Full Transcript

This week on the horse racing, a PR presented by Single Barrel,

Cigar Company Interstate Daydream made Pimlico our own

personal Highway by taking down the field in the black-eyed.

Susan, while despite weird action at the betting Windows

early, voting still want America's vote as the Preakness

winner. Well, the Crouton overnight at

church will have is this siding and finishes last year's race

potty makes her three-year-old debut in the great three soaring

softly at Belmont. Will she catch the paparazzi's

cameras in the world Circle stumbling through the triple

crown on our own. Unique and padded way the happy

hour starts right now. All right, welcome to the horse

racing, happy hour. I am Mike and off and I'm joined

by Louis Rebo and smoking smoking, fabulous - Vine.

And then I'm also very proud of JD who picked the right version

of Life as a highway, not the Rascal Flatts version because

right before I bring all the way, Rascal Flatts sucks.

Let's just oh, whoa, let's go flat.

The largest the largest overlap between music and what we do on

the show is country music, Believe It or Not.

Also there's it's a good thing that our largest demographic on

the show is not like the Karen's, you know, that

demographic because they love them Rascal Flatts.

I was at a concert that featured Rascal Flatts.

I wear remember, Headliners or not, but it was primarily moms,

and they were loving it moms. Love the restaurant are All moms

care. It's good to go Rascal Flatts.

Okay, not my wife. I can tell you that.

We're also the Mike, and I are also not out there so we would

have no idea. I mean, just no idea what women

really, and I just want you Pearl Jam not too long ago.

I'm hip. I'm cool.

All right, so, all right. So Louis you're enjoying your

cigar. I am nother.

Nice sniper, one of these, we will see if we get the show in,

in time for me to knock it rained on. 9:00.

So there you go. Ha ha join a special Barrel.

Pick of old Forester. Nice.

Yeah, which I'm liking it very much.

Megan back on the show The Enforcer right turned out to be

Megan's favorite. I think of last year itself.

Yeah, I do that. To me, cannot drink.

No, it's all right. I have water and these weird,

preggy pops, which I hate that. Pretty pops.

Oh no, Megan. It looks like you Pops.

Welcome to a few pops. We are not sponsored by The

Branding on this. They do.

They do seem to work a little bit.

So we get salty, Megan on a Thursday.

Let's go this like, Don't let it just makes me uncomfortable

that, right. I don't like that.

Let's go. Don't like it.

Are they like prenatal? Vitamin pops?

What are they know? They're like little sour Lawson

jizz that are supposed to he's morning sickness, which, which

is should be called all-day sickness, because that's what

should be about done with that almost.

Yeah, you would think so. Yeah, you'll be it won't be that

much longer. I did.

I did the doctor prescribed me. Zofran, which is supposed to

help medication but it is also, recently been linked to cleft

palates. So now I'm in the predicament of

like, do I give my child a condition or do I survive the

day? You know?

And I think what we're learning is Megan is having a girl and

the girl is probably treating Meghan like, Meghan, treated her

mother. So I mean, I think that's what's

happening. It's a great child was gold star

did nothing food. I talked about this last time we

hung out actually. Yeah, uh-huh.

I didn't ask. Visually, so that's that's the

thing. I didn't.

She's killing me. Now.

People supposed murder Michelle, Donna and her done.

Yeah, what color jade color change at us?

Tell me what I think we should have a new segment the show

though where you stand against the wall and like we Mark or

your belly is until we probably so many creepy people out there.

That would just I've think I agree with Megan.

I'll just do a feat pick segment if we're going to do that.

I mean, I'm open to it. Let's see ya.

Speaking of freakness. There we go.

Alright, let's talk about the previous Preakness just showed

how either incredibly there's so much parity in this world class

or that this real class is terrible and epicenter is the

not the horse that Megan thinks he is for sure.

So we go for that route flash. That is such a bad take.

He's I'm gonna smell a center. Epicenter, never wins.

A grade one again. What?

That's what? I don't think he wants drivers.

I don't think he thinks he won the Travers.

Either do you like I think he can win the Haskell before that?

All right. So let's talk real quick about

what we saw at the Preakness. It was of course early voting

would you back up because that was my cold pick Tom?

I was by the way, by the way Perfection.

Megan takes a nap during the black-eyed.

Susan, because of another no didn't take a nap was fell into

a what I have like to call pregnancy coma.

Apparently one of those you just develop like narcolepsy.

Oh pictures. I was like, I'm just going to

sit down for a second and then I realized that there's another

human being grown inside of you. Right?

Right. Yeah.

I'm just this is a lot growing here.

It is like a lot harder. Old and Omega Omega Juniors.

Doing work the right but I'm like, hey Megan, that was

unintentional Megan. Well, we're getting a great

number on your black-eyed. Susan picks.

I was like, you know what, this one of those opt-in races.

I'll just throw $10 on that horse just to do it.

And no, no, I still $72 back. There you go.

We good. There's also really great

because that morning Lois. And I were on ESPN Louisville

with Dan and we all of our picks.

Are you just on first name basis with this old?

Like hey, you know what? Dan just yeah, it's just me

again. I don't have insurance Dan, Dan

Issel. Is it about?

Is it embarrassingly big fan of Mega Divine?

Like because we put the humble brag of therefore, that JD as a

big time. Yeah.

Absolutely. We were to be a Hall of Famer.

I agree. Yeah, absolutely.

So anyways, we basically gave out with the exception of the

race that Chantal Sutherland decided to win.

That should have been the not this time.

Exactly what whatever we had the pick five like completely,

correct. And we went 566 actually.

Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. We're proud of sucks.

Yeah. We got a bunch of messages on

Twitter though. People who were just playing

race to race who had a great time and Megan, and I got if

Bryce Krispies, which is a great name on Twitter name is watching

or listening tonight. Shout out to you.

