do it over a fast track at Keeneland on Saturday

65 degrees, you know, Sonny, you know, under fantastic housewife,

Ricardo Santana, jr. But I, um, I would, and I think

it's once in a while, it's okay to admit, there's a best horse

in the race. And in this case, we have it in.

Her name is good night. Absolutely, okay.

Okay. Well, and then again, I do think

that, by the way, I read going to spend the whole meet at

Keeneland. Oh, nice.

Stay in the whole month, I think that's I I think that eventually

leads to him riding at Churchill, as well.

By the way. I think there's a chance because

of the purses, he ends up. Not leave not leaving church

building their the one horse that we did not mention.

Who I would also say, you know, you know, look out for is Mary

Quite Contrary, he just wins. Yeah, that's all she.

She just went. I agree with.

You. Got leukopenia.

Chia board. So I love the Italian as well.

And for that race that I love company G.

That's but that's the kind of horse that finishes second or

something. Absolutely, it makes it a 92,

you know, 921 kind of exact and that's where you can really

evaluate. All right, we're gonna move to

shakertown Stakes here. You ever been to Shaker count,

Dan multiple times. I need to take me to turn the

butter. Shea cartoon.

All right. He's a, can you take Peter gonna

get onto this one? Louis hitted you like in this

race? This is a 300,000 our purse,

great, 25 and a half. Furlongs on the turf.

I think Caravelle is a deserved favorite here, but I do think

Artemis. City Limits is an interesting

horse. Here has never won at Keeneland

but it's, because she's run against unbelievable Talent.

She lost a golden palace on this course, she lost to it at a

Kentucky Downs race by a neck to Bran, who was a very fine turf

wars as well. Random that Breeders Cup Turf

Sprint, last year under Juan Hernandez, ran, Fifth and that

people forget that finished with such a blanket.

I think there were several Them horses within three lengths of

Caravelle at the end of that one.

We were there for that one on that Saturday.

I think that she's sometimes in these races a horse that's 64,

23 lifetime 4416 on the turf. I mean, 13 times.

She's hit the board in 16 Turf races, so she's gonna be there.

Yep, that's kind of the point. And so I think caravels a

favorite here, but I'm gonna include Artemis city limits as

part of my taking this. Well, he's gonna be there,

excuse me. What am I saying?

Caravels the is the lady amongst the men here.

Dan, do you think she can get it done?

Well, sure she can get it. Done.

I mean, she's as you said, she's very consistent on the grass and

the three of us saw that race when she won the Breeders Cup

race. But there are some horses in

here, I'm spreading in this race, okay?

Because I'm only going to use two or three horses in the

Bluegrass. And I'm and I'm and I'm

sprinkling. Goodnight, Olive and so, I might

I might hit the all Burger in this race expensive all Burger.

Urging horses. Retire, often portrays on the

grass. Carol Bells coming back after a

layoff. She doesn't have to win this

one. I think there's a bunch of

horses at that. Have a shot in this race.

So I'm going to use plenty of them.

I'm gonna, I'm gonna go Reporter here.

Are you ready? Yes.

Sources. Nobody listens the also eligible

in this race ship today from Indianapolis is on site of

Keeneland. So if there is a Watch the 13 is

running if you want to see a horse break from a gate, like

you've never seen in your life. Outside of a quarter horse race

by people, go back and watch the big daddy.

Steaks on my birthday. March 11th at Turfway Park.

They ran a race named after me on your birthday.

Correct, that was nice. I agree.

You want to see a horse run over six furlongs that doesn't need

any more than five-and-a-half go back and watch that race. 12:40

if that horse gets in the field, go ahead.

Your boys telling you 10. The board, there's your boom, do

it. Yep. 17 if he gets in which, by

the way that's what Dan's talking about.

A horse. Like that can win this race.

He's fast enough. Yep.

That's Dan's point. And so I agree with him on that

part. All right, so we're going to

move on to a blue grass Stakes, which it already sounds.

Like, the two of you all are totally totally disagree on.

You know, we're going to see tappet rice Pleasures.

Other horse right now. Other other other horse.

Yeah, other horse. You know, I look at this field

and I think we got a lot of horses that we could see, run on

the first Saturday. May I don't think we're going to

see by this race who I would anticipate seeing up front in

the, the first activate the The Blue Grass Stakes has not been a

good indicator of Derby success recently.

And I don't see any reason why this is not going to continue

with this field. So I'm interested here to here,

dance. Take on his two or three horses

that he's going to put in his in his, alright?

