Amanda will be called the Sam tomorrow.

His name is Jason Beam joins us here on Reboco on ESPN 680-1057.

Find him at BB Awards on Twitter.

Mr. Beam, good morning. How are you, man?

I'm doing good. How are you guys?

We're doing great. The sun is out.

The first, the first number of temperature is 4.

All right. How well into the 80s are you

getting today? I think 77 is the tops here.

I'm so sorry. Now we're we're, we're in like a

crazy good stretch. We're in a great stretch of

weather like every day. Lately it's been 75, I think

supposed to dip into 80 the next week or two.

And there wasn't a raindrop on my my iPhone weather thing for

the next 10 days. We're we're doing good here, but

we had we had a rough fall. Yeah, right now I think a lot of

places around the like, fairgrounds would love to, you

know, just have a a boring stretch of weather for a couple

of days for sure. So Jason be with us.

He'll call the races this weekend at Tampa, as he always

does. It is Sam F Davis weekend.

How was your campaign to have it be called the Sam colloquially?

How's it going? I think that I think there's two

of us that are into it, you and me.

That's that's about the, the, I mean, I call, I don't know, I

don't remember where I heard that, but I, I think I, I don't

remember creating that, but I just always refer to it as that.

Get to to. Do that this weekend.

We've got the Oaks of Derby preps later in the card, a

couple of stakes for older horses earlier on though.

If people are kicking around tomorrow, races five and six are

the Pelican and the Minaret. Obviously Phillies and mares in

the Minaret open company on the Pelican side of things.

Nutella Fella is a not only a great horse name, but is coming

into this race often. Optional Claimer obviously ran

third in the Woody Stevens behind Book of Dano this year.

Obvious favorite here. We see in a horse second off the

layoff here that that should get most of the money.

I don't know. I mean, I, I remember that that

he was I thought pretty over bet in that last race.

You know, his his effort. He of course he's a Grade 1

winner. Somebody's going to make a lot

about that. He had like an insane pace and

that hopeful and then the Woody Stevens, he ran fine, but again,

they went 43 flat for the opening out.

I think a little bit of it depends what kind of pace he

gets to run into. And also he's he's shortening

up. He's been kind of running at

7:00. So I feel like he might even be

further behind. So I to me, he's not a, a Gimme

here. I'd probably be going against

him just in general. It happens.

Not, of course, you want to come from that far behind.

Well, and I was going to say in that Woody Stevens, yes, he gets

up to finish third by less than two legs.

He was 18 legs off the lead at one point.

Yes, I know there was a bump start, but he is a slow starter

and a much more of a deep closer.

Like you mentioned. There's some other horses in

here that you would have to know a little bit more about just

because they have been running down South is a horse like pure

class. We get Paco Lopez in this

weekend by the way, Goodness gracious, your jockey room this

weekend is absolutely loaded. Paco gets him coming out of a

state bred race here. But you know for the Fox Brown

barn here doesn't run a ton of sample, but we do see him at

Gulfstream Horse like that. Catch your fancy.

Maybe a caramel chip with I read.

Yeah, Fox, he'll come over for a lot of the kind of the state

bred races, Florida day and stuff because he's got a lot of

good Florida breads. I always kind of like the barns

that stick to the the state bred programs and he's certainly one

of them. And Paco, you know, I mean when

Paco comes over here, he's usually a pretty live horses.

So he's he's fared pretty well. I remember he won the Suncoast a

couple years ago on a big Bomber.

But you know, this particular race I didn't, I kind of didn't

love anything. Caramel chip is intriguing,

certainly, but the Irad tax, as we, as we call it, we thought

with lobbying last week too. It's one thing when those guys

go to other tracks, but when they go to tracks that that

they're really, really the big kingpins that they just get

smashed at the windows and then they win a bunch.

Flavian won four last week. So you know, the it's it's a

rightful thing. We see like when Iran comes to

colonial, they just hammer his horses at the windows.

And so I just worry that his horses and flopping horses are

just going to take so much more money because those guys just

carry a lot of weight, especially when you pair him up

with the with the Chad Browns of the world and stuff like that.

I'm kind of rooting for life is precious Gerald Bennett, who's

who's our perennial leading trader here to battle some

health stuff. There was an article on our

website about kind of his goings on if he's got a horse in the in

the big one as well. So him and Daniel Centeno and a

classic Tampa connection brought outside and the one who will be

coming from far back as well. Bennetts antenna 21% winners in

this meet so far at Tampa as well.

The minaret has race 6 Philly mare side here.

Hunter K in the Kitty for this one on the dirt 7:00 to 5:00 on

Nick's style. We saw her last out win a state

bread race at Tampa before that did win the pumpkin pie in open

company against other Phillies and mares 3 and up at Aqueduct.