I know that you listen every Friday when we do the

handicapping, but you also listen to this show.

So we appreciate you. Right.

What's? Look at the stretch run real

quick of the blanket. Is it possible JD for us to pull

up the entire race for prequel? Are we gonna do the pre

treasure? You want to be a stretch over

the black-eyed? Susan though, right?

Oh, yeah. Yeah, let's do that.

Let's do that. Let's do that one first.

All right, here's the stretch run of luck has left to go and I

still gotta catch beguine. That Gene is in truant

Interstate Daydream on the outside and add are men are

driven hard and third Divine huntresses.

Next, in fourth, Luna Bell way back in wide into the stretch

here at Pimlico and it is Interstate.

Daydream is come to grab the lead from being second, ad are

man or working hard driven third position.

And if Allah by Divine Hunters, who's next in the final furlong,

It is Interstate Daydream a free Road home for Interstate

daydream in front by two and a half a day or men.

Are giving all s but s best to Interstate daydream in the

black-eyed. Susan at are better with second.

There It Is. By the way, really nice,

reminder real quick. Megan.

I'm so sorry that there are many people who are track announcers

for a living. And then there's Dave Rodman,

who's better at it than everybody.

That guy is a gold star, gold standard for our sport.

I love that guy. His calls and Court.

It all public. Oh and he played with names the

whole day Joe at Pimlico. I mean that guy put a goat.

I mean, just what a freak, a goat.

I mean, just the best. It's a good thing.

I'm sorry. He does nothing for me.

He's a guy. I am I I think he's a good

announcer. My goat is definitely my

coronavirus, but we know that I've said that I might have to

have them on the show for, as many times.

I've said his name on this show. Well, Denise to come on, for

sure. I agree.

I will definitely make that happen at some point.

But yeah, I thought the genome ran Really?

Well, obviously something happened.

She looks like she took a bad step and that stretch.

And so, but I mean she was, she had a lot of energy at the top

of the stretch and obviously Interstate de jure was chasing

her so had begin continued on. I think it would have been much

more competitive. Finish Adair manner, you know,

took a lot of action and did with a California horses, have

kind of done here that were transferred from the Bob,

baffert Barn, which is run a lot of like second and third Sorrel

or less. I was never a A local Louisville

fans, right was true. I just toss that so I thought it

played out pretty much exactly like, I, we talked that it

would, you know, in the, in the analysis.

So yeah, so if it wasn't for Megan Junior, you know, I'm

really hammered that one home. So but again, I need a runner.

I just listened hiring now. I will I need an assistant to

just for no leaves no money. I will just give you my son.

That's I'll give you money by. You have my pics and you're

just, you're painting pics. Yeah, exactly.

That's not bad. That's what I.

That's what I need. That's what he is.

So packed. The only person I've ever seen

you do that. What's up?

I don't know. It's a good.

Oh, I know why, okay. It's because Megan had me.

Pull up a race. Yeah.

For sure, don't you want to finish your thought?

Now? We can still hear you?

Yes, so Deport night when he's on the track.

Mmm. He 100% employees a runner.

He has never. I don't think he has ever placed

a bet on his own in his life. He always just has somebody

hands hands them a stack of money and has somebody uniform.

We don't want. That was part of my job at when

I was a runner production assistant for TVG before.

I did anything on are, was that pretty much?

It was just Todd trouble. You're like, okay, come here.

I need right now. Between races be like, okay, go

to the window and do this. Don't know why he was a betting

on a CG at but that's maybe that was before.

That was like a thing. But ya know, I but what are you

to do is give it at the beginning of the day because I

don't want any changes, you know, yeah, that's what we're

going with. Can't be like, during the races,

you're distracted. So, right away, we got an

update. Just so you guys know, we have a

goal. The Rangers are now up to 21.

I don't care know, if anybody cares, there's a Rangers Fan, I

am I couldn't tell by the Rangers sweater.

He's wearing Megan. If I'm wearing the Rangers water

like a, give him a moment, you know, you know, you know, this

is also so. So what do you want to do with

the pregnancy or making you want to talk over the race?

I want to talk over the race. Yeah, it.

So if you're, if you're listening, you need a tune in on

Spotify or go find the Twitter feed or something like that.

So you can see them or Co while May 2012.

People that are on Twitch, right?

Yeah, right. Yeah, whatever you want to do.

But this is this is the Brilliance of a game right here.

Whatever you want. Go back.

Yeah. Go back to the start.

Just part of that. We gotta go straight from the

from the gate. So, who had a fabric that you

did, you want. He doesn't get out of the gate.

Well, don't know it's frozen. Okay, and then he's gonna get.

So Joel, Rosario is trying to hustle them up a little bit, but

then he's gonna get in a spot right here.

Where now he's got horses in front of them right here, you To

see squeeze, he's gonna take back pretty sharply.

So, at this point they're about to come into the turn.

You can't do much here. You gotta tuck in save some

ground, you know, as they cross them to the wire and who is that

in front? The the I forget Armagnac.

There you go. Out there.

Easyweed early. Voting is just getting the

absolute perfect trip at this point.

Now, they're in the turn and Joel.

Rosario is just kind of saving some ground.

He doesn't have anywhere to go. You're not going to make a move

on the turn. If Thing, you're going to try to

get a little bit more aggressive on the, on the back side, right?

Of the track because you're not going to come out in a turn lose

ground and try to go up. So, at this point, I thought

maybe he would have been a little bit more aggressive.

You can see he's tucked in behind horses there behind.

I think that's creative minister in front of him.

Armagnac is just going strong. Early voting, you can see, Jose

has a ton of horse right here. He kind of looks behind him,

just check and make sure, but he's keeping early voting off

the rail again. Joel.