So before Dan goes, how many do you have here?

Dan? He said to you, I appreciate

three, okay? I know who he has on top because

he and I are going to be expert expert contributors to the

Herald-Leader this week. So here's I want everyone in the

world to understand what's about to happen.

The Herald-Leader asked a couple of weeks ago.

Hey, we're going to go find a bunch of basketball experts, who

do media in Kentucky, okay? And did not invite Dan Issel,

what 30 of them, 30, 30 people got invited, what no Dan Issel,

do immediate do media and Kentucky do need.

But you should we have been Roberts on every week every week

and Ben Roberts covers horse racing.

Okay, now the 30 out of 30 people dance 31st.

Okay, we go. We go horse racing today, Dan

gets in. So I'd like to point out, horse

Racing's better. The basketball there.

I said it, I'm listening, I'm sure you stay under 10k.

If you're talking to media in this state and danis was part of

the beauty of the state, that's the top, that's it, right?

It's well, it's not even that, it's just like, I understand the

relationship that you all have with the guys at the hair Riot

and and they all know how much Dan love horse racing.

And I, you know, when you think about the second all-time

leading scorer in the ABA, the leading scorer in Kentucky

basketball history degree, better leading rebounder and

Kentucky basketball history. Look the best in the short

shorts with felt on, you know, I just, I can't even imagine the

best with three missing teeth. It's all it's all thing.

It's Mike, tell you, he was, it was great.

I mean, he told me He refines this topic here.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me. I'm going to guess that he

thinks tappet rice has a legitimate shot as well.

There, one blazing sevenths. Yep.

Okay, you got it. I'm real close to leaving

blazing sevens out. Okay, it was he was a really

nice two-year-old but man that first race back as a

three-year-old, that was too bad to be believable.

I mean if he's that bad Chad I wouldn't be running him here so

I agree. I like I like verifying.

I think he was that he doesn't have a very good mud number and

that that race in the rebel was a really a multitrack and he was

too close to, to a hot Pace that day.

Tap, it tap, it twice is going to be a big big favorite, okay?

And it'll probably win the race but Watch the his race down in

Florida. He he has a habit of not

breaking fast, not breaking coming out of the gate and he

and I know he's on, it was only his third start, but man, was he

just running in spots when he ran.

He ran really good here, but I'm going to try to beat him with

verifying. That's probably stupid, but but

but I think verifying can get Get that done.

I'm you know, that's Brad, Brad Cox and Tyler Gaffney own.

That's pretty good competition. I mean I think a lot of people

feel that way about to have a try so that the the immaturity

the horse could be his downfall but it hasn't been so far

doesn't matter. So I mean that that horse has

been able to rise above the fields that he's gone against

and after he won that allowance race at Gulfstream Park.

I mean he was abuzz. I mean he that's probably the

best he's fired. So funny goes to terms of

timpani shows, it's not a big deal, right?

I mean, yeah. Well Again, I think that a lot

of people were very critical that Rod or that race and just

think like, kind of what Dan said like there were sometimes

you just seemed uninterested but then when he seems interested

that horse looks just immensely talented.

It's just whether or not he can pull that all together in this

race for even on the first Saturday in May so bad.

The breeding sucks. I mean it's just not not a well

bred horse. Yeah it was only as a yearling.

The only one point three million dollar purchase.

That's right. All right, folks, I'm gonna give

you money. Okay, if you would like money,

listen to me. I'm at the point in my life by

my life. I mean this year.

I am watching eight or nine hours of horse racing replays

and workouts a week right now. Okay, I was gonna, if you're

gonna see a day, not a day, not was I had to concerned about

you, man, the 11 mendelssohn's March, who is a problem, man,

that horse is a problem. He wins on Turf to break his

Maiden by disqualification, and he got it by the way.

Legit DQ that other horse was trying to wrestle him.

Okay, comes back run. Ones in a to turn sloppy.

Obstacle claimer hundred thousand dollar not available

for claim under Francisco area. Go back people KOA do your job.

Go back and watch that race. No reason at Horsham one.

He's on the rail, he's stuck on the rail in the slop.

He gets mud kicked in his race. In his face, the entire race.

The entire has the jockey changes his goggles five times.

And he just slides up, the rail, Francis was like, Hey, we're

gonna go up the rail, there's no space, but we're gonna do it.

He's like, yeah, no problem. Okay. 12:40 take your money

across the board $10 just Stitch.

There's your money. So I do that.

Okay. By the way, raise Cain is the

other horse that no one's talking about.

