146. Here's Mike Gandalf.
Oh Megan Divine and Louis, Robbo.
Hello, everybody. Welcome live.
From Churchill Downs after a historic in several ways, a
historic Derby 146. This is the horse racing happy
hour and I was wrong. That's all I'm going to say.
When you think we have a thing on the show for y'all who don't
listen I think women just get turned on by men we know but we
have this this thing like whichever horse, we besmirch on
the show is going to win. That's true.
It's going to win and that was true today because It's all
quite heavy on the besmirch method.
I went heavy on this. Perfect.
I did not think that that horse go wire to wire.
And when I saw that interesting, that that opening time, sub-20
step 23 is 22 929. The first fragment essentially
23 for the second and then actually in the, but those those
two times, that's didn't even hit the top ten of the fastest
splits, right? The mile split at 135 was the
third fastest ever. Wow, and then he comes Comes in
and as the sixth fastest Derby time.
The seventh Derby horse to ever, run sub 2001.
I mean authentic was the strawberries and was traffic.
It was great. No, no dad joke.
Everybody drink and you could say justify was justified.
You can say all that. It was authentic.
I think that's right. He looked like he looked just
fine today. He was absolutely fantastic.
I mean he had we mentioned earlier on the show.
He's had some issues before with being a bit.
Immature with being a bit, spooky saw that in the A
celebrations. But I mean, he was absolutely on
his game. He really came into his own this
week and he just seemed like a much, much more.
He was a man. He was a boy before.
He was a man once whole week and that's exactly what Bob said.
That's exactly what we said on the show.
And he was. Well, what I said, I mean the
great thing about the ride that Johnny Be gave him is that he
allowed him to stay off the rail, quite a bit in some spots,
because authentic can get a bit strong.
I mean, if you watch Umberto the rider for Bob, baffert Gallop
him, he has such a tight rein on that horse all the time because
he's so strong. He is Just trying to hold him
back. So keeping a horse off.
The rail. Oftentimes actually allows them
to relax a bit because they know as soon as you angle them into
the rail. It's go time.
So it helped him to stay relaxed.
He just was kind of leading the pack and it is a law to his
credit. Had to go a little bit wide in
some spots. He maybe didn't have the best
trip overall, but got his race though.
Ya know, I was racing. Why nothing was too.
I think you do looking towards races like the Breeders Cup.
Classic. Both those horses decide to go
there. You do have to consider, okay,
to his law, just ran two mile and a quarter races.
So I think it's gonna be really interesting setup, but it
doesn't take anything. Away from the fact that
authentic was absolutely fantastic today.
And so happy my research, you were one of my clients forbid or
so. It was really exciting to be
there for them and you could have bought into this horse for
two hundred and six dollars. Actually as late as today.
I don't know if they're still shares available.
Probably not after does that. What was crazy to me, too.
It's just so first off the historic side, Johnny V, third
derby win, but that's his 200th. Grade 1 win.
Congratulations to him. It's amazing.
His trip. His ride was fantastic and Bob
baffert becomes ties for the most Derby wins with six and
that's just it's congratulation the sex past history time ever
and the six faster exercise. It's only since, you know, 1896
no big deal, but Bob had a weird day because I mean thousand
words scratches, right? Before the race flips, in the
paddock literally goes on his back, breaks the arm of his
botch. Some trainer top assistant
trainer Jimmy. Yeah.
Yeah. And yeah, and so, they actually
had a scratch thousand words in bad for the brain.
Authentic to the gate and just rare occasion, by the way, where
the trainer is more injured than the horse in that situation.
A thousand words seems to be okay, but unbelievable.
Yeah, that's that kind of commotion.
Yeah, and if you're watching it on there, I mean, I don't know
this for a fact that I think one of my friends had mentioned.
They saw a little bit of red in the horse's mouth.
I think he bit his tongue when he went down.
So that's probably what that was more than likely, they can do
that. And then with Jimmy to, I mean,
he just came back after a pelvis surgery.
He had a bit of a fall a while back.
And so we, of course, hope that they're okay and he worked.
So, so hard with these horses, the whole team.
Hold that for a team from the ride.
There's the groom's, Jimmy, the assistant, and all the
assistants Mike over at La Salle.
They all do a fantastic job. So big.
Congratulations impossible to imagine baffert succeeding at
this level without Jimmy frankly, I have, yeah, I mean
that's how far these assistant training trainers are are so
important. I mean, you can't they are an
integral part of any operation and you see that time and time
again, I mean, Scott blasi for Steve asked me centered one and
I mean, there's just you see it over to see super long.
Yeah. Yeah.
Then also let's give a shout out to Starlight racing because this
is their second. They had 25 percent ownership.
We've authentic. Is that correct?
Making that sound like, I don't know the exact 25 sounds right?
Yep, that's right. And so front of the front of the
station, click glasscock official, handicappers ESPN 680.
Yep. Games on the, on the, on this
steep Channel all week long. So he was confident the whole
week. Weirdly confident, frankly about
authentic. He loved it.
Yeah. So was it like seeing those mi
mi re sports.com silver. They weren't even originally
supposed to run in them. And then they did whatever deal
they needed to do between the ownership partners, and I got to
do that. But they were, I mean, I saw
Michael Barons whose main guy. I for co-founder of my
racehorse.com and he was like, I cannot believe that just
happened. I mean they've been hoping for
this for their owners and the great thing about my race horse,
if anybody hasn't checked it out.
I mean if you are just a casual fan or if you're somebody that's
that's, you know, been playing the races for a long time.
It doesn't matter. There's a price point for
anybody. Their shares as low as like, I
think 60 bucks. They had at one point, but
there's a couple that are a few hundred and it's for a
fractional ownerships 0.1%, but you get some experience, you get
to go to the track, you get to be the word Winner's Circle.