Rosario, just giving a really casual ride right now.

You've got some others that are really starting to move up, and

I thought he would have started to move a bit earlier.

I mean, even the horse on the outside, you can see he's urging

urging and I guess Joe. I was just waiting for a spot to

open up on the rail. But, at this point, let's see.

It's just about it was just about there at the quarter pole.

The spot does open up a little bit, but then they're coming in

on him a little bit. So I think it's right here.

Armagnac is going to get pretty Close to him.

Oh, now he does, he's fine there.

I thought it was just a little earlier, when they switch to the

different camera view. There was a point on the NBC

feed, when I was watching it where it looked like it got

tight again, but for a horse like this, he's never been that

far back in the race before and he still finished really strong.

He still came running. You just you leave too much to

do and we've talked about this on the show before.

I think it's a really, really important point.

And again, all credits up to early voting and Jose because

that was just a perfect, perfect ride at a great trip for the

horse. But it's so much about momentum

in this game and you don't have the same, you know, home stretch

that you have at Belmont or Churchill or even Keeneland,

right? And so when you, when you're

using the regular Finish Line and so you get in a situation

where you've got to make that move earlier, I I just was in

the notes and everything that Steve asmussen said he was just

flabbergasted that a rider like that would leave a horse that

much to do because it just it takes Time.

If you're a closer God, if they're not like, you know, it's

the same course, right? I mean, you could go from asthma

as a timeout, never going to get it even in the fast.

Awarded one first little while to accelerate and so I don't

know, I still think he's a super talented horse.

The way you came running at the end, convince me of that.

And, you know, but but we'll have to say, but it was just a

nightmare brutal, brutal trip. And, and credit to secret Oaths,

to, I think she ran pretty good. All things.

Is considered, right? I think simplification wins that

race. If he doesn't run in the derby,

I think he got the trip that would have worked.

I think he was right there in that stalking spot.

Yeah, I think it was just tired man.

And that's understandable. Frankly.

I don't think he was meant to run back-to-back like that and

that's okay. I mean II understand goal for

the Preakness actually with that horse.

That's fine. But I think, I think he's either

early, voting might win that race, no matter what, but I

think where he was in that position in that third lane

right there. Hanging out.

Ready to go into that. Second turn.

I don't know that he doesn't he doesn't pull, he doesn't pick it

off. But well he did Sana reported

that he did bleed in right missed.

So he they sent him to the farm for a rest there.

So that obviously, you know, wasn't his best race and, and at

a track like that, and a big race like that, especially when

you're not able to use Lasix. Now, with the rules makes a

really big difference for a horse like that that may have

had that problem for. I don't know if that was the

first time or not for him, but it's essentially like a horse

hits a wall, a Out of the time when they do when that does

happen to them when they've got the pulmonary hemorrhaging.

So so we're gonna do is we're gonna stir sticks off.

Yeah. I hope so.

I you know, it's interesting. We're in an interesting spot in

the three-year-old season. Right?

Where you know, no chance of a Triple Crown.

Obviously, there wasn't one going into the Preakness even

but we've seen these two races. We've got some nice

three-year-olds this year. I think it's actually a pretty

good class, right? Because we're going to get I

think I think the Belmont Field is pretty damn good and and so

I'm interested in that race. That's always I don't know.

I I feel like outside of say, an essential quality last year.

You can take, you tend to get a 5 to 16 to one type of winter

and those races does We the People pop back up Mo donegal's.

Go to run a huge race. I think Des is in their nest is

going to be in there. She's awesome.

And so yeah, I don't know where you at on that last night.

Well, we're still a couple weeks away, obviously, so the field

right now is just probables but i-i've been a really big fan of

We the People. Yeah, for a long time.

And again, he was kind of the buzz horse for a lot of people I

as easily as Nest again, one. And as good as she ran, although

obviously she did not win the Kentucky.

Oaks. I still think that she is a

force for sure and she wants to a filly that was pointed toward

the Derby of Winds and all right, so to possibly right.

So I mean, yeah, I mean no shame in.

Yeah, I'll have to check and do some Intel as well.

But I feel like she might have been working with a lot of the

top male horses in the Pletcher barn.

And again, she's got that kind of body type that she's just a

big imposing type of affiliate. She's really balanced and well

put together. So I maybe it's just a shot,

right? These are the same.

I believe it's the same connections with Tripoli with

Rags to Riches. Has you can't remember?

So maybe it's just a vicious spot but, you know, and that

they're hoping the kind of history will repeat itself, but

I don't know. I think you got a trainer like

Todd Pletcher. You're not talking about most of

the time unless it's like an ownership decision or whatever.

This isn't a why not us kind of barn.

You know, that's right. Totally.

I would say the most calculated trainer.

Out there, I mean, even just this part operations.

Everything. It's like a freaking scientist

machine. Like it whatever.

It's just it's so so particular. So yeah, what a actual odds are

that strike one? As an adult.

Is it 50/50? They say they're going.

I won't be playing more. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, right.

They say they're going to do you think he goes?

Are you think he doesn't start? I think.

Say they're going to go because they're trying to sell

merchandise. I don't know.

I think he starts, I'll give a 65% chance to start.

Okay, now, I think I think they were actually hoping the horse

would look bad on, Preakness day at Churchill and they'd have to

say he needs some time off, and then they would move on, but he

looked like a freaking Preakness winner on Derby Day around a

freak this day at Churchill. It's so, yeah.

When he was working, I think I think he looks too good.

Not to sign them. He looks great right now.

I mean, I don't know. I look at the Belmont feel like

it's a great too. Okay.

I mean, I don't feel it's a great one field.

You're talking about what? We normally judge our grade one

field. Yeah, I'll take two.