It was again on a wet track. I get it in the Gotham.

Because it's only Thursday or what?

No, because I mean know that that go watch a race.

I did see the Gotham. You know, I I'm shocked that

raise Cain is that it's in Kentucky.

I just, you know, I'm surprised they didn't give him any work

for the would, I agree with that.

I'm, I was really surprised by that because he probably had a

much better chance in the wood than he did in this race.

But at the end of the day who will make it to the connector,

because he's got 50 points. But this sources metal since

March, I want you to notice it. Here people make Peaks got three

horses. Two of them are being written by

guys, who have no jockey trainer stats with him.

None Bryant Hernandez is his guy they have 261 rides together the

last year 261, he's putting his best Rider on this horse.

It's not an accident. He has other horses in this

field with lower morning. Lines, pay attention.

This is 20. You're going to get 12 21.

He's not going off at 21, that's not happening but you're going

to get 12 to 1 on this horse. Take advantage.

Okay, there you go. So Louise all about it.

Bye. The way in race 11, just use the

one in the three, in the maiden race in the turf race in you'll

be fine. Just do that.

I mean, I'm a little surprised that we didn't hear anything

about the five horse in this race from Dan.

Oh God. I don't even know what to do.

Okay, let me talk about hey string, okay.

It is a connect. It isn't it is it a Kinect

called? Yep.

We talked about him because we've been doing the Maryland

shows. Yep.

So he ships and he does a Preakness prep in the private

terms, right? And I said they're going to use

this to move on and get back. On the Derby Trail.

I just, I want to, I want to see him without Lasix go ahead and

win that another race. Okay, that's it.

That's the whole thing with a string.

I think is absolutely got a shot here, but if you liked a strike

better than Mendelssohn, whatever his name is Angela

Markham mendelssohn's March, he'd have Bryant Hernandez jr.

Were you at the you were at the W of medicine.

Oh yeah. Grant.

We had those irish guys in front of all about they were the

biggest also. Yeah, that was his pick.

I thought that all that work out.

Lock. He only UAE Derby by about 18

links so I can I can understand why they were excited about him.

They were ready for him. Yep.

Yeah. It was crazy.

I am by the way, it didn't come up with with John, but I'm very

happy that in the Santa Anita Derby.

The Japanese horse, Mandarin hero actually shipped, and

they're going to run him in the Santa Anita Derby.

I don't think he wins, but I Love that there's more man.

What a story would be if he does of course he great be all let's

go under a Japanese writer and camera that would be

unbelievable. I mean he might have some pride

there, I don't know. Like, maybe you bring up the

fact that it's from San Diego. Yeah, let's go talk.

We're gonna go to Aqueduct. We're going to talk about.

Show me the show she real quick. I'm all over the place.

Okay. All right, we're gonna go we're

going to start with Race 3 which is the gazelle.

It's a mile and an eighth on the dirt for three-year-old

Phillies. So who do we like here in the

gazelle? It's the easiest single ever

should have booty baby. Let's go get a boutique in a

boating. Let's go Dan.

Who do you like that's me single this.

Thank you. I agree, I think Dan should have

OD. He can't.

Oh sorry I move man. I would you have said that

horses named am I. I wouldn't have said it.

I will let them the Linguistics guy but she is a beauty, okay?

She is a beauty. See producer, Zack.

What are we doing now? I don't know either.

I'll see him after dad's gone back to a bright.

Listen to Give a Little Love to because we did talk about this

last time when she had a booty one, the butcher give a little

love to capela though as a potential on this race as well.

So we'll move on then to the next one, a culture series horse

to right. Yeah.

One the Busan to going the two turns, but a little bit of a

layoff here, obviously, Chad Brown does well off the layoffs,

I want, this is another, I think that the trainers giving away

who he likes more, his percentages are higher with

Dylan Davis, but his number Firs are considerably higher with

Manny Franco. So I think he's telling you,

I've got many Franco on this horse, and that's why I think

she's a winner. All right, we're going to move

on to the Carter handicap, which is a grade one.

Is it a great one? Louis.

This version, yes. Not close.

Dan says not close. It's a great to - okay, the

Carter handicap, which is the seven furlongs to print on the

dirt four year olds and up. We do have Y tu Barrio and I was

going to say people, I just what a Barrio go ahead and drink.

I um I look y de Barrio runs in the cigar mile losses by ahead

in the absolute sloppiest of slop over this track.