Pretty pretty clear favorite here.

I think a worthy of that seven to five number.

Yeah, she's been awesome. Even last race she kind of had

to wait for room for a little bit.

There was a split second where I was like, maybe, no.

And then? You know.

Just was a was a pretty fast style winner by the time it was

all said and done. Dazzling blue is a real

interesting addition to this race.

We've we you know, we never saw Brad Cox here the last several

years and he shipped a couple over here and as he as he does,

he's won. And so, but this horse hasn't

got the lead and since it's third career start and those are

the three the horse won. So I don't know if this horse

just needs to be in front or if you know, because I mean,

clearly she's running against good competition of running

fairly well, but she gets smashed at the windows every

time. And with Pratt Cox being a

Tampa, she is as well. So you might actually get

somewhat of, I mean, you know, I don't know, it's not going to be

a big price hymnic style, but you might, you might be able to

hold the 7:00 to 5:00 just because that the Cox horse is

going to take a lot of money. The local runner, I think that's

got the best shot here at least I call it local runner, but this

is a horse that ran at Tampa last out understanding me.

Camacho is Miuccia, I imagine is the spelling there, the, excuse

me, the pronunciation there for Gustavo Delgado, who, frankly,

smaller Operation 72 starts last year, has run a couple already

at Tampa, including, well, not this one.

Wouldn't have counted. It was at the very end of

December. But she comes in, drops the

lasix, though here. But the daughter Mottoli could

be a factor, Yeah. Oh, for sure.

Yeah, yeah. Delgado obviously a great

trainer. That was a major trainer, right?

I'm forgetting that. Yep.

No, no, you're not forgetting, don't worry.

Yeah, I kind of worth noting Sammy is, is is on a little bit

of a vacation for for a riding suspension, but you are allowed

to ride in the stakes races. So he's riding in the this one

and I believe the Suncoast Stakes.

But yeah, mucha I I, I however, I said it last time, I tell you

today because I remember I looked it up, but I haven't I

haven't gone through and done my pronunciations yet.

I'll do that tonight. But no, it was a nice one, but

that horse was supposed to win that race and I think it was

just kind of, you know, supposed to be a tune up.

You know, like you said, it was before the new year, but

certainly was kind of off a little bit of break to start

this campaign. By the way, one of Major's

owners is a guy named Patrick Beauvais BOVE.

If you need a podcast guest that's an owner, Patrick's

awesome. Like a legitimate great

conversation. So just a freebie for.

The I always, I always need a podcast.

For the Jason B podcast, which everyone listening should check

out, he'll also be calling the Suncoast a mile tomorrow.

Excuse me, a mile, 40 yards on the dirt.

Make sure you get in on this one because it is 20 points ahead of

the Kentucky Oaks. You mentioned that Flavian

Pratt's in town. He's writing for John Terranova

in this race, a horse coming off the turf at last out in the

Jessamine in Italian soiree. Her laugh comes in as the

favorite here and I've been very impressed with the work of Whit

Beckman both last year and this year, conditioning 3 year olds

for this series. Last year, of course, with Anna

Marie in the Derby, her laugh is the latest of of the frankly a

second high level Philly that he's got.

She wins the untappable last out mile 70 of Fairgrounds.

Have we had enough Fairgrounds shippers to have any kind of

trend there? No, not really.

They they they tend to not come here all that much.

I mean, they like Cassie always runs a lot here and I know he'll

run. You know, he's got to run

anywhere. But no, we don't we don't see a

lot of fairgrounds horses. I want to say that was going to

send one to the Tampa Derby last year.

Maybe he did again. You know, you start calling

races, you got to watch him the second the race is over.

But so I I know he's he's pointed here before.

So this is not something crazy for him.

And you know, our our series for the Phillies.

This is the old only one with points.

The the Florida Oaks is actually a turf race.

So as we get closer to to Tampa Derby day.

So this really is our our last three-year old Philly, you know,

big race and it's our only Philly point race.

So I guess it makes sense a good spot for them to come try some

nice horses like Cara coming back.

Cassie started the wonder wheels 3 year old campaign after her

juvenile Philly win a few years ago and and got and got beat.

You know, I think that was the day Paco beat.

But yeah, I'm a little against La Cara just because I feel like

sometimes he's really, he's really good 2 year olds, you

know, they take they take the winter off, they come back,

sure, sometimes they win, but they're always low prices

because everybody's looking at their resume and a lot's changed

in those months. And you know, the the horses

that are right to her inside, including her laugh like they

have, they've had their whole career since this horse last

ran, which obviously isn't much of A career, but I don't know.

I just feel like I've seen enough short price good 2 year

olds come back at three that aren't that good.