Okay, so Ness is a grade one horse is here.

That's isn't great. So MoDOT ago, no doubt grade

teacher. Yeah won't you yet?

Creative Minister? Jumped up from a maiden race or

allowance or whatever Supreme free horse.

Yeah. That's right.

Yeah, by the way. I mean, I think you might be

right? Mike.

Yeah, I think it's, it's probably a great to filled with

the exception of technically Rich strike.

And I think. Yeah, I think the only thing

that makes us feel interesting is if we get is that we could

get a larger field than what we normally would get them online.

I think that's what makes it interesting, right?

I'll let you get settled on horses.

I agree with you. Yeah.

Yeah, right. At this point.

It's out of that. This is a gun, especially if you

own a New York horse, I mean, this is a chance to big deal

this race. So it's a, it's a chance to jump

into. Race what?

Maybe usually you might look at it?

Go? Yeah.

I don't know that we have a spot a chance because I imagine many

owners. Look at Rich strike and think

you know, we could beat that horse, right, you know, with the

right trip or whatever, you know, so I I was I was surprised

at how well create a minister ran off two weeks.

Yeah, if he can if he could replicate that over three weeks,

there's no reason that horse can't win over a mile and a half

to me. Well, I think that was a horse

that Kenny was saying and a couple of reports that like,

yeah, they're going to the Preakness but the Belmonts

really where they're headed, right, you know.

No, so I guess you'd thought from the beginning that this is

a horse that would really relish additional distance.

I mean, ethereal Road, he ran huge in the, I forget the name

of the race now, but in the essentially, in the biblical

version of the elisheba and the Sir Barton, thank you.

And so yeah, red huge in that race.

And so, to me, I think I said on this show with Megan, you either

use ethereal rotor, use the field.

And I went with the field and that was stupid because you're

like, yeah, right exactly. Well, and he's a really

interesting physical body type to because he's a little tank.

I mean, He looks to me like, you know, kind of a like a dirt

Miler and I don't remember the distance of that race.

I'm trying to look it up right now.

But Mi Dragon, a smile to 16th, so, you know, and to no fault of

his own. I mean, the farthest distance.

He went was a mile and an eighth and he finished terrible Dark

Day in the Bluegrass. He seems to be okay the most

exceeds distance. I just don't know if that about

mile. Order at Big Sandy looking at

them. Yeah, it's going to be the kind

of, but again, he kind of fits the bill for.

I talked about this a few times like Pimlico.

I think suits the horses that are a little bit more of that

like smaller body type sometimes and I he he stick, but he's kind

of more Compact. And so I think he really, really

liked the Pimlico surface and I just don't know how that's going

to transfer to, New York. I need to be very interesting

because the, the to me the star of that day will be, we get a

Jackie's Warrior Flightline all about - yeah, for sure.

But, you know, that card, the acorns going to be awesome.

No, I that car. That's us.

Yeah. Okay.

Yeah, I'm sorry. I had no idea how to fix that.

So if I'm, if I'm lagging and cutting it out, audio was up all

dress. I just want all go luck.

I let someone, yeah, that's okay.

Let's go on to do some more handicapping here.

Okay, so we're going to go out of Churchill Downs and we're

going to start with the with. This is the big race.

You will be the carrot overnight.

We're going to do a whole pig for sequence.

Starting with 8, which is a maiden special weight Mountain

16th on the dirt and three year olds and up hundred.

Twenty thousand dollar purse. Megan.

Who do you like in this race? Wait, where Belmont?

I was I was almost no, we're Churchill or Churchill.

We're only doing the one at Belmont.

Okay. Sorry, sir, eight.

So I like two horses in here. I felt like there was a pretty

good chance that pining Peppa pioneering spirit for Todd

Pletcher. And Tyler Gaffney Lyon would be

a pretty good horse to use in here.

He's three, two, one. They are putting the blinkers on

which I thought. It was a really interesting

move, especially since this recent doesn't seem to have a

ton of speed in it. And so I think that it could be

unsurprising if this horse is able to show a little bit early,

go you've never worn blinkers before, but Todd Pletcher with

putting blinkers on for the first time.

When's that 21%. I like that Tyler's on.

I'm just going to draw a line through the last race for him

because that was that. Whoa.

Mile and a quarter. Yeah.

There you go. My Green Sheet Music picks.

Thank you pick. Now has the mile and a quarter

raised over the sloppy track at Churchill Downs for the maidens.

They always have that on on Derby week.

It's kind of like the test race to test out the gate and

whatever. And I, just, I don't think you

like that distance at all. So, it was also for horses,

three years old, and up, which technically this race is.

However, there's only 14 year old in here and that's the

seven, right prospector. So I think Numbers that he has

run are good enough to to put them right there in the mix.

So I certainly think that's a good horse.

The other one that I liked it. Here was the 12 Scotland Yard

who's actually tends one for Steve asmussen.

He doesn't ride Ryan and his very often it was and it's

interesting to see him jump on this one, but he, but obviously

Tyler who he rides quite a bit is jumping over to the top

country bar, which was also I think a good indication of US

versus talent. But this is a horse, a cult.

They bought for 300,000 because his damn is Leslie's Harmony,

who is a half to Leslie's lady, who produced the likes of

Beholder into Mischief Mendelssohn that such a talented

family. So obviously, you know, they're

kind of hoping that some of that light come through here with the

Bloodlines. But but yeah, it's it's I think

those are certainly some good ones and they obviously like the

horse to be Because the mayor rather and this horse because

they brought her to tap it and Uncle Mo in the following years.

So she's definitely one that I think is very interesting.

And I think last time you just draw a line through that again,

sloppy racetrack at Keeneland creative Minister, one that day,

this horse, just ran nowhere. And I mean nowhere like pulled

up 9 feet by twenty one leg. So I think you draw a line

through that and you just hope that this one is able to come

back a little bit better here this time.