And this case, you get to be in the Kentucky Derby winner
circle. And and you know it can be a
good entry point into getting into some of the more premium
deals that they have where you have larger shares and can make
some money back. But I mean with the purses for a
race like this you'll certainly make money back even with your
1% .01%. Yeah but you do that for
entertainment value, I mean most of the time yes but when you win
big races like they had Street Band he was in last year's
Kentucky Oaks and then one country studies.
Yeah well and this deal with authentic in particular wasn't
just for him as the resource. It was actually for him as the
potential. You know, yeah, so you get you
get in on that deal as well. We talked about doing and we did
not want, you know, what's going on.
Don't just real quick. I want to remind people who are
listening. You can text us on the UPS job.
Check, sign for 379 six, eighty five zero, two four, three,
seven, nine 680. You can also hit us on Twitter
at horse happy hour. I'm sure there are lots of
reactions to let us know how you I did.
Get a text from one of my clients who thanked us because
they listen to Megan and they hit the cooker.
They did not listen to me and Lily in a row.
I was alive going into the Ray's got a pickup or 4,000 bucks.
Oh, my gosh, old tis who all I needed was, I did he wasn't fast
Bells the one though, you put around that and those pictures
you send us. The other photo finish are was
phenomenal. And but, you know, we and I want
to talk about that race to. And I don't know if we want to
go there just yet. But I was so we were talking
about how we were super impressed with Serengeti Empress
in sir, game, press got what she wanted, but she just didn't seem
to have the last little kick that she normally does.
So but no, an interesting and interesting.
Derby in that. We got of the top three ODS
horses. They all finished in the top
four. That doesn't always happen.
No, no, no speaks to a smaller field for sure of 15, right?
Smaller in quotation. And you guys tell me who
finished 2nd 3rd and 4th because I was in the winter sister, but
area authentic and I did not burst his along with second.
Okay? I knew that mystery new big news
she bird up there. Okay, and then you had honor EP
and forth in a as far as we can tell and then max player in
fifth. What an honor EP was
Second-to-last, that's way back. Then we'll start and really came
on and I have a Smurfs that horse as well.
So, I mean, that just goes to show.
If I was merger horse. You bet you bet heavy.
I talked about this, a lot of talk to my max player.
They finished up for. It's the Derby, it is what it
is. It is know if 100 really is, so
you felt follow me and Megan, but mostly make it your own
good. Yeah, I will say this o about
the amount of quarter thing about coming out the Travers
doing back-to-back-to-back monochord races and there's
gonna be another model quarter race because that horse is going
to run in the Breeders Cup. Classic.
Like I don't know if they run the Preakness but I don't know
if tis laws best day. It's authentic still beats.
That's little thing. I think wins this race away here
and that's I don't think, I don't think his laws capable of
going to sub 2010. Yeah.
I mean, I think that was something that a lot of people
had kind of question before with Tesla, but they do it all the
time. I mean, it's the same thing with
with justifies that okay, but have they ever been tested, you
know, has he gone, has he had to battle for it?
And I don't know that his the law.
Can you think of a race where he had to battle like that on the
front end will to that point because the laws biggest
competition has been dr. Post, right?
That's what I mean. And he he's just started this
the board that you've Andy today.
Yeah, in a six-horse field. So I mean a little bit more.
He's had two. We're going way down a rabbit
hole here. Okay.
Tesla was really good today. He was authentic was
unbelievable. And it was like he was top six.
All time in speed time in this right.
Here is his story passed historic fast.
Can I just call this out? He runs a lot like I want to see
him. Him and by my standards in the
Breeders Cup Classic because they run same time like nothing.
So I mean the stretch twill between those two horses.
They're so similar. I'm going to add a third horse.
I think King Guillermo would be alongside just flying Low by the
way. King caramel wins this race
today. That's his style of race.
He's ready to go. Let's go.
He beats authentic. Think it is what it is.
I'm gonna call it what it is. My future's later.
Said that he does your future away, your joy of King,
Guillermo and itself. It's embedded November sitting
assuming met by the way. So yeah, I don't know.
I mean do you do we see him in the British rule?
Classic, do doors? Okay.
Let's stop. Let's stop.
Hang on. Hang on.
Hang on. Whoa, it's it's sooner than
that. How many of these horses?
Don't go to Maryland now? Because if I'm just a lot, I
don't ship to the Preakness. I don't think kids all or a big
guys if I'm authentic. I don't ship to the Preakness.
I don't know, I think authentic might, I mean because remember
he trained up shorter distance, he trained up to this race.
He didn't cut, he hasn't raced into high school, which is what
July when did it actually go off?
Because they and Ebola and it's now maybe, maybe early August
like usually end of July. I think it went off early
August. Yeah, you were great.
So that was like a, I guess I got it right here in front me.
I could tell you. Yeah, it was.
Was in the July was, like, July 18th host.
Little July wedding in the end of July is right, right, I think
so. I mean, I think him training up
into this race. Allowed him to be really, really
fresh for now. And that's, I mean, even more
credit to Bob, right for knowing how much worse he had, and not
pushing him to do too much before it.
So I think that was a really big benefit for him today.
And I think it's possible that we see him in the Preakness, the
best co-come of this race is that King Guillermo was going to
win the Preakness because have these horses, aren't sure it's
over. I'm still got our equipment.
They're going straight. Well Arc, Electric Go there, but
King girls. Seriously better than our
clicker. I mean, what am I doing?
Right now? He seriously Megan is staring at
the connect because that's Michael.
And that's, that's Joe, milkshake, Joe Moran page.
Operator is trying to get on an order for us on the, we're made
it on time for the show. Were you guys on?
No, no, no, you've been unbelievable today.
Frankly. We're gonna do all of our shows
at Churchill Downs. Yeah.