I adore the fact that they brought this horse back up for

this race, okay? I think it's just the absolute

best spot for him. They put them in an apps and

Optional clamor last timeout. It Go stream?

He beats Weyburn. By the way, I feel horde a half

legs and often claim that is optional flavor.

Just just sits there. Waits, Waits Waits his turn.

Tyler says, hey buddy. It's time to go a little flick

flick. Well, I mean, will flick flick

interesting because I mean all early on, this sword is great.

We went 14 hours first five races and I think they, and then

he hasn't won since outside that only on top.

So claimer, they needed that horse to feel what it was like

to get out there win. This is, this is the the Win.

A grade one is a three-year-old and a grade one is a

four-year-old that puts him in a very different spot.

Why do Barrios breeding, by the way, race day they brought in

for 5 grand. Yeah, they bought this horse for

forty thousand dollars made over a million bucks.

I mean we talked about horses of a lifetime, you know, Dan this

is this is one of those well, if he probably is already there,

but if he wins this race that puts him in the breeding shed if

not in Kentucky, certainly in Florida.

Yeah, right. And I think the only The only

other horse you have to use than this race and that's why I say

as a very weak grade one, the only other horse you have to use

is repo rocks. Who likes who likes Aqueduct is

14 times there and only problem with him though is this distance

for some reason he's 1 for 12 and it just for some reason, the

seven furlongs just doesn't work for him.

I don't know if it's not long enough, not short enough,

whatever. And so I just for me, man, I

think why the Barrios in an unbelievable spot here.

And if you can get better than two one, go, go go.

All right, then we're going to move on to the 100-point race

that probably means the lease but what moral go ahead.

Ed. All right, so the wood there it

is. That's all I got Jack.

Come on, Jack. All right, so we got his pick.

What? So Dan wants me to guess who I

you picked? Is that what you said?

No, I love it. Oh, I like a maiden.

I like a maiden in this race. Yeah you like the one dream like

right? Yep.

Yeah that's a great. It's a great pick.

I'm totally with Dan made and after I would pick hit show hit

show is a lot of plus it has a lot of pluses will probably be

the favorite has already Mile and an eighth one.

The withers by five and a half Franco is riding it like 25% at

aqueduct. So far, they've even, but I hate

that 13 post. I really 12, if that makes you

feel any better, but it shouldn't so dreamlike Maiden

after two starts, but his numbers are really good.

Trained by Pletcher. Jose Ortiz.

Has a ride on this one? And the reason I like this horse

at, see, if this makes sense. This horse is owned by the same

partnership role. Holy and st.

Elias, oh yeah. Sure.

Atone for Tech. So if they thought that this

horse that they were pushed in this horse, this isn't Derby

fever. They've already got the favorite

in the, in the derby. A lot of these horses in this

field are in the field because their connections have Derby

fever and they're going to take a shot Pletcher, Andhra Poli and

st. Elias don't have to do that.

So, I think this horse has got A real shot to win to win, the

would totally agree with an. I would also, I would also use

the outside horse here in the 13 hit show is going to be breaking

from the 12. I think of Milan 1/8 is enough

time to make up the distance here day and I think that

especially that long stretch at Aqueduct.

Those long sweeping turns, I think he'll be just fine.

I wanted to and I have not done this in a very long time.

Okay, tell me. I'm going to give out a pic for

at Aqueduct before they bulldoze the place.

Okay, are you ready? Yes, great.

I'm singling y de Barrio on the Carter.

Okay, okay, in race 9, we didn't talk about it.

I'm using the two in the sixth, okay?

Anybody price on that one. There is no.

Okay, the next race is where I think the price is, is I'm

punching all in race 10K at Aqueduct.

I'm using the one in the 13. That's a 22 dollar pick for very

playable at at all the at the big.

A if you will in Ozone Park, Dan, if you've been to Ozone

Park, Probably double digits. Attaboy, were you at the

Breeders Cup? There I was it was the it was

the second Breeders Cup first, the first Woodbine right saying

Anita sending. Okay, we were in the playoffs

and so I didn't get to go to that one.

But we were the season was over for breeder Breeders Cup.

Number two and I went and I went to I saw that Aqueduct and tasso

tassel. Who did now?

I can't remember who it was but was it storm?

Cat might have bet that sounds right.

Actually might but tassel run one, the one, the two-year-old

race and I and I bought a share in tasso and I don't think he

ever won another race. You'll the Old Dan Issel.

Death knell there, there you go. Well I mean I know Dan misses me

a lot. So That's always really excited

to come back to Louisville and, you know, head to the graces

with us. When he comes in person, we'll

get to see each other. A lot that week, I will say for

people who listen to this show Dan.

