Paco, Lopez sent him down for the drive.

And he's picking off versus one by one.

But meanwhile, up front at 52 one can get him out.

Now, going to the lead, here's King dermo, on the outside

trying to follow. You jump said, Jan said is

storming home on the Outside, Inside the final Furlong.

Do you believe this? King Mo at forty.

Nine to one, he doesn't just win it.

He wins it off in pressive. Lee sole Volante from.

All right, welcome, shall we got a saddle up to the bar?

It is time for the horse racing. Happy hour, the quarantine bar

mic is off of Louis or bow and that was King Guillermo if you

listen to the show last week, I mean stable.

Well I don't know if you noticed but Louis couldn't get his head

through the door because he On the show last week said this

race sets up really good for 10 long shots and basically said,

if you don't know who see me Camacho is, you know, King

Guillermo is worth a dollar across the board which would

have paid pretty well because two dogs across the board.

Can't gamble paid 100 to win and 38:22 place in 1782 show so you

could have that not a bad 3 dollar bet.

It's a nice 12:35 over all that. So yeah, that's all I goes.

So King, animal gets his revenge, oversoul Volante.

They these to race the last time.

I'm out. And so, this is this King Varian

caramel basically had the stole Genesis moment.

Oh, had to lay off since November.

People can't see you pointed me when you make terrible jokes.

That was bad. Dad jokes.

Yes, King garon will though. No racing.

This is a horse that they basically just had to try to

figure out who he was but he's got good speed figures last.

Two races were on the turf, ran the style and the speed that you

have to run to be a When I like, if, if this wasn't a long shot

and I'm not really 100% sure why it was a long shot, I guess,

maybe the layoffs, or maybe the connections, or maybe he just

doesn't have the breeding stock. You're like, oh, this horse can

do this thing is out of Uncle Mo, it's 150,000 dollar horse,

this isn't, this is not a joke of a horse.

Yeah, so I it's not those things, at least I I'm not sure

I think people got caught up in. Who the favorites were heavier

than usual. I certainly didn't expect as we

emit 50 to 1, we didn't None of us like the favorites on seeing

this race and that was something we talked about last week.

Was that we did not think the favorites were going to come in

to win at least so so Levante s Race.

So want it was second. Yeah, so that's actually two

good races in a row as far as points for so long day but

homemade qualify for the Derby becoming s actually I think so.

Probably right as that goes with 30 points, right?

Yeah, 20 points on the but he had he had for this one race

buddy. I take from the right one,

right? So, so it's going to be on the

he's definitely on the verge. Yeah.

So we're going to see in the Florida Derby though for sure.

Right. And so, An interesting race down

to Tampa Bay and, you know, so Volante coming out of this the

same same if Davis, of course previously in February but yeah,

just a surprising outcome, I guess for many.

But we talked about how the tendon 11, Jolla Tampa Bay was

not a sentence, like it seems to be ahead of culture even though

someone from the 10 last week, right?

With with AT&T n. So get your right here and the

proper style. I love how he looks onto turns.

He was very comfortable on the Second turn and came out, king

Guillermo, of course, and came out and just finished so

perfectly. I mean, just do tremendous run

and we would have to go back. Tampa Bay is not one of those

tracks that I talked about because they don't have 100

Point Race. I don't know how good of a

predictor Tampa Bay is for Churchill Down.

I see you want to know who's won the Tampa Bay Derby.

I feel like you're about to mention some big boy horses

here. You think?

So, I'm not going to mention winners.

Okay. But we have tacitus quip Tapper

it Destin who was like the Wiseguy choice in 2016 but

mainly because all of Louisville goes to Destin, so those are

some pretty good horses, right? Yeah, Street since actually

didn't to. That point, one me, some serious

cash on the film, only one. So Street sense is the last

Derby winner, okay, to win the Tampa Bay but these forces all

ran in the respectfully, I mean I don't think it was, it was

anything to sneeze at so you have some, there's some history

I think I do. Think that King Guillermo is the

exactly what we talked about. This is a horse who wasn't sure

who was at, what is identity was is a two-year-old, look, really

good on the dirt. The other thing that's going to

be interesting is here, is that we might have the horse that we

talked about his connections are in.

They paid the money to have a nominee because he wasn't

originally nominated. They had to pay the late fee of

six grand. Yeah.

And he might just go straight to the derby.

You're right. That I'm actually looking at the

schedule right now. I try to keep this up during the

show, the next place he could really run.

Realistically would either be at the wood, the blue.

Grass or at the Santa Anita Derby.

All of those are hundred-point races, he doesn't need to do it,

it doesn't either points, he could run the next week at the

Lexington and a 20-point race, but then that puts him three

weeks out from the Derby, the points don't really want, you're

in, you're in the, like he doesn't understand anything.

So I think you're going to see, you know, is he had Derby

winner. Know what did shock me with this

field? Like we're no one's really blown

me away that he pulls it off. Yeah.

Is this a horse? That's a total live for hitting

an exotic. Eric.

Oh, for sure. Absolutely just because his

running style. Yeah, I mean he's run three

straight hundred speech figures. He fits the mold, the only mold

he won't have is when 100-point rights, but he'll be an

undefeated Whiteley race every year old.

Want to turn race, right? Yeah, there's numerous times and

was the grass race. He lost the Civil on tape, was

that onto turns or one. Do you know?

I can't remember. Now, I just literally just

washed it but he again, was up front the whole time and then

solve Lon T kind of made that late charge on the turf.

But I mean, King Guillermo looked a lot better on the dirt

and Rain and respectful. Speak figures on the turf.

Again a 103 in November. And at late November or 105 in

early November both on the turf. This is definitely, you know, a

horse that I think could be coming into his own and somebody

to watch. But yeah, another horse that,

you know, I got a, I got a guess, you know, I was, I was

way wrong I guess with my stuff last week because the the other

horse that I got to get some props to I guess, was authentic.

We both did not have authentic winning this race friend of the

show. Megan Divine did.

So shout out to Mike Devine of course that she's better not.

So shocked horse did come in second but oh for sure yeah no

inauthentic ran as impressively in California as King gear mode

in Florida. It's a fair to say yeah.

I mean he again ran the one the whole led the way the whole

whole thing way through. That's exactly what you wanted

to see me. He ran a 10-5.

I mean there's an authentic to me is put himself in the

conversation that depending on what happens in his next time

out what his law does authentic is now looking like he's going

to be one of the top three picks for this for this race, if not

the favorite, I think bigger conversations that came out of

the San Felipe. Thousand words, probably, you

know, not a derby starter storm, the court look better than I

thought he would. Yes, he did.

Then we both did actually. Yeah, yep.

And honor AP looked looked legit.

I mean, I don't this was authentic authentic won this

Race easily. So I'm not going to be

surprised. If only one horse out of this

race ends up gracing. The first Saturday, mail, one

gave authentic this race. He went to the front.