We're just gonna we're gonna do them during races at Churchill
Downs because we know you're going to show up.
Yeah, that's it. Yeah.
Right of a speeding ticket. But other than that, what's the
cost that speaking to? You?
Don't want to tell you, I guess my resource.com can pick that up
or whatever. So yeah.
The but do we do we see authentic do we get that
authentic by my standards? Showdown in the Breeders Cup?
I hope so. Or is he gonna go the mile?
I have to go authentic in the Breeders Cup Classic at this
point, you think? So have to do it?
You have to do you have to do it.
I mean, he handled the distance, no matter what we he did, he
did. He didn't just handle the
distance. He was destroyed the Revit.
I mean, he looked like he was wavering, he kind of wood for a
second thought. He might be up to his old
Antics. When I was 12.
I was watching the replay, so I would not lie.
I didn't think this was, I'd Finish Line, but he he kind of
does the thing where he starts to look around a little bit, but
Johnny did such an excellent job of just being there with the
worst and controlling him, keeping him on the Straight and
narrow because that is a horse that can waiver around a little
bit. So I think he's still developing
mental even though obviously he was on the top of his game
today, but that would be my one concern for him.
Still going into the Breeders Cup Classic, but obviously he
can, he can handle the distance. He did it, but we'll see how he
does against older horses. That's always the test.
Yeah. I mean at one time I wasn't very
excited about this. We are so classic and right now,
I'm more excited about it. Now.
I think it could be just had to wait One race for the merch.
Me so much for having authentic on my Breeders Cup.
Top 10 and by my standards, this whole time, humble brag.
It's a drink, it straight. I just like the Smurfs man.
I was just in the Winner's Circle at home at this point.
So now the Trafford made an inappropriate.
Look at me, it was ridiculous. And the trends going to be from.
Now on the changes are going to start dressing like Megan on the
back side because that's the key.
Hey, it's okay. When you were dressed like
backward on the backside, so I was just like, yeah, that's also
for those of you that haven't seen, I tweeted a picture of the
Bob baffert starter kit, which was dark wash, blue jeans, and a
white button-down shirt, by the way, if you're not following us,
it's at horse happy hour on Twitter.
And if you're not only stuff what's wrong with you, right?
Because we are the half of the horse-racing happy, aren't we
have a lot of fun? And this is no exception.
I mean as a better this it stinks because you know that you
know, I yeah, I just want some thousand dollars, right?
Still in a good mood, but As the horse racing fan, right?
Knowing what we just saw. I just I was blown away.
Yeah. Blown Away by that performer,
literally only a couple of outcomes for this.
Race is law wins, right? And we're looking at incredible
unusual history, right? And then this where you get a
performance that is just off the charts.
It's different, how different. I mean it was different and so
we saw historical credit to an authentic here because that was,
I mean, It was better than the justify run in the derby.
Now. I know he's an older horse and
justify by several months of by several races, but that was as
good as you're going to see a run in the Kentucky Derby and to
have a historic Oaks and a hood stork Derby.
She does it ever was really good.
I mean, what a great weekend. Yeah.
I don't really do the whole, the racing this weekend.
I miss the people, I miss the people to this but the racing
was fantastic cars. Were trafficked amazing.
Yeah. A crane, how hard did you take
it? The pants on the last race?
There is just based off of, you know,
what happened in the high school where New York traffic, almost
caught him at the end. I just didn't think it here, the
distance and then you know, you saw how he was had to work a lot
harder to get the lead, then a lot of people thought, what I
think everyone here thought Then the fast.
Fractions. What you guys said?
The third fastest Derby opening my lever.
I just didn't think he'd have enough to hold on, and it was
incredibly impressive that he was able to hold off to the law
to do it. So, yeah, I lost a lot of money
and I was very bummed at the start of that, but I pivoted
from from being mad about losing the money to just just thinking,
wow, that was a hell of a race. All right, so I'm going to
besmirch someone else who we actually really like.
His name is Ling gold. He's been here for many years.
Years Lane gold just put on Twitter a quote that he claims
his from from John Velazquez. Tesla law, never passed him down
the stretch. Right.
Yeah, we know that because that's true because when you're
at that Pole right there you won the race, you know because who's
in first and second at that by just checking boy, but just a
lot. Never passed him in the stretch.
You had no kidding. Yeah.
Because you don't worry. I'll show you what you are on
the horse that won and was in the lead.
What's his thank you Lane gold for the Deep insights of the
freaking horse racing. I hope you're missing.
He works for ESPN. That guy gets a check from ESPN.
It is Insides. Are that terrible did the shows
me DJ last year? That's who it is.
The law didn't pass. They got fenech in the stretch.
Thank you Lane, for those insights.
Hey, thanks for not making the trip from New York.
Good Lord, you know but someone which meant I'm drinking you
there Cowboy. Yeah.
What about though? I think it's really interesting
to point out with the horse like that that had some issues.
Like I feel a lot of the times Andy cappers, go off the numbers
so much that they forget that these are animals.
Like there's a reason why we call the trainer the trainer.
Like you are training up to something.
You are training an animal to do something.
I mean, it's like training a puppy to sit.
Like, there's a process that has to go on here and that for does
such a great job at that every time.
But speaking of authentic, and like, like we talked about on
the show, like the mental maturity and the progression
that he made, you have to give horses an excuse some time
because they're not machines. They're not, you know, they're
not race cars that have engines. There's going to be several
warrants races once in awhile, right?
Exactly. And and even more.
So you have to take what they have done and how they may have
improved it and how the trainer may have improved it and and
give that horse little credit because it is a process.
Yeah. I just think that the whole
thing was incredible. I do think that tizzle all got
up close enough for authentic. Did see him on the corner of his
eye. Oh, absolutely.