So those would be those would be my two but I will.

I'll say a couple other pedigree notes that I did look up was

there is a half to West Coast in here who has anyone made over

five million dollars and that's the nine touchcode who West

Coast, you know, I think is 2017 Champion three-year-old and

whatever. And then have to engage, who was

a grade 2 winner is the 13 gate Runner as well.

So there are some, there are some nice ones.

There's a one horse in here. Bone boy.

No, is a half to an unnamed whore.

Two-year-old who has purchased for 1.1 million, it OBS by the

global eaten for Japan and they ride the horse back to not this

time. So but I'm not going to pick a

lot. Wow, the hoodie like this one.

One of the horses Megan just mentioned actually if they draw

and I think gate Runner, the 13 is the top here 722.

It's the other Pletcher. So I'll be interested.

They're clearly pointing that either if pioneering spirit is

ready. They'll run that horse and then

scratch out gate Runner, but if he's not ready, they'll throw

get runner in here. I'm just kind of In love with

the irrigate kids, they've been really, really good.

Speaking of major purchases 560 thousand dollar purchase at the

Keeneland September sale. And so obviously a lot of good

thoughts about this horse. Trust a pleasure to pick the

spot here. I two horses.

Megan didn't mention fantastic, housewife Ricardo satanic

Juniors on the three. Ridley's major going Turf to

dirt for Chad Brown. That number is 27 percent with

that angle and so has been working the horse over the dirt

at Churchill Downs. So that's the top for me, if the

13 Draw in 722 on the morning line, so not a huge number, but

I do like that horse. I also like the Sprinter out

angle for the second timer, before War campaign.

For Phil Simms. And for Corey Landry, Mike.

What high school did? Phil Simms go to Southern High

School? Oh boy, look at you.

And it's so I just like the second timer angle and I like

that that that's printer route for him with the, with the

breeding connections are speaking of progeny, declaration

of war and obviously, Only on the top side on the higher side.

So I ended up 13, 3, 4 and 10 in the Middle.

Where did he go to college? Phil Simms played college,

probably UK. No, no.

Morehead State come both. Correct?

Yeah. Yeah.

All right. Embrace 9 is the allowance

optional claiming race seven. Furlongs on the dirt for 33 year

olds and up. Non three lifer here and it's an

80,000 dollar purse. I'm sorry. 141,000, our first

few thousand are clean price. If you're gonna go for cleaning,

so hundred forty-one thousand dollars on the line.

Who'd be liking this one. Megan.

Does this force field? Is this this California?

We're not 120k. I've got gunned it in there, but

really tentatively because he just really does not seem to

love the Churchill Downs, surface.

I think he's one of the faster horses in the bunch and I

actually, She really liked him, cutting back to the seven for a

long distance. So I'm hoping that that is what

he prefers. And so it's to me, it's

hopefully more of not running a mile that'll improve him and

less of he just needs to be away from the Churchill Downs track.

You only 147 here. He's run some good minor

placings. But yeah, he's really got to

prove himself and it seems like his work times aren't that great

over this surface to. But I still again think he's a

really really talented. Norris and plus, he's got some

speed to so good. The cats are going to join the

show. Now, the cats I was gonna say

it's 8:30. Let's go.

Let's go the Kathy. Yeah, here I am interested in

Dennis's moment to see if he can make a comeback but I might

actually play an exactly for that for a couple years, right?

Yeah. Exactly.

Make Way for him to have his moment.

This is like the this is the race.

Of the McDonald. This is like watching all the

McDonald's. All Americans never met in the

NBA. Is that howling time rims?

So well this past week and I felt I felt like howling time

was a lot like, Dennis is moment, you know, like waiting

for him to kind of come back and he looked so so good doing it.

So, I don't know, maybe he needed the Rays Corey later.

You'll be waiting at 11% right now and Dale Romans only at 14%,

So I don't love that, but one horse that I think I might try

to get some value with and use an Exacta.

Would be the 674 one Cano. And Adam dusk is a because this

one of loves Churchill Downs. He's 44, 14 year 348 at the

distance and mostly just because of my my notes.

I mean, yes this race set up pretty well.

The last race rather it ki-moon. Said it pretty well for closers.

But in my trip notes I said jockey could barely hold horse

on Final. Turn had so much fun.

It was really really impressive the way.

He won that and I thought he just I mean, he just looks like

a rocket ship plus you've got the sprinting experience.

Where's there's? You know horses like got it that

are cutting back. So is he going to like it as

much? I don't know.

But I'm really just trying to find some value here and

possibly that's that's where it is.

So I may play, you know, like a gun, it Evan Exacta.

See what happens. Go and and hey Jade, I've been

is the only horse that doesn't fit the conditions of the only

horse in the Right, I give 80-thousand dollars there.

Exactly. Yeah.

JD by the way, I just put a pic for on the show.

She died apologize for doing that so late in the game.

All right, so this to me is you probably just say it.

I mean, I don't know how hard that is to type in, but I got

this is the all race of the weekend for me.

And so, this is, I called it quote, the good luck champ race

of the weekend, Evan, just ran great at Keeneland one can do

goes back to back at 4%. Dennis is moment has three

career wins one since he won the Iroquois in the fall as a

two-year-old. And Dallas Stewart has the

foreshadow matter entered, who is to her for lifetime of

Churchill's 05. He gets a good run.

I don't know, we've talked about gun.

It who just ran Derby weekend in the next go.

Is he going to finally break through?

I don't know, the to awesome. Jerry coming off a huge number

of Keeneland. It's at the Joseph's hair and

chest hair. They're both perfect.