He was the best horse. Period conversing knows.

He looked like justify winning this race Frankie and, and back

to what Heard from I'm not comparing him to justify by the

way. Just that style.

Just get to the front. Just one Tom agree.

We talking about he didn't care about run with the pack.

You got it. Yep.

And and so that shows you that he's got what it takes to

potentially be a Derby winner as well.

And then there was the Gotham Stakes.

I don't know if there's anything really to mention about the

Gotham sakes. We just that you and I had two

horses that landed in the top three.

Yeah. Right.

We both like, you liked on titled.

I liked attachment right there. Both ran on the top three.

If you're if you own one of those horses you probably feel.

Good about running them again and you might be able to

qualify. Yeah, right.

Yeah but I mean it was pretty unremarkable.

Sure wasn't. Yeah, it wasn't the best race

ever. But we also said last week on

the show, it feeds to the Wood Memorial, which the only thing

that it's good for is predicting who isn't going to win the Derby

recently, right, and that's not, that's not to say great horses.

Haven't come out of the wood, many good Belmont winners or you

know, horses that ran well as four-year-olds whatever, right.

Tacitus is a fine horse, right? He's just not, he's not a world

champion, that's okay, but it points to the woods.

So as far as talking about who we think will win the Derby,

eventually this race didn't help us determine that.

I like I do like though the other two horses, I feel like

there was a lot to be said for the way that the only sad thing

by the way, it was icy store and 9th.

Yes. So we didn't get to have our

voices to Placencia on the show, but he had put money in hands of

Phil, by the way I did. It was only right for me.

Yeah that's the only thing I was really legitimately rooting for

this weekend but Houston. Yeah.

I could see that. The so those are quick recap of

we guess what happened? Because we have plus I mean it's

a quick recap will get into the doping thing I'm sure with.

Well yeah with guest of the day friend of the show.

What's his name? John Mike, I'm not gonna mention

thing. Okay.

All right. I'm gonna make you do it and

then you want to measure So the California.

No, no, I'm good for the show from the Los Angeles Times on

travel Beyond with us. Jason service is the name on the

trainer line for mischievous, Alex, the former, the former

trainer maximum-security. Correct?

Who just won the Gotham and just one enough points that that's

going to be a horse that can can race.

And so we're going to have to raise them therapy.

So, we'll have to see who takes mischievous, Alex, from here.

And if he leaves new Ork, super interesting.

So, question here though, the big story I guess it came out of

the the 27, federal indictments with which Services, of course,

is at the Forefront of Maximum Security is at the Forefront of

midnight, be sooo, trying to get that winner's share, right?

They got a case. No.

We're going to leave it at that. Let's get into it with John.

Okay, that's fine. We can definitely do that.

I definitely, if you're the West's do you do it on principle

like, give them the money? Yeah, no.

Okay. All right, thanks.

I mean, are they going to they going to pay my my winning

ticket of BC then I mean, because that's not going to

happen, right? But they're not going to take

away maximum Securities payouts on the winds and then give me my

you know because I had BC Across The Gorge that's not Happen,

right? I think that's unfortunate that

You know, Obi, it's probably got a bigger effect on Mischief with

Alex, going forward than it does own anything else, right?

So, you know, was he the last the last doped, you know, he

could have been it's a really important question and I can't

wait to talk to John. Ask him.

All right. Well, then why are we?

Why are we Waitin? Let's just let's just head to a

break. We'll come back.

We'll bring John in and we'll talk about the current events in

the horse racing World in. We'll go from there.

The rest of the Sports World knew Well, you know, no one's

coughing in here. No one's got a fever.

The coronavirus is not in the studio.

All right, we'll be right back. This is the horse racing, happy

hour. Alright, welcome back to the

horse racing. Happy hour.

Mike and also here with Lira bow and our special guest from the

Los Angeles Times, mr. John Sheva John, Hyde's.

It going today. Things are things that let's

just say, interesting World of Sports.

What is actually for people that don't know you actually do teach

So, what is going on at your University right now?

The entire State of Florida has gone to online teaching as they

also do SL st. In California too.

So, you know, it's, you know, I've been in this business, 40

years and I've never seen anything like this and I just

got a nautical to date when we're recording this, but I just

got a flash on my phone at the NCAA.

Finally, officially canceled the NCAA tournament.

Other that just look real, that's breaking news right here,

that is breaking news. Oh, wow.

You know, you've got no no NBA or suspension of NBA NHL MLB

this morning. Cancelled spring training,

didn't cancel it again. I think suspended NHL MLS the

Atlanta, stock car race, NASCAR race will be done without fans

and of Horse Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields and Aqueduct

and I don't know what's going on in Kentucky, will be running

their races without fans which for weekday racing is you know,

is just par for the course at Santa Anita.

Well, we were actually, we were actually planning on going to

Turfway park for the Jeff Ruby Stakes mainly because, you know,

they're getting ready to Basically demolish, the in the

be our last chance to go, the Old Turf way, before they do the

new Renovations, but I don't know, I guess it's kind of its

kind of up in the air right now, so we'll see.

Well, I don't, you know, I think the difference might be, if

you're Governor has, you know, said no Gatherings over, you

know, to it's like 250 people in California, 500 New York.

I don't know if they've done that in Kentucky yet or if they

will, you know, but when you think about it, you know

everybody uses these the self self serve vending machines,

right? Right.

Kitt. Can you can you think of if

yours the track of better? Transmitter of things you don't

want germs. We've been those self-service

machines. How tell me about that you

could. Yeah, you're right.

I mean it could be pretty bad. I mean I pretty much even at the

track been on my phone and I just want to.

I just kind of Envision you teaching your class online with

a TV GF still pulled up the same time.

Like you're just killing two birds with one stone.

That's what that's what's best for me.

I don't teach in the spring semester.

So okay, there you go. So all the entire state law in

Kentucky. There are recommendations but he

hasn't made any decrees yet, right?

And so we are kind of fingers crossed I mean I'm still

planning on Saturday but you know there's there's a there's a

chance that Turf will be shut down.

I am I have been told that we probably will have our young,

our children at home for the next three weeks that they're

going to start canceling school starting Monday.

So I got to figure out something to do with my kids for the next

three weeks. Which could be what fun or not,

but I guess Florida's already doing it.

So no floor. Florida's, not just universities

for where I am this. This coming week is spring

break, so they'll give him a chance to assess things, but I

know Ohio just went to a three-week brighter Hiatus for

Public public schools and which, which brings up the question,

where do people in for to go for spring break?

The, you know, that's, that's a great quick actually neighbor

mind was just over here and they were going to go to Puerto Rico,

but they can't. Sold out of that.

Yeah, I don't know. I flew on Saturday night on a

flight that I normally take from LA to Orlando that is almost

always full and the flight was half empty.

Wow. So, you know, like I said, these

are times of that we've never seen seen before.