The challenge was on. I agree with and inauthentic
found that next year. And I mean, coming back to an
earlier race. The same thing happened with
Sarah getting it. Absolutely, dude.
That's why Bells the one that was so impressive because both
of those Phillies were Lying down the stretch, right?
In this case. Authentic was simply the better
coal today. 100%. Yep, and we have to bona fide
legit stars as because they're both, the greatest classic is
shaping up to be really great. Really exciting, really?
Now. I'm excited about my rankings.
What would your face off? Yeah.
Okay, you know, the thing about it is, by the way for people who
haven't listened before. Okay, Megan gets to vote in the
weekly Top 10 for the Breeders Cup Classic.
Rankings and so that's why we're asking Megan because she's been
doing well, Brad humblebrag everybody drank and so again and
so it tells you gives us the her vote because until Louis doesn't
because Megan doesn't maybe before but now I know that's a
lot to do because we're so far out and some of the better or
whatever. But I think the thing we always
talk about is with the Breeders Cup.
Classic is like these horses are now having to face older and
that's tough to do. So you take a horse like, toms
8r by my standards, you do have that experience.
On them, they have, you know, sometimes Action Security right
back some security. You have that extra year, you
have that extra. Sometimes.
They're just more developed, especially a horse like
authentic to because obviously he did very well here and he's
the Kentucky Derby winner today, but he's, I think he's amazed
full if I'm not mistaken. So, super, I actually think that
this help is race being in September was a huge deal for
that horse to win the Kentucky Derby.
I'm not saying you couldn't have won it, you know, back in May.
But this is a horse that needed that extra time and less likely
overly similar. You know, he as he gets to the
Breeders Cup, you also have to consider heat.
He's still going to be a three year old, but he's also a young
three-year-old, you know, so that goes into it too.
So that is probably at the top of my list with concerns for
facing. Those older horses like Max and
security, like, toms d'etat and you know, we'll see if midnight
bees who goes in there, probably not.
But either way, there's some talented horses, but but, I
mean, he is absolutely in the top.
I really like them. I don't know.
I might even like him better than Max.
I don't know. I got a big.
About right, this great. Just a curiosity since you're,
you know, formerly based out of LA and obviously authentic.
And maximum security are now trained by Bob baffert.
They like work out together that I don't think that they have.
I haven't seen them but it'll be interesting to see.
He doesn't always put horses like that together that are in
the same team. Gotcha.
It's Tis. The lost on your top five.
No. Okay.
No because it's well, hold on. Tom's a tough, right?
Yeah, no particular order. Let's just like five horses.
Um, authentic authentic by my standards, Max was carrying some
security. Would you put my night?
Bees will have used to or Tesla says right now I?
Yes, yes. Because although she is probably
not going to be in the Breeders Cup Classic.
They haven't said no yet and I think she's a better horse than
Tesla. If we get those five horses.
Plus his left King King you're looking for sure drank and the
Breeders Cup Classic. Oh man.
It's kind of beautiful fall day key without setting their
Keeneland Trackside doing the show, right?
Yeah, it'll be great. Did Louis just be something nice
about being human? No.
No. Whoa.
Whoa. Whoa.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Whoa, I said something about the
feel because kinky you're not something I smoke.
Keeneland that doesn't care about human beings.
I will tell you though right now.
I'm excited about what the potential that whole Breeders
Cup card could be after what we saw this weekend.
Yeah. I mean, I'm interested in the
crapshoot by the way, drank that I forgot that Serious, crap.
Shoot this year, the fun grade one friendly.
And it actually, it would be a great one.
Just a really crap shooting crap.
Shoot. He is that word crap shooting.
I think we gotta. But we had to explain the
crapshoot because the first time a became the first time, the
first time. Go ahead, Megan says the word,
crap. Shoot.
And then she goes. Can I say that?
And we were first off. We're a podcast.
Okay, you can find us. I'm a teapot.
Casting platform. You have no shows on Thursday.
Are we sponsored by Disney? I don't know what this is.
You come on the show as a host, and you start cussing left and
right. You said it was over this real
said, it was okay, what would happen if you said, said crabs,
you Don t VG with a get mad, probably.
But I haven't said, I'm not going to, I said handy in the
two hole waiter earlier today. All right, here comes the
mixtape. Oh, my gosh.
You said it's the after show. All right.
Yeah. We're having a lot of fun.
Again, historic weekend. This is the horse racing has We
are by the way, let's look it up.
I want to know what chisel off final time was actually.
Yeah, let me because I'm really interested in that because if he
ran like sub the chart out yet. How much see there's a chance
here and a sub 202, which is still unbelievably.
Yeah, great and that sets him up to be really okay in the
Breeders Cup Classic. I'm really fascinated to see who
ships to Baltimore. I mean really really fascinating
because you love that racer. Sure, but it's a million dollar
race at the end of the day, right?
And So I have a fetus just a law is not racing as a
four-year-old. Let's be really clear about
these things. If your sack of toga you hang
them up and you take the money because they are so small.
You take the money to me. Here's the thing, and horses,
you always take me. That's right.
As a fan. I don't want that to be the
case. But I've had so many friends
that have had like young horses, that won like listed stakes
races and got offered so much and getting them and then they
didn't take it and then the horse like, you know, didn't do
anything a horse. You always take the money with
it. So I'm not that isn't he?
It's a negative 7. No, no, no, that's right.
And so like look if Kiki or more runs second in the in the
Preakness or something and someone approaches them and
offers them five times what they paid for them.
Yeah. Yeah.
Get out and restock the Stables. It is what it is, right?
You got a kid of Uncle Mo, you get them out.
They get another kid. Uncle thing that I will say
about it though is that we have started to have races that allow
horses to continue their career, the Pegasus got the Pegasus.
You've got, you've got you by, you've got staudte.