Which, you know, I guess technically her laugh was is a 2

year old returning at 3 even though it's only been a month

and 1/2. Italian soiree is coming off the

turf. John Terranova does that as well

as anyone else at 19% his last small sample size there at

Tampa. In general, do horses do OK on

the dirt transferring from the the turf?

I don't know, I'm not the best handicapper when it comes to

stuff like that. You got to ask the actual

handicap. I just, you know, it's funny, I

tell people that all the time, like the race car, like I'm way

less attuned with handicapping that I have names and silks and

try to figure all that out. So I'm going to I'm going to

completely fold on that question, but Terra Dome, I can

tell you it does does really well here and and obviously

luring Slavia Pratt is is not a surprise.

I suppose the I mean this horse ran honestly pretty damn good on

the on the dirt so and and is stretched out the distances on

turf. So I, I think there's, there's

question marks, but there's also some, some answers within those

question marks. Adding the blinkers here.

I always like to look back to the most recent workout,

whatever an equipment change is made, because usually they'll,

you know, with blinkers, they'll, they'll run, they'll do

the work in blinkers and just kind of see if it, it may be

speed anything up or what have you.

And this horse has been working locally.

So it has been based here, has been training here.

So if there is any kind of hint about liking the dirt track, I

mean, there's a bullet for works back.

There's some other really good workouts just, you know, close

to a bullet to two works back. On the outside is Chloe and she

comes off a maiden win in a maiden special, but it was on

the synthetic over 5 1/2 at Gulfstream.

It Do you think this is one that they're just going to try to

get, you know, near the lead and see what happens or you know,

this is the one I can't figure out in this race, Jason.

Well, the post is tough too, especially considering the horse

rights. It's inside probably wants to go

a little bit. There's there's I think a lot of

people want to go in this race. One thing Italian soiree might

have is is a decent pace to run into, you know, with with Chloe,

it's but again, we only have the one start of evidence, but you

know, going 22 and 4, going five and a half one they be you have

to think they they think they're going to go to the lead.

But I feel like with your second career start, like you just

don't know that it you don't know this is a speed horse that

needs the lead. You just know this horse was

faster than a main group and was so by by quite a bit.

So I think this time of year, a lot of people are just kicking

the tires, whether or not they can, you know, go on to the the

riches and glory that is the the Oaks of the Derby trail.

And you know, these earlier races, these February races,

you're, you're getting a lot of that.

You're seeing a lot of these horses, you know, even the one I

mentioned before won a main race and they're like, hey, let's,

let's give it a shot. We won impressively and and what

have you. I mean, even Delray down on the

inside of this race, that was one of the best turf kicks I've

seen in a while here. I mean, just completely blew the

doors off a field on grass and now goes to the main track where

the one main track race was fine.

It was up in your neck of the woods there in Indiana.

But again, I think they had a really big effort last time.

And so they're like, yeah, we went two in a row.

We'll take a crack at it. Brad Cox, of course, has many on

the oak side of things. Whit, back then though,

including her laugh, has two in the top 20 as well.

We're seeing names like Owen Hardy on the the Derby side of

things. Hopefully can get it going on

the Elks side of things as well. The Sam will be race 11 a mile

and a 16th on the dirt. Quarter million bucks in the

Kitty for this one. Everybody's Triple Crown

nominated except for Doctor Ruben M.

In this one. We see the return of Owen

Almighty, who obviously the DQ happened last time.

By the way, I agree with the stewards on that

disqualification in that race, but he looked really good.

Brian Lynch didn't seem to be too terribly upset after the

race because he did what he was supposed to do on debut as a

three-year old. 2 to one here. Probably going to get hammered

because of the Irad name. You're going to pay that tax

here? Is he a worthy 2 to one

favorite? I don't I mean, I just think

there's question marks. The last race was weird,

obviously with the the DQ and the interference there.

It basically became A2 horse race between O and almighty and

naughty Rascal and look for a second like naughty Rascal was

going to. And actually, you can argue

maybe did go by at one point, but I read looked extremely

confident the whole way. The stretch out is is a big

question mark, right. It's it's two turns for the

first time. The source went a mile, but it

was at Churchill where it's it's not two turns.

So I just hate taking short prices on horse with lots of

question marks. The problem is with this race,

outside of maybe poster, there's a lot of question marks when it

comes to distance and stuff like that.

There's just a lot of sprinters stretching out in here.

Doctor Ruben, have you mentioned for Doug O'Neill?

I had to look it up. He he's been here once.

He came with twenty O 9 for the Tampa Derby.