So so you guys are you know, at the epicenter of horse racing,

what's going to happen with the Derby.

It's a great question. I'm seeing now just on Twitter.

I'm Back on now John that you mentioned it, Marty McGee from

the daily racing form of course, kind of the authority on

Kentucky racing. Keeneland has announced a no

spectator policy for its entire spring meet.

Wow. And that is and describing

Keeneland, I'm sure you've been there, John describing Keeneland

to people from outside of the market.

That's a place that everything stops in Lexington, for the

Caitlin meet. I mean, it just does like you

You don't have to ask for the day off if you have tickets to

go to Keeneland, you just go your boss can't really argue

with you and you know opening day is a huge deal and you know

the whole thing and so for Keeneland to announce that they

are going to be spectator list which includes by the way the

Bluegrass on April 4th 100-point race for the Kentucky Derby.

I am starting to believe that I am not going to be at the Derby

this year, really? Yeah.

So I'm an optimist and I will say that I think that what are

what we're trying to do as a government is the key.

Movement of what happens when you have forest fires out in

California and you, you burn the field that the fires getting

ready to go to, so that there's nothing else for it to burn.

So I feel like we're trying to be proactive on stopping the

spread of this as much as possible so that we have maybe a

blip in the economy. We have a may be a blip in

people's lives, versatile versus it being a like a major major

disruption especially to the economy and I have my my feeling

as I feel like this is going to be a two or three-week really

inconvenient thing and that we're going to get on the other

side of this. And hopefully by Derby time,

we're kind of moving on, with life, as normal.

Maybe when things start to warm up, we start to see the virus

die off. I know there's some, there's

some people that think that could happen.

Some people think it won't happen, you know.

I just, I'm, I'm kind of hopeful that, that's the path that I've,

I still feel like we're getting, you know, I'm a part of Terry

Festival, we're not. We're not really talking about

canceling Thunder Over Louisville yet, okay?

I mean, I still feel like there's a now that decision

might be made for us. We'll see correcto, right?

So, and that would be the crowd to out to cancel it for ya.

I'm sorry, John, go ahead. I hope your optimism is correct.

What I'm sort of hearing is that this thing will dragged into the

middle of the summer, but I don't, I don't know.

I mean, when you think of it too, and I know this is horse.

Racing. But in all of sports, we do we

really need an 82-game NBA season and we need all the

playoff games to be best-of-seven, does baseball

need to play 162 games this year.

It's baseball made 162 games. Exactly.

So I don't know, maybe this could be a big, you know, help

sort of Reform Sports a little bit well and I do understand why

they would have this, the no Spectators there.

I don't understand whether or not playing the games And I

think my biggest in the biggest thing to for like if you take

away the spectators being able to go to the games room, every

shut down, and we got to be in our houses, like not having the

games is a huge is taken away. What is can be a big distraction

for people? It helps people deal with it,

right? I mean this the story of sports

and what happens is is so important.

And I know we've had a couple NBA guys, including Donovan

Mitchell who played here. The University of Louisville who

has tested positive for the coronavirus and these kids

aren't immune to Transmitting the disease.

But, you know, if you can somehow say, Hey, you know,

we'll test the guys before they play.

We'll see who comes up positive. The coronavirus will try to play

the one, you know. I just feel like the game should

be played, I don't know that the threat of spreading, it really

is that big. When we're just talking about

20, people, if in a basketball game of 50, 30 people in the

past, we need for whatever else, it might be Well, one thing that

is we're talking through this is horse racing could benefit from

like the Vegas Crowd. Oh yeah.

In the fact, you know, the sharps that they can't fit the

NBA, they can't bet the tournament beat you know, they

can't get all these other sports.

Does that mean that that even if they're not running before any

people that, you know, horse racing, might see an increase in

handle. I don't know if that's true or

not, but that's something to chew.

It's gonna be interesting I think John's right actually

about that part. Well, I think with no NCAA

tournament, a bunch of people have already booked their trips

to Vegas for that. We Apple go like crazy for that

week and people are going to be betting those ponies, I think

and frankly if you're saying Anita maybe that's when you

figure out how to be open on a Thursday, right?

You know but you need horses for that but you know I change

topics on you but This horse racing had a pretty lousy week.

Yes, it did starting out and nobody's talking about, you

know, the horse doping, the drugging of two very famous

trainers and including the horse.

That was, you know, Eclipse Award winner and just won the 20

million dollars, Audi cup. That's, you know, I don't know

if there's a for horse racing, if there's a silver lining.

Being that people aren't talking about that because they're

talking about everything else. Well let me ask you this

question because Louis and I had this conversation earlier this

week. If maximum-security stands as

the Derby winner, is it a bigger story?

Because that seems like the justify thing.

Got completely blown out of proportion and this is getting

nowhere close to as much mention of that.

And it might be the the coronavirus reason that might be

why this is not been as such a big deal.

But I'm wondering if, if maximum security would have stood as the

dirt, as the Kentucky Derby winner.

If this would have been a bigger story, alright, I think it

absolutely would have because, you know, its it is, you know, I

don't know if you guys have talked about, should

maximum-security be allowed to keep his board?

We haven't talked about that exact thing.

Or should he be able to keep the Saudi money?

Is another exactly we did talk about that briefly.

Yeah. And, you know, not to be cynical

but, you know, Gary and Mary West were, you know, is quite

shocked and but, you know, it happened.

But is this not a situation of the movie Casablanca?

We're Claude Rains is sitting, I'm shocked.

I'm shocked to learn. There's gambling in here because

service and let's also get it right out there.

This is all Alleged, it's not the he hasn't been convicted.

It's all in the investigatory stage but he has had that rep

because of his huge winning High winning percentage for a while.

So you know, our being our are, we surprised that that's the

trainer it came down on and although Navarro was allegedly

The Mastermind of it. Well, and frankly, you know, it

reaches not just with maximum security but the winner of the

Gotham this year, just this past weekend was mischievous.

Alex trained by goodbye as a service by Service as well,

right? So, you don't know that I'm

saying that I need to be really careful that you're not missing

out your services. There's 2J Services, isn't

there? There's John and Jason.

Yeah. So I got to make sure that I'm

getting this right? But I don't get in there.

Yeah, well actually John service.

So never mind. We talked about that earlier.

I apologize to everybody. It's actually John service that

trains him but specifically carefully, hopefully nothing

going on there. But all I want is that had

Midnight Beast. You across the board Sadiq up.

So I just want my I just want my my wind total on that one.

So if TVG gets please credit my account that would be nice.

Like the red ten dollar yes refunds after the dirt with a

maximum-security, right? Go ahead, John but the think

about this, if Midnight Beast, who has made the winner, would

that make Mike Smith Share that he has to give the penalty for

the whip? But infraction be even higher,

the ripples are two hundred and ten thousand dollars.