You've got these races now. Now popped up that that actually
give you a bit of incentive to continue racing your horse.
So that's the one thing. I'm actually glad for those
races because I think it has allowed the fans to continue to
see some of their favorites and should extend their career
center. Because that's what happened
with midnight. These are right there goes to
seller at the phasic sale, then they pulled her from the sale
last week up happens. Right in this Audi cup happens,
but they knew she had more racing left in her and they had
spots to go in. That was the difference.
So, you know, if you maybe don't have those thoughts ago and I
don't think her horses is able to expand that career and
continue on with it then. Yeah.
Take the money. But otherwise, one of the things
that came out on, on this network ESPN. 680 this week was
that art collector is going to run as a four-year-old.
Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, that's great.
That's cool. Aim for the Preakness.
Right? Are you absolutely sure he's
gonna have to bring us but that's cool that we have a horse
of that caliber, which is Radio freaking September saying, I'm
gonna run every horse right now is going towards, what the
readers kept decision. What's the best shot there?
That's it. That's the only thing that
matters, right? Sure.
I we're going to take a break. This is the horse racing.
Happy. I went on the other side.
We're going to hear the full replay of the Call and then we
will jump back into it, talk about the other stakes races.
We're trying to still to see if we can get one of the other
ownership groups may be on, we'll see what happens there.
This is the horse racing, happy hour.
They're only line. We're ready for the starch.
The Kentucky Derby. Authentic did not break on the
lead here. Tis the law is up quickly.
Storm. The court is right there to a
newer traffic and now authentic is moving to their inside out.
Outside to be a part of the pace and now take over as they race
bias. For the first time, authentic
will make the front but it was not easy to get there storm.
The court is second on the inside, New York.
Traffic is third and Tis the laws right there forth, moving
into that turn then enforceable. Followed by Major fed money.
Moves 3y Detachment rate out there for wine winning.
Impression is seven lengths behind and mr.
Big news, 3 to South Bend, two and a half back to max player
racing on the inside of Necker Island.
Honor, AP is Last early leading only so label on take to the
backstretch. And the first half mile goes in
46.4 one seconds of the paces honest enough here for authentic
and he leads by a length and a half.
New York, traffic sits in second storm.
The court is third, Manny Franco has the Belmont Stakes Winner,
Tis the law, just two and a half lengths behind outside of horses
and clear Running Room. And that it's major fed, right
alongside of money moves Racing for the far.
Turn a catchment rate is next. Mr. Big news is about 8,
lengths, behind right now and honor a piece to lingering along
to the back of the pack as authentic texts of around the
far, turn Tis the laws, making his move now.
And here he comes, right up alongside of authentic.
A long shot. Mr. Big news has made a big run
up into third and they're into the stretch and it scares the
law on the outside of authentic, these two strifers drive as they
come. Final Furlong authentic is
dragging in just over all of to get by him but then two can go
to those gears, have the lead as they come down the 60 ball.
Cheers. Here's the Derby.
John Velazquez doesn't. All right.
There was the race call right there with just the incredible
performance by authentic. And, you know, I'm just I'm lost
for words, but we got some other races we got to talk about to so
because there's try to tweak it got baffert has very emotional,
stop it. Alright.
Alright, so the very first Stakes race of the day was the
American Turf and Frenchy. Started off, right?
Where he left off at one time when he won this race.
On the eight horse fancy liquor, hit the last four Stakes wins
here at Churchill Downs. Omega.
It was races. This number.
This was race eight. The gray to American church
event. All right.
There we go. Past unfortunately, Cayman
Cayman third. Sorry, lady hit the board.
Yes. Go.
Anything else? We wouldn't really need to say
about that. Sean.
Actually Tayshaun Prince. I ran a really good second and I
was the first time on Turf for him.
So absolutely or so watch as he continues to move forward and
the fact that he performed as well, in a graded Stakes race.
First time on Turf to is something to watch.
So as we get into those, you know, year-end races.
I think he'll be a contender usual to move to a graded.
Stakes grapes, Hue Franklin at this level.
Yeah. With with a horse like that.
Very good showing. Yeah.
I don't know where else you would have worked because Well,
I guess they work on the turf at Del Mar if he was ever there
butterfly. Yeah, right.
Well, no, he's not it for is California.
I understand. But right but but to race to
Works back he had got we got Joe on the line.
Okay, what's your? So let's go.
May, you introduce our special guest here?
Yeah, so very happy to introduce Joe milkshake from my race
horse, who's a big part of the whole group.
And we're so excited for them. Of course.
I've got a personal attachment to it.
But Joe congratulations with authentic.
Oh my gosh. We are so excited for you.
What a performance by him today. Thank you so much for having us
on and they're having me on and it's definitely surreal.
It's what dreams are made of, right?
And to have that happen and I'm speechless as many others have
probably come on after the race and we couldn't be happier.
You know, I could be any more happy for the 4500 plus
shareholders and authentic and this country party.
Mr. Hughes getting the derby win.
And yeah, just beyond. Yeah.
I'm just Panic right now. No, I of course tried to do you
guys Justice and Whole process with my resource, but can you
take us through the Journey that you have been on with this wash
from acquiring shares and him or acquiring a you know an
ownership interest in this forest and then be able to offer
him to the public in the way that you have and really the
first time ever in a Kentucky Derby winner that I think people
have been able to be involved like that.
Yeah, absolutely. So back in the spring time.
Mr. Hughes has been trip and Michael Barons, our CEO and
founder. We're on the hunt.
Obviously for a Kentucky Derby horse and Spencer at the
obviously Stone. Sam's in commission if and, you
know, zeroed in on an authentic and kind of work it in deals
together. And after Sandy the Derby, I'll
came, you know, stick together, and then we were able to start
offering shares in authentic in thing can be made early July and
yeah, it's been a steady flow of investors coming in and enjoying
the run from the Haskell and you know, so you're seeing him kind
of strut his Often the high school where, you know, he kind
of knows he's the guy and he was, is making it easy for all
the shareholders and given us a little bit of a heart attack.