He ran 3rd. So it's it's not I think he has

one other enter and you know, it's like you're going to ship

the van. You may as well, you know, fill

all the stalls kind of thing. But yeah, there's there's a lot

of distance questions here. I mean, even John Hancock, who

we saw here at Tampa a few weeks ago, I remember Sammy said at

the press release after the races like he's like, that's,

that's a pretty nice horse. And so I think Flavian coming in

for, for Brad Cox, you know, not a bar that he rides a ton for,

at least as far as I can tell. I I think that says a little bit

the horse looked the part, but it's like it's so hard to gauge.

It was a six prolonged made special weight and the horse was

in front the whole way and just kind of cruising.

But I I I have sneaky suspicion. The source is really good, but

it's still a big ass second. Yeah, I love the note in the

form which is mild ask. I don't know, I've seen mild ask

too often in the form, but that's essentially what they're

saying. I agree with you by the way.

I think poster is a really, really live horse in here.

Texture was asking here on our text line 437-9680 if what, what

the deal is quote with what is the deal with Smokin Boy?

And I think I think that's a really, really great question.

Here comes over, you know, from overseas into the D'Angelo barn.

Paco Lopez to ride here. You know, I was talking with our

our mutual friend Barry Spears yesterday on my podcast and he

was like, I'm including this horse 'cause I frankly don't

know what I'm getting at. This is the kind of race Paco

just picks off. I don't think that's a bad tact.

Do you know where this horse is coming from and and what his

experience was coming here? Yeah, Puerto Rico.

How about? That I'll be there in a week and

a half. I'm looking forward.

To it, I, I, I take the opposite stance of Barry.

I I'd much rather get burned by a horse that I just, you know, I

don't know anything about. Now, the, the only reason I

would agree with him is that the price might be just great.

And, and so maybe there's somebody said that D'Angelo

hasn't won with a, a shipper to the US out of albeit 2 starts.

They're adding blinkers. There's a, there's a lot going

on and I, I, I said this on my show the other day, like I have

no clue of the level or quality of racing at Camaro racetrack.

And so, you know, and it's not like Paco's only here for this

horse. He's got a lot of other amounts,

you know, so I don't know, I just, I, I'm kind of the price

is the only thing that would make me consider just because

again, I don't know. And you know, I mean, they, they

only paid 15,000 for the horse at a sale just last year.

So like to me, there's there's just a lot of of question Marks

and you know, you would have the price has to go up from 20 to

one, I think for me to be all that interested smokin.

Boy, the son of Smokin Deb and Catholic boy.

So that's where you get Smokin boy from on the name.

Last horse I wanted to ask about in the same is Treaty of Rome.

The two horse comes in out of that Mucho Macho Man finish

behind guns loaded in that one mile.

Mucho Macho man at Gulfstream Park for Chad Brown.

You get Dylan Davis in town for this one man.

I love that six to one price. I think we might actually get

every dollar that six to one price.

Well, yeah, a lot of people are certainly going to navigate to

the top two in here if if Treaty of Rome comes down, I don't

think it'll be much more below 4 to 15 to 9:00 to 2:00 or

something like that. But yeah, I went back and

watched the mucho much, but like Guns Loaded was just cruising

the whole way. It looked like he could not have

won any easier. And then all of a sudden this

horse really started gaining on him.

The last quarter was 26 and one. So was it him slowing down a

Treaty of Rome just kind of maintained, but that's kind of

part of running longer distances.

So I, I think there's, there's certainly a lot of of upside.

Like you said, you're going to get double or triple the price

of John Hancock, who there's a lot more question marks than

there is on Treaty of rope, but there it it also possibly could

be a lot more potential. Well, he's Jason.

Beam at Beamy Awards on Twitter. Go find him there.

Of course, the Jason Beam podcast as well.

Look, man, I really appreciate you jumping on.

I'm sure we'll talk ahead of the Tampa Bay Derby, have a bunch of

great calls, a bunch of safe trips for everybody down there

and enjoy the weather. We're very jealous.

Yeah, I was going. To say you got you guys stay.

I was listening to the commercials before while I was

on hold. What is Louisville style pizza?

That's a really fair question. It is essentially a Tavern.

Bear nose is essentially a Tavern style pizza.

If you were a. Thin.

Yeah. Thinner.

Crackery sort of crust. That's right.

It's actually, and it's very good.

That's very good. They do a nice job.

Anytime I go there, they just take me to the spaghetti chili

place. Yeah, that.

That, that skyline, I'm sorry that you, you, you have chosen

very specific friends in this area and that's not anything I

can help you with, Jason. I I won't mention his name.

All right, man. Well, be well.

Have a bunch of good calls. We'll talk to you soon.

All right, all right, have a good.

Day, See. You man, see you Jason Bean, now

that Ted does appreciate him jumping on ahead of the same

tomorrow.