All right, so not to go back. I got to put my phone down, I

just got a text message from a buddy who comes to the derby, a

lot John, and he wrote. So the Derby is the official,

welcome back to sports event. So he's hopeful who that he want

that the Derby will be kind of the thing that reopens the

sports calendar. And frankly, we're looking at

what seven weeks to the derby. Is that right?

It is exists six weeks. Well, seven weeks.

Yes. Yes, seven weeks of the Derby.

So, so other people are more hopeful than me.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just really Furious.

My all of my kids and put them in the same time.

They're probably allow the median, right?

So we'll still get to go. I don't know what will the l.a.

times allowed John to travel with a let you travel down?

Well, I'm talking about you. Well, see, they actually have a,

we do have a travel ban on right now but they've, they've

allowed, you know, beat writers. When there were beats the cover

to do that just came down earlier this week.

And in California, the people that are allowed to To show up

at the tracker, you know, CHR be licensed and the media is also

allowed. And I would, I would assume that

that would be the case in Louisville at Churchill Downs,

but I'm just wondering if, you know, if for once in my life, if

I can get a cheap hotel room in Derby week, Louis said, you can

stay at his place I don't know if that's something care.

Not for little kids, that sounds like John's dream beautiful and

for Louise got that. There's a top bunk.

But that's right Hangouts hang out with my six-year-old or

something. Yeah.

Right. But now do you think you will be

how about just a little prognosticating for you?

John do you think you'll be in attendance at the Santa Anita

Derby? That's all for our little terms.

That's on April 4th yeah that that is a great I think so.

Okay what you the truth is my wife didn't want me to go to

this past weekend but I did. And yeah, I I think, I think I

will. I mean, if things are really,

it's sort of counterintuitive, but things are really bad, there

won't be a lot of people on the plane and there won't be, you

know, your chance for close contact won't be as great.

Yeah. I would like to think I'll be

the sanity to Derby, but, but, you know, any thoughts?

I might have had to do like, the Arkansas Derby, right?

I will do the for dinner because that's just the drive for me,

but, you know, and, you know, The Florida Derby, we're going

to get to see authentic, who is, you know, baffert is really high

on Thousand Words. Didn't, you know, really

flattened out in the races past Saturday?

But, you know, again I you know who's the favorite is it is the

law? Is it, is it authentic.

I mean, authentic, look the part.

I mean, there's no question that authentic came out and made a

statement with the way that he ran in the San Felipe and quite

honestly, Louis. And I both didn't it?

Really expected. We kind of, we kind of felt that

maybe baffert's Barn was Maybe a little overly inflated about how

good it was but and I still feel, you know, charlatan will

find out this weekend, if it where he's at.

And but it authentic, looks like a legit.

I mean, he's going to be one of the top worry.

We're a little split on the show John.

I think Charlotte is absolutely the real deal and and Mike I

just wait and see. I was gonna say I was get, ya

think you're more of a wait and see but you know for me I think

charlatans a real deal. So with authentic shipping to

Florida, does that mean he plans to run?

Run charlatan in a senator be then.

I'd actually you're breaking news for me.

I authenticate shipping, the Florida.

Didn't know. John did say that, but I think I

know you were talking about the sin Anita Derby.

I'm sorry, okay. You said you were going to the

Florida Derby, then you mentioned authentic.

Okay. So he'll stay, you gotta gotta.

Okay. I took it like that first, you

just okay. I was thinking, holy moly,

that's way outside of baffert comfort zone, so that's really

interesting. Actually, a right fabric is not

go to know where they in the Hills.

Coming back to the two thousand words rather than authentic.

But then of course you know after the sample EP on Saturday

he was pretty fired up about authentic whoo-hoo.

I thought epitomized what she you know the phrase of

push-button horse because when you know he needed to you know

put some separation there at the end it was like effortless and

he just runs so so effortlessly I agree that's what stood out to

me to like on the back stretch. Like he just he looked like he

was jogging and it just looks so easy for my Agree.

Yeah. And you know Cheryl's and I got

to see I can't do that off One race.

Excuse me. A cough is okay.

It's just a little stronger, the bourbon kills, everything.

Just wanna let you know that. But you know Bob, you know, he's

I don't we will find out if made all of the real deal.

The rebel, you know, authentic we know is and Charlton will

find out some more about it or about him.

But thousand words, I'm I think he's down in the BT rate

friends, who hasn't bleep run since last year we probably

haven't I don't know where he's going to place him so I think

he's got one other horse. That's I think he hit six

workings but I can't whatever the other one was must not be

you know? Top of the Heap for him.

No, that's probably right. We'll get.

So, let's go back to, you know, we talked about the San Felipe,

you wrote about it a little bit in the, in the newsletter.

And John, we forgot to Pub the newsletter.

John's newsletter is the LA Times horse racing newsletter,

comes free to your inbox in your email, any time that they're

running in Southern California or there's an important recap on

Southern California racing. So go ahead and go sign up for

that King Guillermo wins in Tampa Bay and believe it or not.

We actually talked about King Guillermo on the show last week.

Seek his number will brag. His numbers were, it's not

sitting in Bob baffert's golf cart humble brag, but it's

pretty good. The onus of the, you know, just

everything about how he ran that race.

John, that's talking position, the speed figure finishing

really strong looked like a horse.

That could be a problem going forward.

Tell me why King Guillermo out of Uncle Mo, frankly, and

150,000 dollar horse isn't isn't a problem going forward, isn't

isn't something that we should be watching.

You know I think your arguments are extremely well founded but

when was the last horse that you know, came out of Tampa Bay and

street signs. Right since 2007's.

Yeah. Yeah.

It's been a while and you know and my mind's wandering here is

to have there was a horse that there was that a we're wondering

there's the horse for the course The Gulfstream Horse horse.

I think was the favorite in that there's really did not look.

Good because I've got a chance. It can't, it can't.

Yeah, thank you. You can't fault that and there's

talk that he might just go straight to Churchill Downs.

Okay, well he's got the points. Yeah, basically, I mean 50

points down, you're going to get in.

I mean, there's no question. So yeah.

And they haven't really announced anything else beyond

that. I mean, it's, that's a pretty

long The off. I mean, that probably hurts him.

You know, be interesting to see if he tries to Buck the system

and not go to one of the major 100-point races.

If he tries to do something a little bit like the sun Lenore

the sun is a little probably too little close.

But yeah, we were talking, I mean, frankly coming out of

Tampa. The problem is you're already in

March the next race, you could really realistically.

Run in a month later are all hundred-point Races where you're

going to run into major contenders so the wood, the

Bluegrass or the Santa Anita Derby and the rebels.

A week later. You could wait for the Arkansas

Derby week later. Yeah.

Garden solving a problem and that was this weekend.

Yeah. Or do you run in the Lexington,

which is 20 Point Race because you don't need the points.

But, frankly horses, tend not to, like, you talked about

Tampa, not a good predictor for Derby winners.

