It kind of rolls with it too this weekend.

And you're a Maryland kid and you grew up here.

What does what does Preakness mean for people here?

It's actually so much fun this weekend.

I'm really excited for it because it you get to see the

whole thing. There's nothing in the infield.

It's really like people who love racing want to go racing.

This to me, is the best Preakness ever.

So I think everyone still has the buzz.

They're curious what it's going to be like, but it's going to be

greatness. You're going to have horses

running full cards, great fields, and perfect weather.

Yeah, no, it's going to be really, really good stuff.

Today's card, of course the the the card before the card, but

man, like you said, filled out really, really well.

I love this weekend because it's great threes and listed stakes

and I hate, you know, I, I, if someone hears me putting that

down, that's not what I'm doing. I think it makes for a much

better betting weekend. And frankly, you bring in

horses, you get everybody up and down the East Coast, you get a

bunch of Asmussen horses, you get a bunch of, you know,

shippies from, you know, Louisiana, that kind of stuff as

well. This card today, is there a race

other than the Black Eyed Susan that stood out as one that

you're especially interested in? Every single one.

Maybe like a mispreach this or something where we meet those

undercard 3 year olds or, you know, something like the

Hilltop. I've always thought of as a fun,

you know, 3 year old Philly kind of turf race.

Race 9 today where you get some horses that may develop into

better turf runners by the fall or maybe just weren't up to the

task of being like in a modesty or at Edgewood, you know, at

Churchill Downs, that kind of thing.

What do you make of that race today?

Look, I'm a huge fan of Ultimate Love and I was all on board with

her after I saw her on debut and I was really touting her coming

over here to Laurel for that second start and then going to

the Salima and I went up are at Fair Hill and I was like a

little fan girl and I stand by. She did not have an easy trip in

the Breeders Cup. She's as classy a Philly as you

can find favorite in the. Breeders.

Cup she to me just really, really impressive, so I go ahead

and say that getting back here she really is going to get off

and running on a good foot. I do use another course in the

Pick 5 because I will absolutely forgive her.

I love her that much if she needs a race off the bench, but

if she can get out there, she finds her breath, she finds her

rhythm. She's just as honest as they

come. Who's the other horse?

Coach Missoula. That's who I have on top.

Talk us through. It she's one who just seems to

kind of be coming into her best and it sounded like she was

maybe a little quirky, Took some time to figure her out.

But now that they have her, she's how to start off the

bench. And that's where I kind of give

her a little bit of an edge because I really liked the way

she finished up. She can kind of sit a little

closer. Speed's been working well on the

turf and to me, you know, facing the older company for the first

time off the bench, huge questions to answer and she did

it all. Yeah, no, she totally did.

Hey, beyond Toledo capes, the amount there for Betrayinger,

Brittany Russell, that local combination only wins at 31% at

Laurel Park. So something to think about

there for sure. The the Alaire DuPont is up next

afterward, and that's for three and up.

It's essentially, you know, the the undercard major race, two

turns on the dirt for older female horses.

I love Waveless in here coming out of Aqueduct for Todd

Pletcher. She'll break from the seven

Queen Aztecas in here in the six hole for Rudy Berse and Flavian

Pratt. Does anyone else stand out to

you? In here.

It so Queen Azteca and Margie's intention now.

Margie's intention when she faced all her company for the

first time. Don't you just have to give her

ten extra credit points for who she was up against?

So Margie's intention will break from the 2 hole here.

I read Ortiz rides. Is there a reason then to maybe

try to play against her in this spot given you know what the

price is going to be? Would you look at a, you know, a

Queen Azteca, something like that?

And stuff. Oh, I do.

I use both of them. OK, I could not necessarily

separate them. I can't use one without the

other. Queen Azteca is drawn outside.

She ends up with the opportunity to kind of go ahead set the

speed. Now I don't necessarily know but

I thought flashy enough number last time out.

She's one who just kind of keeps improving.

So to me, 4 year old with plenty outside.

Local horse here, Complexity Jane.

We've seen her at a mile and a 16th and at a mile and an

eighth. She won the carousel here over

very similar conditions to what she's going to see.

She got a shot here today. I actually do think she does.

And you know, I'm curious what the price we end up getting on

her because I kind of want her to drift up just a little bit.

But she's been very good. She's grown up a lot coming into

her four year old year and to me she makes sense.

I just think that she needs to be a huge value for me to kind

of go ahead and use her huge meaning I need like 10 to 1, OK?

Yeah no, I think that's a fair I think that would be a square

price for sure Let's move to the the feature today race 13 on the

card is the Black Eyed Susan mile and an 8th starting at the

same spot that they finish here over the mile and an eighth

course at Laurel Park. 3 year old Phillies in here.

I love this race every year. It might be my favorite race on

the weekend every year because I feel like every year we meet a

Philly that just was a little off the radar but is just as

capable as so many of the other dirt routers in the country,

especially in the three-year old Philly ranks.

Of course, I mean it just so, so many.

And this is an interesting kind of fascinating field of horses

that are going to try to either repeat performances like they

did in the Weaver City Miss or you know, a my Miss MO who's

just been missing and graded company.

Who did you land on here? I went my Miss MO because you

know, maybe they will go ahead and send her, but I just take a

look at what she did on the inside both of those races.

She just sort of had to kind of get up there.

I think she can kind of play the break here today.

Really, really like the setup for her to take a step forward

in that second off the bench has reason to take another step

forward here again and just facing the right company.