Okay, but how much are his numbers padded by running in the

non-championship meet a Gulfstream Park?

I just don't know the one in tokens.

No. No, that's a bad take.

He runs plenty of horses in the championship.

Meet. I agree with you.

I'm a big fan and then a touka has a 21.

Yeah, if I have to, I'll go to 53 here, but I'm going to punch

all for this for this ticket. You know, I'm just kind of

thinking about with down goes Genesis moment.

Really. We haven't had a whole lot of

donuts and even res Jesus. I mean he got hurt.

All right, stop. Yes.

Yeah. Yes Dale Romans has been kind of

just not exist. Neither since that moment.

It has been interesting frankly. Yes, you know, I mean, he was

all over the place before 2018 and it's just been weird.

You know, Richie. You know, it's not like he's

lost a lot of times that happens if trainers lose like a major

owner something but I'll buy family's tables have been one of

his main owners has stayed there with him for a while.

So I'm still hospitals. Not if this is what ever had, a

great steak Swensons 2020. Yeah.

Wow. Yeah, that's been a slump.

It's been a swamp. All right.

So let's move on to the kirtan overnight, and this is a mile

and a half on the turf, Billy's a four year olds and up hundred

sixty thousand dollars. Up for grabs here.

And of course, everyone is going to vote for the three or do

better on the three Go. Big Blue Nation and it's over

three horse, Go, Big Blue Nation.

Mike's, lock of the week. There.

It is, lock it in, lock it and nice, much better.

There we go. Who's going first year?

Michael aggressive? Well, what making go?

So I went with probably Temple City seriously cat.

Can you not All that was left of the camera.

Moved to push the whole computer this.

Yeah, lost control. He's a large cat.

Okay, great. It's great.

And sometimes some point today. I brought him some flowers and,

like, kind of like potted flowers or whatever.

And I was like, do I leave them outside for the chicken /,

Raptors to destroy, or do I bring them inside for the Cat's

last? / goats.

Yeah, that's right. Yeah.

Anyways. Temple City Terror, the

six-year-old mayor for Brendon Walsh and out of the skills that

they've just been. I mean, the numbers say, at this

meat so far that they've been winning at a 14 percent clip,

but I feel like every time they're on the turf together,

their winnings. If you're like, the majority of

that is come from the grass and I didn't look up that number.

But yeah, they seemed to really really connect there on the

grass and The horse that obviously is stepping back up

into some company, but this is also the mayor that won last

year and she was really gutsy and doing so.

She finished first by 3/4 of a length, I believe.

And she closed on talika, who was a pretty talented horse.

Then in against this have company before, like, we're like

goddess and you know, as run at this distance.

Oh, I like her experience there at the mile and a half.

Sometimes it takes kind of a specialist horse to do that.

She also seems to be one. They've tried to maybe put a

little bit closer to the PACE at least when she ran a shorter

distance. Austin's last time at the mall

to 16th. They did typically she does seem

to need a little bit of pay set up, which she will likely get

from undisturbed, on the outside.

Who likes to have more of a front running style.

And then maybe Stand Tall who draws the rail there for us the

Arnold. I do think Stand Tall.

It 6 to 1 is also another Contender that you can consider

in here 141 at the distance over by the Churchill Downs on the

turf. But again, this is a new Turf

course and yeah, she's certainly To be in the conversation

because she does seem to be maybe just a bit more consistent

than some of the others in here, with her better finishes in the

top three or winning. So, I think those will probably

be the two horses that I would go towards.

Yeah, there wasn't anybody else that really stuck out to Me.

Maybe luck money could be 14 are no delacroy and Brian Hernandez

does because she's run at this distance 2010 before and they're

putting the blinkers on for the first time, which is interesting

but trainer only 6%. And when doing that first time

blinkers, so I don't know. And I mean, Richard Balter

shipping is horse here to which he's had.

He's usually ships and for the Kela meet and then stays around

for a little while. Maybe that's when you consider.

But you know, we always talk about how much is that

California form kind of inflated by subpar stakes races.

So it's something to consider. Okay, we get to Louis.

Sorry. I had mentioned it in the open

to the show and I showed the finale.

Last year, soda Lika. Depending on, you know, where

you want to look at. The race was up by as much as 18

links. Just really tried to burn them

off the off their feet and Temple City Terror look like a

quarter horse and comparison. It was a really exciting finish,

but I don't think two people sitting there is going to get

that much Pace as opposed to last year, but we'll see way.

Sorry doll. You're you're good.

I'm going to mention the exact same for horses as Megan in a

different order. Okay, as Mega taught me starting

to years ago, in these route, races Pace makes the race and so

I have the two disappearing act on top of rigid, pulses at

baltus set just off the leader in a high-level allowance last

time out at Keeneland at the distance winning.

They tried her for the first time at this distance in the

grade three Astra at Senate in January.

She finished right behind a fine mayor and Nash blaz that day

actually, so I think there's a good chance.

They'll still be some moisture in that turquoise on Saturday.

I'll Trust the horse that's been good on.

Multiple surfaces on the new Surface at Churchill Downs.

I think she'll enjoy the go if she can run.

Well, it's and Anita if she can run.

Well at Keeneland, I'll trust her at Churchill Downs, 421 like

that number trust. Tyler.

Of course, I don't think you'll get 4 to 1 because the Tyler but

we'll put her on top for me. Look six-year-old Temple City

Terror. I mean, she lands on the second

spot for me. It's Brendon Walsh.

It's a damask. It's a Morning Line.

Favorite for wreak a reason won this race last year.

Over that de Lika that we talked about.

Best speed, figs of her career are at this distance.