Keeneland is not a good predictor for every winners

either. And so running a free tip and

then Keeneland might be a double a double whammy.

We're kind of wondering if he if he's just going to go to

Churchill Downs and train and run on running met.

Well, you know, you'd like to have something in them to

sharpen them up. I agree goes to and Lexington,

could you could fit that bill, right?

But, you know, I think it could also be if he if he decides to

go right from the Derby, you know, he's got all the makings

of being, you know, the Wise Guy Horse.

Right. Absolutely the horses.

Yeah? Yeah.

You know, nobody's looking at him and, you know, I think

that's that could be his place. But you know, why skyhorse

sometimes Most of the time doesn't right, you know.

So so we'll find out and we'll know more tomorrow.

I mean, I, you know, justify we knew remember justifies.

First Stakes was the was the Santa Anita Derby, right?

So you know, charlatans if he wins in the allowance on

Saturday, then I think I think I don't know where Bob Bob Would

shift from then. We just watch it to see what

dragon Van Dyke does. And says, if he who he rides

because if he, that's my favorite thing to do, if you

have to give you the choice between authentic, and

charlatans, you know, that's a pretty good problem to have and

I guess, yeah. He's gonna take away.

You think she's got the best chance, right?

Well, I think. No, I think you look to see

whether Bob puts Van Dyke or if he goes to like Rosario, Yeah,

or or somebody else? You're Johnny V?

Heck yes. The nose area now have the same

agent Ron Anderson Johnny D's ridden for Bob but you know

Drayton is pretty and kind of, you know, get the short end on

justify because you know he wrote In Those first couple

races and then Mike Smith came in.

I think we can we can basically say that Mike Smith will not be

on Bob's a horse. That's probably pretty fair.

I've answered. You know, so you know what?

We'll just you know get a lot to play out and it's pretty

interesting. I mean, you know, you know next

week I get. Oh I could tell you.

Okay. I've seen they dolls.

You know, again, I've seen Charleston again.

Okay. Authentic is the horse or know

either charlatan or two is, you know, if it didn't, you know, is

it to the law? I mean, doesn't he?

Of course, you know, zero in on California horses but You know,

right. We could come from from

somewhere else, obviously like, I mean, I do expect is a lot of

wind that the Florida Derby, you know?

And come in, I think, I think you're going to be looking at is

low or authentic, being the Top Choice in the derby.

So, all right, yeah, right. The Florida Derby winner and

then the top horizontal California, right?

Yeah, yeah. I think that's an Anita Derby

winner and somebody out of. Yeah.

Somebody out of the Florida. Derby will be your favorites.

I think that sounds right. I'm interested though.

Because if If Bob's ship and if beverage shipping to the wood

that's that's because it's like thousands of words only chance

to really get in. I'll give if he can have a

understand. Yeah, but I mean that's that's

actually interesting because we talked on the show, John about

good predictors for Derby winners and the wood has not

been a good predictor for many almost two decades frankly

tacitus hit the board last year on a disqualification and that

was sort of miraculous out of the wood and then we found out.

That's all that tacitus does, is it?

And so you know, to shift to the would that way to ask this one,

the paint, we do everywhere the way.

Yes, he did that. Yeah, there you go.

There's a good example actually. So just I mean, John, in your

opinion, I mean, coming out of that out of any of the other

races this weekend. Did you see anything in the

Gotham, the caught your eye, or behind King?

Guillermo, do you think so Volante still?

He's gonna be there in May, right?

I mean, those two total horses from Tampa Bay have enough

points. I mean, sold the lot size.

Got got a, you know, he has 30 points together already so he

can go if he wants to do either any of those other horses.

Catch your eye. Yeah, I mean, I'm not not

really. I mean again I think it you have

to wait until that. Very, I mean, it was I was

talking to Bob about this actually last week, is I really

miss having that extra prep in there, you know?

But now we're basically down to, you know, three preps in there

in the derby right in the year and kind of liked it when it was

for gave you a better? A better chance to look at

things. But I, you know, I I think we're

just going to have to, you know, wait for the 100 pointers and

see who shakes out of that. And, you know, we come up in a

couple of weeks before the Derby and then the same affinities

Derby and then the the Arkansas Derby and I'm hoping I can only

see two of them. So we got a pretty good rebel

Stakes coming up this weekend. The rebel, you know, again, that

that yeah, that's, that's a doll, you know, million dollar

race. And, and it's only one division

this year. And last year, was to, of

course, because it's a need, it wasn't run.

Yep. And you know, that's, that's who

I'm looking at and you know, you guys probably have some Insider

knowledge as some of the other horses that you like, well, just

because basins one, a grade one. I think that, you know, you, I

just feel like this field is it's got a lot of talent in it

outside and A darling Basin. I just ultimately it sets up to

be a pretty high-quality 50-point race so it'll be

interesting to see who comes out and who looks good, you know,

just everywhere from Silver prospector, he's one of the

Southwest stakes and you got American theorem out of American

pharoah of we're looking, is there one of those American

pharoah offspring that can really make some noise but a

nice horse sad. B will be interesting.

It's also a race. Yeah.

That for some reason really favors favorites generally

speaking. Yeah like I mean in the last 11

times that it's gone off the winners been 44, 21 or better

eight times and so yeah. It's a race that really seems to

do that. I mean, of course, American

Pharaoh came out of here. Omaha Beach beach came out of

here, then at long range, toddy, one the other one last year

there. That's right.

Yeah. Okay.

Let me some probable came in second.

Was that right? Game-winner came in second?

Yeah, pretty good horses. So, well, John, you know what

the weather is suspended, the weather report for the

coronavirus weather allowed in Arkansas.

It is a trip, by the way, I want to make.

I need to make the Oak Lawn, just gonna rain all weekend in

Arkansas. And I mean, all weekend,

starting starting tonight, frankly, so you're going to get

the, you're going to get speed, it's going to your mother.

Who's your mutter pick in the Kentucky Derby since that's

coming to play a lot? There's been a lot of work

horses have won this thing. I mean, curling, its part of

John's looking to Lucky, huh? Smarty?

Jones won this race right Smarty Jones?

Yeah, speaking of that war emblem passing away.

Sure if I saw that got to be one so I do want to get back to like

bigger. Issues in the sport.

We kind of glazed over the service.

FBI indictments John. How many more trainers do you

think get caught up in this? It can't be just the two of

them, right? Well, the rack I think seven or

nine trainers that were caught up in it.

I don't really know though. You know what you've heard the

whole this is the tip of the iceberg so on and so forth.

I think I am not going to name them but I think there are a

couple of California trainers that are probably a little bit

nervous about now any of them had problems previously.

Just the I have a guy in the that I use in the newsletter

named Rob Hani yah, who is a handicap?

And and he refers to some of the trainer's as super feed trainers

and you know, people who basically outperformed their

there, what would be reasonable staffs.