And I think he equaled that tonight.
That's for sure. Yeah, a lot of people not sure
if an into Mischief could get the distance but boy he had
shown himself and he you know, Ned toffee whose partners with
you guys as well or involved, I guess with Spencer Farm saying
that he's a different type of intimacy of he's a leg your type
and they had a lot of confidence in him.
I mean, I don't think you could ever expect to win the Kentucky
Derby, but how confident were you guys today?
Day. You know, honestly, I was, I was
a bundle and there's last night and a bundle of nerves this
morning and I'm kind of like the calm, you know, you know, just
came over me and you know, the some of the scratches happened
unfortunately for some of the connections and we started
drawing, you know, inwards a little bit and although he
didn't have been at the best of breaks today either and you went
after it. So I mean, you know, I think,
you know, I was pretty calm. You know, you just, you hope you
have the horse. You haven't helped you break
well, and let the chips fall where they fall.
Also, I was pretty calm. I think the rest of the team
might have been a little bit more nerved up, as we got closer
to the race though. Hey Joe, this is Mike with a
horse racing. Happy hour.
We didn't have our typical cheers coming into the break.
So we had to get the glasses. Chink in there.
That's what this show is all about.
We got a lot of listeners that, you know, I think this would be
their dream right to own a. We have a lot of horse players
from around the country that just owning a small share of a
horse and really when people are doing this.
I mean, this is an unbelievable dream.
They're really doing it for the entertainment value, because
there's nothing like it in that Winner's Circle, whether it's a
He Derby or whether it's the maiden special weight race at
you know, at Turfway Park. Well, you guys have all sorts of
horses from all across different levels to write.
Yeah. Well, this was The Unexplained
sorry. Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, yeah, no matter, no matter.
I mean it was definitely little bit more more exciting today.
But we all like to get to the Winner's Circle.
Regardless of whether it's a, you know, starter of violence
rates are, obviously the highest of highs today.
And it's all what, what it's about.
And you know, when fans obviously couldn't could get
Kodiak it up, the racetrack prior to the covid-19 and
obviously as we, you know, move past that that's going to be a
big part of the process and being My racehorse and there
really is nothing like it. Because, you know, let's just
face it, right. This is what this is, you know,
usually a once-in-a-lifetime moment for people if they can
get to the highest of highs. And so you're going to have a
lot of you know, a lot of losers in between.
But it's about who you meet and the camaraderie and the great
times at the track that you can bring that it really makes, you
know, horse ownership to to be what I think is, you know, one
of the best things, you know, certainly happened in my life
and I think our shareholders would have agreed with that
prior to today. And they I certainly will hope
right now. Awesome job will let you go.
Celebrate, but thank you so, so much for joining us and big.
Congratulations to you guys. I mean, you're absolutely
revolutionizing horse racing with bringing new fans into the
sport. And we thank you for that.
And we are so excited to see what this horse does and and
many of the other ones who so where can people find out more
about my resource my rate. Source.com that's will find us
on our social media on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and my
resource.com., You can go there and see our current offerings.
Always always Offerings throughout the process will be
very active here in the upcoming weeks.
Look up for some newer horses, hopefully, and yeah, that's
where they can go and also call us on our support line or
support in my resource and we'll be happy to talk with anybody.
Alright, thanks a lot Joe. I believe in myself a man.
Congrats. All right, so like I will tell
you right now that I used I used to be doing The Syndicate thing
and the Very Force horse. We had actually ended up running
winning or Running in a Stakes race on Arlington million day
and there is just it changes everything for you.
Once you get that picture in the Winner's Circle by Cody
photography. Yeah.
Absolutely. Well, I was going to say, yeah,
I'm excited. That vid horse will be doing a
lot of videos for my racehorse with those offerings that
they're gonna put on that website.
But but yeah. Cody photography is a, like we
said, the official track photographer of the Kentucky
Derby and of Churchill Downs and to immediately, whether you are
listening, and you have a share in authentic, or you want to go
by other, you know, shares, whatever.
If you like horse racing at all. Fan, you're going to want to get
a picture of the Kentucky Derby winner and those will be
available at Cody Cody, photography.com., Ady.
They've got so many images of so many races, they cover 32 tracks
across the u.s., And that's where you can get your official
photo. And I think even, we talked
about this, you know, to bring it back to our environment that
we're in right now. There are no fans here.
You cannot take, you know, your own picture, you weren't there.
So to be able to experience it. I mean, pictures are more
important than ever in a historic event like this.
And I've seen Seen a couple of photos already.
They're amazing. So make sure you use the promo
code. Cheers, 20, you get 20% off any
orders of $40 or more, but I just love the idea of another
way to get fans involved in the sport.
That's what I'm excited about. I just saw a great tweet from a
woman in Ireland who has one share an authentic amazing.
That's awesome. Yeah.
Fantastic. Terrific, right?
And that's the thing is, like, if there's been people, I
forget, who was, I was saying, they're like my mailman, ask me
about the collection. They owned a share in authentic,
but like, but that's You want, you know, forget to bring people
into the sport and to be like, wow, the I have a personal
attachment to that, I get to go to these things.
I mean, and there are educational as well.
That's, that's a big part of Hope.
The ownership of thing passes listening.
Your boss has, all the shares. Louis was about all the shit in
here. Most folks.
Listen to me. Well, you might get a discount
right now, 200. All right.
Let's go back to the, the other stakes races.
The second one of the day was the Great to Pat Day mile.