And I and I think you're going to try to hang out every day.

I'll be out there most days. Yeah, for sure.

Dan. And I are they will be the hard

day. Money will be the tough day.

How hard will it be? Huh, I get in the mid 40s.

The um Dan and I will be out there 10 to noon Monday, through

Friday live from Churchill on Derby week.

Well I will make sure I understand.

Yeah we'll make sure all that happens and that's going to be a

horse racing, happy hour takeover of ASL and Louise.

So we will have fun the whole week that way Dan and I will do

backside stuff money through. See what I did there, Monday

through Wednesday and then third starting on Thursday will be up

in 322 in our normal spot in 65 and 66 at our table made sure

that we had the same spot as we always do.

What is it like to be on the back side?

When you're Dan Issel, just like, I love the backside,

Churchill Downs of you. Backside.

I love the backside Derby week. Oh, just every week and then,

but, you know, I'm not getting like, you know.

Yeah, right, no one, hears, that you're back there.

Romney like this. The normal people, you say, hi

to and whatever else, but like, is it a little much for you to

be on the back side. Derby week, Dan.

Now, I see, I see a lot of people I see once a year, so

it's a lot of fun. I mean, I love it.

It's so much. So that will be 10 to noon

Eastern Monday, through Friday. And then Saturday, we'll have an

11:00 to 2:00 Eastern. You have actually have it done.

Backside of a ton, not radio and not it frankly, just in general,

no, no. Because you've always had

carpool and all this other stuff, and that's why.

You know what I did? I took, I took control of my

house this year and I said, baby sad baby, guess who's going to

be back side every single day. Me and we'll see you later.

Get the Hall of Famer out of here who needs a Hall of Famer

besides me every single day, Monday through Friday.

There it is. All right, so we got, we got

three big believe. I get to host radio with that

guy. Yeah, I can't believe it no, but

it's ridiculous, right? No, nothing is ridiculous.

Okay, fair enough. All right.

So we were sitting here and we got 300 point races, you do pay

a new show up. So there's that farewell

probably less than his head to be a pension, to be fair to Dan

Issel, real question for you. Yeah.

What do you think some more likely story line, coming out of

the weekend? We've got for Derby contenders

or holy crap, out of that horse, win this race.

Well, we definitely want to have four Derby contenders.

I think we'll get a whole you think Angela vampires.

Not a Derby Contender. I think that style Fabien Pratt

Pratt comes in fourth one. So that would be if like a

forte. Let's say, practical move wins.

Yep, right. And then we get in the we get

tappet rice winning, cabbage. Rice to me, would have to win

and show like You know, we talked about some of these

horses looking like they're Pros.

Yeah, and we, let's say, he runs a 97th Street.

He's gonna have to come out and really take control that race.

Just look like a stud in The Paddock.

All that kind of stuff for me to think that he's a legit Derby

Contender. So I think we have three German

contenders How dare you twist my question?

I didn't twist your so you think practical moves?

When I've been practicing moves, when I do too, I think we're

going to get a long shot probably in the wood.

Okay, we'll probably get a really long shot, that wins the

wood, and I think we could potentially get along each other

once a week. I think we get a long shot.

The Bluegrass, not the wood. Okay, yeah, yeah, that's me.

Okay, kids, I could see that either one.

Yeah, I mean, we're going to see, we're going to see

something kind of crazy this weekend, and I do, you think

we've got, we've got Forte, and we've got a little, we got a

step down or practical move, and then, I think we've got really

stepped on an even bigger. Step down the Age of Empire, and

then, there's a and then I'll eat a bat.

Rice's that fourth horse. And then I think it's a, it's a

drop off after that. What are you rooting for?

Are you rooting for three, dominating performances and a

bunch of chaos? I honestly, I'm rooting for the

whole Triple Crown season or just this weekend.

What do you want me for? I'm rooting for practical move,

big time. I want to see.

I want to see practical. Maybe put in a big effort and

that's really think the Derby's better when the sanity the Derby

winner is legit, right? We'll just have a girl would

like where we have Forte impractical move our like,

looking like that's the story line, those two horses, I think

that's really what I want to see.

And then people start talking about angel vampire just you

know say oh yeah. But you can forget about that

horse. Yeah.

But I think it's going to be those three and then tap, at

Rice Winston, we'll see what happens.