And so you know he's named and I don't use them in the new so I

don't don't name them in the newsletter because It is, you

know, slightly, it's nothing nothing proven sure.

But you know it's you know again to get back the service.

Let's not forget. That maximum security was a

16,000 flavor. Yeah, started his career as a

16,000 claimer. So anyway, is this the tip of

the iceberg? I don't, I don't know.

That certainly would be conventional wisdom, but as

another story that I was actually editor on that I worked

was the big college basketball scandal about.

Last three or four years ago we have your playbook.

They were yeah, they were saying oh this is the tip of the

iceberg. Nothing ever happens.

And I think the really interesting thing about you know

that the federal guys were talking about was that this was

not what they were going after they were going after something

else and just sort of stumbled into this.

And wouldn't it be great if we knew what they were really going

after that would, that would be pretty good but I don't I don't

know what it is. So you know and if you look at,

if you read the report as I'm sure you did, you know, they

have the intercepted telephone calls, it looks pretty strong, I

would not be again. Nothing is proven, but I would

not be shocked if you know these two major trainers and Once in

jail time or something. Yeah, that's where I wonder John

because I agree with you that it looks it seems very strong and

in usually in those kinds of cases you end up giving up other

people to get less jail time, right?

Yes, you do. And so I think that's where

that's going in. So I wouldn't be surprised if

those two guys start quote, unquote singing and we hear

about other people, unfortunately.

So but I say, unfortunately, do you have an opinion?

I mean, is this, is this a chance?

I mean, you know, if you followed horse racing Twitter,

When those came out, people were it was pretty unanimous.

Good, get these guys out of here.

This isn't what we need to be doing.

You know, the report came out this week that that horse

fatalities are really trending toward a record low overall.

And so, you know, there's there's there's good things seem

to be happening for horses and horse racing.

So for this to come out at the same time do you see it as a

Tipping Point? Or is this just going to happen

every couple of years and it's just part of the sport.

You know, I would like to think that this is a Her horse racing,

the clean itself up. But you know again, let's think

about this was anybody that anyone when these guys were

named, Did anyone say oh my goodness, those are the last

guys. I would think would be involved

in this. No, and so it's like we've known

about it. We've known about the

allegations we've known about you know, if someone is winning

it like 47 percent and that's sort of made up that figure.

If it doesn't make sense, you know, and, and even even

baffert, you know, he just wins in the 30% range or or or less,

you know, his numbers are not are not like, what out of whack

like, like Services work. So, you would like, to think

that horse racing can make a positive of it.

But as you've heard me, say before whenever the opportunity,

you know raises itself for horse racing, Do something right?

They do something wrong and and you know, we'll just have to,

we'll just have to see. It's a little early, you know,

will everyone will forget about it for however, two years.

It takes to actually get this thing trial or if it's to get it

and maybe we'll learn a lot, you know, doping and drugging in or

supports, racing has been around as long as horse racing and if

you guys remember back, when the the All-American Futurity was

like the first million-dollar two million dollar race, it was

a quarter horse race. Well that was the race that they

would always they would try out the new drugs and that's when

drug testing was way behind the drug taking and I think it's

become a luck a lot closer. Now you know, and then they want

to do the horse racing Integrity act, actually I'm okay, this is

a good question for you guys. The horse racing Integrity, act

will pass The house, it will go to the Senate.

Churchill Downs is not in favor of the church, the horse-racing

Integrity act. If the Republicans hold the

Senate as they probably will, will Mitch McConnell bring that

bill to the floor, my guess is now probably not.

Yeah, whatever brings Supreme Court nominees to the floor.

I mean why would he bring a horse racing bill that Churchill

Downs? Doesn't like to the board to the

fluoride out a very much. He's a very willing not to even

bring things to the floor. So I would be not Rise, if he

decided not to do that. So yeah, I mean, you know, as it

is, I mean, he's this this section, he's like very little

to the floor and there's like, 200 bills in there that that

that he had in the house of past, he hasn't done.

And, you know, that's that's one of the things to, you know, the

animal rights groups or just you know.

All right. You know this is a now we've got

to get the horse racing Integrity Act passed which as

I've written several times. It's not so much, you know, a

And what a concept, you know, there's a lot that's not there

and you know, completely sot /, / horse racing medication, but I

wonder if they realize that, you know, the legislative process is

such that it doesn't take much to block it.

And if Mitch McConnell, still Senate leader, when it comes to

his desk, or maybe it'll come before the election, I don't

really know. Will he just say Say no, right.

I don't think I'm gonna bring it and Churchill Downs.

Gets their way. Churchill Downs by way.

Just released a statement that says, the basically that there's

preparations to host the Kentucky Derby. 146 on the first

Saturday in May at Churchill Downs, is are still moving

forward. So, third taking a wait-and-see

to, I mean, obviously, you know, I think the the it's logical for

them to do and see because that is I mean what 80 percent of the

revenues that week. So I'm like the under 75 for the

year, probably, I think incredible.

Some yeah, John one last big picture question.

Before we let you go, Mike Smith gets us a very sizeable

suspension from the Saudis and then it's upheld in California

except that he got to race on Saturday before.

Blah. What um, what's the word in your

circle about that suspension? We I mean we haven't really

talked about it. On are two other little bit.

I thought it was a little bit of an overreaction but but that

there are people in the industry.

Pretty livid about that decision.

What's, what's your you have it? Take on it.

Do you have you know if you talk to people that feel that way or

don't feel that way what's what's the John Sherman?

Take on that? You know everyone thought it was

excessive. But I think the takeaway from

this thing is if you're a jockey are you going to go and want to

ride in the Saudi cup in the future?

That's my takeaway. Now, you know, I thought the

coverage on on FS 1, which again was using some local feeds was

just Dreadful, you know? Because they would use that, you

know, the car on the inner rail camera which is not what we're

a. Maybe that's a great, great

angle, but but not what we're used to.

So, I couldn't see, I couldn't see, midnight, be sooo on the

rail, like I couldn't see that this myth is, you know, hitting

the hitting her. 14 times or whatever.

But yeah I think if you're trying to build something and

the Saudis, you know, clearly our that that that's really not

the way to bring over the brightest and the best is such a

severe penalty. Although again, I, you know,

Victor Espinoza could knock a 031 times down the stretch and

in, Kentucky Derby and what's not did not get any fine.

But, you know, I guess to put a silver lining on it at least no

American journalists were killed during the running of the

sidestep. All right, John, well, we will,

I'm sure we'll talk to you soon. I appreciate you coming on and

hopefully, you know, we get to see you on the first Saturday,

but I guess it's kind of up in the air.

Well, that's my plan. Would have done by now, but are

you staying at your favorite? Mexican restaurant?

Yes, I do. Okay.

All right. What dinner?

El Nopal? I haven't looked at yet.

Actually, they were building another hotel right next to

their, it's up and going. Yeah, that's right.

Yeah, what is what kind of hotel is that?