We solve rushy who was at one point pointing at himself to the
Kentucky Derby. Made the decision to go the
pathway model. Think you made the right
decision rush. You look really good today.
Uh, she did look very good today.
That was exciting. I mean, you know, you got to do
what's right by the horse and and they certainly did and
putting him in the in the right spot.
That that field ended up a bit softer though.
It should have been really what was originally supposed to be.
So, you know, I guess they grow. She is a horse.
You're not pointing to the Breeders Cup, that'd be pretty
nice. That's a pregnancy could be
pretty important. That's a shooter and You know,
they would decide they want to go to turns.
I think you're right. I hear you.
That's a freaking shooter for ab and have your Castle on a board.
I believe that was one of two stakes races that table your
cast on. It was much better today than
yesterday, digital will get to the.
Yeah, I think, that's right. Yeah, we'll get to that, though.
Sitting on go earns Derby points.
Where the 2021 Derby for a derby 147, Corey land area board there
in the Iroquois Stakes. Corey later.
He also got two steaks wins today, biggest pay the day, too.
Yes. $50 to win on sitting in seat on go.
Of course, the Romans the trainer because he seems to win
this race every year. I think he's won the last 47.
Don't quote me. We saw another big effort and
the distaff turf miles from Beau.
Recall. That was a great field right
there to Bow recall when classical and class here.
That was. Maybe Franco's went.
Unfortunately. Only Stakes win the day.
What did she go off at though? Because newspaper 1880.
Okay. Yeah, I was gonna say there was
a good price on her. Yep.
For sure. There was a lot of There was a
ton of value. What's interesting, newspaper of
record was fortified morning line and we told you to spread
this race and it was right now. Is that was a sprinter.
Absolutely. Yep.
And in one of the best finishes you're going to see Ever.
Yep. In the Derby City.
Distaff. We saw Bells.
The one knows out. Like when I say nose, nose hair
out Serengeti Empress at the wire Serengeti Emperor's got the
trip. She wanted up front the whole
time. She ran while she ran really
well Bells. The one was just really good.
This was Corey Landry's other win.
Tyler though did a great job. Ants are getting Empress great
win right there for bells. The one that puts Bells, a one,
two wins and two, places at Churchill Downs, all times that
are four starts. They just lost track.
Have your Castellano and Chad Brown team up on the turf, with
digital age to win. The million-dollar old Forester,
bourbon Turf, classic stakes. And of course, that is a great
one. That is Louis.
One of your favorites is right, way up there.
I love this route at Churchill Downs.
A mile and an eighth of interfere for sure.
And he what did he play? Like he paid Wanting.
So we just a lot of there was. I you?
Yeah, we were actually talking about that going into it
because, you know, Louis, now we're sitting on this Tis, the
law. Take its like we're all the way
through the pick for in the pick, three years.
Like, all right, we just need is a lot of windows were cashing.
These tickets and we're feeling pretty good because the favorite
hadn't come in a while, and it's like, all right, you know, it's
kind of the favorites kind of decent and I was, I was feeling
good about it, but we both were nope.
Yep. This is the derby was the day
where the second third. Fourth choice is really shined.
But all those horses were super quality horses.
Yep, and you can't take anything away from me. - has a ton of
class. All right, and then we did it
again. Have the Kentucky Derby, which
was just phenomenal out of all you saw today.
I mean, without question Bells, the ones effort was really
strong, really gutsy, but nobody touched authentic performance
today. No, I think I've had it
definitely was the was the most impressive for me and, and a
man, he just just grew into his own so excited to see that.
I like, when young horses are able to put it all together.
That's what, that's what it's all about.
In the same vein, sit in them, go in the Iroquois.
Was that impressive Yesenia? Was that proven pretty
impressive? Yeah, the mile given the ones
her and I get it but as a two-year-old he was that good.
Unfortunately recently, two-year-old success does not
equal 3 year old success, right? Correct.
So, but no one like Dell Romans with two girls at Churchill
Downs. And so but that horse was as
impressive as anyone that has was midnight bourbon in that
race, by the way. Yeah.
Now there are a couple really nice horses in that race.
And so will it would be really nice to have a freaking horse.
Local that translated from two-year-old three-year-old,
son. We can root for someone in the
right now. I just wanted to Go to the
Breeders Cup, juvenile. Well, that's what I mean.
Super unlucky to write with what Dennis is moment.
You had bad stumble and then not this time won the Breeders Cup
juvenile did. He's one of the four?
Yes. Yeah, but but I feel like he's
had horses show up there every year.
He's had you know the favorite or sell out to Sully the like
this were totally missing the board today.
She thought so in that in that airport, a shout out.
If you don't drink in front of yourself, are very realistic.
You're scouting out. Shout out so that everybody else
I'll drink. This empty pint of liquor is my
fault. Okay, Bill Dale.
Romans, of course, with like we said on the winter, but Steve
asmussen. His equally as good with two
year olds, had the second place in the third-place, horse with
superstock, a man who's there in the Iroquois.
It'll be interesting to see how many of these horses end up
going to Keeneland in the Breeders Cup juvenile.
Well, especially since their local to you know, I mean that's
an easy to ship 45 minutes down the road near Keeneland.
So train here are trained to Keeneland or whatever you want
to do, probably screen here. But yeah, that's an easy one.
How was shipping concerns play? You think in his ear and The in
this year, in the Breeders Cup. I mean, we obviously you're
going to shift from all over the world.
Normally. Yeah.
I mean, I think we'll see a lot less International forces.
The turf races will see will suffer in a serious way.
Absolutely. Yeah, I agree.
I totally agree. I'm trying to see the chart yet
for the Derby. Still not up.
But like we said, Bob baffert gets win.
Number 6, tying him for the most, all-time and Johnny.
V gets win number three, but more importantly I've guessed
gets his 200th, grade one win Megan.