So to me, she's really the one to beat.

And you mentioned in the previous segment, she's going to

break from the outside. Someone might see that 10 hole

and think, Oh my gosh, that's not, you know, the outside draw

here. No good.

You actually see it as positive. Yeah, I mean, she's just kind of

had to use that speed early on, and then she's been knocking

against the door with really, really tough horses.

She has other speed in here and that's where I think it works to

her advantage because she can cruise right along, but they

don't have to use Oliver to get out.

And no, I mean, going the distance here, you actually have

room going into the first turn. The mile and an eighth is very

different from the mile and a 16th as far as that

configuration goes. You know Amelia Green very well,

she's based here in the Mid-Atlantic and you know, 72

starts this year. Not a huge number here at Laurel

Park, but someone that you see around here, our guy Barry

Spears has Ivy girl on top in the Black Eyed Souza today.

Is he a crazy person? I could not single my Miss MO

because I needed to have Ivy girl in there.

Isn't she just too much? You look, although I don't know

if we're going to get 15 to 1, no.

It's alright. She's already downtown one.

It's Yeah, I'm ruining it on this show too.

Like the the state of Kentucky's going to bet on this horse.

Yeah. But I mean, you just look at her

and you think she's begging from work around.

She's begging for a pace collapse.

And isn't that exactly what she gets?

She just got there going a mile and a 16th.

Why doesn't it just fall into her lap here?

No, I think I think that is absolutely on the the page.

OK, so if you were playing the old Black Eyed Susan, Preakness

double, Kentucky, one of the most popular vets is the Oaks

Derby double for sure. If we're doing the Black Eyed

Susan and Preakness, double those two horses for you.

The two and the 10 today. Yes.

OK. Would you add a third?

Is there one in here? I have Holly's holiday on top,

for example. I mean, is there another one in

here that you would have? It would be either Holly's

Holiday or savor it for crazy price, OK?

But talk to me about savor it then.

She's one, I really don't know, she was just one where I

thought, hey, maybe I go ahead and use her at a price because

it was just like, if I'm trying to head to that.

If I'm playing the double though, which I think I am with

the two and the 10, I actually want to use more horses with

Preakness. Yes, OK, got it.

OK, so let's talk about that Preakness.

We will not have you on tomorrow.

Race 13 on Saturday's card here at Laurel Park will be the mile

and 316th Preakness, $2,000,000 on the line here. 3 year olds in

here. Are you leaning more toward

horses that shot for the Preakness or ones that came out

of the Derby, do you think? Oh, I'm actually split pretty

evenly so. True Preakness then frankly,

right. I mean that's really what I

think of is the very best spring 3 year olds at least do qualify

for the do I think that's fair to say, but it doesn't mean that

there isn't a new shooter that can be really interesting in the

Preakness. It's cool to hear that you

you're kind of mixed up that. I do.

And because I think a lot of it comes down to were they able to

get to the Derby at the right time?

I mean, you think about horses who they got there because they

earned points early and they were able to gather those fair.

So I maybe take a little bit of a more moderate approach to

they're the best 3 year olds at the time because I think some of

them are just kind of sitting on that next step forward.

Yeah, no. And Golden Tempo's best race was

what, 3 months before the Derby? 3 1/2 months before the Derby,

something like that. So I hear you on that.

Who amongst the the non Derby horses do you like the most?

So Taj Mahal, I think, you know, have to use him and then Chip

Pancho, one who I'm a little bit on the fence about, but the hell

we did is a hell yeah for me. OK, so the hell we did out of

the Lexington there a second place finisher short stretch.

They're going to get plenty of stretch here.

Todd Fincher And this is a a relative, of course, of Senor

Bouscador, which is an interesting combination.

But boy, you give me Louis size. I'll bet on that horse any day.

Doesn't he fit the horse so well?

Oh my gosh. Well, and I, you know, I see

that on paper, right? Have you seen the horse yet?

Yeah, of course I was there for the race.

Yes, that's right. I forget Kentucky.

Oh, you're good. That's OK.

So you're good. It's.

All right, So, you know, I thought it interesting on paper,

and then I saw him. Yeah, he's the real deal.

He looks incredible and I've loved watching him train every

single day. He's a beautiful mover.

He covers the ground so well. He just seems like a horse who's

going to get better with more experience going longer.

One of the things that stands out that's very different

usually in the two weeks between the Derby and this is that when

I, when I talk Derby with people, you'll hear about all

twenty horses. Oh, here's why I like this

horse. He's why I think there's they

come to the pregnancy here about three or four horses.

Not this year. Hearing about every horse this

year in the Preakness. I think as far as a betting

event tomorrow, I think the Preakness might, this might be

one of the better ones we ever have.

I have to agree with you. I mean, that's what happens when

you stick fourteen horses in the field who, you know, we really

don't have races to compare them against.

Very few of these have run against each other, even has

anyone run against each other more than once, and only a few

have faced each other once. It's it's very, very little head

to head kind of, yeah, kind of evidence for us to to look at

for tomorrow's race for sure. Yeah.

I can't, I can't express how happy I am that you get to do

that, that you get to be on simulcast for Grade 1 like the

Preakness. No, it's fantastic is you work

your ass off and and I appreciate that about you and

it's awesome that you're going to get that because it's a

complicated landscape as far as media right now in Maryland

around racing. And so you getting to be on the

simulcast for your state's most important race, I'm very, very

pleased. 1st is very, very kind to me and it's been great having

them back and sort of feels like a family reunion.