I can't remember. We drop pass it all the time.

Yeah, my kids, go to school right over there.

That's funny. It's it looks nice, but all new

hotels. Look nice right now.

It's kind of the point. It is a this is great radio,

right? Tremendous rate a podcast,

great. Yeah.

It is a Candlewood Suites because you usually stay at the

Ramada when they get away, all the secrets safe, the Ramada, I

was gonna have all these groupies has shown up.

Yeah, no, I know. All all the

Like that. Okay.

Yeah, yeah. All right, I'm sure we can, we

can count on this part of the podcast to be edited out because

no one. Absolutely cares.

That's like half the podcast job.

Yeah. You clearly don't get the show.

All right. There we go.

John, thank you for coming on. We'll talk to you soon and good

luck. All right, we'll see you in.

Just a reminder to everybody LA Times horse racing newsletter.

Go find out what John's doing and what's going on, especially

as As Derby season approaches and all those dirty Parts you're

going on, John does have inside with all the trainers out there

so you do get a bunch of good information.

There you go. Alright, alright well we're

going to take take our last break.

We'll be right back on the horse racing, happy hour.

All right. Final segment of the

horse-racing happy hour here with Luis Roberto Mike and all

faux and stable boy NCAA. Any Bruce is not afraid of

Hebrews, it CWI has canceled, not only the employee tournament

but all of their remaining championships including the

Frozen for the College World Series.

The The rowing National Championship, the bowling

National Championship mean, so they're all that stuff.

Is I'm actually to the point. Now, I'm wondering what is ESPN

going to even cover? Like what?

Right does it as a what do they do?

They just go off the air, maybe it's a good time to show

historic like it all the ESPN just turns into ESPN classic

again. You know, because there's

nothing for them to talk about your CVS.

Is that what you do to you show? Like the 25 best?

Yeah. Well this is what John was

talking about. This is where having a sport

like horse racing, you might actually Be able to catch these

things. I am really starting to wonder

and I'll stand by what I said earlier, if you, and I are going

to be at the Derby this year. Well, I got you now, you know,

this is a very busy time of year for me.

I mean, the Derby Festival events ramp up.

It'll be very interesting to see what ends up happening there.

It'll be in the city of Louisville.

Just announced that all events in the city of Louisville on

city property or done till April 7th.

So we've got what does that 25 26 days cities essentially

taking off. So, What's it going to be like,

for st. Patrick's Day on Tuesday.

I wouldn't go. So, it'll be be, it's gonna be,

it's gonna be bizarre. I, I think Thunder of a little

could seriously be in trouble, and this is not.

That is not me saying that. As an official, Kentucky Derby

Festival, right person? That's just an observation we

have. Literally, I, we had a, we had a

Thunder Over Louisville meeting on Tuesday.

Yeah. And we actually brought up the

South by Southwest Conference and the fact that they canceled

that and it seemed to really hurt the City of Austin.

Austin. Yes.

That we're actually really trying to pull this off, right?

And there was never a mention at all of us canceling, it gotta

stuff. Has escalated so much in two

days that now I'm not sure what's going to happen.

I would suggest to someone in your position that you, I have

no position. I just don't know my figurehead

and, you know, you're there for your looks the I understand but

I think Patience is what I would preach right now.

I totally agree. Just give it five six days, let

all the dust settle and see where we're at.

And then the Derby's at that lecture where they can do that,

right, right now they are. Yeah, I yeah, I would not look.

I want to be clear about this. I think the Derby happens.

I just don't know that I will get to go even as a media

member. Correct, I'm be shot to.

They don't let us in there's media members.

Well, how many media attend with?

I mean, because like, obviously, they don't need as many, okay,

but last year, we On ESPN, Radio 4.

I mean, they're going to still need us for that.

Kind of the post-race. That's true.

That's true everywhere. Actually like essential media

when it comes to that. Okay.

That part you're not Terror. If we get the chance to adjust,

I'm just wondering out loud. You know, it's and we don't know

are about to be fair. We don't know what our radio

plans are for this Derby yet. That's true.

Things have not shaked out all the way.

We don't know where our pre-race schedule is.

We don't know what our post race schedule is.

And you know who But if the Derby's the one sporting event

that's going to happen, you know there.

Yeah I mean I got a I got a text from my buddy Scott up in

Chicago during the taping here and he said well it looks like

the Derby is going to be the welcome back to sports event.

Damn it Scott. I hope you're right because it

would be I mean I'm here in. This is how I know we need to be

patient. I'm hearing reports, you know,

John talked about it being Midsummer, you know, this is the

first time in my career, I talk to every single one of my

clients in the same week. I talked to all of them I called

every single one of them this week first time in my life, you

know. And yeah.

So I'm just I don't I don't know maybe I'm just in this moment

right now. Yeah and I'm not seeing the

long-term outcome of this maybe maybe this you're right, maybe

we're doing the right thing and we're shutting stuff down, it'll

slow everything down and then people will get sick.

Like they do with the flu every year and we won't freak out

because we'll know what we're doing in a month essentially,

right? I hope so, we have a protocol.

This is what we're doing. If you get sick you have to do

this bubble blah. I know they have those things

already but you know, more cemented I guess.

But you know, I don't what I don't understand.

Is why you don't say something like, you can't go to the derby

if you're over 55. Well, I mean there's nothing

that's who we're getting sick. Do to you.

I mean, they're not dying. Yeah, that's right.

If you're worried about liability, it's older people

that are going to be reliability, right?

And so I don't know, maybe, maybe, that's ridiculous.

What I'm saying is you know, where the moment right now, you

know, hopefully it'll A little shake out.

But speaking of being in the moment we have to have stable

boy, give us a question and we also have to be in the moment

and talk about these races coming up this weekend where it

sounds like we're not going to Turfway Park unless they're

going to let in media know. And then we actually have this

huge storm role and there's a massive storm coming through

time. So go ahead, stableboy stupid

question of the day, Louise, going to give stableboy the

headset. This is riveting.

And here's this, this, by the way, I love this because I get

to have first crack as Louis. Don't have a microphone right

now. So okay well, I was going to ask

about the Derby, but then you guys address that several times.

So here's my next question, and I almost guarantee you don't

have an answer, okay? I saw that dogs.

Cannot contract the coronavirus and that is great news.

Can a horse contract, the coronavirus want me?

That's, I have no idea that. No, I don't.

I don't, I'm not, I don't know, idea of a horse can do it, or

not. Do you have any idea of a horse

can can get the coronavirus? I know that their prayer.

It's prevalent in animals, right?

So, let's see if there is a I saw a terrible joke that who the

World Health Organization, Let the Dogs Out.

Stable boys laughing because he's in that generation where

that kind of joke is funny. I like trains transmission.

All right, hold on. The coronavirus is spread when

feces from an infected horse. So there is a infected horse

part of the the coronavirus that they can get the horses can get

the you get the corner bars. So there you go butts and it's

spread through their feces. So coronavirus is spread when

feces from an infected horse is ingested by another horse.