That's pretty, that's just pretty amazing.
It's very amazing. Under grade ones is incredible
and enjoy. The last has to just a Class
Act. I mean, he is absolutely
fantastic. He's a writer that is always, so
kind to everyone. If you've never met him before,
or if you've known him for a long time.
He's just a stand-up guy and happy to see him be successful
here. Unfortunately, I think his
family stayed home in New York, with all the restrictions.
So they weren't here to celebrate, and his wife always
very animated when he's able to get to the Winner's Circle.
So, it was kind of sad, not to see we outta here, but hopefully
they can celebrate maybe at one of the other races you did.
The Breeders Cup or possibly the Preakness.
If he decides to go there and and I want to say to I mean
Bob's whole team. I mean, I'm a big Bob, baffert
fan. He's always been very kind to me
to the media. He's always, I don't know.
He's I think he's good for the sport and a lot of ways, and I
know I'm going to get some feedback on that because people
have various opinions, but I'm happy to see him do well and to
give credit to to, of course, the horse and the rider.
And and to his assistant Jimmy who we wish him.
Well, hope he's okay. Yeah, exactly, but I think Bob
was quoted as saying that You know, wishing Jimmy could be
there with him to celebrate and if there was a hall of fame for
assistance, Jimmy would be in it, you know, I mean, he thinks
that highly of him and trust him with all of his best horses and
has for a long time. So it's nice to see that team
and the hard work that they do come together.
So Johnny D's other Derby wins or Animal Kingdom in 2011 on my
birthday in always dreaming and 2017.
Yep. So just incredible right there
and you know, I think Bob is good for the sport.
I think Bob's good for this war because he is the Sport's.
Most recognizable figure. I mean He makes himself
accessible to I mean he will talk.
To you, he will do interviews. He will, you know, do all sorts
of stuff. So he's not, he's not a recluse.
He's not, you know, shutting down the barn and not allowing
anybody to come by and see the horses.
I mean, he's really shares it with with people and that's
important for an ownership group.
Like my racehorse, you know, with so many different people
that want to be involved and, of course, of a horse can get them,
the videos they need while they can't be there during the
pandemic. But other than that, you know,
he has been one that's going to share that experience with, with
those that wanted. And I think that's great.
Bob's. Their five Derby winners were
started in 1997 with silver. Arm real.
Quite a 98 War emblem in 2002. American pharoah, of course, in
2015, in justifying 2018, with those last two, pharaoh and
justify winning the Triple Crown.
I mean, just incredible career. I definitely besmirch them way
too much. I'm just, I'm still shocked at
what I saw when that horse coming down the stretch.
I'd because I thought he was going to just do exactly didn't
Haskell and he didn't he didn't slow down a little.
He did. He showed signs of wanting to
maybe do it, but when he died, Kind of competing competed, you
did. And, but even in the final
stages, he was kind of, like, look around a little bit.
But that's how great of a rider Hall of Fame Rider.
Johnny Velasquez is that he was able to, you know, like I said,
control him and get him, get him moving forward.
Does that give you an idea that he does need a month off here,
more than one? Because, again, he's trained up
into this race. So I think you have the option.
I think he went six weeks, you do not.
Yeah, I'll I would think the previous would be a tough call
here. Yeah, I don't know.
Can't speculate. No can't speculate.
Well, that's kind of what we do though.
I think. Well, I guess we should ask you.
Yeah. Yeah that put him on the spot on
fairly. Yeah.
Yeah. So let's put three year old tell
you you're wearing then his answer would have been.
We're going to talk to Bob's house for some jobs.
Yeah, that's what a way. I never asked that question.
Where we on three-year-old in the?
You're fired male 3 year old in here man.
That's his tone. But this is the law still the
lead for the three-year-old of the year.
I guess. We'll see what happens in the
Breeders Cup. I think that's fair right now,
right now, right now, right now. I think you got dissed, the laws
overall body of work is still better than all Phenix, Florida
Derby, Belmont Traverse. I mean, but then you have the
house and then the Derby. Yeah, besides, that he went.
Three sham and the grade to San Felipe.
So I mean, he's got some greatest takes to write as well.
I think he would. I think he would have had to win
at scene, Anita. Man, it is a very good debate
because there's nothing bigger than a Kentucky Derby.
We know that sir. Yep.
They both have Triple Crown wins.
We're going to prompt more than likely have three different
horses win. The Triple Crown races this
year. No, we don't have to worry about
the after Haskell field, doesn't look as good right now.
It does not. That's fair.
Yep, although not and your traffic.
Your traffic was in the conversation up until the top of
this right now, but fate was not his race.
He should not be the right word. Did you like that?
I did. That was faded away.
How many tick marks? Do I have?
I erased them - oh, wow. There was no tick marks.
I had them in my head. I erase them from My Mind, by
the way, I think authentic some lead right now.
Yeah, I would say barely and there's plenty of good races
left, but he's a little ahead, winning in a 16 or 15.
More Shield later that did it for me.
Yeah. I mean, that was it was, it was
super impressive, six, passes, Derby ever.
It's really well. Now you that whe When the post
position draw came out? We, he was obviously The Biggest
Loser. Yeah, and Overcame that right?
And he got helped out with some scratches and stuff like that.
Just by thinking you're moving out, was a major help.
I agree. He came here.
He came out of post. What because 2016.
Yeah, they pinched it in as soon as they as soon as thousand
words scratch. They had that the gate changed
quickly. He wasn't 17 because I didn't
run in one. They didn't run one.
But then there were the other day the other scratches so that
moved him to 16 which are 15 or 16 horses.
Well 15 2016 17 posts never was still that one.
That never won. I thought he might be right
there. But no.
He's all right, I gotta I gotta give a shout out real quick to
our sponsors. And again, we are the horse