But you know, All these other three year olds to me, just been

way too inconsistent. The good thing about the horses

that we're talking about outside of Tim yachting, people know the

trainer's. Yep, right.

And we're talking about star power on that end.

And so, at least, though, with practical move, you get the good

story of a Ramon Vasquez, right? So, there are two sides of horse

racing. The people that we know and then

the people that are the good stories, right?

And, so remind, remove Vasquez can absolutely be that guy.

And so, I made those are I was happy to hear John say they're

gonna have to grow by that guy on the horse and I always right

he runs his best races with even close so I hope I hope that's

absolutely the case. I mean we knew we were going to

get a pleasure Brad Cox more than likely sure in this in this

Derby. So yachting again I will be

really hard for yachty. I'll either be really hard for

40 who I think could be legit Triple Crown winner and this

with this group of three year olds.

Hmm or I would love to see you acting.

Pull it off without Out, having won a bad words horses, like

being able to do it on his own. Do you feel bad for the other

horses that would have Barrios one running this weekend is

going to take the spotlight off of them?

I mean, why do Barrio is? That's all he is.

I mean he if why did borrow watch the door, nothing else

matters. You know, must be nice for the

Derby. Winner Y tu Barrio grade.

One is a three-year-old chance at a great one as a for you

there. It is Pretender, I think he gets

it done. I mean I can attend her.

How many rounds are we going to go?

Zack? Get on, get online.

Get on screen here. How many First off, I think,

when we do the Derby draft this year, it's you and me picking.

And then I think we should have a different celebrity guest

picker for the that other pick every single, you know, the

first pick would be this person, you know, we're bringing.

Oh hyper that and then we're like six people sit in, or

something or seven people. Yeah.

But they're all picking for that in that same like so, yes,

bigger slot. Yeah.

So you get one, I get one then. Celebrity picker kind of thing.

Yeah. Or you know whoever however gets

to draw we might, you know, snake draft, the thing.

Whatever we had to do something like that.

Yeah, well the snakes not gonna matter whole bunch after the

first snake. But yeah, we said that last year

and then restrict won the Derby. Yeah, I like and I should the

way are captured at last year was awesome.

So, what do you think about that?

You think you like the celebrity guest Pickers?

I do like that. That option.

Yeah, right the ways we did the show.

Kevin killed. Would you say yes, as long as we

get racing Rachel? That's what we need to do is go

like Sherpa. Rachel flatter just to offend

people. Yeah.

Like you. Hey, you like, you know, just

yeah. John Lindo little past.

Yeah, I know, I'm just trying to think what, so, Kevin Kilroy was

just on. I know that he'll he'll jump,

but Kevin's gonna be in town, for two weeks.

He's on the team, the Derby. So he's hanging out.

Christine, he's going to come with us Two Chefs cut on the

Wednesday at every week. I'm having a lot of fun.

How about that? Yeah.

So the usual don't like when must have in the draft Danil

man, baby. Who must we have in the draft

danil. Me service.

Oh, do you know what? That's not about elements and

obvious woman. Yeah, good job.

Kasich on here. We'll load up.

I mean, we, we got a lot of celebrities.

I mean it seems an obvious one, right?

No. You know what?

You know how. Like we leaving?

This will out? No, no.

We excluding missile from this process yet.

Probably, yeah, damn, right. The drought is so, you're out.

I like the idea of, you know, how.

Like, I know you're not big WWE guy, but like, when they have

the Royal Rumble, like, you always get back.

I don't And this this what this mention Zach knows what the

Royal Rumble is like when they have like they bring a wrestler

down one at a time. It's like 30 guys in the ring

and they're like, you know, so it's one guy comes in every 30

seconds, right? It starts with took.

I like that a lot. So, but they always have the

surprise guy and I want the surprise guide to be Ed DeRosa.

That's the guy I want Ed to Rosa and why would it not be Travis

Stone? I mean Travis don't would come

on. He's been on the show before.

Yes comes from I want a new guy he's never been shown one

DeRosa. Okay.

You know what? David levithan?

Yeah. I mean it's gonna be yeah.

Maybe we don't pick it all we just get 20 people to pick the

derby driving like different. Every draft.

That's not a terrible idea either.

Maybe we do three and no. No.

Not. Now we're getting into like the

inside baseball of it, but we'll get a green screen tuna.

Put the we can electronically, put the Derby draft behind you.

Yeah. While you're talking your way

through like it. All right.

Well listen it's been an awesome show.

If you don't. Okay.

Brandon Smith, right? Let's go.

I think we're going to be him Derby week.