She has an obvious shot. I agree with you luck money

bone. The blinkers on actually like

that was very good. Quote has very good closing

speed but I think would benefit from being more forwardly

placed. I think that's what they're

going to try to do here. Like like JD just mentioned that

you know, I don't think you want to get into a stretch tool with

someone like Temple City Terror, who's going to be just flying

down the stretch late. I think, at 12:54 Stand, Tall

for us t on and like you mentioned makes a lot of sense

in this spot. Finished five lengths back last

time off behind Bleecker, Street fluffy socks.

In handy, Woods to be that's a better field than this one.

So she may actually given this field Megan and given the pace

scenario here. I think she may actually get the

lead and stay there. She won't try to get 1820.

Links out. Like we talked about last year

with talika. So that's it.

Include for me. I went to seven eight and one

and what has turned out to be a very nice race.

I'm glad they're doing this again, the kirtan overnight.

Yeah, and usually draws a pretty good field and also feels like

this is the kind of race that Rusty Arnold like does really

well, and he's not being fabulous meet.

I mean, he's winning at 29 percent, so Our church also

seems like all systems are go. All right, let's complete our

pick for Action here with a quick pic here in the last race,

which is a an allowance six Furlong Sprint on the dirt 43

old Phillies to non lifers for 127 thousand dollars.

Megan. Who's your pick here?

I looked at two horses for the most part and that is the eight

horse on the ones and twos to ran at Churchill.

Was that Oak? Stay?

It's finished a really nice second.

It was first time. Getting Lasix that day horses

about 5 to 1 or so. It's great to get laid six

again. Here.

They took a pretty aggressive route with her.

She's a Jimmy Creed and so, you know, you think Sprinter when

you think that, but they did try to stretch her out because she

ran so well in the debutante, I guess she finished second by a

length that day and then they bumped her up to race at

Saratoga and agreed to which is really tough.

She didn't finish. Anywhere they like, okay, let's

try our long essentially. This is the pasta method, right?

And like, try our long at Churchill and the Pocahontas.

She runs nowhere. Well, maybe we'll try the turf,

they run along on the turf, and she doesn't stick there and the

Jessamine either. So, they gave her a break.

After what I thought was a pretty aggressive campaign and

brought her back and she finished that nice second.

And again, sloppy racetrack, you know, a horse that may be needed

the race to get back into it. So I think all the ones and

choose is going to be there, especially since technically

this is the I believe the only Stakes placed horse in the

field. You got a lot of work.

That's right, especially company.

A lot of verses that are have been running at this allowance

levels. So I think that's probably where

you go is Izzy, eight horse on the ones and twos.

The dam also is graded Stakes placed in a, in a Grade 3 at

Aqueduct. So you've got some nice form

there and then I went to the to re Oakley for Steve asthma's and

I got it right this time to showing off and she got it right

now and Bryant Hernandez. So the last two races have been

really good for her, both of them at Oaklawn Park.

She does have a little bit of speed but she's not the only one

in here. The family's been really

productive. Obviously.

She's a Gunrunner. So that's something you want to

look at. But the dam has had nine winners

out of 10 starters and was graded Stakes.

A great, a Stakes Winner herself.

The I think the Silver Bullet day and then also in the

Pocahontas and this one's a have to bow.

Liam who won the ack-ack, I believe, and a couple of other

ones. And so I think this is probably

a filly that they have some high hopes for she's really

well-bred. The Bears been bred back to good

magic. Uncle Mo.

So I would expect re Oakley to be sitting on a pretty good,

pretty good effort. All right.

So my dad thumbs up. Green Sheet pick of the week is

in this race. Ice, all right horse that Megan

mentioned the to re Oakley. So Progressive type getting

better and better. Finally broker baton against

three and up. So against open company we get

three year old company here. I like the age restriction for

her Oakland horses happen. Showing up really well around

the country including this past weekend at Pimlico so I can I

expect her to continue her improving form for as most.

And then, if you want another horse horse, that Megan didn't

mention. I'll take the one static, Fire

Hits. Well, awful, Brian Lynch hits

were lawfully off. 24% 19% with first time Lasix goes Turf, the

dirt at 22 percent healed lepers who are actually hitting at 16%

at Churchill Downs in a reasonable sample size as well.

So I went to one in the allowance, but I'll be singling

in the end of my pick. For all right, there.

It is. There's a dollar.

Are 50 Cent base. It's 40 dollar bed right there

for Louis. Not bad.

All right, we're gonna be about to do mod Mark, much.

Will it return $49? There it is.

I actually agree with that. We're gonna go to the park for

the grade 3, soaring, softly, soaring, softly, the 1999

American champion, female Turf horse.

Also won the Breeders Cup mayor Filly and mare Turf that you're

with Jerry Bailey on board. And this is the race that's

named for her. There you go.

Great three, Filly and mare Turf and it's for 30 Phillies.

It's a seven furlong. Rent on the Widener Turf course

for 100 all boozy. Let's go boogy.

Boogy, boogy people. Let's go Weegee.

Boogy, boogy boogy. All right, who do we like in

this one? We're start with making because

she's from New York. So I'm going with the nine horse

in here. Darian for Christopher Coleman.

Joel Rosario is aboard and he's been on this one quite a few

times. We're in a really good second,

after a bit of a layoff of pretty good.

Lay off, actually from. November to April finish second

by a neck. She was right there.

She obviously is a closing type to raise his back.

He was in the Breeders Cup. Juvenile Turf Sprint against the

boys. If you remember why I like this

is chili gleaming for I believe Wesley board and I think that's

one of the words is that he's bringing to Royal ask it as part

of his really talented contingency this year.

So I like that for her. She ran it would bind did really

well. So I think Second start out the

layoffs. It's probably going to be a

great great spot for her. She just want trouble in the

Breeders Cup juvenile Turf too, so she had to check their.