So don't eat. Poop.

All right. I also think that if you're on

the Derby trail, that isn't something you do pretty much of

your horse's poop. You're like, we're not going to

run that horse in the derby, or we just don't care about our

horses. Exactly, right.

I mean, so my sense is, if you're on the Derby Trail,

you're a horse of such quality that you're not eating and

don'ts as he, whose, by the way, the name of this podcast, when

we upload it, don't eat poop. That's going to be.

It is that we're doing, I think so striking.

All right, stop the spread of coronavirus, don't eat poop.

That's The name, no mo, no mo Corona for Uncle, Bo having all

those horses running. And by the way, we know the real

reason why the instead of Lake canceled the employee

tournament, right? Here we go.

So they don't have to give the championship trophy to Kansas

and then take it away from. Come on, my cert team was going

to win this year. Well, was not going to be your

insert Michigan State. So that in Kentucky right now?

I don't know about that. That is not true.

And when the head-to-head, I'm pretty sure I can tell you one.

Back to the races, let's talk about this Rebel Stakes.

First before we talk about the Jeff Ruby.

So the rebel, I think this horse I think this race is shaping up

to be a really strong Race by the way.

And yeah, the rebel Oakland is still open to the public.

Is it really not friend of the show Dieter Dosa else's is there

right now? So a short field but but a good

field. Oh gray field.

And I think you're going to see whether or not you know is Is I

think asked me since obviously got to to good hitters here, I

think Basin this, but you're going to get the base in the

doll match up here. That is going to be really

strong sets up potentially for even a closer coming in to win

this thing off the a little bit off.

The pace. Silver prospector was so good in

the southwest. I'm really kind of funny so good

to turns I mean he's yeah he's here and here the, the Kentucky,

Jockey Club and one in the fall. I mean he's He's just a man keep

going. I'm sorry.

Well that's and that's who I'm kind of leaning towards more,

and more on this in this race is.

I mean asking you since does well in Arkansas, I just I think

I'm going to go silver prospector in this race, not to

sit, take anything away from Basin, but I think silver

prospector is going to be the best value play out of those

three. And so that's who I'm going to

that's who I'm going to take. Across the board.

By the way, that's how bad it might help horse-racing.

If American theorem can jump up and win this race just to get an

American pharoah, American Sanders has eight the board.

Okay, so I'm sorry, not interrupted.

Oh, that's okay. So do we think?

Yeah, I mean, I really like so silver.

Prospector last time out, is there another horse in here?

That kind of jumps out? I mean, you keep talking about

Basin D. I mean, do you like based on

that much Eileen basins one? A grade 1 which is I think a

huge Huge but I think it was a 1 turn race.

You know, I think your face is coming off in a huge lay off a

huge layoff. I think you're probably looking

at a, I mean, like September lay off, right?

And yes, and we're not even sure if this distance is something

that the trainers are basically places.

Be kind of basic, kind of horse. That used to run in the derby

before, right there? Yeah, before the points.

This is because he ran, he ran and races it at Saratoga

September could be a he couldn't have been a nice printer or a Or

my horse. But so that's why I think silver

prospector probably takes us since with the, with the win on

a to turn race, but Nadal, I mean, this is one of baffert's,

you know, go to one of the San Vicente.

I think the doll is is an up-and-coming type horse, for

for baffert, we're going to find out.

If, you know, if the doll an authentic both win and then we

are, they're going to head into their hundred races as

favorites. It's going to be Pretty

interesting to just kind of keep an eye on horse to wash to is no

parole 343 lifetime two ends of Fairgrounds and then I was like

Joe to lhamo one It Delaware. I don't know that he's run

against anyone. So I mean you know this will be

a telling race. I do agree with you that we're

going to will see some horses. But one, two, three, four of the

eight horses running are coming off wins in their last race.

All of them in graded Stakes. It's a good feeling.

This is this is a good 50. And third three technique came

second in a listed stakes and American theorem came second,

it'll integrated 1. And so this is a very nicely

tested field except for Coach ba, hey, who's coming coming in

here and has never run before. And if we want to talk about a

not-so-good field, then we can go to the Jeff.

Ruby's takes why the hate? It's not hate, it's just the

reality. I mean we got a one-eyed Finnick

the fierce in here who you know will bring back you name the

last horse too. To win the Derby.

That was largely a largely a tip.

Ada horse coming Ada. The synthetic coming in.

It's my favorite. ESPN 680 story of all time.

Mine that bird close. It was Animal Kingdom.

Oh, there you go. And Jason Anderson shot away,

Animal Kingdom. I believe, one, the Jeff Ruby

Stakes. Yes, that's a good point.

Yeah, man, off the Jeff Ruby's takes.

That's right. So it's not a zero but he was

what? 20, 21, 22, 21, something like

that. Yeah, so pretty off the board.

I don't know that there's a horse in here that I adore.

That was the last non-points winner.

I'm going to go with Halo again out of space town.

Okay? Same sire for charlatan And I

think that you also have a horse whose one yes.

Miss, I could win both of these races.

I do. Okay.

Interesting. Do with the win on the

synthetic. And you know, I just think the

Halo again, is the one that I'm going to go with Invaders,

getting a lot of love on this race.

Finnick, the fierce being the gelding, with one eye.

I mean, it's one enough, like you're gonna take the guy's

balls, you know, and he's got one eye, that's, that's rough.

So, I kind of took a little look at field pass, okay, as well as

kind of a longer shot play. Yeah, But I'm going to go with

Halo again across the board, might throw my throw.

Two bucks on Phillip Ashcroft support as well.

So, I'm trying to remember a, did we see Invader here at

Churchill Downs and Vader is now he's raced in Tampa and Belmont,

okay, I'm sorry Turfway. His teepee and Belmont.

Okay. One in Turfway, King.

December, right? Yeah.

Okay yeah, that's maybe where I remember them anyway?

Yeah, yeah. And he wasn't there.

So yeah, so I'm going to be on Invader and out of War front and

so yeah, let's go to be my horse 90 For Speed figure last

timeout. And we probably won't be there.

It sounds like we're not going to be there and that's why she

never responded to us. Yeah, and that's and that's

fair. So is it fair?

I think so. I know you're, I know.

You're you're you were planning on going to the Risen star.

Everything has fallen true for all of my birthday in Arizona

Geoffrey beene. That's right.

And now you're planning on the Derby and none of that's going

to happen. None of it's going to happen

because you are spreading the coronavirus.

Apparently I am Agent Zero your agency or there it is.

Okay, that's all we, that's all we have time for today.

And stable boy didn't have a stupid question because I had to

look it up. So I guess it makes me stupid to

you, but that's okay. We'll be, we'll be back here

next time as we get ready for these 100-point races and should

be should be good fun. All right, thanks for John