And so it wasn't the cleanest trip and she still finished

fourth in that nice blanket finish, just by a length.

So I'm gonna put her on top. We 11 is or Rica or Aika.

Yeah. Yep.

For grab motion at a nice juicy 12:45.

This one Cuts back from a mile at Key.

In the last time in the Appalachian and that was against

Fender Ella who I think is super talented dulces, L was in there,

who's a really good name. So I absolutely love the cup.

I can just as she seems to have done much much better at six and

six and a half hour long since anumita and Aqueduct.

She's obviously a horse I can ship based off of what she's

done before. So I think that this cutback is

super super important for her and Grand motion, you know, I

think it's an excellent trainer. Many Franco picks up the mount

but he has been aboard her. When they finish second aqueduct

in that, allowance rates on the turf and note that that was

against the boys as well. So there are quite a few

Villages that had some two-year-old experience running

against quotes and geldings. I mean, I think you could look

at the eight hottie for Chad Brown, who obviously finished

third behind Pizza. Bianca in the Breeders Cup.

Juvenile fillies Turf and has done really nothing wrong, but

hasn't sprinted in her career. So far.

She's only gone the distance of a mile.

Amount of 16th. So it's really interesting to

see this cut back here. That being said, Chad Brown from

route to Sprint winds and 27 percent.

So, you know, he certainly seems to know what he's doing.

And I think all Chad Brown angles are 27%.

Yeah, board with the 12 or stepping up for Maiden company.

Won that race but seems like she had a lot to learn still and

then kind of the same thing for Wonka, who Finish First last

time ago, Street Park, I don't think I like her as much as I do

like the you know, the if I was going to take a maiden step up,

I probably do like do you like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate

Factory? Yeah, sure.

Which one the first one or the like the Remake are the

original, which one you like? I mean, I like and dislike

things about both of them. That makes a good movie.

There you go. Yeah.

Yeah, that's a big thing. Mike is introducing that movie

to my daughter you basically. We get the Johnny Depp version

because the original version was streaming is just not available

anywhere. Well, yeah, in fact, the gene

Walters. Yeah, greater than Johnny Depp

my opinion. But yeah, anyway, no, that's

that's a good take. Yeah.

In a match race. I would say I would say Gene

Wilder, I agree. So I raised.

All right. So yeah, Megan that I agree on

the top three here. And look, if you follow the

show, you know, there are three basic angles here, all of them

viable, all the major saying, I love this race, by the way, I

think it's very cool. What are the angles?

Are you ready for this folks? All right.

So if you just want to run the brown, good as a two-year-old

and good off the layoff angle. You take hottie.

The eight who ran, well in the Breeders Cup.

Juvenile fillies Turf picks up Pratt a very worthy Morning Line

favorite. If you want.

S off the layoffs coming out of a good field angle that you take

the nine Dairy. Nein.

That's your horse ran. Well, at Keeneland simply

running out of time. In that five-and-a-half furlongs

gets a little bit more distance here.

Makes sense that you would want that horse coming slightly off

the pace here on that. Very beautiful, and very bougie

whiner Turf course, lost that. That's her Sprint by less than a

link at the Breeders Cup has that Breeders Cup experience?

So is ready to go here. I think if you want the finest

of angles though, Megan, I mean the finest.

You look outside of the 12 shorty party, who's coming out

of a maiden win. I mean, look, I mean, it's the

finest of angles. You think that you don't like

it, but you keep mentioning it Wesley Ward, I read.

All right. No.

No, it's a different one. Is Wesley Ward or somebody like

that. It's also so to me, the nine on

top here, feels like the pizza Bianca of this past weekend, so,

I wanted a horse that ran a good first back and we're s off.

Grab the nine. I'm 98 12 in The Soaring softly.

I thought this was a business, a very cool field given the

restrictions on this race. The three old Filly angle is

very, very cool raised. Well, it will say that.

What I will say that what Louis just did was very much similar

to the name of the horse charty party.

Just beat peligro. So it's very dangerous to bring

up that angle in front of making device.

Oh, Dad joke, let's go. Everybody.

Finish your drink. Let's go.

I don't get it. All right, bro, is the is the

word for danger in Spanish? That's what he just did.

That's how you do that peligro. Something's dangerous.

Let's go. Let's go.

Let's go JD with them. What's the joke?

I love it. Great.

All right. Well, that was a good just

quick, you know, less than an hour show.

But look at us. Oh, Michael, you're gonna me.

You guys will miss me for the next couple weeks.

So yeah, can you tell me what you want?

What am I doing up in the cat for you and going to the

motherland? That's what I'm doing.

What? Part of the motherland?

My friend, I will be. I will see the Holy, Father, on,

on June 8th, so I will be in his presence.

So, I'll visit some family down in Sicily and maybe some some of

Chrissy's family up in the Alps. We haven't really kind of

determine what happens after we see the pope.

You know, we've got the first part, kind of mapped out but not

the second part yet, are all four of you going.

Not only are all four of us going.

I'm talking about everybody's going, everybody are by like,

their kids, my mom and dad are gonna be together for the first.

Part and the second part we're kind of on our own.

That's awesome. You know, I think, you know,

just, we share these kinds of things at the end of the show,

but I think Mike's dream is like seven eight months a year in

Louisville and the like four months on the Amalfi Coast.

Is that fair to say not be more because but in Sicily, yeah.

Yeah, right. Yeah, three months in Sicily.

Yeah. To ask you for recommendations.

If and when I ever get to go to Italy, I just refused to go

pregnant because I would, I want all the wine and all the things.

So I lost it. So I thought it is that is the

JD and happen. We lost better than when we lose

Louis. Yes.

It is. No doubt about it happens.

He's gonna get back on, you know, boy.

Let's just end this before.

Horse Racing Happy Hour
